Q-See QSNDVR9M 9 Channel MPEG-4 Pentaplex Network Digital Video Recorder (No Hard Drive)

Q-See QSNDVR9M 9 Channel MPEG-4 Pentaplex Network Digital Video RecorderThis is a very good unit for the money. I installed a 500 gb hard drive and the unit works like a charm. The only issue I had is that the quality of the enclosure was not the best but that did not effect the performance of the unit. On another note, this unit is kind of loud. You can hear the fan very easily. Place this unit in a room or cabinet where the noise is not an issue. Other than that it's fine.

Don't get me wrong this IS a full featured DVR system however after you go beyond 4 cameras (4x30 frames/second = 120 frams/sec) it is unable to keep up with the 9 video inputs, so you must loose a camera or slow down the framerate. In contrast, their 16 camera / 480 frame record & playback systems can handle 30 frames per second, i.e. full motion video on all channels.

The manual on the unit does not cover this limitation you are left to discover it on your own after hooking up 9 cameras and finding that 12 frames per second is about all you can record. It's jittery compared with full motion video, which is why it's not an ideal solution except if you you only want to run 4 cameras, then it's perfect 30 frames per second.

I have a 3 camera, home security setup, and have been up and running for a few days now. menus are extensive, yet easy to understand, and configure. I bought this to replace an old multi time-lapse VCR setup I had, and am very happy with the unit. remote access to it was a simple setup that worked the first time. One unexpected thing I relly like about it is that the remote access software (netclient.exe) is a single executable file... no "install" needed. That means I keep the .exe file on a USB flash drive, that I can plug into anyones PC and do a quick check on things at home. I have even done it from an electronics store, that had machines with internet access. pretty cool. And, the software will allow me to download/review any of my recorded history. The unit was built better than I expected for a device made in China. The manual showed menus that were only slightly different than what the unit showed. happy with it so far.

April 27 2008 update....

unit still runs fine. Have installed 2 500gig drives. Have the same 3 cameras at the highest quality/framerate possible in order to use the full resources of the unit. This allows 11 days recorded time

June 1st 2008 update...

still loving this unit! One strange "quirk" that I can't figure out is that when I try to connect to the DVR through the LAN via the "netclient" software, I have no problem if I use the DVR's Lan address.. (192.168...etc) however when I try to connect (while on the LAN)using my IP's (external) address, I can connect for up to ten seconds then the feed freezes. And, YES, my port fowarding is working correctly. If I try to connect from a PC outside the lan, it works just great! Multiple PC can be "attached" at the same time. I wish I was able to allow more than 4 name/password users. Then I could keep a better log of who is watching.

NOTE: passed the ten week point now.. no rebate check yet, email to dpsi still unanswered...

Jan 24th, 2009 belated update...

I did eventually get my rebate check. I am still very happy with the unit. I can watch my son get on his schoolbus from work, and check on my UPS deliveries. Unit has run w/o any problems since day one.

Nov 4, 2009 update...

Damn it. The unit finally wet the bed as they say... I can reboot it, and can see my cameras (5 now) and can even log in remotely still w/o a hitch. The only (major) problem is that all of the keys on the control panel don't work.. and am not ale to playback any recorded video. Heck at this point I'm can't even be sure anything is actually recording.. not a happy camper....

Jan 23, 2010...

as an update to my Novenber review... I shut it off on Nov 4th for a day or two, and when it powered it up again, everything worked fine, and is still working. Am now up to 5 cameras, and am happy with the unit once again.....

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 400

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 400
  • PROJECTOR, POWERLITE HOME CINEMA 400

This review is probably more a complementary one to my already published HD Universe list-mainia piece. OK lets walk down the path again of what i wanted to do:

1. i made my decision on the DVD Wars format

2. I bought a high end Pioneer 24fps Bluray player

3. I am not planning on a big surround system except for a yamaha single closure system (which i wil connect directly to pioneer optical output)

4. The final piece was the actual eye candy!

I was doing allot of digging around with LCD vs Plasma vs SXRD vs LCOS from JVC and honestly when my brother in law pointed me in this direction, it was like a big slap on the face!!! when i saw this Powerlite in action i was instantly blown away.

