Olympus SP-820UZ iHS Digital Camera (Silver)

Olympus SP-820UZ iHS Digital CameraI am an amateur nature/wildlife photographer, and I go out on hikes....sometimes long hikes.

My previous camera is an Olympus SP-800UZ which is powered by a re-chargeable ion battery (cell phone type). I bought two spares that fit easily into my pants pocket, and could be gone all day taking pictures and never worry about dead batteries. I love that camera....so when Olympus came out with this one I was soo excited, only to be disappointed.

This camera is powered by alkaline batteries, and it eats through them if you use the zoom at all! Four batteries last only about an hour and a half! So I would have to carry five pounds of alkaline batteries with me to get close to having enough power to take pictures all day.

If all you want to take pictures of is birthdays, holidays, and an occassional vacation, this camera is okay, and it does take good pictures. But if you want to go out for hours hiking and expect it to last....it wont. Yes, it is my fault. I didnt check to see how this camera was powered before I bought it. Shame on me....that wont happen again.

My wife and I were looking for a camera for Christmas and really wanted a Cannon SLR because of how quickly they took pictures and the view finder. However my wife told me she use to own an olympus and how great it was... it sure does live up to its name. The pictures take very quickly to where you don't have to wait forever long for it to load up. Zoom is great of course ( that is a given) but I'd say this camera takes pictures about as fast as the Cannon SLR's we were looking at in the stores and for a cheaper price. Trust me you wont regret this purchase. Also takes pictures very steadily even if your hand isn't steady! We love this product!!

Great pictures.light weight easy to use. I took pictures of the moon the othernight and they came out better than my friends SLR. The 40 X zoom brings subjects up real close. The HD movies are clear and crisp. Overall this is a great camera for the price.

Bad: The batteries don't last long and can't be recharged in the camera.

Pelican 1495 Black Computer Case with Foam (Black)

Pelican 1495 Black Computer Case with FoamGreat product. I took my 17in Alienware to Afghanistan in it and didn't have a problem with it. The case was in my Stryker when we had a roll over and my laptop was fine. With stood a year of dust, dirt, and high temps without issue. I used it as a stool at times and never scratched my laptop. There ARE issues though on the civilian side. The case weighs 11 lbs or so, then you have to add the weight of whatever you put in it, my laptop weighs 13 lbs, so you can see it's heavy. Next, it's pretty much too big to carry on a plane, it doesn't fit in most over head bins and it does not fit well under the seats in front on you. I ended up putting mine on the floor and then resting my feet ontop of it. Realise the deminsions and the weight. Short of that mine survived an IED blast so I think you'll be safe.

This case Fits a 17" monitor. Since I have a 15inch I have room for a spare battery, travel mouse and small periferals. Secure and crushproof. I can stand my 200lb self on the lid and it only bows 1/4 of an inch. Haven't had the guts to try it with a two tonne truck......

My ONLY gripe, and the reason I bought a slightly less pretty case {from the same company} is that in one dimension it won't make all airline travel space restrictions.

Accept no substitutes. Or "How much is YOUR data worth?"

Although it was a little bigger than I realized, it worked out perfect for me as I could also place other accessaries such as a camera and charger in the case. I'm in the military and when I go on a deployment I need a case that can be packed and tossed at a moments notice. The Pelican laptop case is nothing but proven durability.

I use this case to store my collection of handguns. It is solid and protects them well. The lock is of good quality. The foam inside works well to keep my guns in place. The military uses Pelican cases for everything in some very harsh environments so obviously they can withstand the abuses encountered here in the States. I recommend to purchase.

As a US Marine who goes out in the field, this case protected my Toshiba Qosmio laptop from the harsh elements of the mojave desert. I was running power from my light armored vehicle's power inverted and storing my laptop in this case. We did a ton of bumpy off road driving that would've destroyed my laptop if it had been in perhaps a backpack.

Panasonic PV-L354 VHS-C Camcorder w/20x Optical Zoom

Panasonic PV-L354 VHS-C Camcorder w/20x Optical ZoomI wanted a camcorder that was reasonably priced, not too large and with the ability to use a VCR tape that could go directly into my VCR. This camcorder more than met these requirements. The VCR-C tape goes into an adapter and can be immediately viewed on a VCR. You can dub a tape directly to the normal size VCR tape directly from the camera. There are great digital effects possible fading in and out of the picture in a number of different colors and shapes. It has both optical and digital zoom for a total of 70x. There is an image stabilizer for use when riding in a car or walking. Plus more features. Great LCD view screen.

With the newer digital and DVD recorders, this one may seem a bit out of date, but it is much more reasonably priced and is VERY EASY to use. The manual can be a bit unclear, but if you read it carefully, a few times, everything becomes clear.

Excellent product.

I am from the old school. So I not only loved the VHS recording format, but if I wanted to dip into modern day technology the photo feature on this particular model will allow me to. Compared to other camcorders under $250 the picture isn't as great but good enough! Remember you get the best of both worlds with this one!! It's easy to use and it's cheap!!!!!!!!!

I bought a Panasonic Camcorder a few years back. I continually got a Dew Detected message. Got that fixed and shortly there after the sound was intermitant as noted in so many other reviews here and elsewhere though I did not know it at the time. So I gave Panasonic another chance. I bought this model and it worked fine again for about a year or so...Then, Halloween comes around and the sound is not there, then there, then so low you can barely hear it then static then back. Needless to say as with others the moment was lost, FOREVER!

We bought this camcorder because we were going on Vacation to Disneyland and our other camcorder would not work. This camcorder is so much better than our other one was. When ever you moved the old camcorder to get various shots, it had to refocus, which took a few minutes. This one does not need to refocus. This camcorder is a little bit heavier than our old one, but it is easier to use. And the better quality makes up for the weight difference. This is a very good product and I will recomend it to a lot of people.

What a mess!! Last summer, I tried to tape some very special events and there was no sound. The very frustrating part was that it was a spuratic problem. One day it would work and the next day I got no sound. YOu never had any idea if it would work, which meant that some super special moments were lost forever. There was always a picture, but half the time there was no sound. I finally got so frustrated that I quit taping anything. Repair would be $175, so it is not worth fixing. I was glad to see that other people were having the exact problem, so I know it is not just me. My camera is going in the trash can. Don't buy this camera. YOu can't recapture those lost treasures.

Nikon D3200 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens (Red) + 55-300mm VR Lens + 32GB

Nikon D3200 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens + 55-300mm VR Lens + 32GB Card + Case + Filters + Tripod + Telephoto & Wide-Angle Lens KitFor over twenty years I have wanted an SLR. This package, after pricing nearly everything, was a find. I though too good to be true. And it is... AMAZING...everything in one box, ready to go and easy to use. I cannot believe my luck. I am so much of a novis I bought the Nikon for Dummies book. This deal is fantasic and it arrive right on schedule.

