Ease of use with so little to configure, should have been quick and painless not the case
Battery life is very short A little over an hour
Bundled software is poorly designed
Digital images no where near as sharp (the binocular lense is not the lens that takes the pictures/video)
Ultimately, I got what I paid for. Next time, I will invest in a product that works as advertised, which means that the investment will be significantly higher.
If you're looking for something simple and have low expectations, by all means, order Vivitar Binoculars... Otherwise be prepared to spend a lot more or better yet, just buy binoculars without a camera...

For the money it's just OK. The cd rom that came with it unbelievably had the WRONG manual imbedded in it. I am still trying to get a manual so that I can decipher the mediocre menus. Image quality is about what you would expect from a cellphone. Also you do not get an image of what you are seeing in the binocular. It looks to me like it is about 50% or even less of the magnification that you get with the binocular view. Technically it may be correct but from the standpoint of an average user the difference in the field of view is quite striking. If you are very careful to hold still you can get an OK image. I keep playing with it so I guess the compromises are reasonable.

I really had a hard time with this item because all the reviews on digital binoculars were bad. This was a Father's Day gift for a bird watcher and thought it would be nice but was leary. We got this one because it was MAC compatible over others that were just Windows only. Since it was a gift I haven't used it but the comments I got were, it is lightweight, would fit in your pocket and be easy to carry anywhere. I saw pictures from this digital binocular and they were very clear and crisp. So far I believe it is a hit.Want Digital Binocular Camera - Black (VIV-CV-1225V) Discount?
The binocular/camera works fine however, the software that came with it (Vivitar Experience Image Manager) does not work.I tried to install the software that came with the product (it didn't install), I was given a link to install and that didn't work.
They sent me another disc and that didn't install the software either. 3 times and I'm thinking of returning the binoculars if they can't fix the problem.
I have a new Dell computer with Windows 7 which the software says is compatible with the software.