I was made aware that in fact for me the cinematic true experience was in the size of the screen in addition to the actual Pixels being projected! i very much dumped the idea of a traditional windscreen box to watch my movies and opted for this gorgeous projector.

It was especially sweet because the store that carried this had no idea of what HD means! it was in a stock pile marked down in price too. i had no choice but to run home and grab my apple tv (loaded with some HD material) and test this puppy with HDMI hookup.

The contents were amazing and since apple TV shoots maximum at 720p, it was a match made in heaven. I didn't really cared for 1080p vs 720p anymore. All that mattered now was 103' diagonal view of actual 1 megapixel movie being projected on my white wall! Best part is all that eye candy from a Bluray 24fps player with digital optical for audio.

guys all i can say this piece is the ultimate in any HD mega setup.

The projector was represented as a Epson Home Cinema 400. What arrived was a Epson EMP TW 550 which was a slightly inferior model. The projector is still a really good projector with a great picture but I am disappointed that is was misrepresented.

Great Product. It's hi-def picture is incredible. It's a little bulky, but its projected picture is wll worth it. It's so bright, no screen is needed. Just a painted wall works fine. And it was delivered a week AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

Panasonic VDR-D250 2.3MP 3CCD DVD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

Panasonic VDR-D250 2.3MP 3CCD DVD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoomthe picture quality is great one of the best I have seen. The optical zoom is pretty good but I wish it was like 25X or more. The 3CCD is really a great improvement ot regular picture quality. I give 4 stars because the zoom could be more but overall a great camera. I have a problem using DVD RAM so I am using only DVD -RW which gives easier playback both on the tv and on the computer.

Very Good & Easy to Operate.

Good Qa;llity & Reasonable Price.

Buy Panasonic VDR-D250 2.3MP 3CCD DVD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom Now

I use my VDR-D250 to shoot in-house product reviews and commercials. The 3CCD allows me to create green screen backdrops and provides a quality picture. The built-in microphone is sensitive enough to pickup a lot of ambient noises (which is great if you want to capture party conversations), but I've attached a boom microphone when needing directional audio with wind screen protection.

Easy to use controls helps a lot, too.

Getting the video off of the DVD-R discs media format (.VOP) requires conversion by external editing software. After trying Vegas and other software without luck, I had success with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.

Overall, I really like this camera.

Aven 26700-300 ZipScope USB Digital Microscope with 2 Mega-Pixel 10x-50x Optical, 200x Digital Magn

Aven 26700-300 ZipScope USB Digital Microscope with 2 Mega-Pixel 10x-50x Optical, 200x Digital Magnification
  • 2.0 megapixel digital tabletop microscope with 1/2" color complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor and USB 2.0 computer output to display images or video, commonly used for quality control (QC) inspection, medical and scientific research, geology, mineralogy, chemistry, and for printing and textile inspection.
  • Optical magnification of 10X to 50X, and digital magnification of 200X
  • 8 built-in, white LED lights with two-step intensity control for illumination, automatic white balance, and the ability to be turned on and off
  • Included software produces images (JPEG or BMP formats) or video (AVI format)
  • One year warranty

The video might be enough to convince you. But please read this extended review for all the details. Every one of the images in the video was captured with THIS microscope camera.

EDIT: Please see W. Nicholls review for more current information on software and a solution for the weak stand! We've both found that the stand is okay for very basic use, but leaves a lot to be desired. The software is the same way, but there are several excellent freeware alternatives available.

