If you are nutball about the world of the tiny, consider this innovative design: The ability to swing the 'elevator' arm 360 and use a crank to fine tune your macro lense towards the subject.Manfrotto has something simular, yet does not allow as much freedom as the Velbon does.
For video, SLRs can be a bit cranky about a zoom in. I believe this product will do the job.
