I have been trying numerous cameras for a computer based security system. This camera gives a good picture and color when compared to other cameras in the same price range. It is a daytime only camera so you will need other cameras to see in the dark.

Completely ignoring price, it's not very good. I have an 8 camera system, witch cameras including the cheapest ebay has to offer, and pro CCTV cameras pulled from businesses. This camera is pretty much the worst one I have. It sees decently in low light, but the image just isn't very sharp. It's not a lens problem, it's sharp in the way that low resolution looks when it's blown up with no interpolating. It's almost pixelated you could say.

For the price, this is probably the best deal I've ever seen. A camera from eBay runs about 20 bucks for just the camera. Then there's a run of cable, and in some cases, a power adapter. This camera is easily the best bang for the buck. I think I'll buy a few more, they look really solid, like they'll last a long time.

The camera arrived when it was supposed to. Took about fifteen minutes to completely install. I mean I mounted the camera outside, ran the cable along the wall, used the hole for satellite TV and connected to the monitor in the fifteen minutes. Great little camera with a very satisfactory color picture. And a good price.

This small camera worked great out of the box. I set it up in our vacation cabin and it gives a nice view of the whole room. I connected it to an inexpensive video capture card and will be able to access it via via the internet (we have Hughes Satellite internet). I will be able to check the cabin from home to make sure that everything is alright. I may purchase more of these to put at the front door and other locations. For the money you can't beat this camera. I'm not sure how well it will work out for an outdoor location, but I am pleased with the indoor picture-it looks much like a picture that you see from security cameras, certainly not high resolution, but for money I don't think you will find a better bargain.

Just got this today. Hooked it up straight to my tv to test it. There was no color, and the picture was very jumpy, like a vcr will do when the tracking needs adjusting...only, as far as I can tell, there's no way to adjust it!. It came in an original, unopened package, but no instructions/troubleshooting guide was included. So I looked it up. Apparently this product used to be good, but the quality has since been downgraded drastically. It's supposably got night vision, but what used to be infrared sensors are now just fake pieces of plastic. Apparently the microphone has been removed also. Now I have a camera that is basically useless. Always read up on a product before you buy!

great quality/sharpness/color, can easily see individual leaves blowing in yard from 20-30 feet. latest version of camera doesn't have a microphone and IR leds have been replaced with black plastic pieces.

make sure to focus camera (twist lens) for best picture.

I just received this item, and I am livid. . . the picture on the website CLEARLY shows the camera with 6 ir LEDs. . . but when you get the product, there's just little black plastic nubs where the LEDs should be. I needed this as an IR camera. . . I guess I got swindled.

bought to spy on my self while I sleep. the wife said I was doing some crazy stuff in my sleep. so wanted a cheap way to watch my self sleep. a real camcorder is expensive. didnt need sound. picture reselution is ok. not high quality and a little grainy. but is a security cam so this is normal. very small and compact. could hide it well. doesnt do well in low light though. just hook up to vcr and have fun with it.

Even due I am not very good at this, but I will give my opinion about this camcorder. Let me tell you first before I even begin. money very well spend. It's worth it.

Now let me tell you if you are a die hard, deep driver, hardcore outdoor person who is into hiking and cave crawling, let's move on to something else that will hold up your adventures, but if you are kind of married and have kids and got tired of having a camera and being fearful around the water which will destroy your camera, and living on zero disposable income, here is it. You got yourself a great deal. With around $130.00 you got the best camera/camcorder that money can buy.

Now let's begin with this: it is digital camcorder, meaning you need "light". It's not designed for indoor or low light, but for outdoor and lots of light. It's a first time that I got to see my kids diving into pool and how they do and look like from inside the pool, vs having to shoot from the distance zoomed in. The movies came out great with 1080i resolution crystal clear and the Pictures are awesome when they are viewed on our HDTV. Now there is a lots of difference between the pictures that I took inside of the house vs the one I took outside. The inside shots are not so great. But the one with lots of light it came out very good. There are not too many buttons on the camcorder and it's easy to operate. You can even take picture when you're recording video. I had mine in my swimming trunk pocket all the time during our visit to the pool and I beat it in and out the water. No sign of water anywhere inside the camcorder and no fog on the lens either. But I did not cannon ball into the pool with it either. Somehow I think that impact will force the water into the camera.