I am an IT professional for a major police department. I specialize in video enhancement and conversion. I ordered this for my Mom, who collects and sells antique buttons. Because of my Prime Membership, and because I would be the one installing this for my parents (naturally), I had it shipped to my place. When the package came in, I couldn't resist opening it and trying it out on my system. There are a few things that I didn't like, but more that I did like. First, the stand is stable enough, but not rock-solid steady like a tripod. Specifically, the stand itself appears to be very sturdy stainless steel, although the arms holding the camera are plastic. The software included (for my Win7x64 system) is actually a very basic Microsoft program, so don't expect a custom application. That's okay, though. It gets the job done, and I had no problems with program or driver installation. The magic is in the scope itself.

The grippy rubber surrounding the unit helps with positioning, especially when you are using it in a hand-held photo/video shoot. The focus ring might be a little tough at each of the extreme ends, but is otherwise very smooth and easy to adjust.

I was able to grab several very high quality images right off the bat. I used a twenty dollar bill as a test subject. I was able to zoom in so much that the ultra-tiny "USA 20" shadows under the right-side text were clearly visible, yet I was also able to zoom out enough to capture almost the entire bill. Going further, I captured an entire US Quarter at about a half-screen size, and was able to zoom in so close that I the screen was filled with only 3 grooves of the 119 grooves around the edge of the quarter. That's pretty impressive. In fact, that is a HUGE range of magnification. Ask your photographer friends. They will confirm this.

The software was a piece of cake to install (Win 7 x64), although I had to use my other computer to copy the mini-CD to a regular CD. My second computer has a tray-load CD drive, while the system I wanted to use it on has a "suck-load" (ie slot-load) CD drive. This program/driver package is NOT available on the manufacturer's website, and the mini-CD is not labeled, but it's really a minor problem. If you use any other webcam or video capture program, this camera will work with them as well. Also, any other webcams you have will work with this software for effortless still and video capture.

Overall, the stand is nice and stable, provided you really crank down the screw (which still allows for some forceful movement but still keeps the camera in place), but the arms that hold the camera are a little weak. This is a tiny weakness that can be easily overcome by adjusting from the bracket instead of grabbing the camera itself. If you won't be using the very wide range of zoom/focus levels, this will NOT be a problem for you. The best way to operate this camera is by moving the object instead of the camera. My mother just wants a little visual aid in identifying manufacturing marks on antique clothing buttons. For her, I set up the focus and camera angle, and she hasn't touched it in several weeks of examining antique buttons. She just moves the buttons around beneath the lens.

The LED lights are very good. Even with the rest of my household lights turned off, the built-in LEDs had enough power to provide plenty of bright light for proper exposure. At some zoom/focus levels, I even had to move the switch to the "half-led" position to prevent washout.

The zoom/focus range is incredible. To make it clear, please understand that "zooming" means moving the camera away from the object and adjusting the focus, but I was really impressed with the incredibly wide range of zoom/focus on this system. I got great pictures in the range from less than 1/10 of an inch all the way to 6 inches+ away from the subject. To give this some context, I should remind you that I got a picture of a US Quarter that took up 1/2 the frame, then "zoomed in" (aka moved closer and adjusted focus) so that I had a shot of only 3 of the 119 ridges on the edge of the coin. Both shots provided great detail, and the 2 MP resolution was a pleasant surprise. At 1280x1024, it isn't quite true HD, but provides a very good image.

Because the cradle that holds the camera is a little weak, you might need to push the "shutter" button a few times to get a clear shot, but this is a very minor inconvenience, and doesn't cause any software or storage problems, since you only save the image when you're happy with the result. A typical shot was just under 1 MB in size, and only took two to three attempts to get one without blur. That probably sounds terrible in a review, but I want to emphasize that it is really easy to get a nice clear shot. Just press the camera-mounted shutter button a couple of times until your image is nice and crisp. This works reliably even when holding the object and camera in each hand.

Overall, I can say this. I would love to have one of the four hundred dollar super precise professional forensics lab-type USB microscopes, but for anything less than a couple hundred bucks, this is the best of the bunch. I loved it so much that I ordered one for myself. I am not a professional, but I am a very good amateur. You can see some of my close-up my videos by looking for "SloMoHolic" on a very popular video sharing website that starts with "You" and ends with "Tube", taken with non-microscope professional equipment :-). Hopefully you will see actual ZipScope footage very soon!