The Camera is very nice, only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is that you need to have about 1 month to read and watch videos about this, there is so much you can do with it witch is a plus but they need to make it easier for an average joe and work with it...

Very opaque black. For lack of space, I once had to use it in fromt of a brick form-wall with fenestrations that created terrible patterns with daylight streaming through but and it completely shielded out this light and was totally opaque and absolutely black. I enjoyed using it!

These rolls of paper are great backdrop paper. Except one of the several that I ordered was ripped in a bunch of places ruining the first few feet. Not a huge deal, but worth noting.

Want Savage 107 inches x 12 yards Background Paper (#20 Super Black) Discount?

My reasoning for the 3 stars is because of a few gripes I have. The main one being the management of the roll. Savage really should have spent a few extra bucks and given you a way to manage the roll of paper. By that I mean, the roll is wound so tightly when you set it up, that it wants to unroll the entire 12 yards at once. I had to McGeyver all kinds of ways to get this thing to stay in place and only unroll the amount I needed. It also has a tendency to get dirty extremely easily, especially in my case since it is setup in an unfinished basement. Overall though for the price you can't complain too much. The shipping was half the cost of B&H or Adoroma.

JVC GRD30 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD and 16x Optical Zoom

JVC GRD30 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5' LCD and 16x Optical Zoom..... I love it. The picture and sound quality are great, I dont think I could ask for more.

The battery it comes with is good for over an hour, which easily covers a 60 minute tape. Thats better than the default battery you get with a lot of other camcorders which are often in the 30-45 minute range. It lacks the remote control and USB/memory card you get with the 2 higher (and more expensive) models, but thats fine by me. It can still take stills, but its not a function I have any interest in. If I want good stills, I have a 2.2MP Kodak for that. Pretty much everyone knows by now that you dont get good stills off a camcorder, just as you dont get good video off a still cam. If its an included secondary feature, then fine, but dont expect the quality you get with a more dedicated device. I got this for the video, and its a wonderful thing.

It doesnt do too well in really low light, of course I wasnt really expecting otherwise. I have yet to ever see a digital camcorder that actually does great with inadequet light. It has a night mode, which does greatly increase the lighting, but it drops the frame rate terribly. It has another "backlight" function that can be handy for less than optimal lighting. But in reasonable-good lighting, you get wonderfull piture quality. It has a nice selection of transition effects built in, I still have yet to explore them all. The 16x optical zoom is cool. Its more than enough for me. The size of the unit is nice, not too big and not too small similar in shape/size to the canon ZR series, only this thing is of higher quality than the canon counterparts, especially where audio is concerned.

Now, Im sure this isnt the ideal model for everyone in every situation, but for the price, you'd be hard pressed to get this kind of quality elsewhere. There are $$$$ models that cant compare to this, so Im happy with the buy. Its pretty easy to use. Not too much of a learning curve. Not so many buttons that you get lost. Manual/automatic choices. Yeah, its a nice piece of work and I was surprised at how affordable it was. I would recommend this to most people.

I just got my GRD30 yesterday and spent a good amount of time with it last night. Overall, I think it is a very good camera for the price.

It wasn't made overly clear to me (until I read through the manual) what the real differences were between this model and the GRD70/90 models. The only differences I saw were that this model has no remote control (not a big deal for me) and doesn't have on-board memory chip for storing still images (again, not a big deal). What I do think is important to know, though, is that the GRD70/90 models accept DV INPUT and can record the DV input onto the MiniDV tape. Had I known that, I might have stepped up, but I'm not sure it's worth a hundred dollars.

Overal Pros:

The picture quality is excellent.

The CCD resolution is outstanding at this price point -50% higher resolution than most other entry-level models (what sold me on this camera).

The price (and, therefore the value) is excellent.

Battery life is better than average (>1 hr) and it fully charges in less than 1.5 hrs.

...and So-So's:

The zoom is adequate, but not spectacular.

There is some on-tape noise when zooming in and out, but it's not overwhelming. We didn't even notice it until we taped our dog running in the yard (with no conversation).

The image stabilization is merely okay. But, it is a worthwhile feature.

...and Cons:

There is NO on-board light, and the low-light functionality is not spectacular. I'm not sure how much that will come in to play down the road.

There is no auxiliary audio input, so the front-facing microphone is all you get.

If you're looking for an entry-level DV camcorder, you could do a lot worse.

Buy JVC GRD30 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD and 16x Optical Zoom Now

This is a standard-issue MiniDV digital camcorder in a very stylish body. While not one of the small pocket-size types -incidentally those are often awkward to operate and susceptible to hand shakes -the GRD30 is still small enough to be highly portable. All the standard features of a digital camcorder, from digital tape to fold-out LCD screen to IEEE 1394 "Firewire" connections, are there, and JVC also claims superb video image quality. The 16x optical zoom is higher than many other camcorders. (When choosing a camcorder or digital camera, pay ZERO attention to digital zoom claims, since digital zoom is entirely useless. Only optical zoom power counts.)

An attractive price, especially here on Amazon.com, makes this a top buy.

I purchased this camcorder strictly for two reasons. One, the price was exceptional. At first, I thought quality might suffer, but what the {heck}, buy it anyway. The second reason was to get a camera that I could carry around with me all day. And if it got banged up, or run over by an eighteen wheeler, no great loss. Upon receiving the camera, I opened the package, loaded a cassette and started shooting. This is one great little unit. The picture quality and sound were amazing. People complimented me on such colorful and crisp footage. I now view this camcorder right up there with the more expensive Panasonics. In the creation of this camcorder, JVC performed a really wise concept. They left all those features that you and I never use OFF this camera. We're talkin' bare bones here, and that's just fine with me. Buy this one, make your movies, and let it bang around a bit. For this great price, you cannot lose.

I've not owned a camcorder for about 12yrs. I'm glad I waited until now to buy a MiniDV. I'm a Windows user and was not sure how XP Pro would like this JVC. It's was easier than I thought! No PC video software included unless you loaded the Demo software and buy it. I connected the FireWire to my PC. I already had an IEEE 1394 port on my SB Audigy2 sound card. Powered it on. XP Pro surprised me! It knew the device and the model. Then Windows Movie Maker app loaded with all the basic controls as the camcorder on screen for my enjoyment. Coolness + some basic tools to make .wmv's from clips I recorded of the video footage taken or insert .jpegs from our Digital Camera into the movie I was putting together.

JVC MiniDV GR-D30, got its first work out at the Indy 2003 USGP F1 race. Took some video & Digital Photo's of the race. We set up the GR-D30 with the Sport mode & Clouds. Race was overcast and at times did rain. Video came out very nice and the long life battery (5hrs)was a good decision for this 2hr event. I put together a highlight movie 4:23 min. 320x240 16bit @ 705kbps total file size 20.5mb.

I've always liked JVC it's been my choice in TV's & Home Theater Audio. I like the JVC MiniDV and ease of use with PC's.

