PTC 30ft Premium GOLD Series HDMI FLAT Cable - 24AWG and CL2 rated for inside wall applications

PTC 30ft Premium GOLD Series HDMI FLAT Cable - 24AWG and CL2 rated for inside wall applicationsThe connectors are quite long, the jacket is stiff, and bending it sideways is nearly impossible. If you need something flat but also need to make bends in the flat, forget it. Don't get it expecting to fit more cables in a raceway, as it is overall quite bulkey. If you need to make a straight run under a carpet, or under a minimum clearance wall mount, it would work great. The whole cable seems exceptionally robust and durable.

Esky C5900 H.264 Wireless DDNS WiFI IR-cut IP Camera Monitor Pan/Tilt PTZ 2-ways Audio LED night vi

Esky C5900 H.264 Wireless DDNS WiFI IR-cut IP Camera Monitor Pan/Tilt PTZ 2-ways Audio LED night vision CCTV security monitor built-in microphone and speaker Mobile Viewing Support Micro SD Card Slot Store VideoI bought this cam thinking it looked enough like an FI8918w. It works fine through IE ActiveX, but doesn't stream audio to iOS/Android, making it useless as a baby monitor. This wasn't worth the headache, and I'm an IT pro.

Update: after weeks of trying to work this thing and contacting support only to be ignored, I've concluded that this product has no way to stream audio to iOS or Android. No one but other disgruntled users has answered any of my forum postings either. I purchased an actual Foscam camera and it's made all the difference in the world. the FI8910w I purchased as a replacement streams audio and video to my portable devices without a hitch to every device I've set it up on. Esky is a big no-no.

I looked all over for a good camera that would give me good quality video at a good price. The Esky c5900 meets all my needs. It is very simple to set up. The instructions are very clear. I am going to buy 4 more of these as soon as i am done with this review. Thank you Amazon and Esky

I choose this cam because of dvr built in, I like the easy way to configure wireless connection. I spent to much time because of my pc but at the ends camera worked perfectly.

It would be great if this system had zoom function but because of the price I know this is impossible he he.

I recommend this product to people who needs to take care about home or office, and wants to access from everywhere.

Casio Exilim EX-S5 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD (Silver)

Casio Exilim EX-S5 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCDI just bought my 2nd Casio Exilim camera. The 6mp that I lost, did such nice job,I figured I couldn't go wrong with 10mp.I have not been disappointed. This camera does everything the competition does for less. The setup is easy and the pictures are nice and crisp. The size is perfect and the styling is attractive. The on/off button is kind of tricky for big hands and fingers.Overall this is an excellent camera and I would reccomend it to my friends.

I gave this camera as a birthday gift to my wife. We both love the little digicam. She needed a very compact camera to fit in her purse, but she also wanted zoom capability and excellent image quality. The credit card-sized exilim gave her everything she wanted. My wife ignored the instructions. She just switched the thing on and started taking pictures. It really is that easy to use. 5-stars all around.

My main problem is that sometimes this camera just freezes. For example, when I am switching from "rec" view (take a picture) to "view" look at shots. The lens is supposed to retract, but it just freezes.

The only fix I have found is to remove the memory card and re-insert it. Then press the (TINY) power button. That fixes the lens, but then I get an error message telling me to repower again. The second try works.

So is this the camera software, or some glitch in the camera-memory card hardware?

I also have a problem remembering which button to push to get to the flash adjustment. I often want to turn the flash off or use redeye reduction.

I bought this camera a week ago and love it. The images are sharp; the video is fantastic; and the interface is super simple. It is also very thin and fits nicely in your pocket. The downside came the weekend after I bought the camera. I was using at a birthday party for kids and my wife wanted to use it while I stepped out for a moment. When I returned she said that the camera was broken. Apparently, for no reason, when she tried to power on the camera the lens extended and then there was a buzzing sound and the camera then turned off and displayed an "Lens Error" message on the LCD. I took the camera back to where I bought it and exchanged it for a second camera. I hope this was just a flook but there is quite a bit of information on the Web about this exact problem with other Casio models. I plan to enjoy this fine camera and keep my fingers crossed that I got a dud the first go around. If it breaks again during my 90 window to return it to the store, I am going to get a refund and look into a Canon or Nikon.

I am giving this 5 stars initially. So far it is an awesome little camera, lightweight, highly functional with even more features than my previous the 7.2mp EX120. This camera takes a lithium ion battery and I like it, much easier to recharge and it holds a charge longer than the AA batteries in my previous model. I am going on vacation soon to the mountains and intend to put this to the test. I will have a detailed report soon. Stay tuned for Part 2......

PART 2 08/10/2009 Back from vacation, camera performed flawlessly in all sorts of conditions. Took around 140 pics. I explored a multitude of settings and they all worked well. The self timer was great for shots where my son and I wanted in together...4 settings on that up to 10 second delay. I used the auto exposure, with some of my own settings, but not the Easy mode...I find it to be too easy..I like to vary the settings especially the ISO...The noise that some people mention is a non issue in my book..not enough to worry about. For the money in a 10MP camera, you can't go wrong with this gem.

