Minox DTC 600 Trail Surveillance Digital Camera with Black IR-Filter Flash with Memory Card and Mou

Minox DTC 600 Trail Surveillance Digital Camera with Black IR-Filter Flash with Memory Card and Mounting Strap for Nature PhotographyGood product to some , certainly not for me. Was expecting a flawless operation, and with every possible setting by the manual, I wasn't able to record any human activity. Had it set up on tree facing my house front door as a survelliance camera, but no matter how many times I or someone else would appear in front of it, the camera just wouldn't record it. However it did record many other activities, like motion light going on and off, leaves and branches movement on my neighbor tree's and etc.

Just my experience.

SC-NVA5 Wired Color CCTV Security Camera with AC Adapter

SC-NVA5 Wired Color CCTV Security Camera with AC AdapterThis small camera worked great out of the box. I set it up in our vacation cabin and it gives a nice view of the whole room. I connected it to an inexpensive video capture card and will be able to access it via via the internet (we have Hughes Satellite internet). I will be able to check the cabin from home to make sure that everything is alright. I may purchase more of these to put at the front door and other locations. For the money you can't beat this camera. I'm not sure how well it will work out for an outdoor location, but I am pleased with the indoor picture-it looks much like a picture that you see from security cameras, certainly not high resolution, but for money I don't think you will find a better bargain.

Just got this today. Hooked it up straight to my tv to test it. There was no color, and the picture was very jumpy, like a vcr will do when the tracking needs adjusting...only, as far as I can tell, there's no way to adjust it!. It came in an original, unopened package, but no instructions/troubleshooting guide was included. So I looked it up. Apparently this product used to be good, but the quality has since been downgraded drastically. It's supposably got night vision, but what used to be infrared sensors are now just fake pieces of plastic. Apparently the microphone has been removed also. Now I have a camera that is basically useless. Always read up on a product before you buy!

great quality/sharpness/color, can easily see individual leaves blowing in yard from 20-30 feet. latest version of camera doesn't have a microphone and IR leds have been replaced with black plastic pieces.

make sure to focus camera (twist lens) for best picture.

I just received this item, and I am livid. . . the picture on the website CLEARLY shows the camera with 6 ir LEDs. . . but when you get the product, there's just little black plastic nubs where the LEDs should be. I needed this as an IR camera. . . I guess I got swindled.

Thanks, Guys. You got my money, now there's nothing I can do.

Nikon COOLPIX S30 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Zoom Nikkor Glass Lens and 2.7-inch LCD (White)

Nikon COOLPIX S30 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Zoom Nikkor Glass Lens and 2.7-inch LCDThis is the second Nikon waterproof camera we've purchased. The first was the AW100, and I like both cameras for different reasons. I bought the AW100 for me to use while scuba diving in shallow water, and I got the S30 for the kids to use in the pool. It's perfect for them. The buttons are large and easy to use, and I like the setup the shutter button and video record button are both on top, separated by the on/off button, and all the menu, feature and playback buttons are on the back. I think this is a great design for kids.

Many of the "fun" options in the camera are definitely designed to appeal to kids, but I'm looking forward to trying some of them, too, such as the time lapse and fireworks modes.

In terms of images, the HD videos are very sharp, and the photos are also good, as long as you make sure to set the camera to the highest resolution. Note that if you select the option to add an in-camera frame to your images, the camera seems to default to the lowest resolution 2 MP so I would avoid this setting if you want good quality photos. You can always add a digital frame later with photo editing software.

I think this is a great camera if you just want something to take to the pool or the beach and you don't want to worry about the kids dropping it in the water or on the ground. It's easy to use, takes good photos, and you can't go wrong with a Nikon. The only things I don't like about this camera are the AA batteries (I wish it used the same rechargeable as my AW100) and the battery/memory card door; I have to use both hands to slide the lock one way and slide the door the other way. You won't have to worry about the kids accidentally opening it, which is a good thing, but I much prefer the design of the AW100. Other than that, however, I think this is a great camera for the price.

My daughter was excited to receive this camera from me. There are several kid friendly elements to the camera like the placement of the shutter button, power button, and video button. Also, the flash is centered, so it is much less likely she will cover the flash with her fingers. She likes the camera and the LCD screen is fine. I can attest that it is rugged and waterproof since it was both dropped on vacation and used underwater at the pool.

There a few things I don't like about the camera. The shutter button is difficult for her to press. There is no way to disable the digital zoom. She likes taking closeup pictures of things, but the S30 doesn't do well unless set in macro mode. However, the macro setting is only available after a few button clicks in the menu instead of a dedicated button. Also, my daughter likes to use the Decorate option to frame her photos as she takes them, but using decorations fixes the photos at small 2 megapixel shots. Low light performance isn't great for focusing or photo quality.