Bottom line, if you are wants to have your memories with kids/wife/family, documented, then don't let the water stop you, me personally lots a lots of picture for lack of ability to snap a shot in or around the water. I do recommend this little camcorder.

Zooming even at any level makes the entire picture grainy. Any or all pictures taken without the zoom are clear and nice.

PROS : The camera is as waterproof as they come, we took it to a water parks, a wave pool, etc and all the videos and pictures (those without zoom) turned out great.

So, be warned, the video camera is nice, but you need to know its limitations and downsides.

I was concerned that this camcorder would leak after reading some reviews, but I took it snorkeling several times, and I dropped it in muddy water once. It never leaked a drop.

I had a great experience shooting underwater 1080p video of sea turtles in Hawaii. The built-in screen looked a little dark and blurry while I was shooting so I was concerned, but the actual video was bright and focused and looked great.

This is a sport camera so don't expect the highest perfect quality video or stills, but the quality surpassed my expectations. You can take still pictures while recording video as well.

The internal rechargable battery lased all day with heavy use. I charged it every night, but I suspect it could have easily lasted 2 or more days of heavy use. Now that we're back from Hawaii my wife keeps it in her purse and the charge lasts a week with very light use.

The only negative thing I have to say about this camera is that it takes several seconds to wake up when you press the power button. If you need to catch a very quick shot, you may miss it while the camera boots up. Other than that I have nothing bad to say about this neat device.

Just received my new BW10 and went swimming; excellent quality photos and video above and below water. One feature that I appreciated was the ability to take photo shots during video recording. Interestingly those photos are only 2M, rather than the larger 5M photos possible stand-alone.

The book is lacking on some details, and don't imagine you can see the buttons or icons underwater even with goggles (they could have made them large splashy colors so as to know with certainty) thus only 4 stars, but I'm very pleased so far.

Took this camera on a trip to Israel. The camera took pictures for 9 days without a charge, and weeks after. The pictures came out very acceptable for an inexpensive camera with good clear HD. I found the settings should be all set to "on". I am not a camera buff so this worked for me in most kinds of lighting. The choice of still or video was clear and convenient. It is also water proof. I did not buy it for water shots, but is was great in the rain and humid conditions -you have both in Israel during the winter. It came with a 4 gig card cables and pouch. All in all it was a treat to use.

I bought the Panasonic SDR-H80 digital video camera from Best Buy yesterday (May 23, 2009). It cost $399 + extra for a backup battery and a warranty.

The Good Stuff:

The optical image stabilization feature is quite adept at stabilizing a shaky image.

The 70x zoom is kinda cool, though you really need a tripod for anything over about 30x.

The camera looks attractive, is light weight, and has a relatively easy to use interface. The buttons are mostly positioned well, except the zoom lever, which I couldn't easily reach without jostling the camera.

The Bad Stuff:

The image quality of this camera is utter trash. Pure garbage. My picture phone literally takes better quality video at a higher resolution. I was absolutely stunned at how bad the image quality is. It looks like some kind of highly compressed late 90's webcam or something.

And it gets even worse in low light. And here, by "low light", I mean anything less than direct sunlight. My first attempts with this camera last night turned out so bad that I couldn't see anything.

I did have the camera set to the highest quality, and I followed the instructions for the different lighting types (fluorescent, mercury, etc) with no luck.

The camera claims to have an intelligent auto (iA) feature, but I didn't notice it doing much but fiddling with the white balance at odd intervals.

There is also a special low-light feature called "magic ..." something or other. I forget. But it reduced the frame rate to 1 or 2 fps, which makes it completely unacceptable as a video recording device.

I am surprised at how good the reviews are for this piece of equipment. Really, people, set your bar just a little bit higher.

I returned this product this morning to Best Buy. I brought my laptop, and while I was there, I tried out other cameras of this model to make sure that mine was not simply defective. They were all trash.