12/6/2009-With the advent of digital cameras, as in so many other electronic items in the 21st century..the quest for perfection has been staggering. Every camera company dueling for the smallest, lightest, most megapixels, etc etc;. Just like receivers, and televisions and DVD players, etc; the bar is raised daily. Each time we buy a new piece of equipment it seems like they are already about to release the next version , which is even better! With these things in mind. I personally like Canon , Nikon, Minolta, Fujica, Olympus etc; the companies who have been around the longest. However...Casio , Sony etc; have come on in recent years with very good cameras and electronics. My point is , that with so many millions of cameras being sold yearly and with all the technology and micro electronics piled into one tiny camera, occasionally you might get one that does not function right. I would not let this sway you in your purchase. These things happen with every one of the manufacturers. You should be alert within the warranty period for any items that

don't seem right and while you may be without it for a short period, it will be fixed.

Sony DCR-TRV130 Digital8 Camcorder

Sony DCR-TRV130 Digital8 CamcorderI bought this cam-corder because of budget constraints. Even tough I wanted a unit with many more features I find myself very pleased. I sold camcorders and known about home versions since they first became available. And of course Sony was number one then. The 130 is my third unit I owned, the others being VHS. Having a zoom up to 560, night shot, steady shot, I-link, many fades, and filming features are a big plus. I had it for about a month and find it lite and easy to use. The built in light is also a plus (eats batteries). Lot's of accesaries are available from Sony. All it lacks is a micrphone socket, wich will help zoom in on sound while elimnating background noise. Other than the mike jack you get A LOT OF BANG FOR THE BUCK.

I'll be honest and admit that if you want to spend a thousand dollars on a camcorder than you will definitely find something better. However, if you are somebody like me who had limited funds to spend but wanted all the everyday features a ... person would want, then this is the camera to buy! All the basics are included (still photo shots, fantastic zoom abilities, picture stabilization, ability to film in complete darkness and amateur picture manipulation capabilities).

It also hooks up to a PC using a fire wire cable (IEEE1394) and a video capture board, which I recommend buying the StudioDV from Pinnacle Systems that includes both for ... then getting sucked for ... by purchasing Sony's brand. Also I found the Laser Link feature to be the best features, allowing me to play back my tapes on the TV without having to hook up the camera to it every time.

Overall, the DCR-TRV130 is a great camera for what you're going to spend on it.

The Sony DCR-TRV130 is a good cam for the money. Two things that you should consider before you buy: Your computer may need to be upgraded to allow you to download digital images... and don't expect Sony to help you out with software issues. I got the Belkin firewire card... which came with VideoWave III software and a HP CDR to store images..., I also had to upgrade to Win 98 SE. But once you are set up its a breeze. You don't have to shot any digital photos with the capture button on the camera just export individual images from the video. Also, the camera itself is simple to use, which is great for our family because my wife can use it and so can our nieces.

I've bought my camcorder about a month ago and find it to be a dream. This is an upgrade of my 5 year old Sony camcorder and it has all the useful features that you would expect. It also includes a Lithium battery, a built-in light and a night-viewing system that allows you to shoot in total darkness.

I would fully recommend this to anyone looking at camcorders.

This camera is excellent. Excellent Price, excellent features. Picture quality excellent with Stereo Sound. Digital8 holds it's own against MiniDV. And for the price I paid for this Sony CamcorderYou will not be disappointed. Believe me. Nightshot is Off the hook. Super Nightshot is unbelievable. Digital Stills on tape is good, would of perferred a memory stick but for [money], can't complain. To sum everthing up, If you want a guality digital camera for a cheap price, do not overlook this camera. You would be a fool if you did.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro 4/3 Digital Camera & 14-42mm II Lens (Black/Black) with 40-150mm Lens +

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro 4/3 Digital Camera & 14-42mm II Lens with 40-150mm Lens + 32GB Card + Case + Filters + Tripod + Telephoto & Wide-Angle Lens KitThis a light weight, smaller, highly functional, easy to use, weather resistent camera. I'm a adventure motorcycle rider and the camera meets all of my requirements. The package I bought included the camera several lenses, tripod, etc., etc. The extra lenses are probably not really necessary with this particular camera. I wished I had bought an 18 200 lens rather than the 14 42. I have to change lenses too much in the middle range.

I was looking to upgrade my camera, from the E-500, I purchased in 2006.

The E-M5 takes beautiful pictures! The two lens kit is a must have, just as with the E-500. The 14-42mm lens allows you to take pictures at a normal distance. The 40-150mm lens allows me to take close ups of the children's Christmas program, from the balcony!