She still enjoys the camera and picture quality is fine in good light. Much better than the typical "toy" child's camera.

Note: Twice the camera has became stuck which prevented me from changing any settings or turning on the flash. This was fixed by choosing to Reset All in the camera settings.

I purchased this camera approx. 2 weeks ago and wanted my 4 year old son to get some use before rating. I feel I can provide a pretty fair summation now.

So far he likes the camera a lot but there are a couple items that annoy me as the parent supervising said 4 year old.

So...

First the Gripes

Number 1The constant clock and date reset when changing batteries drives me nuts. If you skip it you get an annoying flashing warning!

Number 2Picture quality in lower light is poor to say the least. The camera has to be held very still and then it's a gamble. When the image does come out it looks like VGA phone cam quality. The auto-flash works when it wants, most times its out to lunch.

Number 3The resolution of the screen is marginal so its hard to see if the shot is ok or poor.

Number 4As another reviewer wrote, it would be great to disable the digital zoom. It blows right through optical and into the digital very easily.

Number 5It tends to make very vibrant colors look fake. See Hibiscus of the pictures I have attached...

Now the Positive Stuff

Number 1The flash is in the center so the little guy won't cover it with either hand.

Number 2Battery life is outrageousI got 532 outdoor shots out of a single pair of rechargeable Sanyo Eneloops and had battery life to spare but it was time to go home.

Number 3In outdoor use, in direct sunlight, the pictures are very vibrant.

Number 4There is virtually no delay when hitting the button for pictures. This makes a 4 year old very happy.

Number 5We spent 4 hours plus with the camera directly in water and often submerged. We were merciless as we're still within the return period.

Number 6Underwater shots are terrific and fun!

My initial impressions when my son used the camera in our home were very bad mostly due to poor, blurry indoor images. Had we not given it a thorough tryout at a water park yesterday this review would look very different. The great pictures this camera created yesterday really helped me like the camera much more.

In summary, this camera is good for a 4 year old with little adult assistance. This is not, however, a "Family Cam" as people old enough to use a more advanced camera will insist on doing so.

Update 9/16/12

We went swimming this weekend and after a few shots underwater I noticed condensation in the lense and display... Will contact Nikon this week. Only the third time in water and less than 5 feet deep. Hope to resolve soon.

Update 9/18/12

Called Nikon. Connected with a rep very quickly but sound quality and accent made it difficult to communicate. Rep said camera should not have been taken in the water and the camera is not waterproof!!! WOW!!!

I stated the body of the camera, packaging and manual said otherwise. He said maybe he was wrong. Asked for my name and email and is supposed to be sending me a link with warranty info etc.

Update 9/21/12

Reviewed emails sent by tech. These aren't even form letter type emails. They are just links to the Nikon help website. In the email I was directed to an automated form to setup return. Guess what? The camera I am trying to return for service is not on the list. So called tech support again. "Estimated hold time is 2 minutes..." Took 13 minutes to connect. I mentioned the camera model is not on the service site. He informed me just to type up a note, print it and drop in the box. He then provided the address and recommended I ship with UPS. As I live next to a Fedex facility I asked if I could use FedEx. He mentioned he only recommends UPS as they give you a tracking number...hummm...

Update 10/15/12

Received camera back from Nikon. Everything was exactly as I sent it. I received a $0 invoice for cleaning and testing. There were no notes about anything found, just a poor photocopy of a page from the owners manual about the possibility of lens/ display moisture. I assume this means moisture in the body is normal? The phenomenon described in the paper was similar to what I experienced so I will try to use again and see what happens...

My 5-yo daughter dropped and broke my old Canon PnS that I gave her to use and since she has interest in taking snaps, I looked for a rugged camera that could survive her hands and yet be economical. This camera fit the bill. It is by and far the cheapest rugged water/shock proof point an shoot you can find. It makes cute animal sounds as alerts and the buttons are well placed. The user interface is simple and clean. It's like this was designed expressly for kids. I have no complaints at all except that you cannot set it to force flash. It's either auto or off. The camera does not activate the flash in many circumstances where it should be used. This results in blurry, grainy images where they should be flash-lit and fine. It waits for really dim light before it activate the flash. This is the only significant flaw in an otherwise well and appropriately designed camera.

I purchased this camera to take on a cruise last week. The photos were fine before we tried to use it in the water. Took the camera on a snorkeling trip and afterwards there was water behind the lens. The camera never functioned properly after that, photos continued to get progressively worse until finally it stopped working altogether. The camera's waterproof level indicated 10 feet. We never had it more than 3 feet under and it was never dropped. We had to buy disposable cameras for the rest of the vacation. So disappointed. I am returning today.

