Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security--Indoor Add-On Camera

Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security--Indoor Add-On CameraThese cameras work very well as security devices and are reliable and easy to set up. I have two in place. I ordered this as an additional camera and the design has been changed. There is now a fan on the power unit of the camera which makes a noticible noise. This may not be a problem if the camera is placed out of the way somewhere but would be heard if it is in a public/ open area.

I am a working mom with two small children that are with a nanny for three days a week. I bought these cameras to be able to see what was happening in my house during the day while I was away. I LOVE them!! I can log in from my computer at work and see what is happening in four different rooms. I can check my son's nursery to see if he is sleeping when its suppose to be nap time. I can look into the living room to make sure the TV is off when its suppose to be. I feel much more connected to them during the day and more secure knowing that I can see them and can "supervise" just a bit even though I can't be there all the time. The cameras were very easy to install which is a plus for me since I'm not particularly techno literate. Would recommend these to anyone!

I like this system a lot for the fact that it works as described. I have it looking out my front window to track people coming to the front door. I only found a few problems:

It seems to activate to record clips even though the motion sensed is outside the area set up in the software. I excluded the road but it still records every car that drives by.

I had it set up to email me a snapshot when it sensed motion. It worked for a while but it stopped. I guess I have to sign up for the Platinum service?

You have to sign up for the service to zoom control the camera remotely and to be able to watch recorded videos remotely.

Lastly, the most important problem. The power adapter has a fan that is very audibly noisy. It's pretty annoying, about as noisy as my Playstation 3. Sometimes the fan pick up dirt and moans even more.

Works well. I have indoor cameras looking outdoors through my windows, keeping an eye on my entry ways. I have motion detection recording enabled. Night vision is adequate if you have bright outdoor lights. 2 problems I encountered were, the need to delete recorded images atleast every 24 hrs {you can save segments} to keep your computer hard drive from being strained and WiLife system only works when computer is on. If you shut down your hard drive, WiLife is also shut down.

This product is very simple to install and use. The color clarity is also very good. During the day it does fine looking outside, but the "night vision" is lacking.

Sony DCRTRV530 Digital8 Camcorder with Builtin Digital Still Mode

Sony DCRTRV530 Digital8 Camcorder with Builtin Digital Still ModeSony's Digital8 cameras have been consitently good for a number of years. This new line (the 30 series) seems to be a step down from their usual high quality.

I bought the TRV530, and for the most part, I am pleased.

First offthe good features: this camera has a very nice, high-rez 3.5" LCD screen, a more sensitive focus ring than previous cameras, and all of the built-in connections are streamlined along the camera's base, freeing up room around the headphone and mic connections near the base of the lens.

Now, the bad. Most of these comments are more aesthetics than anything, so it'll just take a little getting used to.

Sony's new line now uses the InfoLithium M-series batteries, which are about half the size and twice the price of the L-series batteries used on all previous D8 cams. All of the digital, picture, and auto-exposure options are deep within Sony's on-screen menu instead of having easy-access buttons.

This camera is very compact in size and shape, which is very nice and sleek. However, one compromise of the camera's size is that now, the tape loads from the bottom. At first this is kinda cool, but then you realize that if you're using a tripod and need to change tapes, you must pop the camera off the tripod, remove the mounting plate, eject the old tape, pop in a new one, and remount the camera on the tripod, which, in my opinion, is extremely stupid on Sony's part.

Another thing that really annoys me is the Black and White viewfinder. Whereas all of the cameras in the 20 and 10 series had color viewfinders, all of Sony's new cameras have Black & white viewfinders, which makes it impossible to pick out anything colorful when it's too bright to use the LCD screen.

Alsowhereas Sony's TRV720 had a huge 4" LCD screen, the largest LCD screen you can get now is the 530's 3.5" screen. (The TRV730, the so-called "replacement" to the 720, only has a 2.5" screen.)

But again, all of the above comments are aesthetics only, and I'm sure that eventually I can get used to these changes. However, one new feature that bothers me a bit is the grain. Sure, all cameras will become grainy in low-light situations because you have to gain up the iris in order to see. But I've been noticing a subtle but distinct graininess even in full sunlight. The cameras in the 20 series had a slight grain to them all the time, but in this camera the grain seems a bit more defined.

All-in-all, it's a good camera with many nice features (like the 1/30th sec shutter speedgreat for a more film-like look.) But the problems with grain and the overall stupidity of a Black and White viewfinder knock down my rating for this.

