Toshiba Camileo S20 Basic Full-HD Camcorder (Silver/Black)

Toshiba Camileo S20 Basic Full-HD CamcorderI've seen mixed reviews, but I've been using this video camera for months now. It works great. I can choose what quality to record, including full HD, which is fabulous quality. Or smaller quality if I want to fit more hours on my SD card. I bought a 32GB memory chip, which gives me 8 hours + of recording. The still image isn't great, but the video is wonderful. No reservations. Buy this camera.

This camera seemed like a good buy. For only $80 or so you get a 1080p video camera. Also it has a 16 mp camera and not just a 5 mp camera like it says. at least in the menu you can choose 16 mp for the pictures

The camera feels pretty flimsy and whenever I shift my hand (even just slightly) it makes a really loud noise on the camera. The big kicker for this thing was the sound quality. I dont know if it was just my model but the sound always had a hiss to it, and that is why I returned it.

great deal, much cheaper than anywhere else. comes with camera and usb cable only. takes pretty nice videos (audio is mono, but sounds okay). if you want to take 1080p vid you'll need to buy a tripod, but 720p works well by hand with stabilization function. recommended for the average person wanting to capture some memories.

This is a good basic camera. I bought it for my stepson on sale for under $100. He has been using it for a while with no issues. The video quality looks perfect and the camera is very easy to use. One thing that I am not happy with is the audio. There are no filter settings so when it records, especially outside, you hear a lot of popping/hissing. Another thing is that this camera produces AVI video files. We tried editing on a MAC with iMovie 11 and it does not recognize the video files. On Windows they play fine in WMP and you can edit them in Windows Live Movie Maker but you need to download and install the K-Lite Codec pack with FFDSHOW for the video/audio to play properly. My stepson got tired of Windows Live Movie Maker to edit videos so we got him Sony Vega Movie 11. With all the codecs installed the video plays but the sound does not. It's not a problem with the software because we tried another camera and everything works OK. It's just the way this camera encodes the audio doesn't seem to be standard.

Cirago USB HDMI Display Adapter (UDA2000)

Cirago USB HDMI Display AdapterI can't find one review (besides generic reviews attempting to sell this product to it's consumers) about this product online, which is odd, so I will be the first. Adapter working fine for my Dell Inspirion 1545, however, today it took some fiddling around to get my desktop to show on the TV screen. I don't exactly know why. Only had this thing for a month. Tried rebooting, and still nothing. It took me detaching and reattaching the HDMI cable from the actual adapter itself (earlier I detached it from the TV, didn't work O_o) to get it to work. Works fine now. Don't know why. The picture quality isn't that great. Trails a little when watching movies, but you get used to it. Audio and video is in sync

Does not work for our Acer Netbook, even though it's supposed to. Desktop shows up on TV screen and everything. You can pretty much do everything except for watch Netflix or VLC. Even Youtube works. We don't quite understand it. The video will show up, but freeze, the audio will still play fine though. We have tried everything to make it work, but nothing has helped. It's really weird. Also the desktop won't fit completely on the screen. Tried fidgeting with resolution and such, still nothing. If anyone knows what it could be, we are open to suggestions. Again, we can't find anything similar in google search. No one else seems to have this problem. Just don't understand why everything else works, but VLC and Netflix doesn't.

Maybe one day we'll figure out why the adapter doesn't work to it's fullest potential, till then, I give it 3 stars.

Samsung Digimax A6 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

Samsung Digimax A6 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomUpdated 2/5/06: My camera fell down and the zoom got stuck and the pictures are having horizontal lines. I think the reliabilty is very poor. Had no complaints until it fell down. I am thinking of buying a canon S80 now.

Original review below:

I bought this camera from radioshack (...). I upgraded from a canon S30. I was holding out for a nice price for a small but versatile camera like the S30. This one seems to perform better in extremes of low light and bright light than my old camera, but the auto white balance was better with canon.

Just took it out of the box and shot some pics. Nice upgrade from my Canon powershot S30. Similar ease of use, much lighter, more image formats (tiff), uses any type of battery (BIG PLUS) even rechargables or the CRs, comes with a rechargable CR battery and charger, which is a nice value. The CR (Li ion) battery, enables users to take up to 380 images in succession according to the website, has to see if this is true.

White balance is slightly warmer than my old S30 camera, gives more reddish hue, will have to fix it in future. In my opinion good value for money.

Uses USB 1.1 for transfering the larger pics, so slower than my old camera during transfers.

Pic quality looks good. Has 32mb internal, holds 11 pics in full resolution jpeg. Less if you use umcompressed. Each pic is 2-3MB in size in jpeg mode. Did not try tiff mode yet, probably will double in size. Now I have to get an SD card, for this as I had a CF card based camera before.