LG HX350T 720p LED Front Projector with Digital TV Tuner

LG HX350T 720p LED Front Projector with Digital TV Tuner
  • The HX350T offers XGA resolution in a small compact size and comes with a carrying case
  • The projector provides a bright image (300 lumens) but is still extremely portable weighing in at 1.7 pounds
  • The built in file viewer allows you to view Microsoft Office documents, images and DivX videos without having to connect to your computer
  • 30,000 hours of lamp life means you will likely never need to replace the lamp
  • The built-in ATSC digital TV tuner allows you to use your projector like a big screen TV

I am as pleased with this LG HX350T 720p Front Projector Black as I could possibly be. Video projection has been improving by the proverbial leaps and bounds and this particular one is an example of a type which didn't even exist just a few years ago.

It is essentially a PORTABLE giant screen television its image can be far larger than almost any other television you could buy and like those 'regular' flat-screen TVs, it has other video and computer capabilities thrown in! (It can even play directly from an external USB hard drive or USB thumb drive.)

Its dimensions are amazing: 2.4" height by 6.3" width by 5.3" depth, tiny by any standard (smaller, as I show in the video, than most portable radios). It is packed with many of the necessary cables or adapters most people will need (though it would have been nice had an HDMI cable been included too).

It even comes with a very well-padded carrying case which has plenty of room inside for the projector itself, its power supply, the included cleaning cloth, the supplied cables, and any other cables/accessories you may wish to carry about. The case offers plenty of protection against damage.

It uses a common video projection technology with a twist: DLP, which is familiar to many people, but, instead of a color wheel, with all its attendant faults (VERY noticeable "rainbow" effects, color fringing, noise, etc.), it uses LED technology, thus offering the best of both worlds: DLP without video artifacts.

However I do have to tell you that in certain rare circumstances I have been able to see some very minor "rainbow" color flashes; please note that I am unusually sensitive to such artifacts (my wife cannot see them). This may be due to the sequential nature of LED pulsing. In any case it is far less distracting than that of ANY "regular" color-wheel-equipped DLP projector I have ever seen. I think that many, possibly most, people will not notice any such artifacts at all.

As you'll be able to see in the video, the image it produces, even in daylight, is VERY bright indeed. At night, or in a darkened room, it looks even better! You need never worry about brightness there's all you'll ever need or want, night or day. (The brightness in the video is set to default, 50%.) As a matter of fact, if your image is smaller, you may even want to reduce the brightness.

Black and white images look really, really good and color images are truly spectacular. Unlike LCD 'flat-screen' televisions, there is no fall-off in light regardless of your viewing angle.

Its native resolution is 1024 x 768 (1.33:1) but it can be adjusted to different ratios, such as 1.78:1 (16:9 which is what I'm currently using) and some others. (I wish the projector's native resolution were 16:9 instead of 4:3 but this is not necessarily a disadvantage.)

As you can also see in the video, illumination is quite uniform across the image, with no bright or dim spots. There is no pixelation that I can see. And the image is sharp very sharp indeed. The fact that it is a 720p projector makes NO apparent visible difference when viewing 1080i television or 1080p Blu-ray discs, at least to my wife and to me. The large, sharp image is breathtaking.

As it uses LED technology, there is no actual projection bulb as with most other projectors. The LEDs, which supply the light output, are rated for 30,000(!) hours that means that if you ran it FOUR HOURS A DAY EVERY SINGLE DAY (with no exceptions), this projector would last for over twenty (20) years! And that's with no maintenance at all (other than an maybe an occasional wiping or dusting the case).

Connections? Just about any you could possibly need: composite video, VGA, HDMI, a USB port (for viewing of photos and documents, playing MP3 music files, watching videos), a means for connecting component video (the three-cable type), a 3.5mm (1/8") audio input, a 3.5mm headphone/external speaker jack, AND a coaxial antenna port.

Why an antenna (and cable) connection? Because this projector has its own TV tuner built-in! It can handle your cable connection or even an ordinary TV antenna; it will play any type of television signals available in the United States (including the old analog ones of which, at our location, we still can get two channels).

It has a 1.0 Watt/Channel stereo amplifier built in and, attached via its headphone jack to amplified computer speakers (or, as I am connecting it, to a stereo amplifier), it produces full, rich sound. (Obviously you can also use headphones.) Its built-in speakers are of little value, however.

Unlike most projectors with which I am familiar, this one is very quiet; I have it positioned right next to my reclining chair and I can barely hear it.

It turns on instantly; likewise it turns off instantly.

Any disadvantages? Yes one possible one. Its lens is of the fixed focal-length type rather than a zoom lens. That means that to adjust picture size, you must physically move the projector back and forth (just like in the old days with an 8mm home movie projector). Some people may find this to be a disadvantage in certain rooms.

But I think that this is a small price to pay. Fixed focal-length lenses are inherently sharper than variable focal-length (zoom) ones. And as this projector is so tiny, it is easy to move it to wherever you'd like.

It can be mounted on a stand, a table, a ceiling-mount, or (as it comes with the proper fitting) a tripod (as you'll see in the video). It can even be used for rear-projection (the image can be reversed).

As my room has a flat-white-painted wall, I need no screen. But even if you do need a screen, the additional cost is not too high.

This projector is as flexible a unit as can be imagined.

While as of this writing I have had mine for only a short time, I have watched a number of DVDs, Blu-ray discs, TV, and streaming video via this projector and I am very, very impressed.

For its portability, convenience, versatility, and maintenance-free operation, I think that this LG HG350T is one of the best of its type. Can it be matched? Maybe. Can it be beat? I don't think so. Did I mention that it appears to be constructed with the highest level of integrity? It is and that should be just another reason you would want one. (It comes with a 2-year warranty, parts and labor.)

Now think about this: I have mine mounted (in my relatively small room), approximately six and a half feet from the wall (as mentioned the wall is painted flat white). At the 16:9 ratio setting, I'm getting an approximately 68" (diagonal) image. 68"!

How much would a 68" flat-screen TV cost? A whale of a lot more than this projector does!

Since I created the video placed here, I have removed that old Proton video monitor and I now have the whole wall (between the wire sculpture and the painting seen in the video) to use. When I project using the native 4:3 ratio, the image diagonal is 72"!

And the viewing angle matters not!

Please consider that the size of the image I am getting is completely dependent on the size of my room, the available space on my white-painted wall, and the 'throw' distance available in my case 6 1/2 feet. If your room is larger, if your wall has more available space (or if you have a bigger screen), and if you can have a longer 'throw,' then your image can be much larger. I understand that creating a 100' diagonal image is no problem for this projector and you may even be able to achieve an even larger one.

The color settings "out of the box" are so good that, unlike with most video projectors, you may not need to 'tweak' the settings at all (though you can if you wish; a nice touch is that, if you totally 'mess them up,' you need only click on the Reset option in the particular setting's options and that setting instantly changes back to its factory default). In my opinion, these default settings are good enough for most people (including me).