The rest of the kit has everything to get you going, two nice Vivitar filters, to protect your lenses, a 32 GB SD card, camera case, and more. I am not impressed with the Zeikos brand accessories. They are very cheaply made. If you spend the money to purchase the E-M5, you need to invest in a Slik Pro tripod, and a Promaster cleaning kit. I haven't used my card reader, yet. The card wallet is a cheapy, but handy!

Pentax K100D Super 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Shake Reduction (Body Only)

Pentax K100D Super 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Shake ReductionFirst off I'm an amateur photographer and just started getting back into photography. I started with a digital camera with manual controls, other lenes, etc... and then moved off to a simple point and shoot camera. This is the first SLR type camera that I have owned and the difference is huge between quality of photos and being able to take certain shots ( Arguable, but manual controls and different lenses on SLR do help )

Physical:

The body feels very solid and has a good weight. It doesn't feel like a plastic toy and feels like a very sold build quality. Even the flaps for batteries and SD Memory Card are very well made.

Button placement at first feels odd but once you've learned the menu system and how to use them it works well.

The kit lenses works very well in most situations. The only time you may want to use a different lens is in indoors with poor/dim lighting. It also feels as solid as the camera body and the manual focus/zoom wheels all turn smoothly and stay put when set.

Using the Camera:

At first like most things there is a learning curve but you can be up and taking photos as soon as the batteries are in and putting it on AUTO PICT mode. Before I purchased the camera I had read complaints on how the menu's wording of items was a bit strange, but honestly they are not hard to figure out and it is spelled out in the manual as to what they are. In fact it's easer just to go ahead and click it and see what it does. There are few of these in the menu but everything else is very clear.

Taking photos is easy and similar to any other digital camera. Depending on the mode you are in you can adjust Exposure/Shutter Speed/Aper/ISO/etc...

Another large complaint against the camera is the burst mode only allows you to take no more than 5 JPEGS ( Highest Quality ) or 3 RAW images before slowing down significantly. This is true, however, depending on your needs this may not matter. If you need to be able to take more than 5 shots at a time then you may want to look at another camera. I took a risk and found that it more than meets my needs.l I was able to take multiple shots of pets/bees/etc just fine with 5 high quality photos or 3 RAW images without any problems.

The viewfinder contains information that is listed on the top LCD and can also be viewed on the LCD on the back of the camera. All very easy to read and see once you understand where each item is placed.

Quality of Photos

Excellent. That's it. One exception though is in the AUTO PICT mode. It works well but I found that you get better photos in either the P ( Program Mode ) or by going to SCENE mode and picking out a scene type like pets, sunset, etc...

Other issues

Everything about the camera has far exceeded my expectations and all my photos have very crisp, sharp detail and color. To help shoot indoors I purchased the Pentax 50mm f1.4 lenses which is around $200 at the time of this writing. Excellent lens which makes indoor/low light photography/fast action shots a breeze. It will allow you to take more light in which will allow you to shoot at a faster shutter speed ( The faster the shutter speed -> less light into camera -> darker photo ). I highly recommend purchasing this lens if you plan on doing portraits or indoor photos with low lighting.

Summary:

Pros:

Excellent photos, build quality, easy to use controls, can be used by beginner to advanced. Remember, no matter how great the camera, the person still should know some photography basics like how to set exposure, this will help anyone get great shots from any camera.

Cons:

Burst mode only allows 5 Jpegs or 3 RAW, but may depend on person if this matters.

I grew up using the Pentax K1000 film cameras, so it was natural for me to move up to the Pentax K100D SLR Digital cameras. I bought the K100D Super, and it is truly .... "Super"!!!

Not only does it accept all my old K series lenses from my old film camera (saving me thousands of dollars), but it's easy to use. No sooner do you pull this out of the box do you immediately begin to realize how it works. The settings are intutitive, and photos are professional-grade.

I was considering it's older brother, the K10, but I feel I've made the right choice. The learning curve on the K10 would have been too steep for me. I am halfway between a pro and an amatuer, and this camera suits my skill level perfectly.

This camera makes photography fun again!

If you're an avid photographer (which means you love to take photos) or you're new to digital SLRs and you're ready to make the move to a digital SLR, then the Pentax K100D Super is a top choice.

For those use to operating a typical 35mm film SLR, the switch to digital is fairly easy. I've been a Pentax guy for over 20 years: the old K1000 being one of my favorite standard SLRs, along with the newer ZX50. If you're not use to using a typical SLR and have been using any of the simple point-and-shoot digital cameras out there, don't worry, trust yourself, you can adapt and it can be really exhilarating. Using an SLR, whether 35mm or digital, offers so much more when taking pictures.

You may be one of those who are debating with yourself: Pentax, Canon or Nikon? Then you find yourself reading too many publication reviews (and more, like posts here on Amazon) and you lean one way, then the next, and finally start getting crazy. Pure & simple, all three manufacturers make excellent cameras: including digital SLRs! I think anyone who is involved with photography will agree. However, I've used Canon's & Nikons, and Pentax has always ended up being my #1 choice.