The TRV-20 series was a work of art. The new TRV-30 series seems more like a step in the wrong direction.

Sony, why mess with a good thing?

I purchased this camera a few weeks back. I've had camcorders for nearly 15 years and I can tell you that this camera is definantly worth every penny. The 3.5" screen is so easy to use. It makes every shot a breeze. The 7oox zoom allows you to get close-up that were previously not possible. I use it alot at my daughters musicals, etc. No longer do I have to position myself near the front on the floor. I can go to the back of the gym at the top of the bleachers and do my filming. Having the memory stick feature to be able to take digital pics is just an added bonus that puts this camera over the top. Hats off to SONY for an all round PERFECT camera. No complaints.

Buy Sony DCRTRV530 Digital8 Camcorder with Builtin Digital Still Mode Now

I have been using a Sony 8mm camcorder for a number of years. I bought this because my wife wanted a digital camera and I wanted to edit video on my computer.

The digital editing has worked out well and it has been fun, once I got my firewire card to work right. The software that comes with it works adequately. I was disappointed in the video quality in low light situations. It gets very grainy compared to my old 8mm unless you turn on Nightshot, but then everything is a shade of green.

The digital camera piece is also disappointing. The picture quality is very poor, though OK for my wife that prints mostly 2X3 inch pictures for scrapbooks. She went with this size because anything bigger looks bad. I do not like looking at the pictures on screen because of the poor quality.

For the price I don't know that you can get any better and I still enjoy and use it, but the quality wasn't as good as I had hoped.

Read Best Reviews of Sony DCRTRV530 Digital8 Camcorder with Builtin Digital Still Mode Here

Buyer beware. The 640 X 480 pixel resolution of the still photos cannot be printed in an acceptable quality. I have been happy with the camcorder functions and the digital media is easy to work with but the poor still quality is a real problem for me.

Want Sony DCRTRV530 Digital8 Camcorder with Builtin Digital Still Mode Discount?

This was my first video camera that I've ever owned. I really liked the video quality in a lighted area (daylight or lots of indoor lighting). I also liked the sound quality especially with a help of the zoom microphone. Also loved the 3.5" LCD and the high range optical zoom (25X). But was disappointed with the nightshot (even with the IR optional lighting accessory). The Digital still photo quality is less than average, i.e. don't buy this camera if Digital still photography is as important as video recording for you. I was also very disppointed that I was not able to use my Remote Commander to view the Digital still photos (memory). I wish that I would have spent a bit more and bought the DCR-TRV 830.

Nikon EH-62D AC Adapter

Nikon EH-62D AC AdapterI purchased this and an additional battery. You could almost get away with your original battery only and this adapter. I leave this adapter at the computer, which allows you to charge your battery while you are downloading your images. You have to take your battery out, which allows you to charge it.

Good item, that i do use.

We purchased this as a power supply for my daughter's camera for her science project. The supplied battery is good for about 450 pictures before it dies. The time lapse mode needs power for at least 1800 photos, so an ac adapter was necessary. Works great!

I ordered this product because I lost the one that came with the camera.

While it works well, it is a bit inconvenient. Lots of part.

Would I recommend it, absolutely. It works, and that's what I wanted.

Esky C5700 Wireless IP Pan/Tilt/ Night Vision Internet Surveillance Camera Built-in Microphone With

Esky C5700 Wireless IP Pan/Tilt/ Night Vision Internet Surveillance Camera Built-in Microphone With Phone remote monitoring supporthere's how i rate the product:

(5 being good)

1 customer service = 0

2 hardware quality = 4

3 software friendliness = 2

overall rating = 3 STARS

i purchased this from Amazon.

as always, Amazon shipment always slow.

it took them 4 days to process my order!!

i wouldn't buy anything from Amazon if other place has it too.

now on with the details review.

i have owned a more expensive PTZ ip cam from Toshiba and Panasonic.

everything works there as advertised.

on the other hand, isn't there a law for false advertisement in the USA?

let me elaborate on the false advertisement.

the reason i bought this camera but didn't work.