There are also two "Expert" color settings with which you can experiment should you desire to do so. In their sub-menus are contained just about every color adjustment possible (and even these have the reset-to-default button). You could adjust these settings using one of those Blu-ray or DVD color calibration discs.

You can move this projector into any room of your house or even out of doors.

Personally I think that, if you are the least bit interested in having the largest, highest quality, image in your house, at a reasonable price, you should really consider buying this LG HX350T video projector.

Basically what I am saying is that, instead of buying a relatively cumbersome flat-screen television, why not buy this portable unit instead? It's much less expensive, it's much more versatile, and its picture quality is, at the very LEAST, the equal of any flat-screen TV I have ever seen (plasma or LCD). And the picture size is much larger.

I can't praise it highly enough. My wife and I, as well as a couple of friends, have been truly astounded by the capabilities and the video quality of this tiny LG projector. DVDs and Blu-rays looks superb as do TV and video output from a USB source. Sound is first-class. The price is amazing. And its portability is second to none. For what more could you ask?

I'd be willing to bet that if you buy one, you'll be as pleased with it as we are.

I sincerely thank each and every person who has taken the time to read this, to watch my video, and who has considered my opinions.

Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCD (Silver)

Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCDThe resolution and size of the screen on this camera is absolutely incredible. Pictures and video look really sharp. Screen is anti-reflective too. HD video is outstanding. Taped a table tennis match, the video and sound were both extremely clear and the movement was incredibly smooth, due to the 30 fps. I am not so impressed with camera's auto mode, while indoors, yet. Colors were off, maybe due to the white balance and low light. I find myself using the "P" mode mostly and making small adjustments to the white balance and adjusting the "my colors" section. Overall its a beautiful looking camera and feels good in the hands. I like the two tone color scheme. You have to watch your fingers, on your left, hand so they don't block the flash, it's very easy to do.

Update: Digital Zoom.

Most people advise you to disable digital zoom because of the resolution degradation when using it, however on this camera the digital zoom is fantastic, with very little resolution degradation seen and digital zoom can be used while in Video mode.

Update Foliage Program mode,8/2009:

I have been using the foliage mode for outdoor scenic shots lately. In this mode the greens, blues, are brilliantly enhanced making scenic pics pop out with bright color, some may like or dislike for the colors do not represent the true colors viewed. I like this mode, especially if the light your shooting in is not right, this mode will brighten the colors and make your photo less boring. I recommend previewing each shot before you move on to make sure the colors are not too saturated. I found that as the light changes this may happen.

Update: March 2010

Get the Canon S90, much, much better camera than the SD970,. The S90 also has low light sensors that make any indoor picture almost perfect. With the S90 you get professional results!

This review is to help those who are deciding between Canon SD970 and Canon SD960.

.................SD970......SD960......Comment

Optical zoom...5x..........4x..........Plus

LCD size.........3"..........2.8"........plus

LCD dot ......461k........230k.........Big plus

Zoom Blur......yes ........no..........no

The 5x optical zoom makes the picture 50% larger. So, I think it is a worthy improvement. However, it is offset by the wider angle lens of SD960.

The LCD size and resolution are a very worthy improvement. Although it is 3" vs 2.8", the actual screen sizes are quite different because SD970 has 4:3 aspect ratio and SD960 has 2:1 aspect ration. For normal 4:3 pictures, SD960 can only use 2/3 of screen to show the picture while SD970 uses all screen. With twice many pixels, you can view the pictures quite well. It is almost better than most of small stand-alone picture frames in the market. I actually can use SD970 as a very comfortable reading glasses for the fine print on the medicine bottle. I played one SD960 in a store and I can not see whether the picture was in focus very well.

The zoom blur did not produce great pictures, although it was fun to do.

I think the price difference (~$65) is a little bit large for the performance difference. But, I do enjoy the differences.

Other comments:

(1) mini-HDMI cable: I was not aware how great the HDMI feature is until I bought one cable from a local store. It is a great experience that many people can view the slide show and HD video on your HDTV. Although I complained about how expensive the cable was. But, the experience justifies the purchase of the cable. I bought a cheaper 3rd party HDMI cable and it works well.

(2)Sound quality of HD video:

I guess Canon engineers just did not have room to put the microphone at the front surface of the camera, they put it on the top which can be easily covered by your fingers. But, the more annoying issue is that, because the top surface is tilting backward, your voice becomes much louder than the people in front of you. In addition, you need to make sure your hands do not rub the camera when shooting. Otherwise, noise will be generated.

If you zoom when shooting video, the camera performs only digital zoom. And, it will record a quite noticeable noise when the zoom action stops.

Overall, I still rate this camera 5 stars because it is well designed and built. The user interface is better than my 4-year-old Canon S3 IS and is

far better than other brands.

Finally, it was very amusing to see how hard my brother-in-law had to try to prove his >$5000 Canon 5D dSLR is still a far better camera than this little thing. Yes, my SD970 lost in most of picture quality categories. But, it did not lose without a decent fight. At the end, my sister-in-law is thinking of buying a SD970. So, it lost a battle but won a heart!!

SD970 is a camera for two person, one want to just point and shoot for precious moments and one wants to use the program mode to make great pictures.

First off, be aware this camera comes with no memory card, so unless you want to be like the kid that got a battery-powered toy for Christmas, and no batteries, plan ahead! Also, the A/V cable included is for standard RCA video inputs, which is fine, since almost everyone has something to plug that into, but for the HD output, you'll need the optional Mini-HDMI Cable. I've tried both cables, and if you have an HD TV, you'll want the HDMI cable.

The manual is pretty brief; it omits some information such as how to set the "owner name" in the camera (hint: use the "Camera Window" software and click on the magic icon in the upper right corner), and how to upload custom startup images and sounds for the camera operations. The manual was obviously not proofread by a native English speaker, and many parts tell you what a setting is, but not how to get to that feature. There appears to be about 3 different types of menus, depending on the mode.

Now for the neat stuff! There are 3 modes, video, camera, and auto; the main differences between camera and auto are that auto mode trys to figure out everything; and does a pretty good job. Portrait? Landscape? No problem. The camera mode lets you fiddle with everything, and has several preset modes for common situations, and for fine-tuning things like white balance, and ISO speed. These various "Program" features have an auto-preview of the effect when browsing through the menu choices, which is a nice touch.

You cannot set aperture priority nor shutter priority, but you can give it some hints to approximate this; there is a "kids & pets" mode that obviously is high shutter speed priority.

I've taken about 100 images in the last couple days, and have been very pleased with the results. The digital zoom image quality is fantastic. I needed to use a tripod on a cloudy day when the effective zoom was 20x, but the resulting image showed no jaggies at all. The macro focus worked so well, that when I tried to move the camera a little closer in, the lens hit the sidewalk!

