I just upgraded to this camera from my FZ3 and I love it. It will take a little time to get used to it because they changed some of the methods of accessing settings. All of those changes are a big plus in my book. The lens is still great, the handling has been improved and image quality is excellent. Some of the new featurs over pervious version;

2.5" LCD is just huge, yes lower res but still good.

Standard 52mm filter adapter much better then FZ3/4/5

High angle LCD mode works! I don't need tilt/twist any more

High sensitivity mode works, but not the best quality image

All the featurs it adds and at a price MUCH lower then any other FZ has been introduced at, how can you go wrong!!

Still love this camera. Noise is not as big of an issue as some people make it out to be. I now have the after market lens adapter that is from Pemaraal, it is a great addition.

I've had this camera two weeks now, and have had no problems whatsoever with it. It's my first digital camera, and so I spent about a month shopping around, reading various reviews, checking what needs I had in a camera, etc. When I knew that I wanted a megazoom, I ended up narrowing my selections to a few cameras: Sony DSC-H2, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, Canon S3IS, and Fuji FinePix s5200.

All of them are great cameras and review well. In many of the reviews I would regularly read of each owner praising their own camera over the traits of the others. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't afford to own one of each camera to really know what that's like. What I took it to mean was that most of the people who bought any of these cameras were very happy with them. In some ways it made things more difficult (which one should I get?), but then in other ways it was a destresser (at least I won't get a dud, whichever I end up with).

Going to the stores around here and getting a feel for them in my hand was important. Everyone's hands are different, so it won't help for people to know which felt comfy in my hands, but I'll say it was a factor.

Features-wise, these cameras are all in the same neighbourhood. Big zoom, mid-high megapixel, and plenty of user-control when it comes to the settings. The viewscreens vary in size, as does the onboard memory, the kind of memory cards and batteries the camera uses, etc., so these are the major distinctions. Lenses on these cameras are also very good, no matter which you're looking at. Fuji and Canon, for instance, are both camera companies before they were into electronics, and Sony uses the Carl Zeiss and Panasonic uses the Leica. Quibble if you must about the lens quality of one vs. another, but the differences are minute. All offer some form of image stabilization as well, which is most helpful to me and my big, shaky hands.

When decision time came, price became a factor. The Fuji and Canon were $50-100 more than the Sony, and the Panasonic was another 20 below the Sony. Again, it wasn't the only factor, but it was in there.

Other factor: Power source. Some cameras run off AA batteries (Sony and Canon, not sure about Fuji), the Panasonic uses a Panasonic brand battery (Lithium-Ion), but you can buy knock-off brands that are much cheaper. They don't last as long (I have two) as the Panasonic, but I would say they are about 90% of the shooting capacity of the one that came with the camera, at about a fifth of the cost.

And last but not least: Storage. Panasonic and Canon use SD cards, which are cheap and fast. The Sony uses MemoryStick (a Sony product) that costs more. Not sure on it's performance, but from what I could tell from other reviews, a highspeed (UltraII by Sandisk, for instance) SD card was more than adequate. I got a 1G UltraII SD card and it holds 334 pics at max resolution. It's a fine performer, and fits into my laptop's cardreader. Very fast transfer from card to CPU for editing and such. Way faster than the included USB cable.

With the Panasonic, I make the tradeoff that memory is relatively cheap and flexible with other cameras and computers, but I have to have my batteries charged and ready for picture taking. With the Sony I could have gone to any corner store most anywhere in the world and picked up two AA's to operate the camera. They don't last as long as NiMH AA's, but they'll work fine when you have no other choice. To me that was a trade I'm willing to make, since I have three batteries (each rated for 270-300) and being able to acquire more storage cheaply would be better for what I need.

If you get this camera, you will be very pleased with the pictures you take, though that doesn't mean that you would be displeased with the others I mentioned. Make sure you get a chance to hold the cameras in your hand, and see what your priorities are going to be in picture taking. If you're always on the road and charging batteries is a problem, this camera might not be the one for you (charging the battery for this camera takes 2 hours), but if that isn't an issue, this camera is an excellent choice.