When looking for a camera, I feel your #1 consideration should be: how much photography do you do? If you're like me; a traveler, a hobbyist, and find yourself shooting a lot of photos then you're more apt to invest in a good camera. The #2 consideration is cost. Without a doubt, the Pentax K100D Super results in one of the best Digital SLRs out there for the money; a fact all publication reviews, that I respect, agree on.

Many publication reviews often compare the K100D Super to the Nikon & Cannon, and one of the most consistent factors noted is while Canon & Nikon digitals are sporting 10 megapixels, the K100D Super only has 6.5 megapixel. I say, what ever. The reality is, that 10 megapixels can be a concern if you're trying to print pictures the size of posters, and quite simply most people aren't. The reality is most folks will print normal size photos, and even up to 8.5x11 or slightly larger. The Pentax shoots in RAW & JPEG, the RAW features allows for manipulation, using any descent photo software, to larger sizes photos including 15x17.5

I've used my K100D Super on a recent trip to Point Reyes State Park, here in the Bay Area. I was sure to shoot photos of sand on the beach: personal and really up close to see individual grains of sand. I took photos of the oysters we had, reflections of drift wood on still salt water ponds, a jelly fish (some 30 feet away), the crashing waves, any possible deviation of shots I could think of, and I was purely amazed at the K100D Super's performance & quality! I used both the Auto setting and then played with the other settings.

While there are many great features on the Pentax, and easy read up is available on-line, let me highlight those I would note to support my recommendation:

Cost: This camera is the best value & cost for a camera of this quality. Again, this is stated time and time again in publication & on-line reviews.

Body: The body of the K100D Super is solid! It's a great combination of polycarbonate & stainless steel housing. It's not the cheapo plastic like other cameras.

Anti-shake: This alone, is one serious note to consider. Pentax puts their anti-shake in the camera body, unlike Nikon & Canon who put it in their lenses, thus one reason why Canon & Nikon lens cost more in the long run. Now, seeing the error in their ways, I've read Nikon & Canon are racing like mad dogs to fall in line with Pentax's lead.

Pentax Lenses: Any Pentax lens ever made will work on the K100D Super. This is where Pentax has shined for years. Those of us with older lenses can just pop them right onto the K100D Super's body (in fact, most Pentax SLR cameras allow for this). If you go to a garage sale or flea market and find a great old Pentax lens, it's will fit the K100D Super. And since this is the case, all Pentax lenses benefit from the anti-shake in the camera. Better yet, digital lenses are different than film lenses. Film lenses are superior in many ways to digital lenses. Using an older Pentax film lens on the digital body enhances the quality of the photo, an added benefit to the Pentax crowd.

And, the K100D Super is already set to accept the newest generation of Pentax lenses (SDM lenses) coming out this year.

Dust Removal System: The Pentax has an internal anti-dust shake device that removes any dust that may be present.

Auto/Manual: Auto Picture Mode, Scene Modes & Manual. You can easily go between using the Auto mode of the camera or fall back on your own experience of doing things manually using the AV, TV, Manual and so on.

Memory Card: the K100D Super uses SD Cards, but typical Pentax (thinking ahead), the camera will also accept the newer SDHC cards.

Batteries: There are several batteries the camera can utilize: rechargeable, Lithium & standard AA+. This is a benefit as you're not limited to one manufacturer's battery.

I took this camera out of the box, DID NOT READ ANYTHING LITERALLY, put in the batteries, put in an SD Card, turned it on, set the date, turned it off and walked out the door to Point Reyes. Then, I turned it on and starting shooting pictures. It was that easy (and yes, I plan to read the manual). I wish Amazon let you post photos on a review.

This is a solid pick for me and others. Hope this helps.

Read Best Reviews of Pentax K100D Super 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Shake Reduction (Body Only) Here

This is my first foray into the digital SLR world. I have always had Pentax film cameras (K1000, and ME Super) and have loved their quality. I've read that the new DSLR's use the same lens mount as the 35mm camera body so it made the most sense to stick with Pentax. In retrospect, old lenses don't play well with the new auto settings of the digital camera, and new lenses are designed to work specifically with your digital camera body. If you have an assortment of Pentax compatible lenses it may still make sense to stick with the same brand in the digital world. However, in retrospect I wouldn't have given this single factor so much weight in my decision, since I won't likely use any of them unless I intend to do a lot of the manual camera work in my head. I should say that the Anti-shake feature is "in" the camera body for Pentax, as opposed to the lens for Nikon. I really like this feature and has proven to help take sharp photos in low light lighting and is a plus if you do intend to use your old lenses. Overall I am very happy with this camera, I am a casual photographer and the 6MP is more than I need for the type of shooting I like to do.