I ate the $60 Best Buy restocking fee, but that's okay because I'd rather be out $60 than $400 for a camera that won't do anything but sit in my closet.

Bought this a couple weeks ago as my old Sony MiniDV camera bit the dust.

So far so good excellent zoom, audio quality, nice to have so much recording time to the HDD.

Didn't notice till I got it that it does not have an eyepiece only the LCD screen other than that I couldn't be happier.

Note, I originally tried to save money by buying from one of those New York Electronics dealers guy tried to convince me it only came with a 30 minute battery and I needed to spend the extra $100 with him to upgrade. Looser -

It's good for at least a couple hours.

After some research and because I own a Panasonic Camera. I decided to buy this camcorder. First impression it looks good (small and very light), the optical zoom 70X and 60GB hard drive make it very impressive.

The biggest downside to this camcorder is the video quality. I shot a couple of shots in the morning under daylight and the image quality was very good. However, with no sunshine the image quality is very shady and bad. Imagine even with a house that is brightly lit the image looked very grainy and not good quality. The backlit feature does not help either.

Am going to return this camcorder and would advice you to stay away.

First off, I was looking for a replacement for my JVC mini-DV camcorder which I used extensively last year. It worked well until one day, it fell to the floor and since then, I would get errors while recording after 30 minutes of use. If I used a cleaning tape, I could get it to work somewhat. But, the biggest thing I disliked about it was that it would take 1 hour to transfer to my computer 1 hour worth of video using firewire.

So, I was looking for a good Standard Definition camcorder which would either use a hard-drive or flash memory card to transfer video to my computer for further editing and DVD authoring. And, this camcorder does that and very elegantly as well. I tried out some HD quality camcorders but to edit those would require a new PC, better software which doesn't seem to be available right now and more frustrations than I was looking for. I was looking for an easier way to do what worked.

I read where some do not like the quality ( primarily of photos ) which I'm not concerned with. The video quality to me is as good as my old JVC mini-DV. I have captured snapshots from the video taken on this camcorder and, considering all, they're not too bad but if I want a good photo, I'll use my digital camera. The software supplied with this Panasonic transfers the .mov files from the camcorder to the PC and renames them .mpg files. The files are identical so I'm assuming the camcorder records in mpeg format using a .mov file extension on the camcorder itself. I have thought I might just copy to my PC directly but the software is fairly straight forward enough, I use it. For editing video ( and photos ), I use my regular video/photo editing software once the files are on my PC. I used Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum for video and PSP X2 or Photoshop Elements for photos and they work well.

What I like most about the camcorder are:

1. the zoom -I recorded our son's football game and from across the field up in the video booth, I could zoom in on players and see their face quite easily zoomed in,

2. optical stabilization -at zoomed in level, the stabilization worked very well. I held the light camcorder in my left hand as steady as I could and used my right index finger to zoom and thumb to record/pause the video. This worked very well,

3. audio -I picked up audio from below, close up and far away while recording and was truly impressed with the resulting DVD I created from the captured video,

4. transfer to PC -instead of 1-to-1 time transfer with a mini-DV, I could send 15 minutes of video over to my PC in 2-3 minutes max time -and I didn't have to view/listen to the video being played while transferring.

What I like least about the camcorder are:

1. it is light -almost too light but I'll get used to that,

2. the battery only lasts about 2 hours before charging so I've bought a longer-lasting battery which should help there,

3. the AC adaptor plug and file-transfer USB cable plug in under the battery. Somewhat awkward yes, but to do file transfers properly, I should be using AC anyway so it's impossible to mess that up using a low battery and losing power in the middle of a file transfer,

4. there is another feature called aI which I haven't completely figured out yet but from what I can tell so far, it may be something I would add to what I like Most about the camcorder. If I find this is so, I may wish to update this review.

So, for my purposes, this is a great camcorder!

I've read the other reviews and have to say, the one's that claim the image is bad quality or grainy need to go to school. Just read the manual and learn how to adjust the settings to the surroundings. It's a camera, not a box of ready to eat cereal..... it takes a bit of talent and practice to make a good video.

