Pros:

Cons:

* You need a strong wireless signal (at least good) for this to work properly, will not work properly in low signal strength. Will work but will disappear from the network after some time.

* These devices are made in China are terribly incompatible with Internet Explorer. The active X control used to view video is not digitally signed and even if you allow active x and Add ones to be installed on your computer it gives you real hard time to view the video. Tech support is unable to answer this question. However works fine in Mozilla Firefox but most of the features are disable in fire fox and can only be achieved through internet explorer.

* Field of view is another issue. It only covers some area where it is installed and the lens inside is 3.8mm which is not a wide angle. You need to buy 2.8mm wide angle to cover more area, which will cost you around 8-12 additional dollars.

* Motion activated feature can only email you or if you are using FTP will allow you to upload pictures only not the video.

* If you are using multiple access points in an area it should be configured with the right access point (by using its MAC address.

In short these devices are at their beginning stages and needs some time to get into a good shape (hardware and software). These devices are good for a small home or office but are not good at commercial level. I tried installing it in a commercial organization but end up with wasting time and money. If this camera and its brother the outdoor Wi-Fi Camera is improved for signal strength reliability and consistency with software for Microsoft Windows then it will be a good choice to install.

I bought this camera as it appeared very similar to the Trendnet IP422W. Unfortunately, there are a couple of drawbacks:

1) When connected to the network, there is a white LED on the front that continuously flashes, and there is no way to shut it off

2) Alarm events that trigger writing a video record to disk require a PC to be running firmware on it, and connected to the camera in order for this to occur. Autonomous operation writing events to a network drive are not possible.

Incidentally, this camera appears to be a BA-J011 made by BND Creative in Shenzhen

Seriously? I paid 65 bucks each for 3 of these.

Seriously though, these are made in china and it shows. ESPECIALLY in the instruction manual. It's pretty much garbage. It gets the point across, but some of it is just silly trying to decode what they are attempting to communicate.

I also have absolutely NO clue why I can't get it to show the feed on any apple products. I have tried everything I can think of from forwarding specific parts to messing with DHCP settings and configuring every bit of anything I can in my router. There is just no hope. It will NOT feed to my ipad or iphone. I've pretty much given up and will be looking for something else to use. It was a good try for 60 bucks, but in the ned, not even worth that really since it won't feed to the devices I want it to.

I wouldn't pay this price for them if i was being held at gunpoint.

I like the camerar overall.

I am changing my view on this camera to very good. After I making and error in the set up.

My caution and frustration is I bought Ip Camera so I could viw my house and rooms from offsite location.

Caution you will go through hell trying to configure these. if your Internet supplier blocks your port 80, have to configure router, pass through ports, and on and on

Internelly they are great, good price. Although I have now viewed my house from the internet outside, and I bought four of these cameras thinking it was what I wanted. I will post back after my failed endless hours plus hours of trying and reading about this proceedure to get the cam to work on WAN. I have the understanding now.

After hiring a compuer guy He fixed me up and now it is fairly simple.

others.................. You cannot just log into your home network and view your home or office. Not on cox anyway.

They will work with cox but they were worthless for any help.

The trick is to set an ip adress and a port for each of the cameras.

Then forward the same ip and ports in your router.

I am really pleased now with this camera. Especially for the price and not having to pay for a service.

It is tricky at first on IE you have to allow active x controls , unsigned active x controls and initialize scipt and active x conrrols not marked safe. Three setting. If you mark one of them ok to use previously used active x, then you can put your internet settings back to default for you internet safety.

I am pleased with this camera fter a bit of frustration but I am not the coputer geek for networking that I thought I am.

If you think this is a Foscam camera it is not!! Crashed my camera on the first day I had it, because I updated to Foscam's firmware. While it still works, it is not going to update well, and is probably not as good in quality in general as Foscam's real version.

ViewSonic PJD6251 XGA DLP Projector

I have have been a front projection home theater enthusiast for many years, going back to the old "3 gun" or 3 lens crt projectors.