Pyle PHDMRT12 Horizontal Swivel HDMI Cable with Heavy Duty Fiber Shielding (12 feet, Black)

Pyle PHDMRT12 Horizontal Swivel HDMI Cable with Heavy Duty Fiber ShieldingI bought two of these to utilize the two side HDMI ports on my new TV without forcing seeing awkward cables coming out from the side. As the description says, it works perfectly. The adapters will swivel in both directions, so it works great for my Sony TV.

Most of the other Swiveling adapters I saw only go one direction, and it was usually the opposite direction I needed, so this did the trick and was cheaper than the rest.

I was surprised how well made the cable is, even with a nice, smooth meshed fiber jacket that gives it a nicer look (not that the look was important). Overall I would buy more of these if I had use for them.

Does what it's supposed to do. Highly recommended.

On another note I hate having to meet a certain quota for words on my review. This will definitely dissuade me from writing reviews in the future simply because I don't have a lot to say.

It works. What else do you need?

At first I thought they were crap, as the picture on my TV got all kinds of artifacts on it after using these. Then, I realized that I had inadvertently loosened the coax cable to my DVR. DOH! They have been working just fine since, and the back of my TV doesn't look like The Matrix anymore.

Savage 107" x 12yds Background Paper (#46 Tech Green)

Savage 107' x 12yds Background PaperFirst off, excellent product, great packaging, (I was skeptical about having a 9 foot roll shipped to me) and the quality is great.

I thought it would be a great addition to the Black and White rolls of this brand I got which were excellent, but for color keying this one just wasn't rich enough. The lights washed it out and it would become a lighter green instead of a richer green when you added more light....

In ideal settings it may be great and it is certainly cost effective, but I wasn't able to get it properly lit without reflection or loss of color. My settings involved vertical fluorescent tubes on either side and about a 6 foot distance from the subject (it is recommended to have it more like 10' away)

For what it is, it's great but if you're actually trying to pull the green out of video in post-production you might have to work harder than you want to in some situations.

Sony Alpha DSLRA350 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization (Body Only)

Sony Alpha DSLRA350 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Super SteadyShot Image StabilizationI don't have several hours to do a proper review on this excellent camera, but I can quickly share the high points. It has great "human factor" engineering, meaning it fits your hands like a glove and all the controls are easy to access. The camera/lens combo is very light and easy to handle. If you have any Minolta lenses, they fit. The ability to view the picture on the large, bright LCD instead of through the viewfinder is a definite plus in many situations. 14+ megapixels ... really, how many more do you need?

Here's the bottom line ... I worked for Kodak, I've been a serious amateur photographer for decades, I've shot thousands of pictures (hundreds so far with this camera) and it leaves nothing that I can think of to be desired. If you want to spend more bucks on a Nikon or Canon, have fun. But for my money, this little beauty is a clear winner.

This camera is really unbelievable for the price. If we're talking about the camera body (with no lens), I prefer it over the Canon Rebel XSi anyday (and I've used both). The problem for Sony is that their lens is sooooo crappy that the image quality goes straight down the toilet, and Canons lenses are for the most part very sharp and colorful.

The solution? Minolta lenses. I got my camera in the mail this morning and have played with it all day. From the second I unpacked the lens I was disappointedeven before I put it on the camera. It has an extremely cheap and plasticy feel, probably because it is cheap and made of only plastic. I'm actually pretty sure there's not a single piece of glass in the lens (which means, for those of you are new to this, that it sucks). I put it on and sure enough the results were not pretty. Don't run off to Canon's page so quickly, thoughremember that this IS a 5 star review.

What makes up for sony's crappy crappy lens is the fact that you can use any Minolta lens from the past 20 years. In anticipation of purchasing this camera I brought 2 Minolta lenses from a garage sale a few weeks ago for a hundred bucks, and when I put them on the camera it was like magic. The autofocus still works in an instant, and the sharpness and color combined with Sony's 14megapixel sensor have left this former film-snob utterly impressed.

So my advice to advanced amateur photographers is to buy this camera. But just the body only. Save the hundred bucks to buy yourself a Minolta lens (or two). I thought I'd throw in the extra hundred bucks with this cam just to have an extra lens for my collection, and it was absolutely not worth it. I don't even know if I'll mount it onto my camera ever again. Seriously It's a big plastic turd. I wouldn't buy it again if it was 20 bucks.

Also I learned the complete menu for this camera in less than a day. The only negative things about this camera (except for the crappy turd plastico lens) are that it's not a full frame sensor (look it up, and then decide if you really want to spend and extra 1300 dollars to get a full frame sensor DSLR), and that there's a really dumb and pointless digital zoom button that is a total tragic use of space. I could think of ten more used/usable functions that could have gone there instead.