1 FTP doesn't work

2 email doesn't work

do a search on the web.

you will see other people can't get this to work as well.

this is software problem.

i have the latest firmware for the camera as of today.

hardware firmware #: 11.22.2.38

device Embeded Web UI Version #: 2.4.18.17

the camera is excellent for day time and night time view either wired or wireless for this price range.

though, manual is average for imported product with bad translation.

you will need knowledge in networking and configuring the router if you want to view the camera outside of your home network.

as far as monitoring goes, it's all good.

that where it ends.

what if intruder in your house and you need to take a snapshot and email or FTP remotely?

you're out of luck!!

at the time of this writing, the product has email and FTP interface but they don't work!!

this is false advertisement!

the good news is that this is a software issue.

hopefully, Foscam will fix the problem in the next firmware updates.

if you need to contact support, there's a website for FOSCAM USA.

however, they only support the product if you purchase from them.

if you purchase from Amazon or other places, you won't get support from FOSCAM USA!!

i wrote an email to FOSCAM HQ in China.

they are on vacation until October 7th.

i bought this cam to test my ip recorder software.

as my intend is not to use FOSCAM software for recording, thus, the limitation of FOSCAM software doesn't effect me.

however, for those of you who doesn't want to spend extra money to get a recorder software, you might look somewhere else.

i would recommend Toshiba IK series or Panasonic KX series or above.

of course, you will be paying a lot for it with Toshiba and Panasonic but you won't regret the money you spend!!

no headache, no bs sofware like Foscam.

further updates will be posted on my personal website w w w dot sokha dot com

The video quality of this device is good to ok. But i was expecting to get audio when i accessed this device with my android phone. No luck. the only way to get audio is with IE using an ActiveX plugin. Not what the box says. If all you want is video, this is an average device. if you want anything more this device will just disappoint.

Hardly anything worked on this camera

After two days of effort and reading blogs, it still would not communicate on my wifi system. The manual is terribly written -obviously a bad translation of some language. but more importantly, the instructions in the manual are not right and don't work. I'm sending them back.

Maybe if they redo the software, write a manual, and provide help and service support next year the camera might be a good one.

3M Mobile Projector MP410

3M Mobile Projector MP410Everyone I show this to seems very impressed by how small the projector is yet how bright and clear the picture displays. For my tests, I tried a USB thumb drive, a laptop (using the VGA-to-Universal cable that is included), and a Blu-Ray player via HDMI. I fired up Planet Earth on the Blu-Ray, and it looked wonderful. Next, I ran a video game from a laptop for about an hour, and the projector did get hot but not hot enough to hurt to the touch. I also launched some videos, JPGs, and MP3s from my USB drive. The picture is gorgeous and video plays very smooth and fast. The menu system is somewhat intuitive for those familiar with modern electronics although there are some advanced features worth reading about in the manual. There are a lot of options available in the menu that one comes to expect from a modern projector including mirror imaging and image flipping to project in all sorts of environments.

PROS

====

+ Clear, bright picture that updates fast

+ Small size (doesn't fit IN your hand but does fit ON your hand)

+ Doesn't get too hot

+ Somewhat easy to navigate menus and buttons

+ Lots of input port types

+ Simple carrying case

+ Feature rich in both projector features and multi-media features

CONS

====

+ Remote not included (hard to understand this decision) -can order separately

+ No convenient way to elevate projector; uses awkward elevation screw on bottom

+ Can't remove elevation screw (which makes it hard to project level in some cases)

+ No lens cover

+ Lens scratches easy (no instructions on how to clean lens in manual, btw)

+ Horrible speaker (most smart phones sound better than this)

+ JPG slide show mode won't let you launch an entire folder

You have to pick a file in the folder to start slideshow, but the slideshow won't include any sub-folders.

Overall, this little guy is an excellent portable projector. The complaints I have are relatively minor and can often won't be a concern for someone using this with a laptop (for example, one could use the laptop speakers instead). The device is pricey but compared to the competition plus the convenience and features of this device, I think the price seems reasonable.

This is amazing for the size. You read 4 x 4 x 1.5 in size, but it's still shocking when you open it up and pull it out. I've got power bricks bigger than this thing.

First thing I noticed immediately as others have pointed out no lens cover. Seems a glaring lack for something that's designed to be taken places and used on the road at various locations.

Second thing I noticed was power cables the box it all ships in includes two other power cables for people outside the US. Not just adapters for an existing cable, but entire cables for specific plug types, so they're solid and sturdy and *not* the kind that slide off to change. That was a very nice inclusion on 3M's part, real cables, not just adapters.

The case they give with it is alright but I'm not a fan of the "handle" which kind of gets in the way of opening it fully, since the handle is stitched, just a small strip of material, that goes right over the opening. You can move it back when you open the cover but there is no slack, so I immediately think "first point of failure" for the stitching.