Over the years I switched to LCD projectors. When it came time to replace the $500.00 lamp in my old Epson, I decided to look at the new generation of DLP projectors. I chose this model because it has a super bright 3700 lumens & is 3D ready. This projector also gets 4000 hours of lamp life, & the replacement is only about $250. at this time.I was not disappointed, the picture quality, brightness & contrast ratio make it a fine HD home theater projector. I shoot my own 3D movies in the HQFS format ( high quality field-sequential) & they look amazing on this projector. You can also find 3d DVDs in this format here on Amazon, & some bootleg copies of older films like "Creature from the black lagoon, House Of Wax, Dial M for Murder & others on Ebay which were copied from old Laserdiscs which were released in Japan in F.S.3D in the 80's & 90's.

The 3D in those dvds is good, however the resolution in only S-VHS quality at best. The HQFS dvds are quite good, unfortunately the selection of titles is limited. To view 3D on this projector you must have the Active Shutter DLP 3d glasses, the viewsonic models are available here at Amazon for about $89.00 each. Something you should be aware of in regard to 3D usage, these DLP projectors except only the shutter format ( projectors have no tuners) so you won't be able to watch 3D TV (like ESPN3D or Comcast3D) without going thru a PC & using a third party viewing software like stereoscopic player, or TriDef. It is also not compatable with the current generation of 3D BluRay players. There are external format converters coming out on the market which will convert the various formats (top over bottom, sise by side etc.) to the shutter format used by DLP projectors, but

for the moment, I know of none available for this model. Mistubishi makes one which works with there brand of DLP tvs, but I don't think they work with the projectors. So for now, your best bet for 3D content on thses projectors ids the HQFS & F.S. format dvds, or running your tv tuner & 3d Bluray thru a media center computer & using the afore mentioned software to convert to the 3D format accepted by this projector. 3D aside, it is a super-bright & super-clear projector for home theater use. It's 3700 lumens & high contrast ratio gives it a movie-theater like quality even in normal room light.

I bought two projectors for my church, and we are happy to have them. The projectors are bright enough for 300 people to watch slide-show or DVD. They are well worth the $$$, I highly recommend this model.

Two things that may need your attention:

The "text shot" feature does not work for me yet. The automatically report/email may also have problems. Well, my network may have problem, I do not need those features right now anyway, so did not debug further.

The mounting holes for this projectors are close enough. I bought ceiling mount brackets from Amazon, and I have to slightly modify the bracket to install them on ceiling.

BTW, the technical support response pretty quick too.

The quality of the output is very good, clear, great throw distance. We hoped the 3800 lumins would be bright enough for our conference rooms, which have really bright new florescent lighting with reflectors to maximize the light. It's good enough for a PPT show, but not quite bright enough for a training session where seeing specific icons etc is required. We like the size, weight, etc. Very good buy. We would definately purchase again.

We have 2 of these projectors and they look great, we also have the smaller 2500Lm but for the money this one definitely has a brighter more vibrant look.

I need a camera with >5MP and short movie feature.

This one looks cool since it comes with mpeg4 video and 7 MP. The reviews from Steve and other experts are not too bad. The sample pictures online are really nice to me.

So I bought it. I like it very much before I found this problem.

THE SOUND VOLUME of the VIDEO is VERY VERY LOW! you can barely hear it if you shoot someone a couple of feet away. How disappointing!

I called Samsung to make sure whethter it is a design issue or just this one I got is malfunctioning. The RP was so rude. She told me, "this is a still camera, no a video camera", "it is not a design issue".

I used Sony P-92 before. The volume level of that camera is very good. But this Samsung V700, what a flaw. Otherwise I will like it and keep using it.

I ended up sold it on ebay. Please avoid this one if you are inrerested in its mpeg4 video. It is not worth it.

Has all the necessary features. The anti-shake indicator lets you know that the image is going to be blurred. Specially like the Text mode, which let me take pictures of documents and print it while my photocopy machine was out of order.

Fujifilm FinePix T200 14 MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom (Gunmetal)

I was afraid to order this, though I've owned several Fuji cameras and I've been very pleased with them. I still have my first digital camera, a 2 MP Model A205 I got in 2004 it works fine as old as it is. So why the hesitation to order this T200? The 3 reviews I read which don't think highly of this camera. I'm here to tell you don't be put off by the other reviews. Sometimes you also have to take into account when you read a 1 star to 3 star review that the person writing it has no idea how to use a camera, not accusing anyone here, but always keep that in mind. I'm not a professional by any means, but I've been buying/using digital cameras for almost 8 years.