Viewing photos and videos on the camera is pretty easy. It will automatically group photos into categories based on the auto mode (portrait, etc.) or you can put photos into categories manually, to filter what you want to see. The "shake" method to advance from one photo to the next didn't work too well for me; I had to give it a pretty good shake, and I couldn't seem to have it go backward. The auto-rotate feature for viewing photos taken in portrait orientations works great.

The video function works easy and you can upload the videos to your PC (in .mov format), and the software can convert it to .avi format also.

I bought the SD970IS camera after weeks of doing research online and physically going to electronic stores to view the cameras in person. The three cameras that I was choosing between were the Canon SD780IS, SD960Is and finally decided to buy the SD970IS and here's why:

When I started looking I first read reviews on cnet.com and amazon.com. Cnet.com gave all the models a good to very good rating, however they didn't like the price to feature ratio with the SD970IS but everything else was great. The retail price for the SD970IS is $379.99 and I guess based on that price I would have probably not bought it, but as always I researched the pricing online and amazon.com once again had the best price at the time which was . At the time everyone else including buy.com, bestbuy.com and even ebay was selling it for close to full retail.

I previously owned a Nikon S50c and it worked fine it just seemed like a camera that you had to "baby" and didn't fit comfortably in your hands. The SD970IS is not as compact or slim as my old Nikon or the SD960IS or the tiny SD780IS but it can still be placed in a pocket. The most important thing is however that it feels great in your hand and doesn't seem fragile like the Nikon or the SD780IS.

I've been using the camera now for a couple of weeks and so far here's my list of pros & cons (very few):

PROS:

1. 3.0 LCD inch display with double the resolution of all three cameras.

2. HD Video is amazing with HDMI out

3. Picture quality is amazing including the 5x optical zoom and even the total 20x digital zoom is great.

4. Battery life is much better than any other cameras I've owned (approx. 250 shots)

5. "Blink" indicator that works great if someone blinks

6. The auto feature on the camera (I know that some reviews state that this function doesn't work very well, however I never take it off this setting because it adjusts to every shot automatically and I haven't had any issues with picture quality in this mode.)

7. Menu navagation is very simple and straightforward.

CONS:

1. Slightly bigger than I'm use to but still very compact

2. Noisy when zooming in and out (may be due to 5x optical zoom)

I am a big canon fan and have been patiently waiting for the release of the SD970 since canon's announcment prior to the 2009 PMA. In the following review my basis for comparison is the new sony w290 and my experience owning a canon SD700. I sent the SD970 back to Amazon after using it for about 1 hour.

What is good:

1.Great screen

2.Solid feel, amoung the best I have seen for an ultracompact

3.Picture quality is the best of the ultra-compacts that I have seen

4.You can program one of the camera buttons to perform functions as you wish. I used this feature to start the video mode

What is not so perfect:

1.After focusing, there is an annoying delay when pushing the take picture button. So when you have that perfect moment when your kids are finally smiling and push the button you have to wait about a third of a second. It does not sound like much but it is the difference between getting a great photo and an okay one. The picture quality is outstanding, but if you can't capture the moment it just does not work for me. The sony w290 which does not take the same consistant quality of pictures does react much faster.

2.Filming in HD. The camera allows you to zoom in and out but when playing back the clip you can hear a significantly irrating sound similar to someone eating potato chips right next to you. This is not cool and was a big disappointment. (the sony w290 does not allow any zooming if you assume that having the ability to zoom and an annoying sound is better than not having the ability to zoom you'd be wrong, its that annoying)

3.There is no continous shooting mode while in the Auto-everything setting. So if you are like me and like to hold down the capture button to make sure take a few photos you are out of luck. The sony w290 lets you do this.

Summary

Great photo quality, but disppointing delivery. My personal conclusion and recommendation is to purchase the sony w290 (basically the same features), which does not take quite the quality of pictures but will allow you to snap photos in continous mode and much faster response times on snapping photos.

Sony HXR-NX30 Palm Size NXCAM HD Camcorder with Projector & 96GB HDD

Sony HXR-NX30 Palm Size NXCAM HD Camcorder with Projector & 96GB HDDI sometimes shoot high-end videos for my company with dSLRs to get beautiful, shallow depth of field, but I bought this mostly for my family. I have 10 grandkids under the age of 7 and you can't follow them around with a dSLR and catch all the action without being out of focus and shaky. To my surprise, the footage looks so good from this camcorder I can use it for certain commercial footage too.

Its #1 feature is the floating lens. It's so freaky to look at the lens while moving the camera back and forth and see how it absorbs the shake more than any camcorder ever has that I know of, by far. Where the floating lens is most amazing is when you zoom long and you're trying to hold steady but your shaky hands can't quite get it still enough. They can now. It has a 17x zoom, so long is really long.

What I expected is it would provide a look like a Steadicam does. Unfortunately, it's not really that and it took me awhile to understand why. For one thing, it's so light that it's easy to rotate it right or left as you're walking or running with it and it's hanging down by the handle. A steadicam doesn't roll right or left easily because it has a long vertical axis. The floating lens doesn't prevent that. Also, since it's so light, it's easy to move it up and down, side to side, and the floating lens only partially helps that. It's the shake when zoomed in and you're holding it fairly still but the lens is so long that it normally would make it all shaky where it seriously smooths out the shake. In other words, actually moving it sideways is not where the floating lens helps so much; it's when you rotate it left and right quickly that it does.

Since the sensor is small, you don't get shallow depth of field like you do in a dSLR, but for run 'n gun chasing children, doing documentaries, shooting action, etc., when you want things in focus and sharp, it's seriously good at that. It's surprisingly good at low light but not like a Canon 5d MKII or MKIII. The sound is awesome. It's really simple to use and the white balance, auto exposure and auto focus are amazing. I can't understand how they made it so great with so small a unit.

The only annoyance for me is getting the video off the internal memory is a pain. I had to use that funky Sony cable that it comes with that I lost, and hook it to an external drive formated with a FAT file system. I finally figured it out, but I use a Mac and it was such a pain I ended up just using memory cards. I'm told you can import into Final Cut X, but I couldn't even get it to recognize my MacBook Pro Retina.

A feature that seemed like pure gimmick to me is the projector. You can project onto a wall or car or something what you just shot. Oh my gosh. My kids and friends are addicted to that. I would sometimes shoot amazing footage on a Disneyland ride because it smooths out the shakes so well, then entertain everyone in the line by projecting the footage.

A month after buying it and shooting nonstop for two straight weeks with it, I'm still in awe of how good it is. I'm usually a very tough critic of camcorders because this is the first one I've really loved after having owned and sold 8 of them.

I bought this camera for my business and with new technology very skeptical when cameras go compact. I took a chance and bought it with very few reviews. Using 3-CCD cameras this little had many of my peers had doubts this would do anything but professional filming. When it finally arrived, I had them look over the controls, the touch screen, the options, settings. They were all impressed with this little package from a cosmetic view and economically felt really nice to handle. On my first shoot, I had to get used to the different locations of the buttons and focus knob. I found focusing very easy and used a HDMI external monitor. I also used a couple wired Lav's for my piece and found all the controls as easy to use as the bigger models. The biggest surprise was the low light quality and setting the camera to low lux on, it picked up colors that my other cameras would not. In a small room with a 80watt bulb, it did a terrific job. The floating lens is also a fantastic feature of this camera and the light weight meant I could maneuver it much easier in tight areas.

