Minolta Dimage F200 4MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom

Minolta Dimage F200 4MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical ZoomI had to make a choice between the F300 and the F200.

I chose the F200 for the following reasons:

Unlimited movie mode

Separate zoom lever

Redefined button-layout

Anti-reflective coating on LCD

ISO800

Before I bought the F200 I got a Canon S400 (IXUS 400). I changed to the F200 for the following reasons:

Full manual controls in an ultra-compact metal body

Clean and VERY SHARP! pictures in all situations

Outstanding macro pictures, SUPER macro mode!

Nimh battery support

Faster and smaller SD-Cards

(and the unlimited movie mode of course.....)

Information display on top of camera with battery meter!

Of course, there are some netagive issues, as with every photocam:

No AF Assist lamp

Higher than average noise from ISO400.

LCD gets grainy on low-light situations

A bit slow start-up time and zoom

Despite of the lack of an AF-assist lamp, the flash is quite strong! I don't really need that lamp. On my S400 the camera took the same quality photos without the lamp as with the lamp.

The photos are REAL sharp! I made comparisons between F200 and S400 photo qualities:

F200 is much sharper and detailed

The colours on F200 are more natural then the ones on the S400

However, S400 took a bit better pictures in low-light. But the F200 is still better than average. Much better than the Sony P-series.

I was afraid from the slowness of the lens. Doesn't really a matter, believe me! It is acceptable, don't let you fooled by some negative reviews about how slow the F200 is. This is NOT THAT BIG PROBLEM, believe me.

Reviewing images is fast and a pleasure.

Slideshow has many settings, it is very useful if you plug it onto the TV.

I can record about 15-20 mins at the 320 res. and 40-45 mins at the 160 res. movies on my 256 Mbyte SD-Card. A REAL PLEASURE!

One of the big problems was that the F100 get turned on accidentally. This is not with the F200. It's build quality is strong as it can be!

All in all: a great camera, I just simply cannot give it a lower mark than a five.

It's not only good for point & shooters, it is a super choice for serious amateurs also since it has aperture, shutter priorities, manual white balance and EVERYTHING.

A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CAMERA!

The price is low, I think this is the BEST BUY compact camera of 2003!

Easy to use, useful menu system for personal settings which are easy to set, a comfortable size to hold, a quick response to the telephoto, excellent image quality, especially at fine or above setting.

Buy Minolta Dimage F200 4MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom Now

I have been testing diferent digital camera like Kodak, Fujifilm, etc. and the Dimage F200 is the best I have tested.

I have not tried completely the camera, but this camera has many options that don't have other conventional digital cameras. I dont finish to read the manual.

It has unlimited movie time (limited only by the memory)

Slideshow is very useful if you plug it onto the TV, and you can record a 15 seconds commentary for a picture.

It is a very great choice if you are finding more that a symple digital camera. It is a highly recommended camera.

Cisco WVC2300 Wireless-G Business Internet Security Video Camera w/Audio

Cisco WVC2300 Wireless-G Business Internet Security Video Camera w/AudioThe Cisco WVC2300 video camera has some pretty impressive features. I wanted a network security camera so I could learn more about the technology in video surveillance. So having options like interchangeable lenses, I/O ports that can facilitate alarm system triggers, turn lights on and off from the camera web interface, two way voice, controls for mounting on a Pelco pan/tilt base to control movement remotely, and PC-less event recording directly to Network Attached Storage via integrated Samba client makes this camera a winner for my needs. It should be noted that this is a business class device that is designed with the pro-consumer and IT professional in mind. It's primary goal was not to be super easy to use and operate. If you're looking for a good super easy setup and basic feature(s) wireless camera with great reviews the Sharx Security VIPcella SCNC2606 Wifi Wireless 802.11g Security Network Camera is a excellent choice for cameras in this price point. Looking to spend a little less? Give a look at the under $100 Foscam FI8918W Wireless camera. If your're a box camera fan you maybe want to check out the ATC® WiFi 2-way audio Box IP Camera H.264 software 720P webcam security CCTV NC531MW H series, which has clear, crisp and extremely good detail picture quality or the new Toshiba IK-WB30A IP/Network Camera with 2 Megapixel 1600x1200 Resolution looks very impressive on paper for everything except the digital zoom :-(

The Cisco WVC2300 video camera Wifi g wireless IP camera has its own built in web server. So it does not need a pc to work. Authentication process requires a user name and password set by the camera's administrator. Here is a quick undocumented tip and or trick, if you need or have the desire to allow everyone to view the camera you can remove the user information from the demo account. You can view the video from your own home network or you can configure your router to view and control the camera from computers or cellphones on the internet, without dependence on any third party web sites or subscriptions. I also must give credit to the NETGEAR WNR3500L RangeMax Wireless-N300 Gigabit Router with USB as it was easy to setup the camera to be connected from the internet.