This camera was intended as a gift for a young relative of mine. I took it on a test run beforehand, and here are my thoughts.

One reviewer complained about this having no focus assist lamp. That's a plus for anyone photographing pets, I own many cameras with this and most you cannot turn it off, so a blinding red lamp lights up right before you press the shutter on these types of cameras causing the cat's or dog's eyes to shut. This T200 does not have this lamp, and I've been able to obtain good pictures of my pets with the "Natural" mode choice on the dial. There is also a "Natural and Flash" choice too, which is working out well 2 shots are taken in rapid succession, one with no flash and one with, so you can compare which one is best.

Essentially, this camera is EXACTLY the same as the Fuji T300 Fujifilm FinePix T300 14 MP Digital Camera with Fujinon 10x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens (Black) and look at the reviews for it compared to this camera. The only difference is the T300 has a 3" LCD screen and the T200 is 2.7" LCD screen. Not a big deal, and I preferred the gunmetal gray to black. It's a beautiful gray, great build quality (mostly metal), the fit and finish is fine, and it even has a textured surface on the right front to help with gripping such a small camera. This camera IS tiny though.

Photos taken with this camera are true to color. Outdoor shots are better than indoor, but it's this way with any cheaper P&S camera. Shutter response time is OK, although I have seen faster in the Sony camera I recently returned. When you are taking Natural & Flash, there is extra storing time, the same with the Panorama Feature, even using a Class 10 SD card.

Battery life is good. The optical image stabilization is good. Some people think there's something wrong with the camera when the dial is turned to SR Auto and you can hear the zoom motor but that's what it is supposed to be doing when you have the dial turned to SR Auto (SR stands for Scene Recognition) and you aren't holding the camera still, it can't decide what you want it to focus on.

Oh, and this camera DOES have optical zoom during videos. But I have a complaint and I don't know why Fuji does it this way when other camera manufacturers like Panasonic do it right. With this Fuji, while you are optically zooming out during a video, the audio goes away, then it resumes when you are finished zooming. I assume they do this so you don't hear the motor sound in your video, but it's just plain stupid to do it this way. The 720p videos are very good quality.

If you choose this camera, also pick up an SDHC card, preferably Class 10 for videos. They normally say Class 4 or 6 for videos is adequate but a Class 10 card would be even better and they don't cost much more.

This camera is thicker than other ultra-compact cameras due to the 10X zoom. The lens area isn't flush with the rest of the camera body, making the camera approximately 1-1/8" thick. So take that into account when choosing a case for it.

After reading the reviews, I thought that I made a mistake buying this T200, but I changed my mind. The lens is exceptionally sharp, and on par with my Canon G11, and my Sony H20, both of which cost more than twice as much.

I used the camera indoors, and out. I took it to the beach to take some sunsets in low light, the pictures are beautiful. I used it indoors with the flash, and without the flash; again, the pictures are marvelous. I shot some movies with it at the beach with the waves breaking over the rocks; they are dramatic and very high definition. Every feature on that camera works; and it is no larger than my cell phone. That is amazing to say the least.

The build quality is solid, and the camera seems to be mostly metal. The 10 X zoom is sharp throughout it's range; and the auto-focus worked even in the low light at the beach during sundown. I have the pictures to prove it.

Yet one might say, that with those other excellent cameras why would I get the T200. The answer is that camera has more features than many larger cameras, but it is unbelievably small in physical size, but enormously powerful with it's 14 mp, 10 x zoom, and really good image stabilization, even when zoomed. I'm extremely pleased with this remarkable camera.

This camera has been very dependable and works as described. what it needs is better software for editing and picture removal from camera; it seems outdated and doesn't update to much better software. the other problem is you need very stable hands, as some pictures come out blurry.