Inside, it's got a "suspended" pouch that the projector goes into (I've uploaded some pics of it), and on the left and right are spaces for the brick on one side and the cord on the other. Beneath the projector is the space for the included VGA to proprietary plug cable that is used to plug into the projector. The cable has it's own plug type, so if you want other cables you'll have to purchase them. Shouldn't be much of an issue generally since VGA is so common, and if you're going to do something else, the HDMI port is built into the projector, no adapter cable needed. Same with the USB port.

I fired it up, plugged it into my 15" current model Macbook Pro, and for some reason it just would not display anything. Now I've got another projector I use regularly here at the office, as well as my 24" monitor I extend to, so my computer uses extended screens all the time. Plugging this in, setting source to VGA (even setting to auto) and it would NOT output anything despite all the settings being right. The display properties on my MBP even showed the control panel for it as it should for a secondary monitor device, but nothing seemed to matter, nothing went out. After unplugging and replugging my display port adapter several times, it finally kicked in, but it was about 10 or 12 minutes after first plugging it in and trying to get it to display something.

Once it was on, and I focused it, I was pretty impressed with the clarity of the text on the wall I was projecting to. This is a conference room we use every other week for our technical meetings, so I'm very conscious of what we're used to seeing, and with the current "normal" sized projector the text never gets very clear, especially when I'm doing remote sessions to other servers and the software I use for that (Cord) scales down the 1920x1080 desktops to fit in the smaller resolution display. So habitually we just don't try to actually READ things on the remote desktops, I'm just showing the techs where things will be for whatever I'm trying to show them. This actually displayed things so they were legible and pretty clear considering the source. And for the normal things that weren't being scaled, like apps and photos and such, it displayed very well.

Of course, that's where I noticed the first downside of it darker desktops with white text on the icons don't display very well along the edges especially, regardless of how far away or how close I am to the wall and how well it's focused. It's as if there's a problem with all the dark background and the light colored text. Black text on white shows up better in that same area. So depending on your subject material, some text may display better than others depending on the colors and backgrounds.

Unit isn't too loud, a little quieter than the full sized one I've been using, but it does put out about the same amount of heat. Cooling down after you're done (hitting the power button twice to turn off the lamp) goes quicker though, even after having it up and projecting for 45 minutes or so, the fan only ran for like 90 seconds or so before it shut itself off, evidently satisfied with the temperature the LED's dropped to in that time. Unit was still very warm to the touch afterwards though, when I was carrying it back to my office. Not enough to burn, but definitely still hot on the outside.

It's still a shock to see it sitting on the table, just because I'm used to the full sized ones. Granted, with the cables and such the bag is still too bulky to just toss in my laptop case to take with me, but at least it's small enough that, as an additional case to carry somewhere, it's negligible.

The sound, as others have mentioned, isn't very good. Depending on the environment and ambient noise, you may still want to use some better external speakers. I've never been one to use a projector as a sound source anyway, so I didn't see this as worth taking away a star or anything.

Adjustement keystone is easy to adjust, but actual physical height is annoying. Most projectors have a quick adjust foot in front to elevate and adjust the angle, this has a small set screw type foot. So you have to turn and turn until you get where you want to be, no easy "lift the font and push the button till the foot hits the table" type of adjustment. And there's no side to side either to compensate for the surface. being uneven or anything. You pretty much are limited to pivoting it left or right and tilting the front up a bit.

The documentation is only on disc, which is a disappointment considering there's a large manual in there that's a hundred and some pages long, with only 10 pages per country about the warranty and safety information. I would've rather they included a printed manual in whatever language of the country it was purchased in, and throw all this useless information on the CD instead... But at least the manual is in PDF format so you can print out the file for your language easily enough, or just copy it to your computer's desktop or something convenient.

I only had one stick to try with photos, and as someone else mentioned, it won't parse folders and gather everything on the stick to play. This may be good for some people (i.e. you may have multiple folders with information specific to one thing that you'd like to display without having it play stuff from other folders) or a hinderance to others (like me, who organize photos by folders for year, month, and date).

If it were a normal sized projector, I'd give it a 3 since there's nothing THAT outstanding on it (remote has to be purchased separately, etc). It performs the functions as well as others out there. But since this thing is insanely portable and easy to take with you, that certainly rates another star because that's what sets it apart from the others I've used in the past. The size is simply mind boggling.

Buy 3M Mobile Projector MP410 Now

I'll admit, I got this particular projector with the hopes of using it as an outdoor projector. In that sense, I've been fairly disappointed in it. It isn't that the projector isn't bright and powerful, it is that the speaker is completely dreadful. Worse yet is that there is no way to plug speakers into the unit to get a better and louder sound. This makes using it for entertainment or video presentations nearly useless. That is unfortunate because otherwise it is a great machine.

