It has a color screen. You must charge the screen overnight before first use. 4 AAs go in the handle. I used the Whistler WIC2409C all day. The screen has contrast, brightness and orientation buttons. The orientation button is very useful because as you twist around with the camera your image may turn upside down. This button sets the image back right side up. The color screen is also detachable and works wirelessly. This screen is very convenient because you can lay it anywhere while you shove the WIC2409C inspection cable into an inaccessible area. Also, this screen has a video-out port, which I connected to a 19" computer screen. But all I needed was the detachable screen with wireless connection. Finally, this inspection camera has four small LEDs on the tip. But for behind walls these small LEDs are like a small flashlight in an underground cave. Therefore, I taped a mini LED flashlight on the camera end with electrical tape. Then I turned the mini flashlight on and fed the camera into my cieling. I had more than enough light and could see around 10 feet between the joists of my cieling.

After many comparisons of the different inspection cameras on the market I ordered the Whistler 2409C. What I missed was that not all Whistler inspection cameras that look the same in the ads have the ability to record to an SD card. No wonder the seller had the lowest price. This one has no SD slot. Be sure to check this feature before ordering. Also, the focus depth of field is very narrow. No way to focus this camera on the subject in "view". Still, for the low cost it's a good entry level, non-pro camera for the average user.

I am always a little leery buying the lowest price listed so what a pleasant surprise to find it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. As my title states I bought four of the X10 AirSight Wireless IP cameras and two are working while two are dead. There is no support execept some generic forum provided on the X10 website. When they work they do work very well but if you buy you too will be taking a chance that the camera will quite working. I will not buy an X10 AirSight camera again.

I bought 2 of these cameras..they both constantly lose connection. I even tried to connect each one separately to different wireless connections via Pepwave,Cradle point & Kyocera routers & 3 different computers with the same results. they are not reliable for recording, if you hard wire in same room to router may work OK,,but kind of defeats the purpose.

I purchased two of these cameras based on outside reviews of being able to view the images over the internet. However, I was truly disappointed. I could not even set up the cameras because the default password given in the instructions did not work for either camera. There tech support is atrocious. I tired calling them several times but never got a person. Finally I tried using their online tech support. They told me that they sent out a bunch of cameras with different passwords and that the supervisor would e-mail the passwords for my camera that day. I was disappointed that the e-mail never came. Several days later I am still struggling. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA Customer service sucks.

Panasonic HDC-HS9 AVCHD 3CCD 60GB Hard Drive High Definition Hybrid Camcorder with 10x Optical Imag

I write this review because I wish it had been written during the time I was purchasing my camcorder. I will summarize this review between the Sony HDR-SR11 vs. Panasonic HDC-HS9 as basically a toss up, but the little things of Sony leaned me to the SR11.

First, let me say that I really did not want to buy Sony HDR-SR11, granted a Bravia TV is my LCD of choice, but I cannot stand their proprietary memory. Since this camcorder was not purchased for photos this was not a big deal. Though I commend Panasonic for using SD that can be readily found. Sony is pricey (though some may say justifiably so because of the quality) but competition is good for the consumers as we benefit through new, quality, and innovative features.

A salesman from a particular store told me that Sony was good to get for camcorders, and I'd add Nikon or Canon are a way to go for digital cameras, anyway I digress.

Having to see it for myself, initially I purchased the Panasonic HDC-HS9 and after a tough decision I had to switch for the small things mainly from software which I'll get to later, but first let me give a side by side comparison between the two after testing out each product for a couple hours about the features that matter to me at least. I will refer to the products as HS9 and SR11 for the remainder of the review.

Appearance: I'd have to give it to the HS9 for being noticeably smaller. But the SR11 is not big (especially not 90's camcorder big), as I have a man sized hand, but the HS9 wins the compact comparison in this case. While we're on the physical appearance of it, I was disappointed in the HS9 placement of the external adapter. The battery must be physically removed every time you want to connect the adapter as the cable connector is behind the battery. Therefore you cannot charge the battery simply by pluging in the charging cable as you can on many products that you can usually do this and as you can for the SR11. And the HS9 forces you to use the external cable when transferring a video, even though this may make sense, but when you have a short clip and just took the battery off the charger, it's annoying to remove the battery and find the external adapter every time to do so. Bad placement of the external adapter on the HS9 unlike the nicely placed (as is with most camcorders, at least with a previous Canon ZR200 that I own) with the HS9. If size is an issue for you, the HS9 may be your choice.

Video Quality: My opinion of the quality between the HS9 and SR11 was comparable. Between the two it's a toss up during daylight conditions as both are excellent, and the SR11 is stunning as your eye sees it, it appears on the screen, very nice. The HS9 records in a 1080p vs. a 1080i format, that may give the albeit slight edge in terms of theoretically video quality to the HS9. Though the software provided with the HS9 to play back these high quality videos ruins the superb video recording. I hate to say my eye didn't notice the difference between 1080p and 1080i though my correction lens aren't the greatest, mileage of your eyes matter perhaps.

In low light conditions, the HS9 seems to record slightly brighter images which are decent, the SR11 are a bit darker, though look extremely realistic. A true toss up, and really based on personal preference and would have to say they're evenly matched for you to decide.

In extremely low light conditions I found the HS9 surprisingly grainy. It seems to brighten up a extremely dark image thus resulting in grain. I have not recorded the SR11 in low light conditions other than finding a youtube video of a low light condition video and it seemed to keep it's realistic tone but remained dark. The HS9 seems to be on the right track to attempt to brighten up things, as the SR11 does not, but at this point I would have to say the HS9 was unsatisfiability grainy.

Both were grainy in bedroom light condition when displaying directly from the camera to the TV (not recording, just displaying through the cables) though the SR11 might have had a slight lead when panning or moving the zoom in and out a bit more responsive, though hardly noticeable.

Formats: The HS9 takes the lead in this regard as it has a 24 cinema mode, that records frames at 24 frames like some movies. Otherwise the HS9 records in 60 frames per second. However, the Pinnacle trial version could not handle the 60 fps mode and only the 24 cinema mode (though it said it was 30 fps). Though the HS9 software could handle its own 60 fps video fine, more later on software. The SR11 records it's videos in 30 fps

Night vision between the two the HS9 uses a blue illumination for night vision and the SR11 uses the commonly known green illumination as often seen on TV. I like the green better, but the blue was a nice change and this did not affect my decision either way, though it was nice to have on both.

Transfer to PC: Both transfer to your computer via a USB extremely quickly and at seemingly equal times.

Sound: Both are 5.1, the sound is acceptable and nice on both camcorders, I would say that the wind cut function on the HS9 was nice to have and did seem to work, the SR11 does not have this feature, though I'd wish it did. I'd give a slight edge to the HS9 in this one, especially if you record in windy conditions often (soccer games perhaps), which I don't.

Optical Image Stabilization: Both claim image stabilization, the OSI on the HS9 seems to slightly work better, though not noticeably. I think both still need to work on this.