Want Pentax K100D Super 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Shake Reduction (Body Only) Discount?

I searched for 3 months reading review after review, I found myself up too late in the evenings scouring the web looking for the perfect combination of features and cost (overall value). I have owned point and shoot digicams for years, in fact own a nice Canon SD800 now and am thrilled with it the last SLR I owned was a fully manual Minolta 35mm made in 1962!

For me it came down first deciding upon one of the new SuperZoom (15x or higher) digicams (Panasonic FZ18, or Canon S5 IS), or going for a full DSLR (Nikon D40 or Pentax K100D Super). I eliminated the SuperZooms eventually because I didn't feel they were different enough from my Canon P&S to justify the purchase. This was a tough call because the SuperZooms were at least $200 less than the cheapest SLR. My gripes with the SuperZoom's I played with were that they felt like toys, very lightweight, and were small in my hands to hold. The other concern I had with the SuperZooms was that at their maximum zoom they weren't very 'fast' meaning that unless you were taking pictures outdoors with a lot of light the pictures would come out dark or not at all. I needed a camera that had a great zoom but could be used indoors during sporting events. The Panasonic FZ18 does seem to be the king of the hill in the SuperZoom segment, but I decided to just bite the bullet spend the extra dough and go for a DSLR.

I played with both the Nikon D40 and the Pentax K100D in a local mall Photo Store (big chain), and they were both nice to use. The Nikon had an edge over the Pentax in terms of focusing time (just barely), and it could fire off continuous shots better than the Pentax. But everywhere else I thought the Pentax was better. What clinched the deal was the rebate offered through Pentax which will save me hundreds over the Nikon. I ended up ordering the Pentax online because the Mall Photo store wouldn't price match. Oh well, their loss I would have bought it from them if they just would have matched.

Right out of the box I started taking pictures, I glanced at the instructions but mostly I just started taking photos. I popped in the 4 AA's that came with it, a recently purchased class 6 4gb SDHC flash card and away I went taking great pictures. I've since poured through the manual and absorbed much of it (but it'll need several more reviews for it all to sink in). I also purchased a 70-300mm Sigma Zoom lens which matched to it nicely.

I put the package to the test this weekend at a swim meet (indoors), previously with my P&S I could never zoom in close enough and it was always too dark to get a picture that wasn't blurry. Well with the Pentax I was able to boost the ISO all the way up to 3200 which resulted in a fast shutter speed and even at this high of an ISO the pictures didn't look grainy at all. In fact they looked fantastic! I was shocked at how well the camera performed, I had a blast taking picture after picture without any shutter lag and with each picture looking great! My only disappointment is that I didn't buy this camera sooner.

If you are on the fence like I was, take my advice and just buy this camera. If you have kids like I do the pictures you'll take will be priceless and will far outweigh the investment you'll make in this camera.

Congratulations to Pentax for building such an amazing camera, one that is solidly constructed and enables amateur photographers like me to produce pictures that look great!

Panasonic AG-HVX200 1/3" 3CCD 16:9 HD/DVCPRO/DV Cinema P2 Camera

Panasonic AG-HVX200 1/3' 3CCD 16:9 HD/DVCPRO/DV Cinema P2 CameraWe just received an AG-HVX200 and I tell you, it's got more menus than a powerhouse Chinese restaurant. It's not for people who enjoy the pyro-friendly camera; there are menus with the depth of a 15-layer cake. The reason is because the camera can be configured into over 100 different ways of shooting.

The HVX200 gives the new user a challenge to sink or swim, because it thrusts you into deep water. If you've ever shot with the DVX100, you'll adapt to the HVX quite well, from other reviews I've read. I'm a still shooter for a major city daily newspaper, and we're moving towards high definition gear to shoot movie clips and pull frames for news print. With this in mind, the camera's color retention are quality. But I wish the configs were a bit simpler. It will take time to learn a new format of news-gathering, but I see the potential with this gear.

One big drawback that I see is that the menu buttons are on top of the camera, beside and beneath the handle. Try shooting in the field and change your recording format, and it's an awkward feat to accomplish, since you're looking through the viewfinder (or watching the fold-out screen) as you scroll through the layers to figure which is the best recording format.

Would I consider giving this camera up? Hail, no. It's a powerful tool, and the result is what the image quality is about. The color shift with reds and greens and blues are minimal, unlike other samples from competing cameras that I have seen. This, coupled with the ability to drop files into a PowerBook with Final Cut Pro makes it a fast and efficient companion to get files changed to .mov format to drop them into ftp for web publication.

