Learning Resources Zoomy Handheld Digital Microscope

Learning Resources Zoomy Handheld Digital MicroscopeThe Zoomy microscope is easy to load software for and starts up with no problem. My ten-year-old uses it as part of home school, to look at, identify & record all sorts of cool bugs. I think it well worth the $50 we spent. The USB connection is convenient and the pictures can be saved in .jpg format, the same as photos.

If you own a Mac you have experienced compatibly issues. I have spent time trying to get accessories to talk to a Mac and given up frustrated. That is why I always check the reviews before buying an accessory for my Mac. This is the review warning you that the Zoomy may not work with your Mac and definitely does not work with Mac Mini running OS 10.6

The Zoomy does work well with my PC but the software and the person who wrote the software both suck.

We love our zoomy! I was very impressed at how detailed the images were. It is very easy to focus and takes high quality pictures. I bought the zoomy for our kids, but am actually thinking of getting one for work. They would be great in the classroom too.

Bought the Zoomy for my 6 year old because he shows an interest in science, but I have been having as much or more fun using it myself. It has a much clearer picture than I ever thought something in this price range would have had. Worth every penny!

This product does what is says. It takes very clear, detailed pictures and videos. It has a preview setting. This means it has a "live view" screen to focus your picture, and allow for hours (!?!) of entertainment. If I thought this would be so much fun for my kids, I would have bought one sooner!

We bought it to correctly identify insects and spiders in the gardens, which it allows me to do wonderfully, but we have found so many other uses for it! My two children (2yo and 4yo) are in love with this little machine. They are exploring a whole new world! The first day we received it the kids looked at everything from their toe nails (ew!), lined paper, a house fly, a pencil tip, the dog's fur, the cat's ear, and we even located and pulled out a sliver in mommy's finger! They have more fun just watching the preview screen, and don't take alot of pictures with it. They are usually too involved, and move on to the next item without taking any.

For my purposes, I use it to correctly identify insects and spiders in the house and garden. It is essential to know what pest (or beneficial) you are dealing with to know if, when, and how to kill. Many nymphs, and instars of insects look similar if not identical to the naked eye. I now know that the brown beetle I thought was a common stink bug, it actually the fourth instar of the marmolated stink bug. This is an invasive, foreign species that is just now spreading to my area. It's the first time I've seen one, and he got the flush instead of being carried outside to freedom. I also know to look for more of them. It will also help me identify lacewing, ladybug, and parasitic wasp larvae. These are all beneficial insects that should NOT be destroyed, and will help, or completely control a pest insect in the garden. Bugs like thrips, gnats, and ants are no longer difficult to identify!

It has few options. For example the focus is not labeled like a standard microscope, so you can't tell what magnification setting is being used. But it's because of the low options that make it so kid friendly. It's easy to hold (smaller than a standard computer mouse), operate (single button push for picture taking), and the focus is easy to manipulate (turn left and right). Once I get it plugged into the computer and pull up the program, they can use the zoomy without any input from me, all I do is watch them wonder at the picture they see on the screen. This is going to be lots of fun this summer when we get pond water and garden worms to look at!

It does need to be connected to the computer to work, but for the tiny area focused, that's not a big deal. I use it with a laptop, and it has no problem. The program used with it loads fast, and the zoomy itself is quickly and easily recognized by any computer I've plugged it into. We have used it with Windows 7, vista, and XP with no problems. This little machine is durable (dropped by my kids several times), easy to use, and dependably works. Well worth the money I spent on it.

Nikon D5100 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 16GB Card + Case +

Nikon D5100 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 16GB Card + Case + Filter + Tripod + Cleaning & Accessory KitI was absolutely amazed when the package showed up and I discovered all of the goodies inside in addition to the camera. Not only was there a 16GB memory card as promised but it was a 10 rated high speed card. The tripod was fabulous nice lightweight portable tripod didn't even know they made this type for travel.

Everything was top quality. Great package!

Highly, highly recommended doing business with these people.

This is a great bundle. Everything included was really great quality. I purchased this for our daughters 16 birthday and was very very pleased. Ordered on a wed and received it on that sat!