Face recognition: The SR11 impressed me with the facial recognition as it just works. Turn the camera on a person and a white box appears around a persons face and moves as the person does, always keeping focus on that persons face. The focus on the HS9 on faces seemed very good, though I couldn't figure out the white box feature, it might have had to been enabled through a button a readily accessible button at the very top, so not that bad, but the HS9 was automatic.

Cables: Both have an ample about of cables that allows you to connect your camera to the TV with both RGB and Yellow and white/red audio cables.

Remote: Both had remote controls, a definite plus.

Software: This is where I must reluctantly gives this definitely to the SR11 or Sony. First, very few software handle the AVCHD videos at this time, so both Panasonic and Sony include their own software to retrieve the videos from the camera. The Panasonic software is a bit clumsy when it asks which folder you want to save it in, it's a bit manual where the Sony software detects when the camera has been connected, and simply asks whether you want to import all your videos, one click and it does, in a folder already created with an independent name. The Panasonic software called HD Writer had some additional editing capabilities to slice, merge, and delete unnecessary scenes and save to dvd and mpeg2 whereas the Sony had no editing features.

Playback software: I really hope panasonic gets this point. Their playback software most likely did not use directx, where the Sony PMB or Picture Motion Brower does. What this does is use your video card when the HD videos are playing back video. At one point I thought there was something wrong with the camcorder because the playback would skip using the HS9 playback software, but after encoding it to another format, my native video player kicked in and played back smoothly. This really scared me thinking that there was something wrong with the HS9 when there was not, however my x2300 dual core processor was not able to handle the playback of the native HS9 videos alone. This is in contrast to Sony PMB software for playback that installed directx that utilized my video card so that playback of the native format of the camcorder was silky smooth. What's more the Picture Motion Brower is a nice video playback software that throws in additional calendar features of when a video was imported and such, a nicety that should be used with backing up as it's insanity to store large amounts of precious moments on a computer instead of constantly backup up these priceless moments on DVD's and such, those who have had hard drive failures know. Panasonic included a copy of Pinnacle trial version 11 for HD cameras, it could import the HD 60 fps videos, but did not encode them properly. The 24 cinema mode (or 30fps) videos has no problem in Pinnacle. The SR11 videos also were imported into Pinnacle with no problems. Once additional nicety of the Sony software is that you can make a still picture at any moment making a jpeg without importing it into an editing software. Though the HD Writer software has nice features to backup your videos, hard to use in other cases like loading the HD videos stored on your computer. Sony's Picture Motion Brower software is very good to view and backup, though a register folder option was awkward, why not just allow the ability to just drag in folders to register, always room for improvement I guess.

Viewfinders: Both viewfinder display a clear image, though the SR11 has a touchscreen where the HS9 does not, though understandable with the price difference. I was disappointed I could not navigate to playback a video on the SR11 without using the touchscreen since the screen would get a lot of fingerprints, though there are less buttons to complicate things because of the touchscreen. Both have easy buttons to begin recording.

The HS9 had a feature to offer advice how to record like turn on the low light feature (should have had a feature that this would turn on automatically) or you're panning to fast, this advice can be taken as good or bad.

Zoom: The HS9 had digital zoom, but it would not work in 24 cinema mode, go figure, and was adequate. The SR11 had no such zoom, but the normal zoom was satisfactory, though not as far as the HS9.

Conclusion: If you can tolerate the size of the SR11, and wind is not a major issue and are looking for a camcorder with excellent video in all light conditions, good sound, facial recognition, and easy and nice software then SR11 is a fine choice that I am happy with.

The HS9 is a nice choice when size is an issue and windy conditions to utilize the wind cut feature, beware of extremely low light conditions and be wary of the battery having to be removed each time for the external adapter and native format playback skipping (it's not the camcorder, you're computer is too slow, just encode it to another format), there is no touch screen and there is a mini joystick that can be cumbersome as when engaging night vision is easier on the SR11 as opposed to the HS9 as well as low light mode.(though there is a price difference to offset the differences).

I am enjoying the SR11 and things are drastically improved over the miniDV of yester-years. The only thing that I battle each day is why I didn't get the SR12.

The HS9 that I've just noticed has an added feature that you can put wide angle lenses on it nice.

As some of the earlier reviews have pointed out, this awesome little camera suffered from lack of support in Apple's editing applications like iMovie 08.

Well that's all in the past. With the release of OS 10.5.3 and QuickTime 7.5 a few days ago, the HDC-HS9 (and the non-hard drive HDC-SD9 as well) are now fully compatible. You can easily import and edit your HD movies in iMovie, in all the camera's formats.

I love this camera. My only complaint is that spare batteries are absurdly expensive. Other than that, it's fantastic.

I've had this camcorder for almost a week, and like any new gadget, I've been using it quite a bit. Here are my thoughts.

It fits great in the hand and is easy to handle. It has a small size for a Hard Drive camcorder and easy to shoot and hold. Image stablization works well and the zoom is good.

BAD: I played the video on my plasma, and while the footage I shot outside was beautiful the clips shot inside were very soft and in some instances pixelated even with the interior lights all turned on for max lighting. The room I was shooting in has multiple windows and lots of natural light, so this should've not been an issue. These clips didn't live up to the moniker "High Def." From what I've learned from several blogs, this is something to expect to some extent from many consumer camcorders even HD versions. That would probably be tolerable, but what I didn't count on is that the footage shot with this camera crashes Final Cut Express 4 and iMovie. I'm no techie, but from what I've been told Panasonic does something a little extra to the AVCHD format that iMove and FCE can't abide. There are work arounds, but I'd rather just use a camera that doesn't require workarounds. This has been documented on multiple blogs, which I should've consulted before making the purchase....I have Macs at the house, and the included software doesn't work with Macs. SO I'm taking it back and will probably exchange for the Canon Vixia HF10 which I've read good things about. If you're not a Mac user and don't use iMovie or FCE for editing, this is a pretty nice option. Otherwise, get ready to learn workarounds or buy a non-Panny camcorder.

I got this camcorder from Best Buy (sorry Amazon)... All I can say this camcorder works can be read perfectly from the Playstation 3. AVCHD type of camcorder for Panasonic was not getting enough support from NLE editing softwares like Vegas 8 Pro, PowerDirector 6, and etc. It works with latest version Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate but need too much computer power like Quad core processor, more RAMs for video editing. It comes with an software like HDWriter and it is easy to convert it to MPEG2 or AVC format for DVD/Blu-ray playback.

The Good thing about this camcorder it is stunning like High Definition of Blu-ray if record during the daylight but very grainy during lowlight shooting. You will need external LED light, but this cam doesn' t have hotshoe.

Audio is so-so, no input for external mic.

60GB HDD is plenty enough space but if you are shooting a film, you might need to backup the files and then format hdd.

PS3 can show 1080p24 just fine by using the USB input.

Updated (4/23/08): The Best program to used to get this cam work with your AVCHD videos... Use Nero 8 and look for Nero Vision and convert it to Nero Digital HDTV 1080p, video will play very smooth on PC and PS3.

Updated (3/12/12): It been 4 years! Alright, Let me recall it, I understood cameras better now. HS9 is a small sensor camcorder, it work best in 1080i but in 1080p it is very sloppy, so shutter speed must adjust correctly for 24p, otherwise it is not as smooth as Panasonic GH1, GH2, Canon EOS DLSR like 7D, 5D, T2i, T3i, etc.