It performs better than average for a wireless camera in it's price range likely because of the MIMO technology. I have not seen any other wireless security camera offer this feature. Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) technology is a wireless technology that uses multiple transmitters and receivers to transfer more data at the same time. MIMO technology leverages multipath behavior by using multiple, "smart" transmitters and receivers with an added "spatial" dimension to dramatically increase performance and range. MIMO allows multiple antennas to send and receive multiple spatial streams at the same time. This allows antennas to transmit and receive simultaneously. I've not had connection drops or slower video on this system and it's more than 75ft away from the wireless router on a different floor. If you decide to go with a network cable install it also supports POE Power over ethernet which is very cool. From my understanding the POE function does not work while the camera is in wireless mode. I love the freedom of wireless personally and you can put the camera almost anywhere. It does not have to be permanently in one location because of cables.

It is very well built and feels pretty heavy and solid. It is longer than I thought around 8 inches long and 3 to 4 inches wide. In order to protect the camera from electrical surge(s) and or unexpected lost of power I put the unit on a small ups. I can't tell you how many devices fail or die to soon because they are not properly protected (Best Buy had a CyberPower 425VA SL-Series Battery Backup System for 29.99). Also if you unplug the camera or experience a power outage the camera may get confused and go back to ethernet mode and not wireless. This may cause some to believe the camera no longer works. To fix this issue if it happens simply reconnect to a wired connection and set it back to DHCP if you previously had a static address and power off then on without the cable to force back to wireless. You may have to find the new address on the router or wireless access point for the new wireless connection. Another reviewer stated some good practical advice (for any computer hardware) regarding downloading the newest update(s)"Firmware Version: 1.1.2.6" was the latest release for download when I purchased this camera. Also downloaded the monitoring console software and other items too like the video surveillance software that allows you to setup a recording schedule and storing the video on a pc. I was surprised that it already had a microphone built-in, but the speakers needed to be purchased separately, and they need to be powered speakers. Two way audio works, but a good deal of background noise (fairly soft), but very noticeable was experienced as well. I had a better experience using the half-duplex and not full-duplex option setting for the 2-way audio, so you can't talk and listen at the same time, but it cuts the amount of noise and interference. It is easy enough to toggle between talking and listening. In general you get basic picture size options going up to 640*480 and the typical Brightness, Sharpness, Contrast, control settings to adjust the picture. This is an adjustable cs mount 6 mm lens. You can adjust the focus camera by slowly rotating clockwise or counterclockwise the very tip of the barrel of the lens base that is closest to you. I had to manually focus the camera to adjust for a clear and sharper image. After the focus was corrected it's got good picture quality. For a optional lens, you can use any c/cs mount and Cisco offers some custom ones for $$$ I would not recommend the Computar Wide Angle 2.3mm (which was not as sharp or clear as the stock lens) unless you need a really wide viewing area like a parking lot, but I've really enjoyed the Fujinon-3-11MM varifocal lens which allows both wide and narrower field of view(s).The DC-iris control connection from this len's is a four-pin standard plug that fits directly into the camera's iris output. The len's delivered impressive optical quality due to the high standards for resolution, contrast reproduction, and coating. The night feature works in extremely lower light, but not in total darkness. You can purchase IR units to resolve this i.e. Pinecom PN850 48 IR LED Illuminator. Another feature is to turn off the LED operations this can help the camera be hidden in a dark room. Motion Sensor was not as important to me, as it will be on 24x7. In this price range most software packages that come with the wireless security camera have a pretty basic limited motion sensor features. You may want to give a look at the Triple Sensor Technology (Body Heat Sensor, Motion Sensor, and Sound Sensor)on the Panasonic BL-C230A Wireless Internet Security Camera if motion detection is a primary concern. I did complete a simple configuration of motion detection and set it to email me when motion occurred. Both video and still jpeg attachment options worked fine. The picture looks great on the ipod touch and the new iphone 4, but audio controls are only available on the MS Internet Explorer browser. Also the camera has a shallow tripod hole and it can be a issue with standard tripod mount screws, so the unit may not be a tight fit on pan / tilt units. Overall value of this unit comes from its ability to be useful in many different environments because of wide range of possible options.

If they improve the following this would be a 5 star wireless camera.

A camera in this price range should have a memory slot for data storage.

Many cameras in this day and age also have HD. The picture quality is good on this camera, but HD would be a welcome improvement. Yes, I know the Cisco IPC-2500W model has p720 HD, and the non wireless Cisco Video Surveillance 4000 Series IP Cameras also features 1080 Full HD, but they cost $1k or more.