Received camera on date as promised. After extended research, decided to go with the Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm lens since this camera seemed to have all the features that I wanted in a SLR system. Shortly after receiving the camera, had some problems with pictures being out of focus and subsequently found that was mainly due to operator error. A technical representative at Cameta Camera was very helpful in the diagnostic of this issue.

One thing I should mention that was not covered in any of the reviews I read, i.e. you need to use a HDMI cable (does not come with camera) when viewing pictures on a HD TV. The video cable that comes with it is a simple analog cable and you use loose a lot of picture clarity. Overall I think this is a great camera for a good price. Now looking to complement the dynamic range of this camera with a telephoto lens. You may also want to know that manual that comes with the camera is abreviated the complete manual is on a disk in PDF file and is over 200 pages.

Loaded the software that came with the camera on the computer but have not had time to gain a lot of experience with it. While I am not a profession with cameras, I have owned cameras all my adult life starting with an Argus C-4 in 1956. The Nikon D5100 has an extra-ordinary number of features available for the user. As of this writing, all my pictures have been taken in the "auto" mode. However, it is easy to see that with some experience this camera is capable of creating some fantistic pictures even under the most adverse circumstances. Got a long way to go!! Have not used the movie part of the camera as of this writing.

It's been couple of years, I wanted to move out of my point-n-shoot camera to a DSLR. I had narrowed down my search to Canon T3i and Nikon D5100. After going through lot of reviews and videos on both, I decided to go for Nikon D5100. There isn't much of difference between the 2 products. But, the ones that made me go for Nikon D5100 is :

1. AF Nikor lens. Nikor lens is the best in class as far as my knowledge goes. Again, I prefer a lens with AF motor and not a camera with AF motor.

2. The camera size is appropriate for my hands. Its easy to hold and operate.

3. It gives me the best natural shots (per my knowledge on light) even in low light situations. But, the LCD on canon is better compared to Nikon. So,in the begining you might not feel too good looking at your shots in LCD.

4. Most of the functionalities on the camera are easy to access. You dont have to take your eyes off your object to actually make some of the small changes, like aperture.. iso..etc.. however, in canon its quite a task compared to nikon.

5. The lens is very quite compared to canon when taking shots.

6. I dont have much to write on this review as am no expert to talk more on the DSLR.. Am learning too. For anybody who's a beginner and looking to start off with a DSLR, NIKON D5100 would be the best choice. I love my Nikon D5100. It's been just 2months that I have had this camera and my experience with Nikon D5100 is getting better and better every time I use it. I have taken over 1000 shots. It just gets better and better with every shot.

Will keep writing more.

I absolutely love my new Nikon D5100. I received it just a couple of days before I took a trip with a bus full of genealogists to Ellis Island, Ground Zero and passing the Statue of Liberty. I didn't have much time to figure out how to use it but a woman in front of me had just received one for Christmas and the woman aside of me is a professional photographer. Just on that one trip I took over 200 pictures that ALL came out excellent.

Two days later I was on a plane to London for 8 days to visit my son & sister. Everything was absolutely breathtaking as this was my first time. My son was an excellent tour guide & on the first day he completely took over as the photographer for the whole trip. He loved my new camera as well! On this trip we took over 1,000 pictures. We were completely stunned that we had taken over 1,200 pictures total.

Next will be a concert to see Alan Jackson & I can't wait to be able to zoom up soooo close as to get a picture of just his face. Thank you Nikon for making this all possible.

I purchased this camera thru Amazon at a lower price than I could find anywhere else. They did not add all the extra's that came with my camers so this was a BONUS! I'll anxiously wait for the day when this camera comes in a pocket-size version. It was a little bulky carrying it around & I was so worried about banging it into something.

A true fan of the Nikon D5100.

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 400

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 400
  • PROJECTOR, POWERLITE HOME CINEMA 400

This review is probably more a complementary one to my already published HD Universe list-mainia piece. OK lets walk down the path again of what i wanted to do:

1. i made my decision on the DVD Wars format

2. I bought a high end Pioneer 24fps Bluray player

3. I am not planning on a big surround system except for a yamaha single closure system (which i wil connect directly to pioneer optical output)

4. The final piece was the actual eye candy!

I was doing allot of digging around with LCD vs Plasma vs SXRD vs LCOS from JVC and honestly when my brother in law pointed me in this direction, it was like a big slap on the face!!! when i saw this Powerlite in action i was instantly blown away.