Micro 4/3 even bigger sensor than HS9. If I were you, I would go for GH2, technology has gotten better with AVCHD. AVCHD is not as complicated like it used to be since more softwares been greatly supporting it for the past four years.

This camera doesnt offer enough manual control but I would say this camera is okay for family and fun filming but not for professional.

This has one of the best picture qualities ever with the three CCD's on it. I love using it and have recorded numerous shots just with the one 60 Gig hard drive on it even though you can add a memory chip to it. The battery last a long time as well. I would have added a mic input to it though then it would have been perfect for the novice film maker. However, the sound quality of the camera is great. I would buy this product again. Also, they have great customer service.

i set this up as soon as i got it, being super psyched! before this i had purchased the shift3 lightblast entertainment projector and was sorely disappointed. therefore, i decided to up my price range a little. i bought this for around 200$ and it was worth it. currently i have this set up approximately 12 feet from my screen. my screen is 5' across & tall.

pros

it has most any hook-up you could want.

it projects well enough even with a couple lights on, but projects amazingly in a dark room. it has better picture quality (both sharpness and color) than my old TV and my laptop combined!

it's easily set-up and you barely have to do a thing.

the warranty is amusing to read (the projector isn't covered if it is wrecked in a casualty... =P ).

the bulb is easily replaced.

it has both focus & zoom and both are easy and work very well.

it looks good.

it's pretty quite.

it has a remote.

cons

it kicks the fans on immediately and constantly runs hot, although this is a trend i've seen with every projector.

the sound output port is rather pathetic and insufficient to hook up to something such as surround sound, but there are ways around this (don't put sound into it and run the sound directly to your speakers)

it says it has a built in speaker system, it has a volume control, but the speakers don't work the best...

it needs time to cool down after using it (the fans run for an extra 2-3 min. after it's off).

Ive got to say, i was a tad skeptical at buying this projector. for a little under 400 bucks, i didnt know what i really was getting. I was getting mixed details about the projector, saying it was a xvga, then it says its a 720p projector. I didnt know if the 720p was a lie. Well, the truth is, natively this projector is a 4:3 aspect ratio xvga projector. But boy does it know how to push its limits! I attached a blue ray player via hdmi to this bad boy and it looked GREAT! The quality of the projector is really really nice in my opinion. not only does it have the hdmi port but it has vga, and a composite, and a sound in and out port too. I love this projector and watch all my movies on it.

It says its a 70in projector but im telling you with the 2800 lumens it has, you can go larger and STILL have a great image! i was projecting onto a 80in screen and it looked great and it could keep getting larger if i only had a larger screen!

i say, get this, you dont need the 600 dollar 720p projectors, i think this one does just fine!!!!!

The zoom lens helps a tad, but its hard to get a large picture when the screen is close. You would need to tape on a wide angle lens to do that, which i have done :) HAPPY SCREENING!

I ordered my OPTOMA projector because it offered high quality and versatility in terms of brightness (2800 lumens), and input formats. A nice bonus that I hadn't seen before is the VGA out, which I will use to string together multiple displays for my installations.

HOWEVER, What is sorely missing is a lens cover. Many other manufacturers' designs include a slider that opens/closes a lens cover or at least includes a removable lens cover. This had neither. It must be an oversight, because the TS551 comes with a travel bag which suggests that it is meant for portability.

I use this projector everyday for my PS3, Wii, Computer (movies and games), and Digital HiDef cable and it looks awesome on everything. Bright at night and during the day, and it goes past the 70 inch size. We have it mounted to the ceiling about 14-15 feet from the wall and it goes up to 130 inches without distortion. You don't have to look at it dead on either to see it you can see it from all angles clearly. The only bad thing I have noticed about it was that the audio out plug is bad it sounds all crackly and distorted but if you have your own surround sound system and you just hook up the video signal cords you will be fine.

Nikon COOLPIX S9300 16 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 18x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and Full HD 1080p

I'm sure I either have a bad copy...or some of the reviewing users here haven't put it through it's paces.

My problems:

1. S9300 will not lock focus when zoomed at or near it's maximum.

2. Selecting one of the Auto ISO ranges...125-800 ISO causes the camera to select very low shutter speeds, so that even with vibration reduction, if you are shooting people, the imgages are soft...appearing OOF...out of focus. (Unacceptable for this price range.)

3. The facial recognition feature, if used on anything but faces...will most often select something other than what you want to focus on...and since this is a menu driven feature, if you're switching between sceens, like at a birthday party, it's a pain to use.

4. Generally speaking, the images leave a lot to be desired across the board. And, this is the general consensus of online reviews...rating the camera a "C" as very average. I have to agree.

5. Portrait mode is way too cool...and there is no way to adjust the color temp in any mode except Auto. Or from the menu when in Auto...again, for the price, this is unacceptable.

6. And this is a biggie...I have lost confidence in the camera's ability to capture the shots that I want.

I tried to like it...I shot over 200 images...and very few were keepers. I had a Canon Elf S600...and it took better images than this model...and the Canon S600 is 4 years old.

I have called Nikon and asked for an RMA and am returning S9300 for a refund. Bottom line, for $349.00, this camera is a poor to average performer...yeilding good to mediocre images.

I don't disagree that if you are outside in bright light that it takes pretty good images...but, still not up to my expectations for the price tag.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this camera to friends or anyone else.

Like I said in my opening statement...I may have a bad copy. These are just my findings on the copy that I received...

Not a happy camper here...

UPDATE: Going on vacation soon and wanted a better point and shoot. Purchased the Nikon P7700 compact point and shoot. I am thrilled to say that this is more like what I was looking for when I bought the S9300. There are lots of external controls...more is better...such as a thumb wheel to adjust your exposure on the fly...way cool.

Image quality is first rate at this price point($399.00.) It is bigger than the S9300 and doesn't have the zoom range...but it does zoom optically to the equivalent of 200mm. Nice.

Just check out the P7700 here at Amazon...you won't be sorry.

I see Nikon has yanked the S9300 and replaced it with an S9500...so, reviews weren't wrong...to bad for current S9300 owners. I wonder if Nikon will be offering a discount on the new S9500, if you send in your S9300.

Bought this camera since i lost my canon powershot sd900. I only buy canon products but since nikon has been advertising the heck out of their products i thought i give it a chance. Overall this camera takes awesome photos. The in camera features are great as well. My only problem is that in order to review your photos you have to turn on the camera you just can't press the review button. When you do take a photo it takes forever for the preview to disappear. You can either have it on or off. With canon it gave you the option of 1,2 or 3 second preview. The last thing is that the flash is in an awkward place but as i was looking at the canon website every company is going to that format. I would recommend this camera to someone though.