Delete unwanted files as you record. Drop the files onto a hard drive and wipe your P2 card to shoot some more. But you'd better have your software and hardware in order before you plunk down $6,000 retail,, just for the camera (and no mounted boom microphone sold as an acc). A 4gb card sells $600, the optional 100gb Firestore costs $2,000 (which is about the same price as a couple 8gb P2 cards), Final Cut Pro 5 costs $1,000, and you aren't even talking about the need for a GOOD fluid head tripod ($500), wireless microphone system ($500), blue ray DVD burner (for the multitude of gigs of recording files), extra batteries and perhaps a large external drive to store clips as you figure how to keep all the hundreds of gigs of files from overloading all your open drive space. The HVX eats drive space like a great white eats people. It doesn't think, it just does, and at up to a gigabyte per minute.

Even with working for a newspaper, we still have to adjust our budget royally to get what's needed for one HVX camera. Add filters or a 4x4 filter system and, yeesh. Or, kerching. It's bling bling for the developers, while you've just spent the same amount for your camera, just to get it up, and running.

**Rule of thumb, boys and girls: plan to spend double the camera's cost to outfit a system; aka, you'll have to fork out over $11,000 to effectively shoot in the field and edit in-house.**

For those in the pro field, it's probably worth it. For the casual user, or someone just getting into indie film making or trying to make money off the business, it might be worth it to wait. The HVX200 is a groundbreaking camera, like digital cameras revolutionized photography. Tapeless production will be adopted and will change the face of video production in the coming years. The price will drop as others compete for market share.

Being a professional videographer/producer.... I anxiously awaited the release of the HVX200. Having rented the 100Kplus Varicam for 1500 per day plus 600 per day for the deck.... I was head over heals when I read about the HVX coming out. It's DVCPRO HD codec is Professional. Not HDV consumer quality codec.. but real big boy stuff here. Sure, it doesn't have interchangeable lense, and a 2/3 chip... but man it's Sexy. Man it delivers the goods for a very reasonable price. One week or more of renting the Varicam and this baby is mine. It's my daily shooter.. my hammer and it's allowing me to deliver broadcast quality results without breaking the bank. Great for indi filmmakers and those looking to up their quality without killing their savings. It's also REVOLUTIONARY. Truly Tapeless and that's a God send. Tape is DEAD. Film is nearly dead and this camera is the harbinger of good things to come. It's not a pick up and shoot cold kind of cam. There's a learning curve... there some post considerations.. but all in all it's a 16mm film killer. Quality on par with 500 dollar for 10 minutes of Film kind of quality. It's variable speeds and timelapse is un-parralled. Ask anyone shooting tape to compare their Post affected slow motion with your real 60fps slow motion. It's just glorious.. as well is the 4:2:2 color. A must for green screen and high end work.

Best piece of technology that I've ever bought.... and I'm sure it'll be serving me well for more to come. Already had it for a year and still excited about shooting wtih it... been a while since I could say that...

Our company has purchased four of these HVX200's and we're very happy with their performance thus far. We're shooting a half a dozen HD (720P at 24fps) shows and all of our users seem happy and impressed. Be warned, however, that this camera is BIG and is not easy to use as a hand-held, particularly if you're using it with an external monitor with related battery.

The images we're capturing with the HVX200 are great. (Lighting, of course, is vital. These are not low-light cameras.) Learning how to shoot tapeless onto the P2 cards is a bit daunting at first, but, once you catch on, it's not difficult and has been reliable. We set up a laptop on location and use it to import the footage into Final Cut. Shooting at 720P/24fps, we can get about 20 minutes of video on each of the 2 P2 cards. So, it is optimum to have 4 of the cards for EACH camera. (So you can be loading the media onto the hard drives while shooting on the other two cards. It takes about 15 minutes to load one full card's media onto a hard drive.) At $1500 apiece just for the P2 cards, setting up one of these cameras is expensive. Check out Zacuto at

We're pleased.

Don't get me wrong, the video quality of this camera gets a five all the way, as do the functions of the camera. My disappointment with this camera is just the fact that it is an extremely pricey camera to operate. My point is, with a 32GB p2 card being over $1,000 (which will give you roughly 30 minutes at the highest quality of footage), you could purchase a firestore device with 100GB (or more maybe now, I have not looked at options in awhile) which will give you much more recording capability. I have used this camera for recording graduations, amateur band performances, and just about everything possible, and if you are a professional who knows what you are getting in to with the purchase of this camera, by all means, you should have already bought it. BUT, if you are an amateur film maker who lacks training with this or a similar camera, look elsewhere and work your way up, or have a professional show you the ropes of this camera.

I also recommend "The HVX Book" By fiercely Independent Films. It comes with a cd-rom showing you how to operate the menus, and a very nice 200-some page booklet.