I was made aware that in fact for me the cinematic true experience was in the size of the screen in addition to the actual Pixels being projected! i very much dumped the idea of a traditional windscreen box to watch my movies and opted for this gorgeous projector.

It was especially sweet because the store that carried this had no idea of what HD means! it was in a stock pile marked down in price too. i had no choice but to run home and grab my apple tv (loaded with some HD material) and test this puppy with HDMI hookup.

The contents were amazing and since apple TV shoots maximum at 720p, it was a match made in heaven. I didn't really cared for 1080p vs 720p anymore. All that mattered now was 103' diagonal view of actual 1 megapixel movie being projected on my white wall! Best part is all that eye candy from a Bluray 24fps player with digital optical for audio.

guys all i can say this piece is the ultimate in any HD mega setup.

The projector was represented as a Epson Home Cinema 400. What arrived was a Epson EMP TW 550 which was a slightly inferior model. The projector is still a really good projector with a great picture but I am disappointed that is was misrepresented.

Great Product. It's hi-def picture is incredible. It's a little bulky, but its projected picture is wll worth it. It's so bright, no screen is needed. Just a painted wall works fine. And it was delivered a week AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

Vivitar ViviCam 5188 5MP CMOS, 8x Digital Zoom, 2" LCD Digital Camera (Black)

Vivitar ViviCam 5188 5MP CMOS, 8x Digital Zoom, 2' LCD Digital CameraI bought this to test for an upcoming trip to Hawai'i (want an underwater digicam for snorkeling). I was initially impressed by the housing but the camera was awfully light. A quick inspection showed why. The SD port cover is a rubber "plug" (similar to the covers for USB ports, etc on most digital cameras). No big deal, but I could see it coming off with rough use. The menu was extremely basic and didn't even have an option to turn off the barely audible "beep" that followed each button press. You also couldn't change the length of playback which was barely a second. Switching "modes" resulted in the display disappearing while the change was made then reappearing (the first time I set flash to 'always on" the display didn't come back up for 5-6 seconds). "No big deal," I thought, since it was a $60 u/w digicam (I own a Nikon D200 so certainly wasn't expecting to use this on land). I took a few shots then pulled them up on the computer. Aye, there's the rub...

The shots are really quite poor. The lens may be fixed focus, but it's a relatively narrow cone in front of the camera. Approximately 60% of the image was out of focus. There's a noticeable circle in the middle that was reasonably focused with increasing fall-off towards the edges. Furthermore, the shutter speed was iffy at best. A shot of my refrigerator with flash "on" resulted in a very blurry picture. These shortcomings might be mitigated underwater, but I doubt it. Judging by my brief experience, I would strongly suggest avoiding this for any "meaningful" photography (above or below the water).

I give it 2 stars because it's probably ideal for a child as a first camera. The waterproof case was pretty tough and seemed to be up to the task of protecting the camera from rough handling. The poor picture quality would not be a huge issue for a child. The latch to open the case required enough dexterity that a curious child would not be able to open it on accident.

All-in-all, I could see a 4-6 year-old having hours and hours of fun with this at the beach or pool. Mom and Dad, on the other hand, are likely to be sorely disappointed.

While the quality of the camera is not state of the art, it is pretty decent for the price. My 12 year old daughter is thrilled with it.

Even at the top level of fidelity, called FINE, the pictures have a lot of blurry areas because of image compression. End result is that the pictures with this 5M camera look worse that a similar picture with my 2M Canon. If they really have the 5M pixels on the sensor, they should improve the software to take use of this.

The only saving grace on the camera is the waterproof case. It is nice to take it rafting without having to worry about getting it wet. As soon as you hit dry land, however, dump this thing for a real camera!

I got this because it was the cheapest underwater camera I could find. It worked great when I went snorkeling in Mexico, but then the clasp on the case broke and I haven't been able to fix it. It's worth taking a chance on this I think, just be very careful with the case. The video quality is actually very good for the price.

I bought this camera to take to the beach and on canoe trips. for this it is great. No worries about it ever being ruined by the water, and the fact that it will take video with sound, even with the case on it was a plus. However I would not reccomend this as your everyday camera because it is slow and alot of the pictures(not all) will come out blurry. So I just usually snap two shots of everything. If you want a cheap, take to the beach camera, than I can reccomend this for you.

