BRAND NEW!!!5M USB Waterproof Endoscope Borescope Inspection Camera+Free Gift+Free Gift

BRAND NEW!!!5M USB Waterproof Endoscope Borescope Inspection Camera+Free Gift+Free GiftThis Inspection Camera works better than expected and is a great value for $30, but would have been disappointed if it had been much more expensive. Here are my observations:

Included -

* USB Camera

* Instructions

* Mini-CD

Note: My PC is a two year old Compaq Laptop running Win7 (64-bit)

Pros -

+ Decent Video Quality; this is a relative quality for the small size the camera, see my video

+ Adjustable Light; has four small lights with a brightness control on the PC side of the USB connector, goes from dim to very bright

+ Long Cable; at least 15' long

Cons -

Instructions; basic at best, a lot of playing is required to take advantage all of the options

Software Installation; no install program on the CD, you need to make a directory on your PC and manually copy the files

Capture Software; cumbersome interface and setup,

Dropped Frames; a little downward tweaking of the "Frame Rate" setting was needed to stop dropping frames while recording video

This works for my needs after a good bit of experimenting with the settings.

Recommended, with the caveats above.

I give it 5 stars because of the price, and the picture is way better than I expected for the price. The previous reviewer is accurate in his assessment, except I didn't get any directions. I will add that this camera will not work with the slower USB 1.0, but works like a charm with USB 2.0 and Windows XP Service Pack 3. No need to copy the executable off the CD if you are using XP. Go to the Start button then All Programs then Accessories, and then choose "Scanner and Camera Wizard"... you can take pictures from there if you want. If you don't know what version of USB you have... you don't have to worry if your computer is less than 7 or 8 years old, or when you plug a USB device in and Windows doesn't report "This device can run Faster" or something close to that then you're OK. The cable is very flexible, so you will need to tape it to fish tap or a snake to get it where you want. I think the camera end is brass. The brass end is roughly 3" long and .5 inch diameter, so I don't think it will go through a 2" or less trap. It may make the turn on 3".

The title says it all. The camera works, but stick it in a dark hole and the light level/resolution are so poor that it quickly became worthless.