Being a happy user of Nikon dSLR's and also my camera of choice for most stuff, there are still certain benefits in a good compact. My last compact being an olympus, which was a very disappointing experience. All the nikons I have owned in the past have always had a good build quality so that's what swung it for this one. The Lumix zs20 nearly got my money as it is also a fantastic compact with similar spec but i'm a sucker for the nikon brand so I took the plunge. First impressions were that it is smaller then I expected, which is a good thing to me as that is the point of a compact right. The build quality seems good as do the ergonomics. Have taken a few hundred shots with it and am very impressed. Low light shots are particularly good with very low noise. The 18 x zoom is silent, quick and very smooth with decent optics, my only complaint being that at the maximum reaches and the camera being so small it is hard to hold steady enough for a sharp image but that is probably the issue on any small camera with a long lens. Great glove box or travel camera that can be recharged from anything with a USB. Very pleased with it so far.

I bought this camera to use as a point and shoot camera when I didn't want to carry my SLR. Given that I have been so happy with my Nikon DSLR purchase, I thought I would by happy with this purchase. The design of the camera is terrible and the flash is located in a terrible place that is very inconvenient. The biggest problem that I have though is the fact that this camera takes mostly blurry pictures. I would think the idea of a point and shoot is that you can grab it out of your bag and just take a picture. I recently took a trip to colorado and took a bunch of pictures only to find that most of them had awful color balance and were extremely blurry. I really couldn't be more disappointed in my purchase and I am going to try and figure out if I can return it.

So I bought this camera 6 months ago and have used it steadily ever since. I've been a photographer for over 40 years and its a good quality device.

There have been no failures and I've had relatively little trouble learning to use it on the fly. (Although I admit I used the instruction manual once!) I've used the camera in below zero conditions in the snow, backpacking, in low light, in the rain as well as in bright sunlight. It performs excellently in all conditions, giving good crisp and clear photos. Of course, this means that you've actually taken the time to compose the shot ahead of time. No camera will compensate for poor set up. It has never froze, or given me an error message.

As with any new camera there are some things you have to learn to do differently. I've adjusted to the fact that the flash pops up under where I usually put my left index finger and never think about it.

I'd recommend the camera as a good all around camera.

SHORT VERSION:

Working Pocket Camera for a low price, I would recommend this camera (especially if you are looking for a cheap digital camera). I would not purchase this camera to take on your honeymoon or a spring break adventure. It is not waterproof and doesn't seem very durable compared to other pocket cameras.

Still the camera works great.

LONG VERSION:

I've owned around 30 digital cameras from all different brands including: Nikon, Canon, Sony , Panasonic, Konica-Minolta. I use the Canon rebel series cameras the most, but like to have a pocket camera from time to time. I have stuck with mostly Canon cameras over the last 7 years. Nothing against any other company, I just have liked using Cannon. I take daily photographs for a children's summer camp for 11 weeks out of the year. I'm rough on cameras and usually get around 3 years or less out of most of my Canon Rebel Series cameras... but that is not what I am reviewing today....

I haven't bought a Sony camera in about 7 years or so the last one was a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H5, which is 7.2 Mega pixel camera and not really a true pocket camera due to it's size....

Anyway, I wasn't expecting much from this lightning deal camera, but for the price I decided to give it a try. I've only played around with this for a day, so I may update this review later on. (If I don't, assume I'm still pleased with this camera)

FIRST IMPRESSION:

When I first held the DSC-W670 I thought I had gotten what I paid for in a cheap camera. The plastic seems a little thinner than most cameras and it didn't feel very solid. When you press on the case you can hear the plastic "creak" as it bends and flexes. (Not saying this is flimsy just slightly less solid than most) So I don't know how well this will hold up, given my track record of being rough on cameras.

WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT POCKET CAMERAS?

The one thing that can make or break a pocket camera is all the "bells & whistles" Some of these cameras have come up with cool gimmicks and even some useful tools so that any "idiot" can get some great shots.

I played around with a few of the features of the DSC-W670 I haven't really used much before on a pocket camera. The 1st was the panorama picture setting this feature has been out for a while on a lot of the pocket cams and is a cool gimmick. I guess I won't have to use the auto-stitch feature in Photoshop as much now.... The panorama setting works well on the DSC-W670. There are 3 settings: 360 degree photo, wide (which seems to be a little over 180 degrees) and standard panorama (which seems to be a little greater than 90 to 100 degrees).

To take a panoramic photo, just toggle the camera to that setting using a 3 position switch on the side use the menu button to select the size and then follow the on screen instructions to show you how to sweep your camera to the right. It tells you when to stop...

The other feature that I thought was cool, that I had not used before, was the `Smile Shutter" option. To activate this setting while in normal photo mode, press the button with the smiley face. The camera places a box around any detected faces. When the subject smiles, you will see a meter bar fill up on the left side of the LCD screen, and when the bar reaches the set level the camera automatically takes a photo for you (You never have to press any buttons). The default level is mid range and the subject needs to show some teeth in the smile to activate the camera to take the picture. So if you are trying to use this on someone who gives you a half smile, you will need to adjust the settings or be good at telling jokes....

This feature is a true gimmick feature I don't know that I would actually use this feature a lot myself. We did test it as an alternative to using a timer for group shots. It took a few tries to get it to go off, but it did work.

Everyone was laughing at me as we tested this. I said, "Ok everyone, come over here and don't smile at the camera, I want to get a group shot." Once everyone was set finally I said, "One, two, three ... SMILE" and we waited and nothing happened... "Ok try again, normal faces everyone... ok now 1,2,3 Smile!" The camera snapped a photo on that attempt.

I remember every Christmas growing up, we got a great shot of my uncle walking to get in the picture and was caught by the timer going off before he was set in place.... Might give this a try this year. I have a large family and this feature seems to work better when a little closer to the subject and when fewer people are in the frame... So I'm not going to expect too much, but if it works I'll come back and let you know.

ONE PROBLEM:

The only problem I have had with this camera is in the door to the battery and memory card compartment. It is spring-loaded like most of these cameras and has a lock that you slide to allow the door to open. In order to open my camera's battery compartment, I have to move the switch to the open position and then tap the camera in my palm to get the door to swing open. I think it is designed to open automatically, yet mine gets hung up almost every time. I've only had it pop open (like it should) a handful of times while testing it. There is nothing to grip to pull the door open, you just have to tap and shake it until it opens. I might just have a defective door. It was a cheap camera and I can live with this, so I'm not going to waste any time calling customer service or returning the camera. Although, this leads me to believe that the door may be the first thing to break on this camera. (remember, I said I'm rough on cameras...)

The battery has it's own lock inside the compartment, so it isn't pushing against the door like some of the other pocket cameras I've had. (Which I think is a good thing!) If you've bought and used several pocket cameras over the last few years, I'm sure you've had at least one with a battery door issue. I've got another camera that has the battery compartment held closed with a piece of duct tape.

FINAL THOUGHT:

A good pocket camera for the price. I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised at how well this camera works. Sometimes when a deal is too good to be true, there is a reason. I think this camera is truly a good deal. It is not as good as any of the $200+ pocket cameras, but I would have still been satisfied with this camera if I had paid as much as $140 for it.