Have fun and explore things you've never seen before. There are a lot of options out there, and I have researched them all (although I have not tried them all). This particular model seems to be the best option for anyone who is not in a forensics lab, that wants to have high-quality still and video imagery, with a very wide range of focus/zoom. I hope my review helps you make your decision.

Right off the top, the Amazon listing for the Aven 26700-300 claims 2MP resolution. I was only getting .3MP (640x480) via the primitive software pressing the shutter button. The instructions don't tell you how to get full resolution captures and I stumbled upon how it's done. Here's the arcane procedure:

Open the AMCAP application window so you can frame your image. This application only has controls for capturing video. If you press the shutter button you'll get a snapshot that pops up in a new window. However, this image will only be 640x480. To snapshot at higher resolution, you must use the tray application/control panel. This gives you access to Properties controls if you select the Properties Page, but that won't give you control over photo resolution. You must right-click or click and hold on the tray application, click on the snapshot menu item, then select a resolution from the fly out list. 1600x1200 is the sensor resolution if it's 2MP, but the Chinese manufacturer's specs (Oriental Inspiration, Ltd.) say 1280x1024 (1.3MP). When you pick the resolution, a snapshot is taken and it pops up in the snapshot viewer window. You'll only see a portion of the full res image since the viewer window can't be resized and there is no zoom. If you then press the shutter button on the microscope, new images will be captured at the resolution you set via the tray application. Be sure to save the image from the viewer window since the image will be lost if you don't. Beware -when you quit the software the snapshot resolution will set back to 640x480. There's no way to make the full resolution be the default. This software isn't just primitive, it's stone age.

I appreciate Blake Ormand's extensive review, and I don't have experience with other USB microscopes to compare, but I find the software and the stand to be significant limitations on an otherwise good device. Pushing the image capture button on the side of the microscope causes it to move and blur images that would be simple to get sharp with a software shutter control. There is the snapshot control I outlined above and I recommend you use that instead of the hardware button.

The live view via the software is a small, low resolution window. If you maximize the software window, it expands to fill the display and thus distorts the image (at least with most current display aspect ratios). You can resize the window, but this distorts the image since the view will fit any shape window you create. The digital zoom function isn't particularly useful. The image quality is low and you don't see any additional detail. Plan on a real zoom utility of 50x. And you'll only get 50x with the microscope as close to the subject as the clear front ring allows.

Also, there's no white balance control (there's a hue control in the generic control panel, but that's not a substitute). Under normal ambient light, the image has a pink cast. The color is reasonably neutral when the LEDs are turned on via the oval slide switch on the microscope. Actually, the unit is now showing pink even with the LEDs and I suspect a problem with an RGB channel.

The microscope has a poor orientation for right side up. If the shutter button was on top, you'd get a bit more stability pushing toward the base. You can rotate and mirror the image via the generic software and I haven't seen if that's a viable workaround so I can work the unit with the shutter button on top. The stand has a really weak and narrow clip that isn't in the least bit secure or stable. The base and articulating arm are nicely finished, but the clamp barely holds the microscope at all. Unfortunately, the only optional base available from Aven is designed for backlit slide use akin to conventional optical microscopes. I'd like to find a boom-type stand with a clamp that could securely hold the Aven ZipScope's body.

The Dino-Lite model I was considering before buying the Aven is over $400. There are more and better stand options for Dino-Lites, and the software appears to be better (the high end software provides measurement capability). I have no professional use for a USB microscope,so the Aven's pricepoint is more rational for me to play with. I do volunteer fossil preparation and I'd like to use the USB microscope for demonstration and documentation purposes. It would be cool if I could use the computer display to do fine detail work instead of looking through a conventional low power stereo microscope, but I'm not sure that I could set the USB microscope up without having too much parallax error to work with.