After the shoot, it was fun to project the video to my client. They were surprised as I was to have this feature and the quality of the built in 24mp camera pics really made a big impression. I found this camera identical to its Sony HDR-XR520V with a smaller internal memory (compared to 240gb), has the same internal GPS but without maps, has a mechanical floating lens, bigger capacity battery and added the dual XLR handle. The better processor with a 24mp camera is amazing. The pictures are crisp and saturated very nice. The extra L.E.D fill light/flash is also a bonus. Overall, this is a great camera and 1/2 the cost of 3-CCD that beats our current camera in capturing low light situations and the useable bells and whistles make it a perfect small business pro equipment must have.

Cons: Using the eye piece that small is unrealistically unusable. They could of knocked off another $25 to keep that off the camera and leave the LCD. The touch screen feels old and outdated compared to my smart phone. The lens hood lock and release is a joke. Otherwise, the external mic and built-in mics are very good. Because I have large hands, I found slipping it into the handle sleeve a bit cumbersome so I bought a threaded pistol grip that worked quite well. I will be buying a couple more.

Buy Sony HXR-NX30 Palm Size NXCAM HD Camcorder with Projector & 96GB HDD Now

This is a really great camcorder. It is the camcorder with the built in steady cam. I've noticed this: you can film under fluorescent lights with camera set in auto white balance, and the colors will turn out PERFECTLY. Never seen anything like this before. This is really a camera with a built in steadycam. If you've ever tried to use a steadycam, you'll know how difficult they are to balance and operate. Not with this camera. Very difficult not to get a steady shot every time. Steady walking, steady everything.

I am a motion graphics designer and bought this camera for graphic uses. It's small, has great features, and is easy enough to use by a non-professional videographer. Works great with my Mac, the camera is recognized and I can just drag the files to my computer. The files import easily into After Effects which is my app of choice.

Clams to be 1080 hd but that's not true movies are not hd , not clear like hd an the camra for still pic. (jpg) are super blur and n zoom it gets worse, I'm not happ with this cam all pic & movies are low resoloution. I purchased it because it clamed to be Hd, if you looking for a Hd Cam this is not it al so it don't record some times when it set to loop, an most of the time when you hit the record button, it says to insert the sd card , some times you can hit a second time an it will start to record, most of the time I have to pull the sd card out an reinsert it,, over all it's easy to set up an operate, the windshield mount not good for big trucks (most truck windshields are al most strait up an down) not enough clearance for the cam to clear windshield , I would not recommend this cam and I looking for another one, also theres a lot of fake f900LHD out there checked this one out seems to be a fake, suspose to record in mpg format but AVI instead, over all it's not what they claim to be, and I'm going to send it back

The booklet that came with this was in English but was POORLY written. You really could not use the booklet to program the recorder. The recorder itself has instructions in Chinese. I am sure there was a place to go to change it to English just could not find it.

Not to happy with it, works but not user friendly. I am still trying to figure it out and have had much experience with digital cameras (first September 1998). Not pricey, but far from exceptional also, watch out for hidden shipping fees, like they did with me.

NetVue NI-1200 IP Waterproof Video Camera (Ivory White)

NetVue NI-1200 IP Waterproof Video CameraI was looking for such a product for quite a while. I studied several products of different brands, like Logitech and Dropcam. Eventually, I decided to buy a NetVue one. I'm happy with this product. It does everything it promises.

It is a very convenient product, allowing me to monitor what happens in my house instantaneously when I am outside. I installed the app in my iPhone. The camera resolution is good enough, and the picture is clear to see what is going on the other side.

It is quite simple to use. Only need a few minutes to setup everything.

I bet this is the best wireless/wired video monitoring camera that you can find on the market. I have used for two weeks and it is awesome so far! Here are the good things about it.

(1) It is very simple to setup. Just follow the instructions and it took me 5 mins to complete it.

(2) They offer free apps and you can view online and videochat anywhere as long as you have the Internet.

(3) The video is extremely smooth and clear. My friend can even "watch" the program on my 73" HDTV from this camera.

(4) Plus, I don't even need a PC or any special software to run this camera. All I need is just a smartphone!

(5) Price is unbeatable. This is the best price I have ever seen for a high-quality video monitoring camera.

Absolutely worth it! I would recommend to all my friends.

Delkin Devices DU3.0-M BLK Universal Pop-Up Shade for 3.0-Inch LCDs (Black)

Delkin Devices DU3.0-M BLK Universal Pop-Up Shade for 3.0-Inch LCDsI bought one of these for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. It attaches to the screen with adhesive and, provided the screen is clean to start with, seems quite positive. The screen is fully visible when it is applied correctly but one has to be careful with positioning it initially, since removing it and applying it a second time seriously weakens the adhesive.

The actual shade clicks off and I have found that it will do so in my pocket from time to time, so it is not a very positive fixing. It adds about 5mm to the depth of the camera.

I have found it to be less useful as a shade than I expected. Viewing of the screen is still difficult if (a) the sun is directly behind one or (b) if the sun is lighting one's face. This is a problem, however, with all cameras which have no optical viewfinder and is not really related to the use of a shade.

The Delkin Pop-Up Shade is a fairly clever device designed to block the sun and the other bright lights that can make it hard to see the LCD display. The shade's bracket attaches around the LCD screen and the actual pop-up shade part can be attached and removed without much effort.

My main problem with the Pop-Up Shade is that it is cumbersome when deployed. It works fairly well when shooting straight on or for viewing pictures after they have been captured, but taking a picture at an odd angle with it open requires you to move your head around since the flaps will block the display, or be reflected on the screen.

Over time, I found myself detaching the shade from the bracket more and more, until I just ended up removing the whole thing. It was a good idea and it might work better for others who shoot more static shots.

Buy Delkin Devices DU3.0-M BLK Universal Pop-Up Shade for 3.0-Inch LCDs (Black) Now

I'd prefer having an eye-level viewfinder when taking pictures outside in the sun but most cameras no longer have them so this is the best solution I've found. I did not want the plastic lens that comes with this offsetting the high resolution of my Panasonic TZ5 LCD screen so simply & carefully popped the plastic lens out of Delkin's shade frame before affixing to my camera. Adhesive strips are on the edges of the metal frame so Delkin's plastic lens is NOT needed. Be sure to carefully line up the frame with the edges of your freshly cleaned LCD to get it right the 1st time. The pop-up portion CAN be slid over to one side a bit then lifted from the frame which is good when you want to clean your LCD but can be somewhat annoying if it slips out by itself. Mine sometimes does this if I quickly remove the camera from it's carrying case, however it is really easy to pop back into place so no big deal. Note these come in several sizes including 2.5", 2.7" & 3" to match the size of your LCD. Is the Delkin sunshade perfect? No. Does it help? Definitely. Would I buy one again? In a heartbeat.