It is as small as you can imagine and easy to use. The picture is bright and crisp, essentially looking like a giant HDTV. Unfortunately without a better audio options I can't give it more than three stars. But depending on what you want it for, it may be a 5 star item for you.

Read Best Reviews of 3M Mobile Projector MP410 Here

The MP410 is excellent for video and stills. My experience is limited to input from micro SD only, have not gotten the USB or internal memory to work. However, I have run a few .mp4 videos and a number of high res. stills. The cool side is that the HDMI input is very smooth from my iPhone 4S....making this little jewel very useful. With the HDMI setup, I am able to skim off the audio with a HDMI2HDMI + Audio [also from Amazon]. With this, I send the audio to the Pit Bull portable audio. The end result is just short of unbelievable.

The onboard speaker in the MP410 is very tinny and seems to be only mono (?). Anyway this feature drags down my rating seriously. And this is tragic since 3M [actually, the outsourced engineers who did the real work] could EASILY have added a 3.5 mm audio out jack which could patch into a credible system. Sorry 3M, one more case where your focus group was not awake....or, perhaps you needed it to get to market early.

Bottom line, this is a great and fun little gadget, just right for group presentations. Very portable, quality video. And, PS: the remote control is very nice.

Want 3M Mobile Projector MP410 Discount?

I wondered how will this little projector would do as far as brightness, clarity, and color brilliance.

It doesn't disappoint. Remember though, it is a small little projector. It's not one of the behemoths, so it doesn't hold up to the big players, but for what it is, it's pretty amazing.

-Size --

A big, big plus is the size. In it's case (which is another plus), it measures 9.5" x 7" x 2.5". That's small enough to put in a laptop bag with your laptop.

-Colors --

Colors are a bit saturated, but that can be adjusted in the menus. It also has different modes: Presentation mode, Bright Mode, Movie Mode, PC Mode. Each mode is different, when selecting, you have to press the okay button to see the change. The presentation mode really makes white a lot brighter, probably for slideshows with white backgrounds. It also seems to tone down the saturation.

Movie mode seems to be a good all around mode, but it's a matter of preference. Play around with what suits you the best.

-Adjustments and Setup --

Has a foot for adjusting. But you can also angle the edges of the projection to get a square projection on the wall. Those are adjusted by the Up/down buttons or V. Keystone. It's great that those options are easy to get through and you don't have to go through the menu to find them.

The left button by itself lets you select the source.

So you don't have to first use the menu button to get to the menu items that the direction buttons let you get to.

-Sound ---

If you're on a Mac and plug in through HDMI and want to use the speakers on the projector. Connect to the projector. Then go to Settings > Sound > Output and select 3M MP410

That being said, the speakers on the projector are not good at all. The sound is distorted when coming from the speakers.

You can adjust the sound from the menus on the projector, but for the quality of the sound, you'd be better off hooking up some speakers to your laptop.

-Heat --

The projector gets really hot. Just FYI. The fan will run almost the whole time. You'll want a good surface that the projector can sit on so that it can vent well.

-Projection Size --

Here's where the projector is amazing.

At 5 feet away from the screen/wall, the projection is 3.5 feet and the details, color, brightness, are fantastic.

At 9.5 feet away, it's a 6 foot projection.

At 12.5 feet away, the projection is 8.5 feet. That's huge, when you look at it. It takes up a whole wall that we tested it on.

Even at this distance, focus is still sharp enough to view 12 point font (12 point on the computer screen). It's not as bright, but it's still very good especially for a projector of this size.

-Brilliance --

The projector is bright and brilliant.

-A few Misc Notes --

Fan turns on right from the start. Gives off a bit of noise.

Use the menu to select the input if using an HDMI connection for the first time.

Wish it had a cap for the lens to prevent scratches.

It would also be nice if it came with an HDMI cable. It doesn't, but it's got an HDMI port and that's what I used to connect my Mac with the projector. If you're having trouble with the colors or brilliance, get an HDMI cable and use that.

Overall, great projector.

V7 Mini Displayport (m) to HDMI (f) Adapter (CBL-MH1WHT-5N)

V7 Mini Displayport to HDMI AdapterAmazon was the seller/fulfiller. This came in a sealed package with a hard protective sheath covering the Mini DisplayPort. The quality felt the same as an Apple-branded adaptor I own. I set this up with a MacBook Pro and an LG TV. The mirroring icon popped up in the header as soon as it was attached. Selecting Enable Mirroring was all it took for video to work. The System Preferences dialogue box for Displays even showed it was an LG TV connected.