I got this camera specifically to replace an old one and in anticipation of an international trip that would take us out of the country for three weeks ..... thru Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. Yes, very historical and photo worthy places! This was the ONLY camera we used and we shot over 800 photos. All but two were perfect and the two that weren't were not the fault of the camera but of the operators......The battery held up well we charged it only once a day and only with heavy use. The videos also came out well better if you have a tripod but there is decent stabilization built in. Get extra memory cards if you want to take a lot of photos (over 1000) and can't download and reformat between shootings.

I'm not a camera geek & prefer to use point & shoot cameras. I've been using my daughter's Cybershot DSC-W50, but she'll be moving out soon so I decided to purchase this Cybershot for myself. It was a $79 lightning deal. So for the price point this is a good camera.

I haven't printed any photos yet, but have added them to my laptop & the web. The LCD screen is grainy & bothers me, but the photos have been okay. The flash seems to be overly bright, but does a great job of taking pics in a low light area. Most of my early pics were taken at night with low lighting. (update-I just discovered that the LCD screen is grainy because it's the default setting which saves battery life. To change Disp. Resolution, choose MENU, scroll to the Toolbox icon)

A few settings are easy to access, many more are accessed by using the menu button & scrolling through the various options.

Several memory cards can be used. Here's a list of the ones that will take still images, as well as, video:

I uploaded a few photos that were taken in low light situations using the automatic setting.

I purchased the Case Logic DCB-302 Compact Case for Camera Black which has room for the camera, USB cord, battery & extra memory card. One thing I've noticed is that my camera has turned on a couple times while in this case. I searched for a hard case, but wanted more room so I decided on this one.

Battery life doesn't seem to be as good as my daughter's Cybershot. I haven't used my camera much and fully charged it after I took the first few pics the battery appears to be down by 1/2 already.

I will update my review when I try the Panorama feature & as I continue to use the camera.

UPDATE:

Macro seems to be part of the auto setting. From what I can tell, it can't be set manually. I did a little research on macro and learned that the minimum distance macro kicks in will vary by camera. The auto macro setting for this camera is designated by a flower icon & doesn't appear when I think it should & it blinks off easily. I have to experiment with minimum distance until the flower icon shows up. This frustrates me. Remember I'm not a camera geek so maybe it's user error on my part.

I also want to mention that this camera seems to take longer to focus than I'm used to.

And, finally, I suggest that you purchase at least one spare battery because the battery doesn't hold its charge very long.

This camera was purchased to be carried in a small purse. It serves that purpose well but like so many of it's kind could use a view finder. Looking at the screen in the sun can cancel out the viewing area and you have no idea where you are aiming. The button to take the picture isn't the easiest that I have used. I do like the zoom and the picture quality is fine. It is small enough that I can carry it in a small purse but for my more serious photography I prefer my mid-size camera.

Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens + 16

This is my first SLR camera and I love it. I did extensive research before purchasing the T3 and could not be more pleased. This kit is the best price on the market and it shipped very fast. The camera took amazing pictures right out of the box. I have two kids and the quick shutter speed is perfect when they can't/won't sit still. The action shots are crisp and high quality as well. I rarely use the flash even for indoor shots. The auto mode increases the ISO level and makes the pictures look soft and beautiful.

I also read Digital SLR for dummies and picked up some great tips on how to make my amateur pictures look professional. I would highly recommend the T3 and the value kit.

Buyer beware! The camera bag in the picture is not the camera bag that you receive with this product. The bag that you receive is much smaller and can barely fit the camera with just the one lens.

That being said... this is a great package. It's worth it just for the camera, the tripod (which is nice), the memory card, and the extra battery. I paid the extra 10 bucks for shipping and it arrived the next day so that was awesome.

Bottom line: great package, but the bag sucks. Be prepared to buy a different bag and factor that price into your decision.

First and foremost I ordered this item on a Friday and It came the following Monday, so shipping was excellent!

The camera in itself, the Canon EOS Rebel T3(1100D) is an exceptional camera for everyday and professional use. It has the capabilities of shooting with an Iso from 100 to 6400, it is comfortable to hold, very lightweight due to the hard plastic design, and the user interface is very easy to navigate.

The accessories, some good some bad. The SD Card is a 16 GB SDHC class 10, which is a very nice card, plenty of space when shooting just in Jpeg 12 Mp, it gives you well over 2000 pictures to take. The memory card reader is nice if you don't have an SD card slot on your PC. The Hdmi cord is a nice accessory but when I used it, it seemed to cause static noise on the picture on my hd tv. The tripod is an ok built tripod, when fully extended the lower legs are very thin and feel flimsy so take precaution when using this outdoors or near children. The bag definitely seems small, but It manages to fit the camera, an 18-55 MM lens that comes with it, and a 50 MM lens. I do recommend any user to purchase the Canon 50 MM F/1.8 lens. It is definitely a lens to have handy and its only around 100 dollars. As far as the lcd screen protectors, you have to cut it yourself to fit to the screen and they were really blotchy and bad when put on, so definitely pick up different ones or none at all if you take care of your equipment. Comes with an extra battery which is definitely handy when out and about. The table top tripod is actually really cool! Its so compact and structurally very well built. The memory card wallet is a nice addition too, not the best, a little tight, but definitely also comes in handy.

OverallFor the price that you get the Canon T3 with 18-55 MM lens, this is definitely a great pick up for anyone who is interested in getting a D-SLR and starting something new. This was hands down one of the better kits that the site has to offer for its price. But like I mentioned, picking up the Canon 50 MM f/1.8 along with this kit will make it worth your while!

We purchased this camera and Deluxe Accessory Kit for our honeymoon. The camera works well, just as you would expect a Canon product. However, the Accessory kit is a completely different matter. The Camera bag sholder strap broke within 1 week of use. This was due to the cheap plastic that attached the strap to the bag. After "fixing" the attachment with a metal link, the latch that holds the bag then broke. At this point I'm wondering what is so "DELUXE" about this accessory kit. I would not recommend the accessory kit, you would be much better purchasing a quality bag separately. We were very disappointed in the quality.

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III 21.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)

Well if you are looking at this fine piece of Photographic equipment odds are you have been to the Canon website and read the specs. I will touch on a few of the items I have noticed since I purchased mine and have been using it.

1st. The feel, just like the 1D M3, this beast is solid. Not too heavy, but solid in the hand. And here in Alaska, I do put the weather sealing to a test, and just like my trusty 1D M3, the 1Ds passes with flying colors.

2nd. Yes its 21.1 MP, but that should not be your main consideration to buy it. Yah 18x12 @ 300Dpi out of the Camera is nice, but nost people dont print over 16x20, and I have sold a lot of prints from my old 20D at that size or even upto 20x30, as long as you shoot it right in the first place. But this is also a drawback as well. Because of the large file size, esp in Raw, and most, if not all, buyers of this body will/should be shooting in raw, be aware that you will need larger CF cards for it. At least 8gig, I use 12Gig for mine, extreme 3's and they work great! Also be aware if you use the internal high iso noise processing, it slows down the buffering a lot!!!

3rd. Full Frame, just like the earlier 1Ds models its a ful frame sensor. That means 2 things, not only does a 17mm or 14mm lens again be a true wide angle lens, but also with the larger sensor the pixels are more refined and this gives better color and less grain.