Include a Pelco pan/tilt motorized unit (Most likely would move this camera out of the price range)AS20RS485 Indoor/Outdoor Pan/Tilt Camera Scanner appears to be compatible for around $140... If you just need a indoor pan/tilt option that can be set in a loop cycle then just get X-10 Ninja Pan & Tilt Camera Mount Kit Model VK74A for around $40. If you want to be able to control a indoor pan/tilt unit over the internet using the WVC2300 cameras web interface (like me) the 3030WQ with Transformation decoder board about $40 $50 plus shipping worked out pretty good.

Include a interchangeable camera lens i.e.3-11MM varifocal lens

Enable the audio controls in other browsers not just MS Internet Explorer. A noise filter would also be a welcomed improvement.

When you bring up the console homepage the default volume is set too high! (Maybe a setting I over looked, but if not they really should fix in the next update).

802.11n wireless network capable and go ahead and add a 3rd Antenna

Enable POE option when the camera is operating in wireless mode (Like other Cisco products i.e. Wireless Access points)

IR Night Vision i.e. RAYMAX 25 suitable for all low light installations up to 20 metres (66ft)or maybe the POE option Raymax 25 IP. If you need something a little more affordable maybe look at the Pinecom PN850 48 IR LED Illuminator (I like it)

Setup of the camera was easy -hook up to router and run revised setup program downloaded from Cisco to get it connected. Also, you should download upgraded firmware 1.01.

Getting it to work wireless would have been a cinch if they documented how to do it! Comes only with a quick start guide that never mentions wireless operation. Found the full manual on Cisco/Linksys site and got the wireless up and running fine.

High quality 640x480 streaming video over the Internet. I am especially impressed by how well it handles night vision -I am watching my ill mother now sleeping with almost no light at all on in her room and I can see her better than if I were 3 ft away. Sound quality (snoring at the moment) is fine.

I am quite impressed and grateful for the tech assist in caring for my mom.

Buy Cisco WVC2300 Wireless-G Business Internet Security Video Camera w/Audio Now

I bought this camera because of $75 rebate from Cisco. But Cisco was asking me to recycle old Cisco product to get rebate. I return this camera and bought Foscam instead which is 50% cheaper and has build-in IR feature.

Other reason why returned this item was that it was disconnecting wireless connection 10 times a day and sometimes couldn't reconnect at all. I solved the issue by changing camera wireless settings but it didn't give very reliable picture of the camera.

This camera is easy to setup & configure. It seems very sturdy / solid and provides good image quality. The provided stand and mount are flimsy and a bit challenging to lock in place, but I only used that equipment while roughing the system together. The camera eventually went into a housing.

Olympus PEN E-P2 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 17mm f/2.8 Lens

Olympus PEN E-P2 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 17mm f/2.8 LensI had shot with Leica film cameras for years but when I made the full transition to digital, moved away from them. The M8 and M9 are great cameras, but too pricey, even on the used market. For years, I used a Canon G-series as my carry-everywhere camera and, while it produced very good photos and was bullet-proof reliable, the small chip size and very short focal lengths bothered me a lot.

When the E-P1 came out, I was intrigued. When the E-P2 came out, I became lustful. I had a chance to borrow one for a week and got hooked I had to have it.

The larger chip means a cropping factor of 0.5x, so the 17 mm lens gives me a field of view close to the 35 mm I always had on my Leica M4-P. The larger chip means a longer lens which means more background control and that is what I craved the most. The ability to separate my subjects out from the background means my images pop again, just like the old days. (And like on my full-frame Canon DSLRs.)

The camera is small, light and feels extremely durable. The lens, I'll admit, doesn't feel as strong as the camera, but I hear rumors of new lenses in 2011 with a wider maximum aperture, so I may buy a new one if that pans out.

The raw files look very good at ISOs below 500. Above and they get a little chunky, but usable.

Buying this camera has re-invigorated me. I made a commitment to shoot with it (and post photos online at mejphoto.com) every day. I'm coming up on 30 days and, so far, with one exception (when I decided to get out a big lens on a DSLR to shoot a hawk), I've made and posted a photo every day with it. It is my constant companion and is helping me to see my world again.

As for the strange pricing ... I'd been keeping my eye on the E-P2 kit with the 17 mm lens and the viewfinder for a while. I knew I wanted it, I knew I wanted it by early December to start a year-long project, but the price had been holding steady at $1099. In late November, the price for the viewfinder was about $250, the camera and lens about $900, putting the separate prices higher than the kit. Then the camera/lens combo started to drop. $750, matching the kit price.

$700.

$675.

$635.

$535.

I have no idea what Amazon was doing, but ended up with the camera, lens and viewfinder for a combined $785, more than $300 off the kit price.

So, um ... thanks, Amazon.

I love this camera. i graduated from a travel zoom point and shoot and have had loads of fun getting to know this camera.

Micro 4/3

If you are new to the micro 4/3 idea, do some research but I am completely satisfied with my decision to stay away from big dslr's and glad i moved up from point and shoots. these camera's can go with you in places that DSLRs cannot. Additional lenses for these cameras are expensive, but you can also by adapters to sort you out with all sorts of legacy glass.