Read Best Reviews of Delkin Devices DU3.0-M BLK Universal Pop-Up Shade for 3.0-Inch LCDs (Black) Here

You need to remove the Shade's clear cover for the LCD screen before installing this device. The problem is that the plastic cover is very glossy and reflective. If you leave it in, all you will see is your face when you look at the LCD screen. The plastic is relatively thick, and very hard, so you can't cut it. Take a very small screwdriver or pocketknife and pry up one corner, then pull it out. If you don't, you'll have to do it later because the camera will be almost unusable. Gluing on the screen and then pulling it off to remove the plastic cover will damage the glue strips....so take out the plastic ahead of time. When I installed the Delkin shade for my wife, she told me her camera was ruined. Checking it out, I had to agree with her. After removing the plasic there was much less reflection from the LCD screen. The shade functions fairly well and it protects the LCD screen when folded.

Easy to install but the built in plastic screen would work better if it were a matte plastic screen. You can see your own reflection in it in bright sunlight.

25FT HDMI TO HDMI Cable

25FT HDMI TO HDMI CableWhen I purchased this I was not concerned about the fact it was such a great deal but was curious to see how thick the cable and shielding would be on this product. I worked at Best Buy as a Home Theater Sales Rep and can tell you that Digital is Digital. The price you pay for Monster Cable is mostly for the hype and the production and pre-retail price of those cables are next to nothing. Regardless of gases injected into the cable or how thick the shielding a 1080p signal will still be a 1080p signal. The whole reason you need shielding is in case of possible interference but for a Home Theater application this is not a cause for concern because of the large number of cables you would need to even experience any interference.

This cable is very robust. The cable is much thicker than expected and the rubber shielding is more than I will likely ever need. The picture quality meets all my expectations for an HDMI cable and carries digital picture and sound exceptionally. I am proud of my purchase and can promise that you will be as well.

Amazon, thank you for another great product and purchase!

This cable is insanely awesome for the price. The construction is very sturdy and well done, I know for sure I wont have any problems with the insulation ripping or breaking in any way. The connections themselves are gold plated so it's got great picture and sound quality. It's so well done the ends even have little dust caps which was very nice. I will definitely buy from this company again whenever I need any other cable needs. Great value for sure!!!!

Samsung Digimax 240 2.1MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom

Samsung Digimax 240 2.1MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical ZoomFinding a digital camera in the under $200 range is not easy. After doing a bit of research, I finally purchased the Samsung 240. It takes only two double "A" batteries, keeping the unit light and compact; easy to fit in a coat-pocket or bag. Do not make the mistake however of trying to use standard batteries with digital cameras. Buy a set of rechargeables and an AC adaptor for home computer hook-up. One set of NiMh batteries easily lasted me through eighty-two photos and seven avi files on a a busy birthday weekend.

If you are familiar with the use of computer, electronics, and cell phone menus so prevalent with today's devices you'll have no problem with the screens and menus (though the screen is hard to see in brilliant daylight). If, however you are not comfortable with electronic devices ask a friend who is, to walk you through the menus as the manual is cumbersome and stiffly worded. The software that comes with the camera is passable, but most computers have something that will allow you to manage your photos more readily.

A memory card is a must, but in a pinch, the on-board memory is fine for ten or so shots at medium quality resolution. There are three photo qualities available. The middle resolution is fine for just about everything. I have even been able to take shots of architectural drawings and e-mail then to contractors for review within the span of a few minutes. 2.0 pixels is more than adequate for most applications. The avi movie files are a fun addition, reminiscent of old 8mm footage, but great for catching the sense of space in a landscape or two children playing in a treehouse. And like 8mm there is no sound.

Some points for improvement: A built-in lense cover would have been nice. The rubber AC adaptor-cover needs to be pressed firmly in place to make a good seal (difficult if you have poor dexterity in your hands). Flash recharge is a bit slow, about three to four seconds which doesn't sound like much until you have all the grandchildren lined up for a group shot. :)

All in all a nice camera to take you into the world of digital photography and at a price that won't make you worry about taking it everywhere with you!

It is easy to switch between modes of the camera. The included video cable allows you to display video or photos on a t.v. with the setting of only one option.

It seems to eat batteries though. I was surprised when after shooting a few minutes of video and taking 8 photos with the LCD screen on, I didn't have enough battery power to download them onto my computer. In two days, I had used up 3 new pairs of AA alkaline batteries. Perhaps that is normal this is my first digital camera. The service department recommended I buy lithium rechargeable batteries.

Being that this is my first digital camera, I was a little skeptical of its capabilities. The samsung was given to me as a gift by my dad, but not before doing quite a bit of research on digital cameras and choosing this one. Being that my dad is a professional photographer, he was looking for a camera that would fit my needs. Someone who occasionally takes pictures, dosen't want a lot of gadgets & buttons galore. Basic quality pictures with a few amenities. For the asking price this camera has much more megapixels than a camera that is twice the price. It's ease of use is straight forward, and uncomplicated. I had the camera 2 days b4 going on a road trip to monteray calif, and I didn't even read the manual. Within a few hours I knew how to use all of it's features as if I had owned it for many months. I took some great pictures in all different lighting situations, and even a few movie pic's. After downloading them onto my computor, I was amazed on how clear and precise they came out. One of two drawbacks this camera has is it's view screen. When trying to see what it is your taking a picture of during the day, the screen becomes so washed out, it turns white. The other draw back is that it goes through two double AA'S in one day (no lie) And that isn't even having it on but for only a few minutes here and there!! My solution was to purchase "NIMH" rechargeable batteries that should last a least two days. On a 2 or 3 day trip a couple extra sets should be plenty. A week trip or longer, you should carry a least a dozen and don't forget to bring the charging case! In all fairness talking with other owners of digital cameras, The general consensus is that they too with their different brands of digital cameras, have the same issues.

This Digimax 240 is a compact unit, light but solid, with well placed dials and switches, and easy to handle. Provides a person with many options in a number of regards. The photos are high to excellent quality, just right for the average person. A big plus is the autofocus for providing sharp images and so is the macro mode for taking close ups. There is a little parallex problem in the latter regard, so in order to not to cut a portion off, you need to aim a little left and high for very close work. The provided software works just fine, though I had to call the Samsung 800 number for help in installing the camera driver from the CD to my computer, but the help was fast and accurate. The 2.00 megapixels may not be enough for you if you plan to take many pictures on a trip, so you may want to buy an optional memory card. It works on readily available 2 AA batteries, but it does eat them up fairly fast, though turning off the LCD viewer helps. It may be wise to invest in rechargeable batteries or a AC power converter from Samsung. So far it has worked flawlessly; I have encountered no mechanical problems at all. If I should, I will let you know by revising this review. I would highly recommend this camera for its ease of use, high quality images, and reasonable price. (The Samsung Digimax 201 is a good little camera also, but without the autofocus, for less money, and with a more compact body.)

