Very opaque black. For lack of space, I once had to use it in fromt of a brick form-wall with fenestrations that created terrible patterns with daylight streaming through but and it completely shielded out this light and was totally opaque and absolutely black. I enjoyed using it!

These rolls of paper are great backdrop paper. Except one of the several that I ordered was ripped in a bunch of places ruining the first few feet. Not a huge deal, but worth noting.

My reasoning for the 3 stars is because of a few gripes I have. The main one being the management of the roll. Savage really should have spent a few extra bucks and given you a way to manage the roll of paper. By that I mean, the roll is wound so tightly when you set it up, that it wants to unroll the entire 12 yards at once. I had to McGeyver all kinds of ways to get this thing to stay in place and only unroll the amount I needed. It also has a tendency to get dirty extremely easily, especially in my case since it is setup in an unfinished basement. Overall though for the price you can't complain too much. The shipping was half the cost of B&H or Adoroma.