Olympus vs Panasonic

Once again, do your research. THe GF2 is nice but expensive. Panasonic lenses have in-lens stabilization whereas olympus has it in the body, which i like and it means IS will work with any lens. Panasonic takes slightly better video.

Olympus EP-2

I would definitely get this camera over an epl-1 (and the new epl-2 for that matter). It's solid, with lots of steel. Everyone who has seen it loves its retro look. It has got tons of options that I will be able to use more as I become a more experienced photographer.

This deal (the one with 17mm f2.8 lens):

This deal is awesome! It is super compact with pancake kit lens. However, panasonic has a 20mm (without image stabilization) that people absolutely love. Therefore, a great way to go as well is the deal with the 14-42 lens and buy the panny 20mm. I personally love this deal. My next lens will be a better zoom than the 14-42 kit lens (although you can find great deals on those online), perhaps 14-200, or a wide angle. I will probably tag this review to the 14-42mm deal as well, as the other sections of the review (and somehwat this one) are relevant and the 17mm deal has one left.

Accessories needed:

also, buy a filter (spend about 80 dollars on a multi-layered uv filter so there wont be as much flare when shooting into the sun), an extra battery, and of course a data card!

Buy Olympus PEN E-P2 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 17mm f/2.8 Lens Now

I've been involved with photography for a long time and have always tried to get a combination of high image quality in small, very portable systems. My best SLR combo was the Nikon FE with a couple of great prime lenses. We have had two DSLR's a Canon and a Nikon, both great but too much gear to travel with. We went to a Canon S90, great picture, lots of control and very portable but small sensor image limitations. Started looking at micro 4/3's in the summer of 2010 and ended up deciding on the Olympus E-P2 after a trial with the Panasonic GF1. My decission was driven by the amazing JPEG quality of the E-P2. I shoot RAW when necessary but like to avoid post processing. We have added a Panasonic 20mm F1.7 lens and this makes shooting in low light a dream.

The E-P2 will give you results that closely match a good mid-level DSLR. The camera is small and portable with a pancake lens.

Pros:

Small, thoughtful compact design.

Outstanding build quality with a solid feel.

In body stablization that works very well.

Very good LCD screen and class leading EVF

Excellent comtrols with dual control wheels.

Terrific JPEG image quality.

AF tracking in still and movie modes.

Great video quality.

Very good color rendition.

Very high resolution.

Excellent high-ISO performance.

Poster size prints that will amaze.

Cons:

Short battery life.

No built-in flash.

Steep menu learning curve.

Accessory port limited to single accessory use, can't use EVF with flash.

EVF, although great, is an expensive but necessary accessory.

No built-in flash, optional flash is expensive.

The camera itself works really well. I usually use the manual mode and I like the fact you can switch which dial adjusts which setting. I find it easier for the sub dial to adjust shutter speed and have the main dial adjust the f-stop. Factory default is the other way around. The camera takes great photos. It took me a while to get used to the LCD display being so bright with Live View Boost on as it made determining a correct exposure a little confusing since what you are looking at is not changing with changes in the settings. I finally turned Live View Boost off but with a reminder to turn it back on in low light situations. On my camera with the 17 mm lens, when set to f-16 or higher, a small round spot, just a little darker than the background, will show up in the photo especially when taking a photo of the blue sky or a subject of a single light color(like the side of my white pickup). I have determined that this is the aperture hole somehow showing up in the photo due to some optical deficiency of the lens. At larger apertures the lens seems to work fine. And to be fair it doesn't seem to appear when taking photos of subjects with contrasting areas, only of subjects of one single color, like the blue sky or a white background. Overall, I recommend the E-P2 even with the 17mm lense and just work around what you know may be a problem. Another review I read about the 17mm lens recommended the 14-42mm zoom over the 17mm stating it was a superior lens. If like me, you find an E-P2 priced just right but with the 17mm lens, go ahead and get it with confidence.

This camera has a larger sensor than most point and shoots. The 17mm 2.8 is definately a high resolution lens. I have a 11x14 of an Amishman where you can count hundreds of whiskers individuality! Great lens. Also have photo of an Italian ceramic mostly of roses. Captured item beautifully.

Epson POWERLITE 93 Plus 2600 Lumens XGA LCD Projector

Epson POWERLITE 93 Plus 2600 Lumens XGA LCD ProjectorI purchased this after a fair amount of research and I am not disappointed at all. The brightness is more than I had expected. The resolution is much sharper than anticipated as well. The integrated speaker is quite loud, but a mono-speaker, so the quality of sound is not the best.

I've had no issues at all with this. If anything develops down the road, I'll re-visit.