I am Drew Corey, a small time travel writer (you wouldn't have heard of me). I am only 25 years old, but I have 15(!)digital cameras, including this 1.

This was my 10th digicam, to be precise. I have taken this with me to Kenya, New Zealand and Mexico. All 3 times, I have got fabulous photos, whichi magazines have accepted.

True, this IS a beginner's camera, but one easily gets fooled by the looks, style, price and brandname. I got fooled, to tell you the truth. But even a professional photographer would be amazed at the quality of these photos;they come out ACE!! I mean, they ALWAYS come out ACE!!

So the bottomline:

THIS CAMERA IS A SNATCH. IT'LL BE THE ENVY OF YOUR FRIENDS, AND YOU'LL BE WOWED BY IT TOO. SO DON'T HESITATE:GO AHEAD AND BUY IT;YOU CAN WORK WONDERS WITH IT!!

Lorex LIVE Wireless Security Cameras (White)

Lorex LIVE Wireless Security CamerasOverall not worth buying. The picture quality is sub-par, it is supposed to color but closer to black & white. The picture is grainy and has intermittent interference. We don't have anything (that I know of) that could be generating the interference. I know this is an inexpensive system but I was hoping for a decent picture without interference.

I am returning it and will try another brand.

when we found out we were having twins, we had a hard time finding a solution for a video baby monitor, times 2 (can you say, expensive?!)! we decided instead to find an affordable security set that came with two cameras. we chose the lorex live wireless cams and they have been PERFECT! we love the easy setup and simplicity of moving the receiver from room to room when needed. the only small disappointment is the sound, a little crackly/staticy, but we have a traditional baby monitor as well (old school walkie-talkie style) and just turn the volume down on the tv and use the other monitor for sound. we turn to the "twin channel" as i like to call it every night before bed, so we don't have to disturb them by going into their room. it has been so helpful for peace of mind and a quick check when they are napping, and the price is AWESOME for how much we've used it. the video quality is also great, MUCH better than most actual "baby" video monitors on the market. the night vision is super crisp as well -which is great for watching them sleep at night. overall i would definitely recommend this product, and as always, amazon shipped fast and cheap and delivered another great product!

These cameras arrived when I expected them to, but they are not worth the money. I set them up, and firstly, they don't reach very far before they're overcome with static and the batteries are drained within minutes.

This item is a good low cost method of providing closet circuit observation. Downside is that the range between the camera and the receiver is limited and receiver often needs to be moved and antenna adjusted to get decent picture.

I have looked at a few surveillance systems to monitor our twins. You can't do better than this system unless you want to spend a whole lot more. Number one thing to consider, do you need a perfect picture? If you do, go with a corded unit or digital. One is hard to set up and one is costly. Number 2 thing to remember, WIFI runs on 2.4gh. If you get a camera with a 2.4gh you will HATE it if you have wifi yourself, or around you! Trust me on this one, I tried one. If it is 2.4gh DIGITAL it will work, but only digital. I noticed most wireless camera systems are 2.4gh (not digital), so they are all junk for the common user (there are 7 wifi routers in my range). We have had this unit in use for 1.5 years and never had an issue outside of some intermittent static. This Lorex unit runs off a 900mhz. Plugs into video and one audio rca jack. The night vision is ok in total darkness and great with a little light. I feel that if the other negative reviewers purchased the cameras in competition with this unit (as I did) they would know this is a great value and there are always flaws with wireless. When using both cameras it shows each pic for about 2 seconds. I purchased this LW1002W under $100.

Crazy Cart Professional Digital SLR Camera Cover Waterproof Rain Coat

Crazy Cart Professional Digital SLR Camera Cover Waterproof Rain CoatIf you're like me, you've looked at this rain coat several times wondering if it could fit larger than 200mm lens as it states... had to buy one to find out that it can.

I'll admit its pushing the size to the workable limit to fit the Canon 100-400mm lens but I think it's going to work just fine if I am careful at the 400mm end. The nylon cover wants to slip behind the lens shade at full extension but seems like it will still provide protection from the rain.

I MIGHT add a section of sleeve over the lens to give full coverage if needed... I figure a sleeve from a nylon wind breaker with some velcro at the end will do the trick. I'll report back if and when I need to do that.

Inside surface of the nylon has a rubbery coating to make it more waterproof than plain nylon material.

Other worry was about the clear plastic... turns out to be very rubbery and not "crinkly" stiff material. I have to say more like clear shower curtain that can be moved without spliting and turning white at a bend.

All the pull cords are elastic with locking tabs. Only ones that I'm not sure about are the two for the bottom zipper that can be zipped in from each side (like to allow a tripod in the center) the elastic cord is the only zipper pull and stretches pretty far before the zipper "zips" Easy enough to replace with other cord however.

I think this will work just fine but need to use it in the rain to know the bottom line on how waterproof it is. Might need seam sealer now and then like you do to a tent.

I've uploaded some photos where I tried to show more real world view of it and how it fits on a much larger lens than advertised it will fit. I've incuded some measurement notes on the photos also...

IF yours arrives like mine did, the hard hood with wide velcro at the front is wrapped wrong way out for some reason and needs to be reversed in order to be used. I found this caused the hood to take a curve in the wrong direction and needs to be stored the opposite way for a while to correct the shape for use. Why it's shipped rolled inside out, I can only wonder. This condition also makes you scratch your head at first to figure out how it can work. Just remember, the yellow tag goes outside the hood on top.

I bought this rain coat to take to Niagara Falls. I was lucky that it arrived early becase I was shooting my grand daughters softball game and it began to rain. I put the rain coat on in no time and was back at it. I have never had a camera rain coat that made it possible to use all the controls on the camera. I have recomended this product to another professional photographer and she has already purchased one. The only suggestion I would have and it is no refection on this product, but since you can not use the neck strap I have purchased a wrist strap to give me more security and minimize the chance of dropping the camera. But for the money no one should be with out the piece of gear.

I bought this camera cover for high school football and the rain cover works great on my canon HD camcorder. I can film no problem with the rain cover installed.

This rain coat works as advertised. My only complaint is the stiff collar makes it difficult to pack. There is no way to fold it down to a small size. I can not fit it in my camera back pack bag at all. The only way to Carry it is to lash it to the outside. Consequently, the only time I have it with me is when I know in advance that I am going to be shooting in the rain. If I get caught in an unexpected rain then it is completely useless because I have left it behind. And no piece of equipment, no matter how well it is made, works very well if you don't have it when you need it.

Keep your camera gear away from the weather, at least for a while, in heavy rain the cover leaks.

Easy to put your camera inside and easy to operate too, all controls are visible even the viewfinder, tested with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens, a very long lens