View Sonic PJD6223 XGA Front Projector, 300 Inches - Black

View Sonic PJD6223 XGA Front Projector, 300 Inches - BlackOrdered this product from J&M, fast delivery from NY to UT. I am a hardcore movie enthuiast, and I love and admire good high definition picture and sound. I bought this product for the affordability and somewhat mixed-okay-good-fair reviews that I read about online. The Viewsonic PJD6223 is very stylish, very sleek looking, I loved how it was designed asthetically, BUT IF YOU ARE A HARDCORE MOVIE FAN, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED BY THE PICTURE QUALITY WHEN VIEWING BLU RAYS FROM A BLU RAY SOURCE OR DEVICE. This was my first HD projector that I bought for the purpose of power point and other presentations that I do for church, but it is also for High Def movies at church when we have youth group nights, so I have to say that it is perfect for presentations but not up to par for Blu Ray Movies. Shortly after it arrived I ended up returning this product the day after. I am currently looking at the $4000 SONY projectors and I may be purchasing one soon. For those of you out there who are Viewsonic fans, I just want to say I'm a huge viewsonic fan hence me buying this product in the first place, but this projector is more suited for business than entertainment.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 7.1MP MPEG4 High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 7.1MP MPEG4 High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical ZoomI normally don't use a video camera and generally stick with digital stills. As far as still images go with this camera, they are only "alright". If you want a compact camera for excellent still pictures, I suggest any of the Canon S series or higher end powershots. It is useful if you just want a quick picture of something you're recording, but it's slow to actually take the picture (about 3-5 seconds) and the quality isn't as good as a stand alone camera.

However, for video, I'm highly impressed. The one downside I have with it is that when shooting in the highest quality (SHD), the battery only seems to last about an hour. However, bump it down one notch (HD) and the battery seems last quite a while longer. After an hour of use, the indicator said the battery was still full (it has 3 values for battery life).

Personally I couldn't tell the difference between the 2 high def qualities, so I'll be shooting at the lower one to get more battery life and longer videos. On an 8 gig card, I get (in hour:minute:second) 1:54:26 at highest quality, and 2:49:53 at the lower HD quality.

One other thing, if you plan on shooting extremely long videos, the camera doesn't use the AC input while recording, only playback. This means you can't charge a battery while recording. I suggest getting a second battery and an external charger if you plan on long shoots with this camera.

*****EDIT*****

Just to clarify on the AC while recording: The camera will still record without a battery as long as the AC is plugged in. It just doesn't charge the battery while recording.

I just received this device yesterday. I got to play with it for about an hour so far. So, this review is going to be "first impressions" or "initial quality" review.

Quality, packaging, instruction manuals, and supplied accessories all look good quality.

I couldn't find an SD card in the packaging. I did have a 2GB memory card with me, so I was OK.

I could put in the battery, charge the device, take a couple of pictures, and a couple of videos without even reading the quick reference manual. I would call that intuitive enough and user friendly.

Quality of the pictures and video is acceptable considering that I used the device straight out of the box without adjusting any settings. Actually pictures and video looked much better on my home LCD monitor, but looked pathetic on my work CRT monitor. (This is not the first time I have experienced this.)

I have played the video on a 61" widescreen HD TV using S-Video cable and the quality was acceptable. Nothing compared to off-the-air HD programming, but it was not bad at all.

I have placed a couple of pictures and videos elsewhere on the Web. Amazon doesn't allow URLs in reviews. Search in Google groups and you may find a link to the pictures and videos.

I will come back here and update the review over the next few weeks.

Update 4/12/2007:

I have uploaded a couple of low light videos. Link to the Web site in the first comment to this review. Results are disappointing. With what I know now, I would probably give it only 4 stars. Can't change the rating now.

I could quickly and easily compile and burn a DVD using the supplied ULead software. I didn't try any bells and wistles, just used the simplest path and I was done with the production process in about 10 minutes. Burning process itself (with an 8x burner) took a long time (unattended). DVD played fine on a regular Panasonic DVD player.

MiniDV based camcorders probably produce much better HD footage. But, that is not of much use for me, because burning a DVD out of MiniDV footage is very hard. I don't think I could have posted sample clips on the Internet so quickly if I were using a MiniDV camcorder. So, should we compromise on quality of the video or ease of sharing the footage?

Update 4/16/2007:

This camcorder is going back. While it is very easy to use and very convenient to quickly share the footage (compared to MiniDV based camcorders), I don't think this can replace my existing DCR-DVD201 due to the poor video quality under low light conditions. I am not the kind to maintain multiple camcorders and use different one for different situations.

Buy Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 7.1MP MPEG4 High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom Now

Pros-

Small.

Light.

Concealable.

Fill flash syncs at all shutter speeds.

Video shutter speed priority and internal mechanical neutral density filter for bright scenes.

Cons-

Focus hunts. Focus fails to lock on nearest central object even when that central object has high contrast and fills >50% of frame. Focus prone to locking on background instead of subject. Focus is substantially worse than every camcorder I've ever used.

Taking stills while shooting HD video is useless. Viewfinder goes black while still is written to card. During playback video freezes. Taking stills while shooting SD video does not interrupt recording only if lowest resolution 640x480 still is selected. Unable to disable still button to prevent accidental activation.