This projector was easy to set up, and came with a monitor cord and power cord. We have since bought an HDMI cord to transfer sound and picture from the computer to the projector in one shot. Very bright in our office conference room, and easy to adjust for uneven table heights and focus. It has so many ports in the back, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to plug in just about any device someone brings a presentation on. A couple of neat features are that you can plug in 2 computers and toggle between them, slide an attached cover over the lens when its not in use, and adjust volume with the remote it comes with. Good buy!

i was hesitant about making this purchase as I have no experience with projectors. The reviews I read on the Internet for this model looked good, so I decided to go for it.

So far, no regrets at all. Picture quality and sound quality are strong, inputs work well. Easy to use, easy to manage, really great experience so far.

Only negative I can think of so far is that it would be good to have multiple HDMI inputs and not just one...

Optoma TX542, XGA, 2800 lumen, networkable, DLP Multimedia Projector

Optoma TX542, XGA, 2800 lumen, networkable, DLP Multimedia ProjectorI got this projector over a year ago. I have been very impressed with it overall. The picture quality is very nice and the lamp plenty bright. I use it as as a replacement for a television for TV and gaming and really enjoy it. The build in speakers are fairly good for being build into the unit. Naturally, for a permanent setup you would want to have external speakers but if using it for mobile presentations these speakers should be more than adequate. The number of inputs makes it a very good unit for a variety of uses.

There was a problem about a year in. The unit started showing some dead pixels. (A common problem, I read.) I immediately contacted Optoma and they were very helpful. I sent it in and they sent me back a refurbished unit in under a week. Very impressed with Optoma's service! :)

I use projectors instead of tvs because you can get a bigger screen for less money. This one put my last one to shame. The picture is very clear and really bright. I had a lamp on right next to where it was projecting and it was still really bright. Also I am currently projecting on a gray wall. I am very happy with this projector. The HDMI hook up is great for using my xbox 360. This is the best projector I have owned so far. I would recommend it to any of my friends that wanted a good projector.

Nikon D5100 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 32GB Card + Case +

Nikon D5100 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 32GB Card + Case + Filter + Remote + Tripod + Cleaning & Accessory KitI brought this Product like a week back its pretty good cam. I rate cam 5 star but accessories Like Filter tripod cleaning kit and remote looks like cheap quality probably this is my first cam kit I brought I feel so, I haven't seen any cam kit before... Tripod which I received was different from which it is listed but customer service guys gave credit for that...

Pros:

32 Gb memory card which worth $35

Cam Bag of original Nikon Brand which is worth more that $25 I believe.

Kit savior of 50$ I think!!!

Cons:

Shipping Charges are Very High!!!

Remote quality was not good and Initially it was not working until I changed the cell in that!!

My first nice camera. I also purchased 'Multimedia Workshop, Magic Lantern Guides' for the Nikon 5100 because I have no experience with this type of camera. It operates easily using the auto settings and also gives me the opportunity to adjust the shutter and aperture speeds myself for different effects. Love this camera. The price was fantastic for this package with all the extra items that came with it.

Buy Nikon D5100 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 32GB Card + Case + Now

Out of all the money I have spent in the last year this camera is the most rewarding thing I have bought. If you are a total novice you will be able to spin the dial to the appropriate scene option and take the best pictures you have ever shuttered. If you are someone returning to photography all of the settings you need will be there, easy to find, quick to manipulate. The D5100 takes excellent pictures over a wide range of ISO settings thanks to its large 16MP CMOS. The internal settings like white balance and focus mode are easy to understand and use. There are lots of special effects built into the camera if you're into that, like selective color, or HDR. Unlike the higher-cost pro models this camera does not have a lot of flash-control options, but if you're like me and you are using it for outdoor photography and more informal shoots that does not matter. I absolutely love this camera. The package from Cameta comes with a tripod, UV filter, nice 32GB card, wireless remote, and other accessories it is an excellent bargain!

Pentax X90 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Super-Telephoto Triple Shake Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inc

Pentax X90 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Super-Telephoto Triple Shake Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCDThe pictures come out really well and almost professional looking. The camera responds well, feels really comfortable in the hand, with the controls easily accessible and responsive. I was looking for an inexpensive camera like the Nikon P100 but without too many picture taking compromises and without AA batteries. So the X90 fits the bill, yet, the missing lens thread, manual pop-up flash and the childish scene options interface make it a bit awkward overall. I am tempted to keep it though because it is pretty fast in startup, while less so in flash charging, light weight and capable of tremendous zoom. It looks great here on Amazon but rather amateurish once I opened the box. Of course, I shouldn't expect that much from a camera in this price range, and perhaps I should just appreciate the terrific picture quality this baby is capable of so thanks Pentax, a job well done albeit it a bit lacking in some regards, Wish I really could have that Fuji E900 in an upgraded version, but the Pentax X90 will do for now.