Update 01/19/2012: I've found better software that works with this microscope. I did a trial evaluation of NCH's Debut Video Capture Pro Software. You can capture from the microscope at full 1600x1200 resolution and there's a still capture button. The preview scales proportionally, and there's a control that lets you view at actual pixel resolution. There's a 14-day trial, but when the license price is $40. There are other webcam video capture utilities for Windows, Mac, and Linux that you could try. Look up AMCap at the alternativeto.net website.

I bumped up my rating to four stars because good free alternative software is available. Thanks again to Blake, for recommending ProScope HR software which is available free online for personal use. There are also Mac OS and Linux versions of this software. I've installed it but haven't tried the software yet, so I can't compare to the relatively expensive NCH utility.

I'm using a Manfrotto Nano Clamp to mount the microscope to various photographic supports like an articulating arm or flex arm and have uploaded a few to show this. The Nano Clamp does partially obscure the capture button, but using software to trigger captures is far better for vibration.

AVEN zipScope with measurement software.

The microscope: It does exactly as advertised and with amazing clarity.

The stand: It is as valuable as a milk bucket under a bull. It will not support the microscope at a 90 degree angle which is necessary for accurate measurements and a lack of subject distortion.

The programming: ... Horrible! The written dropdown boxes that are critical for measurement and marking the pictures were in the programmer's font (little square boxes).

Product support: Great, the company responded to correct the problem after which the measurements work.

Picture quality is great. We are using other software to view images from Windows and Linux laptops, never had to instal software that came with this. Feels solid, handles well, focuses well, built-in light at two settings is great too. Whether the magnification is good enough for you is for you to decide, but it is amazing for our kids and for me to see stuff up close, sharp, intense colors, on large screen. Resolution is 1600x1200, but then it does only 5fps or so, which makes it harder to work with if you move stuff a lot, so I'm actually running it at 800x600 where is does 20fps, and it could 30fps at something like 640x480, but I like an integer divisor and 20fps is OK to work with. I did take a couple pictures too at 1600x1200 after I focused at 800x600.

I had ordered before a similar version, and ended up frustrating when realized that it had a fixed magnification. This one is much better. Small children have great fun.. In my case, putting the signal on the TV (using Wireless Display) made it even better. Tons of fun!

AG-AF100 Professional Micro 4/3 HD Camcorder

AG-AF100 Professional Micro 4/3 HD CamcorderI sold my $25,000 pro video camera and bought this with extra lenses, matte box, slider, lights, even a Steadicam, etc. A great move. I've had this for about five months now. Shot docs, commercials, small features. It's much smaller size makes it far easier to travel with, and it's great depth of field gives you lots of creative options. Great bang for the buck.

I have bought this video camera three days after it was available in the market, though it took me sometime to receive it. It has excellent futures, 2x XLR inputs for professional stereo sound. Very good in low light conditions and it doesn't have the antialiasing problems that DSLR's got. I also owe a Canon 5D but if you are more into filming than photography it is thumbs up from me!

Buy AG-AF100 Professional Micro 4/3 HD Camcorder Now

This Panasonic camera is a real breakthrough. I used to work for Sony in Japan, who are the other leaders in professional video cameras, but I really don't think they can compete with the AF100 on price, or specifications.

I would advise potential customers to be careful where they buy this camera. I have never felt ripped-off by Amazon, even if a few other companies can equal or better the price. If I want to get this review published, it seems I have to be careful about how I refer to competitors. A New York company that considers itself to offer the best price photo equipment (put in capital letters and you'll know who I'm talking about) offers this camera for a few hundred dollars less. Be warned. Unless you are very strong-willed you will be talked into buying hundreds of unspecified extra dollars and receive an un-itemized receipt, if you specifically ask for it. The advertised camera price does not appear anywhere on the invoice. Not like Amazon, unfortunately. As I said, I have never had a bad buying experience with Amazon. Beware of shady cut-price dealers, unusually common in New York in my experience. When I actually named that company and listed what they did to me, Amazon blocked my write-up. So read between the lines.