God, where do I start? It's slow, auto-focus is inept and the light-meter is arbitrary, even between 2 shots shot concurrently in the same setting. The shooting selections are retarded and the smile-detector won't allow me to take pictures of some buildings. When you switch between modes, the title of the mode covers the entire screen for several seconds with no shutter access, so shooting quickly is just not possible with this camera. It's even slower than my first digital camera, which saved to a "superdisk" (120Mb floppy). This camera sucks. When you press the shutter, you have about a 50% chance that it will take a picture. It does fit into my pocket, so I suppose that is good.

However, it has one nice feature, which saved it from a one-star review. It has a "panoramic" setting (conveniently titled "SP1" for no reason) that actually usually does a decent job of patching 3 pix together in-camera. Didn't work well in a hot-air balloon, but on stable ground, it does a decent job, usually. Much easier to make panoramics than spending hours in Photoshop matching sky levels and horizon line, meshing foreground objects. Not great, but decent, most of the time. Assuming light-levels match; if you're shooting varying levels, like in a sunset situation, it doesn't match them well.

I bought this as a backup for my DLSR, and for a camera to carry on my longer hikes and jogs, as my DLSR is heavy and floppity when jogging. It isn't a good backup camera, my old 5 megapixel Canon Crapola 6000 is a better camera overall. But I do carry it in my glovebox for it's panoramic strengths, which is it's only strength. If you want an OK panoramic camera for the price, it's not terrible, but for a point&shoot, forget it.

I bought this as my third Fuji camera. It came and I liked. It does have some problems in low light but other then that I was pleased until month 10 when it started turning itself on and off repeatedly. I have to keep the battery out of it now, causing us to have to go thru date programing to use it.Then it started refusing to let me review pictures.Finally at 11 months it now switches to picture review when I want to take a picture. So a quick review...not great in low light, switches on and off repeatedly,picture review button doesn't work,won't let me take a picture but instead automatically switches to picture review. I have always like Fuji since the film days of old. I probably have the lemon out of the bunch. However I felt the need to share my experience. There are many good things about this camera including many features, simple to use, takes good point and shoot pics, lines up your pamorama photos, its small and appealing to the eye. I guess its really up to you.

In itself the mount is OK. The real problem though is that because of the length of the mount all car vibration is grossly magnified making my recording very shaky. The idea behind the mount is good, I guess it's just not suitable for mounting a video camera which is attempting.

This great little printer brings the magic of Polaroid pictures to the world of digital photography. I got it shortly before Christmas and then when we had the great day with the kids and grandchildren we found that we could easily print pictures from each of three different cameras and share them on the spot. Needless to say, the grandchildren were the most 'shot'. Everyone went home to their faraway places with current pictures in hand not in the camera! This little printer is an absolute jewel! I had done extensive research on personal printers and decided on this one. It was the best decision I made all year! I am a long time amatuer photographer and very picky about getting good pictures in print. This printer spits out 4x6 prints in under a minute and the color reproduction and clarity is nothing short of amazing! I am an IT professional (BSIT) and I bought this product because it is rated #1 by Consumer Reports and I own several HP printers that I really enjoy. However, I had the same experience as several other reviewers of this product. This printer simply does not work out of the box. After trying for 1 day I gave up and called HP customer service and they diagnosed the problem as a defective chip in the printer. They wanted to replace the printer with a refurbished one; I refused and threatened to return it back to Amazon. I was placed on hold and then told that I would receive a firmware upgrade via FedEx overnight. If this upgrade does not work I will be forced to return the printer to Amazon.

How to Choose Best Baby Video

Why get a video monitor instead of just an audio one? Well, it really boils down to cost and personal preference. I have found that having a video monitor with my colicky babies has been invaluable.

Many babies have issues when they are little and will spit up their milk. Some babies spit up a lot and it can become not only a mess, but a potential for them to choke on it. If you have the ability to see your baby and make sure that they are clean and safe, you will rest much better.

Features to Look For in a Video Monitor

The camera can be moved any which way to accommodate the view you like best. The best feature to the camera? You can actually move it remotely. There are five sound activated lights so you know that your baby is awake, even if you have the sound down.

This unit does feature a temperature sensor and can use an additional cameras if you need them; up to four! The sound quality is great with no static or interference at all. There is no mute feature which can sometimes be an issue and the battery life is not very long at all. It does come with an AC adapter, so that is a plus.