Audio is full of clicks from auto focus hunting and grating from zooming. External microphone is a must. Can't adjust external microphone level while viewing a meter. There is no meter in any display or menu. External microphone level can't be set high enough, even when using battery powered microphone. Zooming during recording adds high pitched whine to audio from external microphone. Likely due to lack of proper shielding in camera and microphone.

Microphone jack smaller than standard 1/8" plug. Adapter cord is included.

No standard USB jack on camera, docking station or cable adapter block. Must use supplied adapter cable and either docking station or cable adapter block to connect to computer.

This camera is a poor substitute for dedicated still camera. Stills have many artifacts. Substantially worse than my oldest 1600x1200 2.1 Mega pixel Canon Elph camera.

No front lens threads. No lens hood. Lens cap prone to marking lens.

Lens adapters and filter adapter use friction push on "mount" instead of secure aligned threaded connector. Lens ring does not turn. Hama rectangular hood is good fit to filter mounted to Sanyo's filter adapter.

Tripod socket not perpendicular to lens axis.

Camera does not naturally point at subject. At telephoto end finding subjects is difficult.

No place to mount an accessory light or microphone on top of camera.

No provision to alter file naming convention.

Video data rate at minimum secure digital flash card rate. Rate is not even close to the transfer limit of current flash memory. Artifacts so prevalent that it is hard to tell if image is in correct focus. Shooting with tripod is a must to lessen artifacts. Image stabilization ok, but not good enough to prevent compression artifacting of background.

Does not come with HDMI cable. HDMI cable not available for purchase 3/2007 .

Fastest shutter speed only 1/2000.

No thumb wheel for manual focus. Manual focus isn't smooth, but jumps in steps. Unable to adjust manual focus during recording.

Changing between focus modes requires one way cycling through all options. Focal length jumps to widest and stays there when cycling past macro range focus setting.

Unable to adjust exposure compensation during recording.

Instead of smoothly changing to new lighting conditions, automatic exposure noticeably jumps between exposure levels.

Recording display confusing. Displays red "REC" even after pause button is activated, "REC" stays on while card is written, long after actually recording has ended.

Screen momentarily goes completely black after pushing video record button. User unable to follow subject motion with black screen.

Settings menu confusing. Box end wrench menu shows two tabs, but only first is used.

Videos require fast computer to play smoothly. 2006 Apple 1.5GHz G4 Macmini unable to smoothly play unscaled 1280x720 video.

I purchased the hd1a model and returned it since I was made aware that the new model was soon coming out.

Honestly although I want so much to love this camera, I am disappointed and decided to send it back as the video quality did not measure up to my old Sony P350, and the camera stills did not measure up to my wedding camera, which is a Canon 30D.

Then I started thinking. I pass up taking my Sony or Canon anywhere because they are not small enough for it not to be a bother. I realized that now with my Sanyo, I actually take it in my man purse with me everywhere I go so now I get shots and footage I never got before. What good is a great camera if you leave it at home? The point is, my Sanyo is just great if I just except that it does not take professional level HD video and that the pics are just a little grainy indoors even with flash. For casual use, this Sanyo is the missing link. I can at least improve video and stills with software if it becomes critical, but as with my wife, once I stop expecting her to be a superwoman, I realize how amazing she really is. This camera is the best hybrid out there and the macro mode blows me away. It is worth it and I am keeping it!

I have to say I am very disappointed with this camera. I had really high hopes for this one. I waited for the hd2 to come out and when I saw a lot of positive reviews I bought one, I should have waited. For Sanyo to call this an HD camera doesn't make sense. The picture has more grain and noise then my old High 8 camera. Outdoors in bright light the camera is ok. Low-light is horrible

Pros:

Nice form factor, love the look and feel and it's so tiny it fits in your pocket. Very portable and something you can take anywhere.

Secure Digital cards are great, can transfer and edit on the computer quickly

Still pictures are pretty good. Although still digital cameras are better.

HDMI output can plug directly into your HDTV (although if you are used to watching things in HD you will be disappointed)

Cons:

Indoor and Low light situations very grainy, even with the high sensitivity button.

Don't attempt to take still shots while you are filming, it works but when you watch the film you hear loud noises and the shot pauses for 2 or 3 seconds and then continues. Very cheesy.

You can hear the data being written to the secured digital card on the video which is annoying. I thought SD was supposed to minimize noise.

Watching the playback of movement with this makes me dizzy, not even fast movement either.

Image stabilization is not that great either compared to other cameras I have used.

Audio sounds a bit tinny

In my opinion this camera is geared for portability and being able to capture moments quickly as this is something you can always carry with you. If you aren't too concerned with quality picture it's probably fine. I really think Sanyo has a great concept and one day this could be the end all be all device. For now it should come with a warning of it's limitations. I am not saying it's total garbage, but if you have high hopes like I did, you will be disappointed.