UPDATED

After taking a number of shots with the camera over the past few weeks I can say that it performs remarkably well. Sure, it's not a professional camera but the clarity is astounding at this price point. The image stabilization is world class IMHO. Both at macro and tele, the camera performs excellently. There were a few situations in which it underperformed. A friend's Samsung P&S was able to get better backlit portrait shots (the background came out much better but that same Samsung did a terrible job with any other portrait shot so Pentax left it far in the dust overall), and I had to adjust the flash to -2.0 to reduce the strength. The default settings of the camera have the flash set for super bright and white balance to wash out most colors. This is adjustable once I became familiar with the menu options. What I really, really like about it is that it remembers all your custom settings. I have one at Program, Scene, and Manual. Each time I want to take three different shots to get a variety of results in difficult lighting conditions, all I have to do is turn the dial to another mode and it automatically returns to my previous setting. When I couldn't get a good outdoor portrait shot of my wife, I turned to Manual mode, adjusting the aperture such that I got good exposure with the flash and in the background. The options are virtually endless! The camera says it's made in Indonesia if that is important to you. Excellent job Pentax!

PROS

Numerous customization options for the beginner and advance amateur

Superb image stabilization

Relatively small size

Excellent fit and grip for average size hands

Excellent image quality for the price

Li-Ion battery for large number of shots

CONS

Awkward menu options, takes many clicks to get what you want (but that's too be expected considering how many options there are)

Awkward lens cap (comes off easily)

Build quality average, when you shake the camera you can feel the lens moving about a little

Charging unit comes with separate cord. The plug should have been built in for easier carrying (like Panasonic in same price class).

No lens thread. This is actually a major disadvantage because a polarizing filter could make lots of outdoor pictures with this camera much better than they already are. In this economy, Pentax should have taken the trouble to put a thread in, even if it were plastic, IMHO.

UPDATED JANUARY 12, 2011

Since Amazon has it back in stock, let me expand a bit on my experience with it. After several months of extensive use, I no longer find the lens cap issue to be a big problem. Even though I put the camera right into a shoulder bag with other items or in a backpack or briefcase, the lens has yet to get scratched by anything. The cap comes off quite easily, but that's actually an advantage too, I flip it off with a finger of the same hand that's holding it. The viewfinder is excellent and gives you all the info you need. I make much more use of it then I thought in the beginning.

Image quality in wide angle mode is pretty amazing overall. The only problem I find is with the panoramic function. It could be just me but I have the hardest time lining up the overlapping parts. The camera guides me through the process so it should be a piece of cake but the results are always off somehow.

Now that I live close to the beach I take more wildlife and surfing pictures. Chromatic aberration is noticeable especially at the longest zoom setting in higher contrast situations. I love the long zoom, rarely do I take pictures in between the wide angle and farthest zoom setting.

VIDEO

I have yet to get any useful video out of the camera. It's always overexposed and jittery. Don't buy this if you're planning to shoot video with it!

Hi there i want everyone to know, i finally have found a great point and shoot camera, i have owned many cameras including the panasonic f35 which has great ratings, how ever the pentax has gone a few steps forward. I ordered this to take pics of the kids playing baseball, getting awards, and all of the other fun stuff kids do. I received the camera in my hand less than 24 hours after ordering it. It has a slight learning curve, but only took a little time to get. I am so pleased, I recommended the camera to a co worker, and she ordred one as well. It takes great pics. So vivid. Well, thats my $.02. Thanks so much.

For the price and performance I was quite delighted. I had wanted a small sized camera with a SLR and also with see through viewing. LCD screens have their place but they can be difficult in light/shadow environments. Simply put, it was simple to use and served ny needs.

I have had this camera for more then a month. I have taken well over a thousand photos and am thoroughly impressed with the camera overall. The super macro is outstanding. I have taken so many close ups of very small things....(Ex. Ladybug eggs, small dragonflies, water droplets on greenery)that numerous people have asked me what camera am I using. I have also taken some really cool digital zoom photos as well. I am an amateur photographer and have used Fuji, Hp, Pentax SLR 35mm. I find that every photographer and their camera will not take perfect pictures 100 percent of the time but if you read your manual and enjoy taking photos you will not only find awesome ways to use this camera but you will not want to let go of this camera.

Some Pros:Amazing super macro, digital zoom, anti shake, many shooting options, ease of use, fun pre-installed picture frames, night time with flash, good size screen, viewfinder, battery charges a quick hour and a half. A cinch to connect to PC.

Some Cons; lightweight, not enough rubber grip, I would have liked a larger grip area, lens cap(but similar camera lens caps generally come the same),battery life about 200 or so pictures. Picture playback option a bit awkward (have to hold power button and play button together? Just play button would have been fine.

Conclusion.... At the new much lower price (Price was higher when I bought it) I would tell you to jump with both feet! Awesome camera for this price point Period. I have some photos up from this camera..check them out!

Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 16GB Card + .45x Wide Angl

Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 16GB Card + .45x Wide Angle & 2.5x Telephoto Lenses + Filter + Tripod + Accessory KitI cannot put into words how pleased I am with this product. I did a lot of research before purchasing my camera. Many of the places I checked wanted $649 or more for just the camera. When I found this bundle I was extremely shocked and happy. I made the purchase and received everything much faster than I had expected. I could not be any happier!!!

This is the 3rd Nikon we purchase and it is an excellent choice, , and this one is particularly great with all the extras that it brings for the price. I am taking a course to learn to use it properly and to take advantage of all the functions and amenities.

We knew the D3100 is great camera. But this is a fantastic value package. Highly recommend it if you don't immediately want to get multiple full lenses. The quality of the adapters is very impressive. The package includes a nice case and a decent tripod too.

Overall I was happy with my camera kit, however, the addtl lens adaptors that come with it were not satisfactory. I actually ended up having to buy an actual zoom lens. After I received the kit I did check out some addtl reviews and all said they felt the lens adaptors were inadequate as well.

As for the shipper I have no problems the mdse arrived in a timely manner and intact. I would purchase from them again.

The camera +18-55mm=awesome! The bag=awesome! Tripod=awesome! Everything else is un-needed and extremely cheap. Great starter pack, but I recommend buying just the camera and lens and buying the other items individually. It costs a little more, but you get what you pay for. If you buy it right the first time, you won't have to buy it again!

Canon DC10 1.3 MP DVD Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

Canon DC10 1.3 MP DVD Camcorder w/10x Optical ZoomMy title says it all. I've lost footage several times, corrupt discs all the time. The worst part is, it makes you think you're recording, and then you go to play it back, and it's not there. This is a certified piece of junk. Mine may just be a lemon based on other reviewers, but why take the risk when it comes to recording fun memories?

I bought this for my sister as a wedding present. The camera has a lot of good features. But when they used a set of DVDs on it, they found that only 1/2 of the discs they used would record correctly. not sure if the problem is with the disks or formatting.

More importantly, this camcorder does not allow for the video to be transferred to Apple Mac's. It only allows images taken with the camera to be transferred. This is a big disappointment and we will have to sell this camera on Ebay now or something.

Usually i'm a big fan of Canon camcorders and camera's. I'm on my 2nd Canon camcorder now and just bought a digital camera. But Canon should have made this camera with support for Mac's. its ridiculous.

I've had a dc10 for years and love it. I got it when my first son was born more then 8 years ago and it is still going strong. I have a stack of mini dvds that this camera has made and most look great. The ones in poor light kind of came out grainy but they were recorded in poor light! I will use this till it dies because I like how easy it is to use. What is really good about it is it records on little dvds for 20 minutes. Who wants to watch more then 20 minutes of home movies ?? And if you want more then 20 minutes, just pop another dvd in. I don't like the idea of recording hours and hours of home movies and then do what with them?? take time and edit them down to "the best parts" I will always (as long as they keep making them) buy the mini dvd camcorders because I like the fact that they are short and sweet and can be watched in your home dvd player right after you record them, no editing or putting on your computer to burn to dvd and then watch. I know the built in memory kind or memory stick kind can be plugged into your tv and watched but how do you find the good part when you have tons of video to look through ?? And what if Grandma wants a copy?

Samsung SNH-1011 SmartCam IP Camera

Samsung SNH-1011 SmartCam IP CameraLet me tell you this. Previously, my home was burglarized, and burglars destroyed my security DVR by smashing it with sledge hammer. How outrageous.. Since then, I was looking for security devices that secure from those violent acts. That is the reason why I choose an IP camera. I researched through Internet and saw all the comments about how horrible IP camera is. So, I didn't have a high hope on IP cameras but decided to give a try. I ordered each IP camera that available on Amazon, and end up with this SNH-1011. Here is my review for Samsung SNH-1011.

Great picture quality and transmitting speed:

I saw couple of complaints about choppy and lagging video, but I guess Samsung step up with this problem. There are three type of option for bandwidth speeds; High, Medium, Low. I tested all these setting with my Verizon Fios and guess what? With highest setting, there is no delay at all! Medium 0.3 sec delay and low 0.8 sec delay. Not a big deal.

(I just confirmed with Samsung's representative that Samsung will expand their data server within US)

Set up is easy and simple:

The manual that Samsung provides is quite straight forward. You just have to follow their instruction. The downside is there are so many features that need more time set up such as YouTube, Picasa, E-mail notification, and etc. It took me around 35 minute to set whole thing up including other features. Once I set it up, it was working flawlessly.

Web Browsers:

I tested it with several web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. As a result, each browser has different installation time and transmitting speed. My preference is Chrome > Internet explorer > Firefox > Safari. Also, Safari does not support bandwidth option somehow. I tried to adjust it, but browser wouldn't let me. It was no big deal to me since I probably use SNH-1011 with either Chrome or Internet explorer.