The unit itself is small and compact so carrying it around is quite easy. For the price, I wish it came with a clip. However, with how light it is, I don't mind moving it from room to room when needed. If you are looking for a top of the line monitor, then you should be pretty happy with this one.

Summer Baby Touch Monitor

Another popular and highly rated monitor is the Summer Baby Touch Monitor. It features a 3.5" LCD screen which has very good image quality and has a range of 400 feet. I love that the screen is not only color, but it features touch technology!

The only drawback to this is that you can accidentally activate the screen options while just carrying the unit. But as with anything, given time, you get used to how to handle it.

You can use it to control the camera zoom, pan, scan, video volume, and brightness. The design is kind of like a cell phone being small and thin in your hand. It has a magnetic docking station for when you aren't carrying it around.

The wireless camera can be set on a flat surface, or it can be mounted to the wall with the included hardware. As with the other one we reviewed, it has a talk back feature which allows you to communicate to your baby while she goes to sleep.

The unit can be used with up to three additional cameras as well. You get AC adapters if you don't want a wireless monitor or cameras, and the battery life is quite good around 8-10 hours on a full charge. This monitor does feature night vision but it is strictly black and white.

I love that it has an automatic time-out feature which will save power while you use just the sound activated lights instead of the the video and sound options. It does come with a belt clip for convenience which is very nice while doing housework, or yard work. As an added feature, it has USB and A/V jacks so you can display the image on your television.

Graco True Focus Digital Video Monitor

The Graco True Focus Digital Video Monitor is a bit more affordable than the others and still is highly rated by parents. This is one of the best Graco monitors I've found thus far.

It operates on 2.4 GHz frequency; I did notice that the image seems a bit choppy at times, but the image is still clear enough to monitor your baby well.

The best feature to this unit is that it gives you such a large range of around 1,000 feet! This is quite the bonus for people who have large homes and yards but still want to stay in touch with their baby during naptime.

It features a battery back-up so you can still use it during power outages. The screen is a bit smaller than some of the others we've discussed at only 2.4 inches, but it is more than enough to adequately see your little one. I think, even though this monitor is cheaper than others, the night vision is actually just as clear as the day vision.

I love that the camera doesn't make any noise while zooming. It also features a belt clip for convenience. This is a unit that sits on a surface only and does not come with the option for wall mounting. So, although this unit does not offer as many features as some others, it is still a great unit that should be useful for your home.

Philips AVENT Monitor

Check out the Philips AVENT Monitor which features a 492 foot range and a 2.4 inch digital quality color screen. The camera swivels up, down and to each side for the best view of your baby.

For added night convenience, it gives you a night vision image in black and white. The image is actually quite clear and I've had no problems with it.

I like the power saving option it has by going dark until it detects a noise in your baby's room and then will light up the parental unit and initiate sound as well. This unit features a handy belt clip as well.

It runs on 2.4 GHz and automatically selects the channel with the least interference. Something that this unit features that the others don't, is a choice of three lullabies that can help your baby fall asleep. The nightlight on the camera can also be activated to provide a calming glow as well.

I will advise parents to make sure to put the camera low enough on a shelf that they can get a good birds eye view of the crib; if it is too high, the camera doesn't tilt low enough to get a good view. The battery life is about 5-6 hours which is good for the daytime; at night however, I use the AC adapter so it doesn't lost power in the middle of the night.

A Good Less Expensive Option

For parents on a budget, this Infant Optics DXR is a good choice. This unit is just a bit bulkier than the others but is still easy to carry around. It runs on 2.4 GHz and gives good images of 30 fps on the 2.4 inch TFT screen.

This one has a range of only 150 feet indoors and 800 feet outdoors. The night vision is adequate and gives you vision for up to 15 feet in the dark. Audio is detected and the system activates to alert you.

It can use up to 4 cameras at the same time and has many video channels to choose from. Set up is very easy and it has worked well with no issues.

This unit would be best for families that live in small apartments, or homes, since the indoor range is quite low. Overall though, it has been a good unit for our family and is much more affordable.