Esky C5900 Wireless Ip Camera H.264 Video Compression, Ir-cut ,Built-in DVR ,3.6mm Wifi Audio ,Nigh

Esky C5900 Wireless Ip Camera H.264 Video Compression, Ir-cut ,Built-in DVR ,3.6mm Wifi Audio ,Night Vision ,Micro Sd Slot --WhiteThe product arrived on time, in good condition, this was a replacement for an earlier camera which had problems. seller replaced it with no objections and easy transaction. Bottom line is the camera works and records to a mini sd card (not supplied). this allows for overlap after card is filled up. I was told recording to PC , does not overlap or overwrite oldest data. didn't know if files just keep expanding on the hard drive???

I had some issues following the manual, caused me to call the tech support line twice. Well that was a pleasant surprise! All my issues were addressed and explained real time with the technician, Jake in this case, very good support.

QQ-Tech HDMI to HDTV Adapter for iPad/iPhone

QQ-Tech HDMI to HDTV Adapter for iPad/iPhoneI previously ordered and received the APPLE DIGITAL AV ADAPTER,MDO98ZM/A, cost $45

Since it was in Apple product, I expected it to work. I connected it into my Ipad and my Ipad2. In both cases I received the message DEVICE NOT COMPATIBLE.

Very disappointed, I returned the item.

I then ordered this product for $32. I was hesitant because this is not made by Apple. I LOVE IT! I tried it with the Ipad and the Ipad2 to view netflix and YouTube, and my own pictures on my big screen TV. Works beautifully.

Have not tried to download pictures from my camera yet.

The only negative I can see is that there is no way to connect the Ipad to a power source, so it has to run on battery power. Don't know if this will be an issue as I have not determined how long the battery will last.

I've been looking for something like this for awhile and I came across this product clicking on it since it was decently priced. I like going by reviews and it had all good reviews. I give it a go, order the product, it arrives quickly, I try it out, and I'm amazed at what u can do with my iPhone and iPad. It's simple, plug it in, watch a you tube video and it's full screen on your tv. After a night of shooting pics, you can put it on your tv with this simple cOnnection!

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI TV Monitor Adapter for Macbook

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI TV Monitor Adapter for MacbookI have a core i5 Feb 2011 MBP 13.3". I bought this adapter on Sep 19, 2011 and received it on the 26th. It took a few minutes for the computer to recognize the adapter. I had to remove and reinsert the adapter about 5x before it finally recognized it. I then had to restart the laptop with the adapter in place for the MBP to recognize the HDMI output to the television speakers in the system preferences > sound. But, it works flawlessly. I will update should I have any issues in the future. Great Bargain for HDMI Audio/Video! It's nice not to have to use a separate cable for the audio. The picture clarity is great, too. Overall, very pleased. Probably the best deal I've gotten this year. I paid only $6.42 including shipping for something that is worth at least 4-5x more if I were to buy it direct from the AppleStore. HDE shipped it very quickly as well as you can see from the info above. Just top form, and I couldn't be more pleased.

This product save me to connect multiple cables from my MacBook Pro to my HD TV. Video and Audio through HDMI. Good picture quality. I watched a few videos using it, no issues at all.

I bought this adapter to connect my 13" Macbook Pro to my TV, and I couldn't be any happier with the product. The adapter DOES support audio, but you have to change your speaker selection through System Preferences on a Mac. Build quality is good and it mimics the white finish found on many Apple products. Audio and video quality is perfect at 720p, though that's expected with HDMI.

This thing was amazing...for two weeks. Now the damn thing doesn't work. It's cheap for a reason, so you're better off buying a different product.

I was a little apprehensive buying this product since its an unknown seller and it was being sold for so cheap. But, I decided to buy it as my MacBook Pro does not have an HDMI port and very often we need to stream DVD/Youtube video in my Mac to TV.

It works. I havent had any issue with it no installation issues, no parts issues. Its been working very fine. The only problem I could think is the length of cable which might be problem for people who do not have a long HDMI cable.

But since my HDMI cable is pretty long, I dont feel the length of cable is an issue.