Low light pictures are slightly overexposed in the program mode. Bright light pics are slightly underexposed. I have not used the speciality modes for these pics. All in all almost as easy as using the S30, feels the same, but lighter and more megapixels. I g=have not tried any of the 9 scene modes yet-(Portrait/Children/Landscape, Close up/Sunset/Dawn/Backlight /Fireworks/Beach/Snow).

I have a comparision of pics from my old canon S30 and new Samsung in similar settings if you want to see them check this album out.

Also there is a nice review on dpreview of its cousin the V6. Functions are pretty much the same. Actually cant tell the difference between A6 and V6, as far as I can tell they are the same internally.

It also has the capability to shoot movies at up to 30 frames per second of VGA quality (640x480). This allows stored movies to be played on general TVs, without any deterioration of the image, this is a nice improvement over my canons S30's 340x340 resolution. I read, we can also capture a still picture from movie clips, havenot figured how.

The PictBridge function of the Digimax V6 allows images taken by the camera to be directly printed without PCs. This means we can immediately get clear 6 Mega-pixel pictures, by directly connecting the camera to a printer supporting the PictBridge printing standard.

We can also set any image they want on the default screen of the camera after adjusting the image size. Additional functions such as voice recording with video, solo voice recording, voice memo to add voices to general pictures, and One-Touch playback are listed, but I have not tried them yet.

The A6 provides multiple language support including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Dutch and some more. It comes equipped with a a nice complement of accessories, including a ok loooking carrying case, USB cable, Charger, Li Ion battery, software driver CD-ROM and a wrist strap.

Samsung's website sucks, does not even list any digital cameras! So I guess firmware upgrade or driver downloads will be a terror.

All in all I am happy with the camera on day one! Served my need in the right price.

I own this camera, it's my first digital camera and I've had it for a few years now. It's an alright camera. The shutter is slow. It's horrible in dim situations. But it's pretty good outside, with still subjects. I'm actually looking for another camera. I'm about to go on a trip to Saint Lucia, and I want something reliable that will bring back some great pictures.

ePhoto Small Triple Mount Hot Shoe V Mount Bracket for Video Lights, Microphones or Monitors H629-2

ePhoto Small Triple Mount Hot Shoe V Mount Bracket for Video Lights, Microphones or Monitors H629-2I wanted a small V mount for a relatively compact setup with a small camcorder and handle and this fits the bill quite nicely.

The bracket is stout. The metal is much thicker than I expected it would be. There's virtually no give or flex here and it's certainly not going to be the weak point in any mounting setup. The hot shoe screw is threaded into the bottom of the mount and it arrived a little loose but it was nothing a few turns of a wrench didn't fix up. It's plenty tight now and I have no worries about it going anywhere on me now, the extra paranoid could add a dab of thread lock if they really wanted to. It's also threaded all the way through the mounting plate so you can attach a tripod plate to it for off camera mounting options.

The spacing and offset between the shoes is just perfect to fit an LED light panel and small boom mic. Third shoe mount in the middle is a nice touch but I don't plan on really using it for anything. Shoes themselves are very sturdy and firmly attached with 3 screws each.

The whole thing has a very nice powder coat finish and looks quite nice and has a nice sized thumb wheel for locking it down in place.

All in all, an excellent value.

The perfect size to enable one to utilize a camera light, shotgun mic, external recorder, etc conveniently on a run-and-gun shoot.

Well balanced for low strain on the camera shoe, tightens down very securely, and lower profile for convenience in operating and adjusting the mounted accessories. A valuable, reasonably priced addition that goes everywhere my camera does.

When you are on a mobile shoot on your own, and don't have a crew to handle lighting and sound, it's nice to be able to mount your light and mic onto your camera and have them move with you, without the lengthy rearranging process

When you first receive this mount the weight and feel of it might throw you off into thinking it is a well made product. Think again.

Upon installing this into the shoe of the camera, we attached a lightweight NEWEER light to it. The mount immediately rotated downward.

After removing the mount, we found that the base was not attached or tightened properly. The threads had been cross threaded, so no manual tightening was going to work well.

Also, there were burrs where the "foot" was removed from the mold.

I won't say all of these will be delivered like this, but I am requesting a refund and will shy away from this product.

Good quality and sturdy. Bought it to do multi led mounts for my Sony NX5U. It's a little tight for my front shoe, and a little close to do lets say a monitor and led. This is definitely still camera specific, but if you need multi mounts for your pro/semi vcam definitely works well.