Sound did not automatically work. And there was no option in Sound preferences to output to the TV. However, I used a 3mm cable in the headphone jack and sent the output to my surround sound system. Worked great.

At a price under $10 (and fulfilled by Amazon), this was well worth the money.

I have:

Model Name: MacBook

Model Identifier: MacBook5,2

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 3 MB

Memory: 2 GB

The V7 Mini Displayport did not fit the port on my Macbook. The staffperson at the Apple store told me that my version of a Mac does not have an adapter for HDMI if you also want sound. They have one for just video display, for which you need the adapter: Micro DVI.

Again, the only audio you will get from that will be from the computer speakers, not your TV.

He recommends a VGA cable with a mini-DVI to VGA adapter

Defender SN301-8CH-008 8 Channel H.264 Smart DVR Security System with Coaching iMenu and 8 Hi-Res C

Defender SN301-8CH-008 8 Channel H.264 Smart DVR Security System with Coaching iMenu and 8 Hi-Res CCD Night Vision Surveillance CamerasThe Defender SN301-8CH like the average security camera system that sells to the general public averages in resolution around 420 TV lines which is barely enough to clearly identify anybody over 10 ft. Therefore if you ever catch a criminal on camera beyond that range and you want to press charges, I found it useless to use that in court. If you are looking for good image with longer range you have to start at least with a resolution of 550 TV lines per camera which could bring the price for a 8 channel system to over $1200. Other than that system serves the purpose of monitoring your property and the software is very user friendly.

I waited about 2 months to write this review so I can give a bit more thought to it. No worries it will not be lengthy, but rather to the point.

Purchased this for a mobile audio business to watch over the shop and surrounding area, but with the cost in mind. The Defender SN301 fit the bill perfectly !

After literally weeks of searching for the 'right' one to get, browsing many stores as well as Amazon I came to this one. Granted though, I still tried to find

more for my money, simply put, there was nothing. Comparable ? Perhaps, but nothing else stood out to be a better purchase. Combined with Amazons price and quick shipping (Prime member)

it was a no brainer.

Pros:

8 Channels

Large DVR

Very easy to use web interface

Clear viewing in low light.

Cons:

None really of significance, but figured I would still mention for those wondering.

No 'real' zoom. However for the price it should not be expected, really, it shouldn't.

The zoom that it does have is digital and just single zoom or not. When zoomed

the image appears pixelated and difficult to view. Otherwise quite clear when not using zoom.

Again, must mention this was not an expectation I had, but wanted to mention for anyone wondering.

The Blackberry access .. it is simply that access via your browser. Not an 'app', but just logging onto

the site to browse your cameras. Not a big deal at all !

So in summary, would I recommend ? Absolutely.

I did have one problem when installing. The cameras use two power cables at the DVR that are pigtailed into

four 'outlets' if you will. In other words two sockets on the back of the DVR power 8 cameras, 4 per socket.

One of the pigtail harnesses was bad out the box. Odd, but true ! All cameras worked flawlessly, but without that

second pigtail you can only connect a maximum of 5 cameras 4 on the pigtail and one direct. I contacted Defender ..

Minimal hold time ( a couple minutes maybe) and I was told they would send a new one out right away. All that was required was a proof

of purchase ( from Amazon is fine). Unfortunately I never got around to this yet, but so far I will give their customer service

a huge thumbs up !

I specifically purchased this unit because of the e-mail alert feature, and was very disappointed to find out it wasn't true. The product is advertised to generate e-mail alerts to up to 7 e-mail addresses. I have yet to get it to work with one address, and more than one is impossible. This is a quote from the Defender support center; "Unfortunately there is no resolution to the issue, it appears there was a typo in the manual and on the website. We are looking into resolving this discrepancy right now but unfortunately, I cannot see a resolution to this issue in the near future, if at all, so if this will not meet your needs you may want to look into returning for a refund."

If you don't require this feature the unit appears to operate normally. It could not have been a "typo", it was obviously false advertising.

I purchased the Defender SN301-8CH system six months ago from Amazon. I will give the good/bad about this system.

I purchased this system because my vehicle was broken into while parked in my driveway. I paid to have system installed even though I could have done it myself.