BTW it's a fabulous camera and worth every penny that Amazon charges.

I'm old school, I'm all about film. Real film! However, I had to make the jump into digital video. I've played around with various cameras, but never was comfortable. I love the image and ease of shooting. Downloading footage is simple and easy despite the warnings for FCP users like myself. Besides, I'm not throwing down $90K for an Arri Alex so this camera is perfect for my needs of short films and a features. The one thing that one must be aware of is that the sensor size doubles the focal length of whatever lens you use, i.e. 45-200mm lens becomes a 90-400 mm lens. I haven't seen it projected on a wide screen yet, but that is my next test. Enjoy!

I am shooting feature doc and bought this camera for shooting it. I also own a canon 7D and have had MANY issues with the 7D (aliasing!!! and generally a lack of film friendly functions). The AF100 has all the usual camera functions anyone who used the HVX is used to but the image is far superior. Out of the box the image was quite noisy even at low ISO's but with a bit of research and tweeking of the menus (and doing a few black balances) the image is now very crisp and not noisy anymore. I recommend this camera!

New Kamerar Tank TK-2 cage with rods supportThis was my first camera cage. I run a small video production business as a hobby-gone-horribly-wrong, so take this all into consideration.

PROS:

* Affordable...This is the best cage I could find for the money.

* As the name "Tank" implies, it is very tough and sturdy. Nothing feels cheap or flimsy.

* The fit and finish is very nice and I noticed no scratches or overly sharp edges. The packaging was decent and it was really easy to figure out how to set it all up.

* The Tank will fit a T2i/T3i/T4i with battery grip or camera-only on a quick-plate. I hear it will fit a BMCC although mine is still on back-order so I was not able to confirm it.

* This beast has so many attachment spots that you will never outgrow it.

* The rods and tripod assembly are great quality just like the Tank. The rods are threaded on both sides so you can attach longer rods or use them in conjunction with other 15mm rigs.

* The Tank is very versatile and configurable. I was able to flip sections, subtract rods and configure it to my specifications quickly and easily. You may need to get a little creative to make it perfect for your camera.

Cons:

* The red twist knobs are not ratchets, they are static and may stick out depending on how much you need to twist them. Ratcheting twist knobs would be awesome, but you can always upgrade them later.

* This may not be the best rig for a Canon T2i/T3i/T4i (although it's what I use it for and will keep using it) for a few reasons. The battery cut-out on the bottom plate does not line up with the battery door on the camera (not sure what DSLR will work, maybe 5d/7d?), the Swiss rods interfere with the HDMI cable placement when using an external monitor, and the Swiss rods do not allow enough room to open the SD card slot. I was able to make all this usable by mounting the camera backwards on the Tank and removing one of the Swiss rods from the SD card slot side to fix all these issues. The Tank is still very stable with only three Swiss rods holding it together. The only problem I have not figured out yet is changing the battery while keeping the camera in the rig, I think an external battery option may be the best solution.

Overall the Tank is an awesome affordable cage to build upon. The rods are very usable and allow for a follow-focus and matte box in the front and you will need another set of rods with an adapter for the rear if you want to turn it into a shoulder rig. I have a 7 inch monitor on a magic arm, a zoom recorder, matte-box, follow-focus, and there is still plenty of room to spare. The possibilities are endless. The pros outweigh the cons. I am certain this rig will outlive my camera.

I hope this review helps you.

This cage is quite solid and large enough to fit my d800 with the zacuto zfinder pro guerrilla plate.

Made in the USA, at china prices. What else can I say?

Yep it's true. Very solid aluminum construction and works great. Nice finish. You can attach almost anything you want and then some! Would be kool if it could accomodate a battery pack for my DSLR not tall enough. It is very solid and works with just the camera and has a spot to change the battery. 5 Stars for a taller one.

This is going to add some weight to your rig, so make sure your tripod head can handle it. It is now too heavy to counterbalance on my 701HDV.