Android and iPhone App:

SNH-1011 has free app called "SmartCam Mobile". Available on both Android and iPhone App store, but if you such through iPad, it will not show up. You need to switch your setting to see iPhone App compatibility apps. I do not know why Samsung does not list this app to iPad store, but they need to create an app for iPad since iPhone SmartCam Mobile app is does not work efficiently with iPad (stretched image just bothers me).

Slick looking with heavy base:

I love the exterior design of SNH-1011. Looks slick and has bright white color. LED Status light is also big plus (Red, Blue, and Purple). On the bottom of unit, there is a heavy weight component to prevent SNH-1011 to fall down. The weight is just about the right and can be removed.

I believe that Samsung is trying hard to make this SNH-1011 right. Only downside is it does not support cloud storage. To me, 30 sec record through YouTube is not enough. Also, I agreed that there should be way to protect our user ID and password. I'm not quite comfortable with this. If you are not going to use features like Picasa and Youtube, it does not really matter. But asking e-mail address and password seems lack of security feature. I contacted Samsung to ask about this, and they mentioned that they will fix this problem, and also, they will provide cloud service around March. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase and hoping Samsung will follow up these known issues and make it better.

Samsung/Amazon need to do a better job of informing the buyer that these cameras ONLY work via an external website link to YouTube. They do not work stand-alone on your internal, behind the firewall, home network.

Cameras are nice and small and appear to be of good quality. Don't know if they work because unfortunately, you cannot even turn the camera on without first agreeing to provide Samsung freedom to record and use your pesonal information. It is so bad they won't even let you watch the installation video without giving them your personal information. Secondly, you cannot hook these cameras up to your internal WIFI network; no, you can only access the video security feed via YouTube and Twitter! Are you freeking kidding me, you want me to broadcast video of the personal comings/goings of my household to YouTube and Twitter! You also expect me to provide Samsung, a foreign company, with a permanent tunnel through my firewall; now that is security!

Sure, the Samsung server records my streamed video to a supposedly "secure" portion of YouTube. If you believe anything in the public domain is SECURE you're nuts.

I've tried two other WIFI cameras and neither of them would stay connected on the network. So, I'm off trying yet another brand to see if someone can acutally make a home-security camera that works over secure WIFI.

I purchased this camera to checking on my cat while I'm at work or leave my house for business trips. I got to say the camera works great. It is not HD quality but by having this, I do not have to worry about my cat all the time. It was pretty easy set up with guide. I'm not quite tech savy but I was able to connect this camera with my wireless router. The picture is very clear and easy to navigate on cell phone. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to use iPhone to check their beloved pets.

At first I was skeptical of purchasing this product because of the bad reviews. But I decided to try it out because I am a fan of Samsung products and they never let me down. Plus I liked the design and the upload to youtube was very interesting to me.

I received the product very quickly and smoothly without any problems with free shipping. So that was the first positive sign. I remember I really liked the look of it when I first saw it. Good looking camera and I can tell it was not made with cheap materials.

Other things that I liked were the quality of the video, audio, and night vision. The white noise is kept to the bare minimum and does not bother me at all. The video during the day and the night vision is great as well.

The youtube feature on this product is innovative. Others have complained and were worried that strangers can view your recordings; however, you can relax because it will be uploaded as private. I made a new youtube account just for this camera which was very simple.

In sum, I guess this review is for all that is a little skeptical about this camera. But I own it and it works great for me. You can be confident that this will perform what it advertises it to be.

First of all, I agree this camera is very easy to setup, literally in about a minute or two, you can have the camera up and running. I bought it because it was a Samsung and I have had great success with their products. I also bought it because, it optionally uses a wired setup to the router and since I intended on placing the camera in the room with the router, I might as well have a wired access for faster more reliable use.

If you intend on using this as a baby room monitor or other room in the house that you occupy within the wireless router then, it is a great camera.

However, if you want to use this camera as remote monitoring, using Samsung's website then I say beware. If you want to view the camera with the website, then you are stuck in "relay mode".

This means that you are limited to 3 minutes of use and very slow, grainy response since your video is passing thru Samsung's servers. I called the toll free number that was included in the package. The explanation given was that I am using 2 devices prior to the camera. Namely a cable modem and a router!! Samsung support indicates that they do not support live remote monitoring unless you are connected directly to the modem, not the router!! What's the point of having a wireless camera then?

Samsung clearly missed the mark on this product

update May 23, 2013

Apparently last night Samsung did an update on their website for monitoring this camera. In the process, the deleted all the registration information and I have to re-register with the serial number from my camera. Well, I'm not sitting next to my camera, that's the whole point. Customer service cannot give you your serial number over the phone and they don't know why camera registration's got deleted