4th. The colors of the images in the files. WOW Again the 14bit processors are great!!! Esp for raw, where you can import it in as 16bit for the finer details. One draw back is if you use Photoshop, you will need CS3 to do the raw Conversions, unless you use the Canon program.

5th. You are approaching the image quality of a Dig MF camera, with the portability of a Dslr! Not to mention you can use all the Canon EF lenses, and this camera really should only be used with L series lenses when possible, except for the fisheye as its not made in an L series but the quality is very good anyways. As the Quality of the optics is what affects the quality of the image the most, other than settings in the camera, ie shutterspeed and AV, ISO, etc...

6th. Wonderful Accesories for the camera. I love my wft-e2a. I use it on my 1D M3 a lot and it works great on the 1ds as well. Its a great way to control your camera remotely or to send your files to a remote computer for processing and such while you are still shooting.

This Camera is great. I have used the new nikon d3, and its a much improved camera over the past models, but it does not compare to the top of the line Canon!!!! This camera will not let you down. The noise if shot right is not even noticed until iso 1600 and then you still got to look. ISO 3200 is still great (about the same noise/grain my buddy had on his d200 at iso 400!!!!!)! If you are a Pro and need a camera that can perform the best and give wonderful results, this is it. It kicks butt compared to anything else in the DSLR market!!!

I owned this camera since spring of 2008,

So at the point of writing this review, I used it for nearly a year.

Now, if you are earlier owner, you might have experienced a problem or two.

I was unfortunately one of the owner experienced problem, and had to ship it back to Canon for the warranty repair. So, I was not exactly happy about paying expensive FEDEX freight.

But, rest assured, no other nasty problem occurred after warranty repair, and this camera has been workhorse of my photography.

Now, let get on the review.

This is really wonderful 21.1MP camera, and it is well worth the money.

But, you have to determine if you need to use one.

At the time of release, there were no other full size sensor camera with this resolutions.

Of course, it has been since passed by other manufacture... but I will not going to that comparison.

For Professional User.

Important thing about this camera is economics.

I own EOS 5D as well, and when non-commissioned or low paid project, I tend to bring 5D instead of 1DS MK3.

It is due to the fact, overall operational cost tend to be higher on the 1DS MK3 so if does not paid well, there will be no point to bring it out.

But, if it does paid well. there are enough justification to own this system, and you should used it as much as you can.

And this system is really reliable, once you get past some getting used to.

One more note,

Now I do own several different system including Hasselblad Medium format.

Medium Format Digital System is superior system when you are working in the control lighting environment. However, it is rather difficult to work with in the outside activity.

If you are studio photographer with magazine or commercial client, and do occasional out side shoot, you should own both medium format and this camera.

If you are professional just wondering about medium format and full size sensor camera,but without pressing need, then do not bother with medium format.

People who uses medium format digital normally has pressing reason such as satisfying client's specifications to own such system.

And it is not really versatile system no matter how medium format camera maker and digital back manufacture portray.

Canon 1DS MK3 is really versatile system, and it will satisfy most of design agency, publisher or stock photo agency's requirement, and L lens system are reasonably priced for the performance when looking at the economics.

For Semi Pro or High Amateurs User

For semi professional. 1DS MK3 is not going to make best economic argument, if you do not shoot studio.

If you are part time photographer who shoots mainly events or doing photo journalism.

I will recommend 1DMK3 over 1DSMK3.

Also, for photo journalist purpose, nowadays 5D MK2 actually makes a lot more sense than getting 1DS MK3 due to the their HD capability.

And for the photo journalist, it is not that good idea to carry bulky system.

But, for an amateur user with a lot of spending money,

It is one of the best system to get taste of what real pro are using.

And it does not cost like price of new BMW, and for the financially resourceful amateur, 7 to 8 grand may not be much of money.

When I got 1DS MK3 there were several amateur photographer I taught how to use this camera...

Surprising thing is, there are quiet many of amateur owner, and with very limited instruction to them,

They were able to create very good quality images.

So, kudos to the Canon for new 1DS MK3 interface.

It is actually easier for 1DS first timer than older 1DS MK2 for instance.

Of course, people who were used to with 1DS MK2 or older tend to disagree on this.

Now here are list of main advantage.

1. It is 21.1MP, more than most of commercial assignment requires.

2. Color depth of 14bit per channel is really useful for RAW work flow process.

3. Economical compared to the expensive medium format system, and still get comparable or sometimes superior result if conditions are right.

4. Build like tank, and it can take a quiet bit of abuse.

5. For user who are used to with 20D~50D, 5D MK1~MK2, it is really easy to learn interface.

6. Dust cleaning is really useful.

7. AF + Canon L Lens combinations is superior to the other known system in the market as of 2008-9

8. Liveview is useful to shoot architecture, land scape, and products.

9. RAW file format is supported well by the major commercial software.

10.CF slot and SDHC slot actually helps. It did not occurred to me until I run out of memory card on the locations, and had to run to the nearby local drug store. At least they carry cheap SD/SDHC at any large drug store chains, and it is a lot easier to find those store than locating nearby large electronic store...

11. Battery Life is excellent, it will easily cover half day events with nearly a thousand of picture even with taxing RAW + JPEG shoot.

12. Due to its weight and form factor, it is a lot easier to balance with long heavy lens.

13. When used with L lens, it is somewhat comparable with expensive medium format digital back.

14. Silent shutter mode is somewhat useful.

Now here are list of disadvantage.

1. It is slightly new form factor for Canon, and there are chance you had to send it to the warranty repair if you got the earlier production model.

2.There are something wrong with design of wireless port cap. It is relatively easy to lose one since it sometimes fell off with limited torque applied. I lost several of them already... though I stocked half dozen cap after I lost my first cap.

3. It is heavy and bulky. Thus some times not a ideal for certain situations.

4. Compared to Nikon D3X, it has slightly poor SNR on the third party software RAW processing software, so certain journalistic style shoot might suffer. If you shoot in the studio controlled lighting environment, that should not be a much of issue.

5. Many of RAW development software is actually more well tuned for Nikon, This might to be due to the amount of info Canon release to the third party software developer.

6. It is hard to justify its price for the many of users.

7. However everyone else claimed, it still can not replace medium format digital camera. Lens resolution and clarity of images is not there yet. Of course, that is when looking at 1:1 images side by side.

8. Silent shutter mode is not that quiet compared to some of the most quiet camera in the market. So, application such as close quarter Jazz or Classical music shot are still off the table.

If you are photographer that shoot tons of weddings at high fee structure, you should get one. Otherwise, EOS 5D nowadays makes very attractive choice.

If you are commercial photographer with clients and sufficient invest in Canon system, why are you waiting?

If you are amateur with deep pockets, this is a camera to get, and impress your photography teacher!

I will not recommend to someone,

Trek photographer who need lighter weight gear or those wild life photographer needs of faster fps should consider other offering from Canon.

Any journalistic style should consider 1D MK3 first unless you shoot tons of interview photo.

Shooting for hobby or fine arts purpose should really consider 5D mk2 before taking financial plunge of 1DS MK3

In every way Canon has done it again. This camera is lighter, faster, and produces bigger, better files than the mk2. If you make a living shooting pictures, buy it, you may never have to upgrade again. If Photography is your hobby or passion and you can afford it this should be your last camera.