Really though, I couldn't be happier with this camera.

Buy Sony Alpha DSLRA350 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization (Body Only) Now

I've been able to handle an Alpha 350 one and off for about a month now, and I'm quite pleased with what I've seen so far.

First, the camera's appearance is very much like that of the Alpha 200, and identical to the Alpha 300. All share the same, comfortable grip that uses a full-size lithium-ion "info" battery, and should feel good in most peoples hands. The tilting LCD screen is added from the A200, and makes it a bit thicker at the back. This thickness doesn't seem to be much of a drawback for handling, but it might make it a bit more ackward for those who wear eyeglasses.

Most of the camera controls are located in easy to use places, although the rear toggle might be too easy to hit (by mistake) for some, the idea is for it to be quickly accessable.

Performance wise, the camera seems to be greatly improved from the older Alpha 100. Image Quality (IQ), both sharpness and color wise, appear to be very good. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do critical, side-by-side, low-light/high ISO testing, something which is of a possible concern with such a high megapixel CCD sensor. Visually, those images I shot in poor lighting appeared reasonably good, but more serious testing needs to be done.

Autofocusing speed is very decent, especially when the eye-start feature begins the AF process for you. The 9-point AF seems fast and accurate. My only disappointment is that an upgrade camera such as this does not have the "instant" manual focusing ability of the Alpha 100. [This feature allowed you to use the camera in AF. Once the camera focused, it released the gearing, making manual focusing instantly possible to make corrections, without fiddling for an AF/M switch].

Of course, the built-in anti-shake ability is great. Although we can argue the merits of in-camera vs. in-lens, there is no doubt that this feature is much less expensive, and works with lenses that neither Nikon nor Canon offer with IS/VR (e.g. 50mm f1.4), and a whole bunch of older lenses as well.

Like the anti-shake system, everyone will have their opinion on what's the best way to implement Live View. I prefer the way Sony has chosen to use Live View, where AF speed is unaffected. The drawback is that only 90 percent of the actual image is previewed with Sony's system. Adding the articulated, nice quality LCD seems to me to make this system a bit more useful, and the 1.4x and 2x digital cropping may come in handy (but keep in mind, you're just cropping out megapixels).

Another feature I would have liked for this price is a wireless shutter release (it does offer a wired release).

It will be interesting to see how this stacks up to the competition. The biggest threat will come from the Canon Digital Rebel XSi. The XSi will be smaller (using a new, smaller battery), and have a 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, which may prove to be better from someone doing low light with high ISO speeds (such as museum or stage photography). Also, for $200 less, the Alpha 300 will need serious consideration. The only feature difference is it has 10 megapixels vs. 14, and this may actually improve IQ in poorer light.

Overall, a very fine addition to the Sony lineup!

I already owned a Sony A100 and liked it alot, so when the A350 came out I was expecting it to be good and it is. Some additional controls, true TTL viewing, even longer battery life than the A100 which means I've taken more than 1,000 photos at maximum quality without a battery change and it handles quickly and accurately. I have a few lenses, but like the flexibility of the Sony 18-200mm zoom so it's on the camera most of the time. The disadvantage with that lens is that it's slow (4.5 to 6.3 at 200mm) so it's not really suitable for people shots, unless they're in bright sunlight. However, the lens is fine for objects, buildings or anything that's not going to move quickly. I was in Marrakech recently and found the camera and lens a great combination, although they're big and obvious enough to make it difficult to shoot candid portraits. Now I'm looking for a 135mm f.2.4 lens so I can shoot in shadows.

Want Sony Alpha DSLRA350 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization (Body Only) Discount?

I got the Sony A350 about 2 months ago. The camera is great. I like the way it's laid out and it's easy to use. The live view and tilting screen is very hand when shooting small objects on the ground.

HOWEVER I'm a bit disappointed in the 18-70mm lens supplied with it. Under certain conditions (which I'm not sure I understand what these are) there is quite a bad flair. Red on the left, green on the right of objects. Bright and contrasty pictures seem to show this up most.

When viewing the pictures normally, this defect isn't obvious. When the pictures are enlarged to the extent that you are starting to see the pixels, this flair becomes quite obvious. I'll try to submit a picture here illustrating this. If I'm not successful, trust me that it's poor.

The good aspect of this defect is that it's not obvious unless the pictures are enlarged quite a bit, so for most photographers, it's not an issue. Dispite this problem, I like the camera and I'm glad I got it. This amazon price was also good.

I bought the Tamron 70-300mm zoom and it works well on this camera and doesn't seem to have this red/green lens flair. The Tamron is a good companion at a great price.
