CON: Not much better than the OEM mic built into Canon 60D. This is supposed to be in "stereo" but I don't hear it, it sounds like the mono mic on the camera.
OTHER: Makes your camera look PRO'ish.Mic is great but doesn't pic up very far away. still better than using an internal mic on the camera.

I got this mike from Amazon about two weeks ago and am completely disappointed in its sound quality. For instance, I attended the Senior Center picnic today which had a live band. I noticed on the playback that the sound of the music was muted and constricted compared to the Sony.I had a small Sony microphone (ECM-MSD) for years on my Sony and Canon camcorders and it worked perfectly with high fidelity and dynamic rich sound until it went bad. I was surprised when the repair shop told me that Sony doesn't make replacement parts for small items like this. But, nevertheless, I will be returning this unit to be replaced by another Sony.
I have been making movies since VHS came on the market, then moved up to Super-8, standard 8mm, mini-disk and finally memory cards. It seems that each generation gets better.
Except for this item, I have had great luck with Amazon.com in the past.

I needed a second microphone for my backup video camera (Canon T2i) and this one has performed flawlessly. I use it in alot of loud venues/clubs and it picks up what i need it to often without having to rely on an outboard audio source. My only irk is that it's hard to tell when the battery life is going out. But not a big enough issue to give it less than 5 stars.Want Polaroid Professional Grade Digital SLR and Camcorder Microphone Discount?
I was getting an external mic for my videos so I could reduce white noise in the background and just get better sound all around instead of the internal mic of my T3i, to my surprise the white noise was still there and it was hard for me to tell a difference between the two, I guess I'll have to take it out and use it more considering I got it today and I was only doing test sound with my voice, although I assume it will do fantastic outdoors, I'll probably be more likely to use it indoors :-/ dissapionted