My wife did not want me on the ladder. I told her she would still get paid by the insurance company if I died from a ladder fall :)

The Defender system works well under both day and night conditions. The problem is with the quality of the cameras (cheap). My system came with four Defender cameras with my 8 channel system. I purchased an additional four cameras from another manufacturer, (VideoSecu). The quality of the Videosec is much superior to the Defender cameras. (this must be a case of you get what you pay for). Not only are the Videosecu cameras visual better but the mounts and the thick quality of the BNC cables are superior.(better connection than the Defender RCA/adapter type cables).

The VideoSecu and other camera manufacturer makes several different types of cameras. I purchased small domed under eves mount cameras for the front of my home (hardly noticeable by people and don't detract from the looks of the home.) However, criminals know that they are there.

On the side and rear of the house, A good adjustable (bullet type)Camera with range and clarity are best. The bottom line, Defender makes a good control unit but they cut corners on the cameras. Buy the control unit without the cameras. I hope this has helped someone with their purchase.

Do not waste your money on this product! Clarity of camera is horrible. I purchased this product to monitor a retail store I own. I wasn't expecting HD but I was expecting a clear picture! I purchased a Samsung 4ch unit from Sam's last week for a smaller store that was tens times better than this unit from Defender. I decided to try this brand after checking the company's website and viewing the sample footage from the system. There is no way they used the same camera to take that footage. I would not recommend buying this system for any reason.

Tripp Lite B125-150 HDMI over Cat5 / Cat6 Extender HDMI/HDCP

Tripp Lite B125-150 HDMI over Cat5 / Cat6 Extender HDMI/HDCPNever got this to work and I spent a lot of time with Tripp-Lite technical support. The first box always had an error light and after performing a bunch of tests for them, it was determined to be defective so they replaced it with another set. The next box did not have an error but would not pass a signal. I tried 3 Sources (Directv HD DVR, Sony 1080P unconverting DVD, Toshiba 1080P upconverting DVD) and 3 different destinations. Nothing worked. Support was really nice, but they kept harping on refresh rates (MHZ) and suggested trying a computer where refresh could be selected. This makes me believe the product is designed for computers and not consumer electronics equipment. In consumer electronics the HDMI refresh is dictated by the resolution.

I bought a RockSoul HDMI extender which works perfectly. No power needed at 75 feet (kept the Tripp lite Cat6 cables that I had bought which I am sure helps). Great picture and perfect sound.

Returned the Tripp-lite extender to Amazon.

the buyer needs to understand that you have to run TWO CAT 5 or 6 cables for this product to work right.

They work but sometimes the timing gets off and causes flickering display images... Power cycle will generally fix this otherwise reduce the refresh rate of the display.

I purchased 2 of these extenders to connect 2 Sony HDTVs in our home to the HDMI and DisplayPort output of our desktop computer in our office. The computer has a Sapphire HD6770 Flex video card. The 2 extender runs both use unshielded 24 AWG solid wire Cat5e cable. One run is 50 feet, the other is 100 feet and the desired resolution is 720P.

The TV at 50 feet works perfect but the TV at 100 feet would drop frames and the picture would jerk once in a while showing full screen video. The audio was perfect with both TVs. I returned the Tripp Lite extender that I was using at 100 feet and replaced it with a Cable Matters HDBaseT extender (ASIN: B005H4Y6TA) which works perfect.

We are running 1080p direct from a very inexpensive Blue Ray player to a very inexpensive projector 93 ft over unshielded, good quality dual CAT6 and we didn't even need the power supply that came with this setup. Who knows how far this setup will run WITH the power supply? It is really amazing. It is instant-success, no setup, no tweaking. Just plug and play. An engineer from one of our local TV stations borrowed it and ordered 30 of them. One thing to remember is that Tripp Lite is a quality name. They have been around the electronics business for decades and they put their name on a number of excellent lines now. We buy their surge suppressors and UPS's because they are simple, basic functions that just work at a great price.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i 3 Lens Pro Kit Featuring Canon 18-55mm IS Lens + Canon EF 75-300mm III Lens + C

Canon EOS Rebel T3i 3 Lens Pro Kit Featuring Canon 18-55mm IS Lens + Canon EF 75-300mm III Lens + Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens, Also Includes: 0.45x High Definition Wide Angle Lens & 2x Telephoto HD Lens, 16GB SDHC Memory Card & Reader, Dedicated Shoe Mount Flash, Replacement LP-E8 Battery, Deluxe Backpack and Much More...The camera and canon lenses are great! However, I wish the other items were better quality and not so generic. Also, the ad listed a deluxe backpack, but came with a slim sling bag( one shoulder).