I also have a Laptop that's running 64 bit Vista and had no problem with the software, as well as on my 32 bit desktop with XP. I'm not sure what her problem was.

Take the bad revues with a grain of salt, these people probably can't tie their shoes right.

I just bought a home that was burglarized during the DAY (ha!) while I was out. I have an indoor alarm system, so the alarm was set off when the window was broken. This was AFTER they had already stolen property from my backyard. I immediately commenced to beefing up my home's security (inside & out). My home-security provider has cameras but the cam with 360 view isn't water proof & the one that is, is static. Not to mention I don't want ANYONE with visual access to my home but me. I spent quite a while looking for a camera. It was VERY draining sitting here for hours at a time (for two days) looking for a Security Cam that had all the features I needed: **Outdoor/Waterproof **360 View **Internet/IP for remote access **Good Picture Quality **WiFi **$200 or less (since I'd be buying 4 or more) **Decent Reviews. I wasn't as concerned with whether it had I.R. night vision but that would be a definite plus if it did in addition to all the other features. Well the X10 AirSight PTZ IP Camera does have all of the above features. Now before I give my full review just let me say, DO NOT spend a ridiculous amount of money on these types of electronics. Price is not always synonymous with "quality". This is the attitude I had while shopping (especially after reading BAD reviews of some expensive models), not just because I would be buying multiple units, but because I truly believe that a $2000 cam wouldn't work any better than a $200 cam. Some may argue with me on that, but I own a few realty properties (and a business) and I feel this camera is more than ENOUGH to perform the tasks needed. I'm sure a $2000 camera might have even better picture quality but if you don't have a T3 internet connection to power it, you can't experience the full benefits. Therefore it's a definite waste of money.....Moving on.... NIGHT VISION: The Night vision isn't great, but the fact that it has it, is a plus for me. Besides, I already have 360 motion-sensor flood lights installed near the camera. If you're looking for an awesome night vision cam, then this isn't the cam for you. OVERALL CAMERA: It looks great, very sleek, professional & high-tech looking. It works great, I haven't had any issues with it malfunctioning. The picture quality is pretty good. The speed when panning & tilting is also pretty good. I do have experience with web-cameras, and any camera that uses the internet you need to have a pretty good internet-connection & networking gear to get the best picture quality & the speed of the camera controls. My internet connection is 100mbps/DL 20mbps/UL, and I have a NetGear Router: WNR2000 v2 (which I plan on upgrading to an even faster model) INSTALL: My home has concrete/brick veneers so I had my contractor drill the hole for the camera cable to fit through. Then drill holes for the screws in the concrete. He basically physically installed the camera (haha) but if I had the right drill bits for that thick concrete I could have done it. I didn't test the cam & set it up before having it installed, but I suggest that you do just in case there's an issue and you need to examine it. That way you won't have to climb back up a ladder to fool around with it. SOFTWARE SETUP: There are two programs. One can only be used from within the home to view each camera you have. The other is basically like a network/device discovery tool. Honestly now that I think about it both are useless since the camera is "Plug-n-Play", it has on-board programming. When you visit the IP address (direct or remotely) of the camera you can control it & configure it from there. The camera & you Router is all that is needed to setup & configure everything. However, initially you should still install both to your computer. You can always uninstall them later if you feel they're taking up space on your comp. PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS: TERRIBLE! I give them 1-STAR for the package instructions. Surprisingly, the wording is just fine (since this is a product from China and their translated instructional manuals are usually terribly worded) but it is the fact that they give absolutely NO instructions on ***HOW TO VIEW YOUR CAMERA REMOTELY***. For people that have never used an IP/Network Cam, this is VERY frustrating. So I will post the info on how to setup ANY IP/Network camera you may have. ***Log into you router and use "port forwarding" feature for each camera you have ***If you have a dynamic IP Address (your IP address changes every time you reset/unplug your modem & router) use a Dynamic DNS Service (aka DynDNS or DDNS) ***Then configure the DynDNS feature within your ROUTER and also the DynDNS settings within CAMERA.
