I was skeptical of the price, but it works! It provides a great picture from my Mac to my TV and the audio comes through the TV. Highly recommended.

when you connect this adapter to HDMI cable, you do not watch the images on your Tv set automatically. You have to set up your MacBook Pro. search for instruction in apple.com.

I found this and it worked with my MacBoom Pro with Mountain Lion.

Hdmi Video Set up

System Preferences > Displays. There are 3 tabs in the window; Displays, Arrangement and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Bottom left of the window tick "Show displays in menu bar" and then bottom right click "Detect Displays".

Now click on the tab named Arrangement. Bottom left of the window tick "Mirror Displays".

You should now only see 2 tabs, Display and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Select the desired resolution for your TV (probably 1080i). leave all other settings at their default values.

Sound

System Preferences > Sound. There are 3 tabs in the window; Sound Effects, Output and Input. Be sure you are on the Sound Effects tab. Middle of the window select your TV where it says "Play sound effects through:".

Select the middle tab named Output.

Select your TV from the drop-down list next to HDMI, below where it says "Select a device for sound output".

Using either Finder or Launchpad go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.

On the left-hand side of the window you should now see HDMI. In the middle of the window, on the Output tab, where it says "Source:" select your TV from the drop-down list.

This last action was required in my case, it may also be required in yours. If you CANNOT see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list on the left, do the following:

Bottom left of the window select the wheel icon with the down-pointing triangle. Make sure that sound output is selected and that you can now see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list of devices.

If you still cannot hear sound, log out of your account and then log back in.

You will now have sound coming out of your TV from your computer

I bought this adapter thinking it would be the only thing I need to watch stuff like hbo go from my laptop on my big screen. IF it worked then I would I have been right. The problem is, IT DOESN'T WORK. I felt like I was back in my preteen days, and those old enough to know what I'm talking about know how I feel, where I had to stand just right with just the right amount of pressure on the cord and connect to make sure that the cable and the adapter were working together to get a picture. After about two hours of trying everything in the book to get it to work I have finally given up!.

I am highly disappointed that this did not work for my Macbook, not a Macbook Pro, but an ordinary Macbook. The audio did not work at all, but everything else was just about perfect, except for the audio. I really don't understand why apple would make a device that does one thing but not the other.

Not much to say other than it fits into my Surface Pro Mini DisplayPort adapter as expected and works great. Would prefer black but at this price and the fact it is an adapter its just fine.