My five favorite improvements in no particular order.

Faster and more accurate autofocus

Less noise at high ISO making 3200 a viable choice.

File quality that beats many 22MP medium format digital backs.

Live preview, it's cool, fun, and useful.

Improved handling due to lighter more balanced feel

Yes I know number three will get me in trouble but the price, faster handling, and much broader lens selection make it great choice in the 22 to 30MP range. The 39MP backs are clearly more detailed and smoother but this Canon will push many a P25 and H3D-22 onto ebay in the next year.

Canon has set the standard again the mk3 is truly brilliant. The only better deal may be the well cared for used mk2's easily found on ebay.

I just wanted to add a comment regarding cost. Now that my second mk2 has found a new home I can evaluate the true cost of an $8000.00 dslr. I paid $7300.00 each for my mk2s. Sold them for an average of $3620.00 making the cost if you add in an extra battery and firewire cables for three years around $4000.00 each. I anticipate this kind of return for the mk3s and considering they will work in a high demand professional environment for three years or so I'd say the mk3 is a ridiculous bargain.

By the way both of my mk3s have performed flawlessly and were spot on with regards to viewfinder alignment.

I've had the 1Ds Mark III for over a month now and have shot in churches, outdoors and in the studio. It excels in every environment. The first thing you'll notice is the immensely big, bright viewfinder. It barely feels like looking through something! The LCD display is very good as well. Build is very solid. I've used it with the Canon 85mm 1.2 II L and the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS L. Both deliver outstanding results and are hand-holdable. The new automatic dust-removal system is very good, leaving only a couple of spots against the blue sky when shot at small apertures, when there used to be countless on the 5D. Image quality is fantastic, and the images are huge, making cropping while retaining a big image easy. The menu system is very easy to operate, custom functions offer a plethora of options. Shutter sound is wonderful, and at 5fps very fast for 21MP. It's expensive for sure, but definitely worth it.

I am an advanced amateur and was using the 5D Mark I for the past 2.5 years. I loved the images but hated the focusing. In any kind of shot that involved focusing on a subject moving at walking speed, (or less) the 5D would fail to snap into focus. The second shot would never be in focus. In lower light situations (typical interior lighting, not candles), the 5D was even worse. Sometimes the focusing would force the lens to go to maximum close/distance as the 5D hunted for focus even when the lens was basically in focus to start this was guaranteed to miss the shot.

The 1Ds, on the other hand, is great at focusing. Super fast, subjects snap into focus quickly, and focusing continues onto 2nd shots and more. And it will focus on lenses that are 5.6 and above something the 5D did not do (try a telephoto with a filter or extender). From what I can read, the new 5D Mark II has basically the same focusing system so it is not improved in this area.

What kind of shots am I talking about? Shots of people,kids, basketball, soccer, bands, parades, candids on the street, street life, travel, animals in the wild or at home I would include most everything except still life/landscape photos. Generally any shot you would not be making with a tripod is a situation where the 1Ds' focusing is vastly superior to the 5D.

High resolution is great. But out of focus shots are not keepers.

Finally, the 1Ds Mark III is much more solid than the 5D everything from the controls to the shutter sound. I love this camera. My only wish is that it were the same size as the 5D since most shoulde camera bags don't account for its height. I don't mind the weight since the the weight of the lenses I am carrying is much heavier than the camera.

Panasonic PV-L651 VHS-C Camcorder

After close to a decade, my PV-L651 is still going strong after hundreds of hours of use. While it isn't DV or HD, this machine still shoots decent quality video in SP mode. The nice thing is being able to play back the tapes on a standard VHS deck with the included adapter cassette. The built-in LCD display is large and makes recording easy. I did replace the included battery with an extended capacity NiMH. The batteries for these Panasonics are readily available and cheap unlike some newer camcorders which use expensive battery packs only available from the OEM.

It has quite a few features including a basic titler, security recording mode (motion activated), and the little full function remote is handy when doing video diaries. Build quality is excellent, no wonder it's lasted so long.

The previous reviewer pointed out the built-in mike is not that great, I would agreebut then it's VHS-C so you're not going to get hi-fi stereo sound anyway. For the average person wanting to make videos playable on the millions of VHS machines still out there, this is a good choice if you don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a DV or DVD camera. They can be had on Ebay and Craigslist for less than 80 dollars. I just picked another one up off Ebay for $60 BIN.

This camera has exceeded all expectations. It's easy to use and takes great quality video. It's a VHS-C and is probably considered old school technology at this time, but when it comes to pointing the camera and taking video, this camera knows how to do it's job. It comes with the following features:

I am as pleased with this LG HX350T 720p Front Projector Black as I could possibly be. Video projection has been improving by the proverbial leaps and bounds and this particular one is an example of a type which didn't even exist just a few years ago.

It is essentially a PORTABLE giant screen television its image can be far larger than almost any other television you could buy and like those 'regular' flat-screen TVs, it has other video and computer capabilities thrown in! (It can even play directly from an external USB hard drive or USB thumb drive.)

Its dimensions are amazing: 2.4" height by 6.3" width by 5.3" depth, tiny by any standard (smaller, as I show in the video, than most portable radios). It is packed with many of the necessary cables or adapters most people will need (though it would have been nice had an HDMI cable been included too).

It even comes with a very well-padded carrying case which has plenty of room inside for the projector itself, its power supply, the included cleaning cloth, the supplied cables, and any other cables/accessories you may wish to carry about. The case offers plenty of protection against damage.

It uses a common video projection technology with a twist: DLP, which is familiar to many people, but, instead of a color wheel, with all its attendant faults (VERY noticeable "rainbow" effects, color fringing, noise, etc.), it uses LED technology, thus offering the best of both worlds: DLP without video artifacts.

However I do have to tell you that in certain rare circumstances I have been able to see some very minor "rainbow" color flashes; please note that I am unusually sensitive to such artifacts (my wife cannot see them). This may be due to the sequential nature of LED pulsing. In any case it is far less distracting than that of ANY "regular" color-wheel-equipped DLP projector I have ever seen. I think that many, possibly most, people will not notice any such artifacts at all.

As you'll be able to see in the video, the image it produces, even in daylight, is VERY bright indeed. At night, or in a darkened room, it looks even better! You need never worry about brightness there's all you'll ever need or want, night or day. (The brightness in the video is set to default, 50%.) As a matter of fact, if your image is smaller, you may even want to reduce the brightness.

Black and white images look really, really good and color images are truly spectacular. Unlike LCD 'flat-screen' televisions, there is no fall-off in light regardless of your viewing angle.

Its native resolution is 1024 x 768 (1.33:1) but it can be adjusted to different ratios, such as 1.78:1 (16:9 which is what I'm currently using) and some others. (I wish the projector's native resolution were 16:9 instead of 4:3 but this is not necessarily a disadvantage.)

As you can also see in the video, illumination is quite uniform across the image, with no bright or dim spots. There is no pixelation that I can see. And the image is sharp very sharp indeed. The fact that it is a 720p projector makes NO apparent visible difference when viewing 1080i television or 1080p Blu-ray discs, at least to my wife and to me. The large, sharp image is breathtaking.