It gives me a ton of options for mounting mics, lights, monitors, etc. I had to remove a swiss rod to use the screen on my 60D, but it still works great.

The thumbscrews on the cage are not ratcheting. I had a problem with the one on the right rod blocking the battery door. I had to put some washers under it so that it would snug down out of the way.

I wish that some of the holes were either unthreaded 1/4" or more threaded 3/8" so I can bolt cold shoe adapters on without having them face the wrong way.

Overall the quality is very good. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a support system without breaking the bank.

Dayton Audio HR14HS2 6.6ft 2M High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet - Supports 3D and Audio ReturnI have used Dayton HDMI cables for years. Just resently upgraded to 3D TV and had to upgrade my cables. Had no issue's at all with these cables and I would say they work and fit better than the 100$ cables you find elsewhere.

Q-See QCN8002B 1080p High Definition Weatherproof IP Bullet Camera (White)

Q-See QCN8002B 1080p High Definition Weatherproof IP Bullet CameraMy point of reference is the Foscam 8910w. That product is not a direct competitor to the Q-See QCN8002B but its what I know about and through the comparison, I think some bits of useful information is possible.

First, the Q-See is weatherproof. After the install, and for the 3 weeks since... it has rained on perhaps 3 days. The camera still functions. I looked at its via binoculars and I don't see anything noteworthy. I don't see condensation anywhere. There's no fog on the lens, etc. Again, its THREE WEEKS. I'll update this review with longer-term results.

The picture quality is very high quality. I'm used to short-distance IR. This IR projects 50 feet, in my estimation... and in my circumstances/setup... and provides a very nice clear high-contrast image/video.

I got this to make a weather camera that had a built in web server. I needed to take time-lapse video and be able to upload the images to a remote FTP server.

The images that this camera make are really great. Really, really great.

I cannot comment on the night performance as I have the camera shut off.

Perhaps one of the best features of the camera is the installation. Not having to have a dedicated power outlet for the camera is ideal for easy installation. You do need to provide your own POE Injector but those are easily found on Amazon.TP-LINK TL-PoE150S PoE Injector Adapter, IEEE 802.3af compliant, up to 100 meters (325 Feet)

All and all a very nice camera.

Opteka CXS-400 Video Shoulder/Chest Stabilizer Support System for DSLR Cameras and Camcorders

Opteka CXS-400 Video Shoulder/Chest Stabilizer Support System for DSLR Cameras and CamcordersI bought this product last week for a school project. It is the best thing I have yet to buy as an upgrade for my DSLR, it keeps the shots looking great. So stable and it feels awesome, fits perfect and has ways to adjust everything. Just be sure to take your camera off when adjusting, if not unscrewing the adjustment could make the camera fall off. Otherwise awesome product, you should definitely buy it.

this is a great product, i bought for spare parts, it is very modular and you can build many setups with this kit. very high quality as expected from opteka, also great as a stabilizer

I had been researching various shoulder mounts for 2 weeks when I stumbled across the one for 40 dollars. I had to jump on ship when I saw the price tag. It's sturdy and customizable. Perfect for my freelance video production company. I would recommend this item to any amateur videographer starting out. Thanks Opteka!

Item as advertised, great lightweight portable product. It is also really durable I took it to Africa to shoot a doc. I've purchased several Opteka products and they've all worked well.

I just received my Opteka CS-400 stabilizer. The shipping was fast from 47th Street Photo, +1. Well, for $39 shipped it is a great deal. The quality of the components is very high. The functionality is also very good. I hooked up my 7D with my view finder and the shoots were very stable. I actually bought this to use as a stand alone rig, but also to use the parts to complete my larger rig. The parts by them selves are well worth the cost.

Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System

Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera SystemNo more fighting with your spouse when you hitch up the trailer. I think my wife actually gets some perverse satisfaction out of our hitching sessions. That makes one of us. So when she steps back into the house to grab a jacket (or whatever that "one more thing" is that keeps us from leaving), I quickly snap the magnetic camera onto the tailgate and hitch up the trailer before she makes it back outside.