But, I do need to say seller I purchased from has excellent customer service!

At first glances, this was a phenomenal bundle with so many great accessories. Indeed when my package arrived, i had everything that I thought I wanted. After using these products for a month, one lense fell completely apart, my camera's calibration is tilted, and the backpack has ripped in so many places. The memory card only holds a 12mp on each picture when the camera takes a 21.1mp. One battery is the actual canon battery while the other is a unmarked generic battery that has little life to it. Everything is so generic in this package, nothing is extra special nor a must buy. I could buy this low quality tools on my own for less than this marking price. I am not pleased with with this bundle at all.

I recently got this camera after wanting it for quite some time. It's a fantastic camera. It's great how you can use the auto settings for quick shooting and beginners, and also that you can use advanced settings and modes to do manual shooting and improve on your skill as a photographer. It's definitely worth the money. :)

SecurityMan ToolCam inspection camera handgrip with LED light and detachable wireless LCD monitor

SecurityMan ToolCam inspection camera handgrip with LED light and detachable wireless LCD monitorIt depends on what you're using this for, but if you want to look for small defects like a small crack on the surface this isn't the camera to use.

When it gets too close to the item (1"?) there is no detail and it's out of focus. Sometimes turning the light down helps a little, which makes the picture grainy.

The monitor is also not the greatest resolution for finding tiny faults, but you can connect it to a bigger TV if you can find the right cable (not included).

It comes with a cube type wall charger for the monitor (TV) portion. It doesn't charge the camera/light pistol assembly which takes 4 AA batteries (not included).

For anything that you don't have to look at very closely, this is a good deal. The pictures are good with the adjustable brightness on the LED.

The wireless works perfectly so you can move the handle however you need to, watching the monitor wherever it's convenient to put it.

Comes with a nice box that makes it easy to put away.

A good deal for the price depending on what you need to see.

Great camera. Same camera 1/2 the price at Harbor Freight. No need for wireless as screen detaches. Comes in very handy!

LOFTEK® Smart equipped with P2P camera Plug and Play technology Wireless network Video with Nig

LOFTEK® Smart equipped with P2P camera Plug and Play technology Wireless network Video with Night Vision 8 IR LEDs 2 Minutes Set-up 5 Seconds to Get Live Video Free Iphone AppIt is an ok camera, solves the purpose of monitoring the doorway. I have it outside under the roof.

It Works when it is pointed outside towards a sunny area, so I can monitor who came to my house.

The night vision is just good, and gets the face clearly

The iphone app helps a lot, which allows me to monitor from somewhere else also. Also works with the Google Nexus of my wife.

It is very easy to configure.

There is audio, bit noisy, since it does not filter off the background noises, but better than nothing. I can hear cars whiz by, but very little wind noise.

That's all, since I have not played it much. I might be back if I find something new.

As usual I read the other reviews and some were disturbing. However, since this camera was precisely what I was looking for and a really good price and I was forwarded. I decided to give it a try. I't been up and running for two days now. It really was easy to set up and once I learned what command did what have had 100% satisfaction. I tried the Icloud with warning emails and text messages. It has worked flawlessly. At 3 AM, I heard my Iphone chime indicating both an email and text message. I was able to instantly view the intruder(my 6 pound cat)save the video(or still image if you prefer) of her eating food and email the video to my work email. I did the same thing at work. Mid morning the cat entered the room, I received a TM and email. I viewed the "event" saved the video and emailed it to my home email. All without a hitch. I live in a rural setting and leave my house empty often for business trips. Altohugh I have an alarm system and outside cameras, I always felt vulnerable. NOw, I really feel a lot better about my empty house being more secure.

NOTE, so far the 3G system my Iphone has isn'tvery reliable with this system. So, for the results I mentioned, 4G or WIFI is the way to go. Don't expect too much with 3G.

I bought this camer so i can monitor my almost 3yr old son and infant daughter since they share a room.Getting it to work was difficult at first because i just couldn't get it to connect to the wireless but then somehow it did it on its own( i know lucky me , i was ready to return it)

Then the next problem was getting nightvision to work, the instructions doesn't tell you that you have to create and account and log in online and select that setting on the website.so that's how i got it to work.My next dilemma is i remember it saying in the description that it has 2way audio, well i do get to hear my son but i can't figure out how to make him hear me!other than that it does the job and you can't beat the price.