As it uses LED technology, there is no actual projection bulb as with most other projectors. The LEDs, which supply the light output, are rated for 30,000(!) hours that means that if you ran it FOUR HOURS A DAY EVERY SINGLE DAY (with no exceptions), this projector would last for over twenty (20) years! And that's with no maintenance at all (other than an maybe an occasional wiping or dusting the case).

Connections? Just about any you could possibly need: composite video, VGA, HDMI, a USB port (for viewing of photos and documents, playing MP3 music files, watching videos), a means for connecting component video (the three-cable type), a 3.5mm (1/8") audio input, a 3.5mm headphone/external speaker jack, AND a coaxial antenna port.

Why an antenna (and cable) connection? Because this projector has its own TV tuner built-in! It can handle your cable connection or even an ordinary TV antenna; it will play any type of television signals available in the United States (including the old analog ones of which, at our location, we still can get two channels).

It has a 1.0 Watt/Channel stereo amplifier built in and, attached via its headphone jack to amplified computer speakers (or, as I am connecting it, to a stereo amplifier), it produces full, rich sound. (Obviously you can also use headphones.) Its built-in speakers are of little value, however.

Unlike most projectors with which I am familiar, this one is very quiet; I have it positioned right next to my reclining chair and I can barely hear it.

It turns on instantly; likewise it turns off instantly.

Any disadvantages? Yes one possible one. Its lens is of the fixed focal-length type rather than a zoom lens. That means that to adjust picture size, you must physically move the projector back and forth (just like in the old days with an 8mm home movie projector). Some people may find this to be a disadvantage in certain rooms.

But I think that this is a small price to pay. Fixed focal-length lenses are inherently sharper than variable focal-length (zoom) ones. And as this projector is so tiny, it is easy to move it to wherever you'd like.

It can be mounted on a stand, a table, a ceiling-mount, or (as it comes with the proper fitting) a tripod (as you'll see in the video). It can even be used for rear-projection (the image can be reversed).

As my room has a flat-white-painted wall, I need no screen. But even if you do need a screen, the additional cost is not too high.

This projector is as flexible a unit as can be imagined.

While as of this writing I have had mine for only a short time, I have watched a number of DVDs, Blu-ray discs, TV, and streaming video via this projector and I am very, very impressed.

For its portability, convenience, versatility, and maintenance-free operation, I think that this LG HG350T is one of the best of its type. Can it be matched? Maybe. Can it be beat? I don't think so. Did I mention that it appears to be constructed with the highest level of integrity? It is and that should be just another reason you would want one. (It comes with a 2-year warranty, parts and labor.)

Now think about this: I have mine mounted (in my relatively small room), approximately six and a half feet from the wall (as mentioned the wall is painted flat white). At the 16:9 ratio setting, I'm getting an approximately 68" (diagonal) image. 68"!

How much would a 68" flat-screen TV cost? A whale of a lot more than this projector does!

Since I created the video placed here, I have removed that old Proton video monitor and I now have the whole wall (between the wire sculpture and the painting seen in the video) to use. When I project using the native 4:3 ratio, the image diagonal is 72"!

And the viewing angle matters not!

Please consider that the size of the image I am getting is completely dependent on the size of my room, the available space on my white-painted wall, and the 'throw' distance available in my case 6 1/2 feet. If your room is larger, if your wall has more available space (or if you have a bigger screen), and if you can have a longer 'throw,' then your image can be much larger. I understand that creating a 100' diagonal image is no problem for this projector and you may even be able to achieve an even larger one.

The color settings "out of the box" are so good that, unlike with most video projectors, you may not need to 'tweak' the settings at all (though you can if you wish; a nice touch is that, if you totally 'mess them up,' you need only click on the Reset option in the particular setting's options and that setting instantly changes back to its factory default). In my opinion, these default settings are good enough for most people (including me).

There are also two "Expert" color settings with which you can experiment should you desire to do so. In their sub-menus are contained just about every color adjustment possible (and even these have the reset-to-default button). You could adjust these settings using one of those Blu-ray or DVD color calibration discs.

You can move this projector into any room of your house or even out of doors.

Personally I think that, if you are the least bit interested in having the largest, highest quality, image in your house, at a reasonable price, you should really consider buying this LG HX350T video projector.

Basically what I am saying is that, instead of buying a relatively cumbersome flat-screen television, why not buy this portable unit instead? It's much less expensive, it's much more versatile, and its picture quality is, at the very LEAST, the equal of any flat-screen TV I have ever seen (plasma or LCD). And the picture size is much larger.

I can't praise it highly enough. My wife and I, as well as a couple of friends, have been truly astounded by the capabilities and the video quality of this tiny LG projector. DVDs and Blu-rays looks superb as do TV and video output from a USB source. Sound is first-class. The price is amazing. And its portability is second to none. For what more could you ask?

I'd be willing to bet that if you buy one, you'll be as pleased with it as we are.

Olympus FE-3010 12MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 Inch LCD (Black)

This camera is a great value, with many shooting options and a compact size. I intend to use it for snapshots and I'm evaluating it as such.

The main reason I'm writing this review is to share some information about its video capabilities:

The camera can record audio but does not have a speaker, so in-camera playback will not have audio.

This camera does not include an XD memory card, and to store anything beyond the pathetic internal memory you will need to purchase one. XD cards can be type M, M+, or H. Type M has an access time too slow to let the highest-quality video write to the card, so you can only record 10 seconds of video in this case. I contacted Olympus and they confirmed that the M+ and H type cards circumvent this problem, allowing you to fill the entire XD card with movie data if you wish to.

This camera is a great buy! Everything you need comes in the package, except you'll have to buy an additional memory card (about $16 for 2GB). It works great and takes good pictures at night, in action, or for everyday use. It's small to fit in your pocket and has a new, sleek look. The settings are advanced and allow for every type of shooting. As a college student, this is a perfect camera. I have had no problems with it thus far.

I don't want to labor the points made by previous reviewers, but, the battery life is poor. The lack of sound on video is also an irritation. As someone else said, the picture quality isn't really that good; one shouldn't need to have the camera on the highest resolution possible to get just passable picture quality.

Positives: Lightweight; compact; more than reasonable software bundle and easy to use. Good zoom and image stabilization. Easy to navigate menu.

Negatives: Poor picture quality; non-standard memory card (have to mess with an adapter). Preferred shooting mode does not seem to save; every time you power on, you are back to the default. No sound on video. Poor battery life (it should not die from a full charge after shooting just 6 minutes of video).

I persevered with this camera for a couple of months. The bottom line for me was that the picture quality was much poorer than cameras very much older and far less expensive. This is probably the first and last Olympus camera that I will ever own.

I have since bought a Sony DSC-T90 and really, I could not be happier. I just wished that I hadn't wasted money on the Olympus FE-3010.

Honestly my iPhone takes better pictures. I can't really recommend this to anyone, but it is pretty simple to use. I figured out every option in about 20 minutes, so it seems intuitive. However I would really get something else, I only have this because it was free.