Yes, it's that fast.

The image quality is great. The display is very clear. You can even reverse the picture to correct for the "my left or the camera's left?" challenge. My only complaint is that there is a little static as you get farther away from the camera (or if the charge is low).

I bought this camera for a specific reason (not to avoid the hitching wars with my wife, because that's actually kind of fun--kind of). The spaces in my RV storage yard are very close together and I have a very bad blind spot on the curb-side of the trailer. This happens to be the side that swings wide when I pull out of my space. One time the rear corner of my trailer hit the mirror of the RV parked next to me. So I bought this camera in hopes of correcting that blind spot.

Although my awning arms are aluminium, there's just enough metal hardware for the camera's magnet to stick to. Then as I'm pulling out of my space (or backing in), I can see how close I'm getting to my neighbor's RV. The picture quality isn't great at that distance, but it's still good enough to help me avoid any more close calls.

I kind of doubt the claim of 300' range. Mine has never worked at even half that distance. I'm lucky to get a signal from the rear end of my 30' trailer, but I'm sure there's a big difference between unobstructed line of sight coverage and bouncing the signal around my trailer and over the bed of my truck (probably about 40'). Honestly though, there's slight signal loss just from sticking it on my tailgate ten feet away.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the product. It's not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than buying another mirror for my neighbor's RV.

I too agree with the other positive reviews on this item, however, there is room for improvement. I needed it to hitch up my RV trailer and for backing up my trailer on the blind sides.

The magnetic camera would not stick to my trailer's aluminum and fiber glass walls. I researched this unit on the net before buying it from another vendor on ebay. The reason being that my unit, same as the one here, came with a complimentary custom storage bag for the unit & all it's accessories, & a suction cup adaptor for the camera which sticks to any part of my trailer. The suction cup adaptor solved any location placement issues I had with the camera & worked great for my trailer.

The other issue is the charging of the camera & monitor. The unit only came with a 12 volt charger for your vehicle, no ac charger, & the unit requires to be fully charged before first use. It is not practical to drive around for hours charging your unit in your vehicle until it is charged. I solved that problem using a Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter I had previously purchased on amazon for about $20. This way I can always charge the unit at home before any outing I need the unit for.

One other useful trick I discovered, which came in handy, is the video out cable the unit came with. The monitor's 2.5" screen is a bit small for backing the trailer on a the blind side next to my block wall I have nearly missed several times in the past. I simply hook the video out cable from the 2.5" monitor to my high resolution Sony 8" portable dvd player & instantly have an 8" screen to look at instead of the 2.5" mini screen. You can hook up the 2.5 monitor to a TV or any other monitor with a video plug in.

This is a great little unit. Color screen is clear and easy to see. And the instant night vision lets you see clearly at night. I like the magnetic base to mount the camera; you can place it about anywhere. The range surprised me; I have used the screen over 300 feet from the camera.

This thing has more uses then just backup. I use it to monitor my horses in the trailer while driving down the road. And I have used it to keep an eye on cargo in the back of my truck. A++ worth the money.

I do like this camera and have used it once to hook up my small travel trailer. As others have mentioned, an improvement would be to have a wide angle camera view until you get closer to your target. I did find that sun glare and shadows affected my view. I quickly found one other handy use for it too: I can view the fill level on my water tank inside the camper when I'm filling up without having to stop and start constantly to go inside and check the water level.

You'll note an upgraded model offered with a longer battery life and case and suction mount included for about $40 more at the time of this review. I ordered SH02 for the extras as I also plan to use the unit to video monitor the outside of my camper trailer while parked at the campsite at night. The newer version claims to extend the battery life of the camera from 4 to 10 hours. If you don't need the extra battery life, suction mount or case SH01 should be just fine. I'm recently disabled and hoping this unit helps me hook up the pop-up and get mobile again. JEc