The only criticism people have had of this camera has been 'noise' at high ISOs, but that's not something I've noticed. I'll be doing some night shooting soon, so I'll experiment and see what I can get. As for the other positive reviews of picture quality, clarity, colour reproduction, etc. I echo those heartily. Again, this is not a camera that disappoints. You'll be very pleased with the results.

This camera replaces 35 year old Nikons with all the lenses etc that were available at that time. I have been reluctant to join the digital camera set. This Panasonic is simply an outstanding product. In one small package you replace many heavy lenses and two Nikons I have been carrying. Prior to my purchase I tried to research hard and read mostly positive reviews on this camera. They were absolutely correct and many of the negative comments have turned out to be either very very picky or simply not reading the manual. The strong suits to this Panasonic FZ7 for me are the portrait and macro quality. The Leica lens is excellent and the results are excellent. I have now taken over 400 pictures with this camera and had one portrait printed by a custom lab. They were impressed also. Portraits are just outstanding and so are close-ups such as mountain wild flowers. The ease of use is outstanding. Yes you have to read the manual and yes you have to do some practicing but you get out of this camera what you put into it. Battery life is outstanding. I love the provided battery and don't want to be carrying AA batteries. Charging for 2 hours from completely dead is impressive and being able to take several hundred photos on one charge sold me. For the most part the software that comes with it is good although I am not sure why you would need 4 different photo programs and it seems they could have put their effort into just one great photo program.

For the amateur photographer I consider this camera to be outstanding as long as you will study the manual and try the different settings. There are many settings and they do produce the desired results. There is, of course, a "simple" setting which frankly I haven't tried yet because this camera is so easy to use the more advanced settings. For an old film camera guy its a joy to take as many pictures as I want and delete the bad ones. Seeing your results instantly is impressive and its so easy to watch on your TV that was actually the first place we did watch.

I also find the view finder to be an absolute joy. The LCD screen is more than adequate for most conditions but I find that in bright sunlight(sun behind you) the view finder is such a joy that I find myself using it more and more. The detailed information available within the view finder is in such sharp detail its amazing. Didn't know that was possible.

The arguments against this camera might be that it doesn't fit into your pocket but its so lightweight and the 12X zoom is so impressive I love to carry it. I bought a small case for it that fits it nice and tight and at Sam's Club I bought a 1GB Toshiba high proformance SD card for under $50. The 1GB card matches the battery capacity at best quality for about 329 pictures at 6M megapixels. Absolutely no regrets about purchasing this camera. I was into my third day with it before I even tried the audio. Who knew? Good idea! Another really unreal idea is stabilization in a still camera. When you are out on the 12X zoom its very impressive. Haven't used a tripod yet and for wildflowers the Nikon just about had to be on a tripod when using the Micro Nikkor lens in wind etc.

All of my Nikons will soon be featured on E-Bay. First though there is this 12 day vacation through 3 Natl Parks. Hmmm taking my laptop so I can download the SD card because I am thinking at least 1,000 pictures! It all came down to either this Panasonic or the Canon S3IS with comparable bells and whistles but the Cannon was over a $100 more and I couldn't justify it.

This camera will basically take your picture for you if you use all of its capability.

In January, my beloved Canon s-45 received the dreaded E-18 error. At two hundred dollars, it is not worth repairing. I am joining the class action law suit on that Canon camera error (Google for more info if you have that problem). So I set out to find a viable substitute.

I purchased a Pentax Optio S-6. Very unhappy. Outdoor pictures were clear but indoor pictures, terrible quality. We used the camera at a birthday party, put it back in its case and into a purse, and for some inexplicable reason, the LCD screen 'cracked'.

So, I returned it. Turns out that is a common and fatal flaw for that camera.

I went to Frys and talked to several people who reccommended that for the money, the Panasonic was the best deal. My main goal for the camera is to shoot indoor club volleyball action shots with some degree of sharpness and quality. I realize it would not be the performance of my friends several thousand dollar camera systems, but I wanted something that would 'do'.

Well, in this Panasonic, I FOUND IT! I have had it for a week, and have test run it in every situation, night, action, inside, outside, object, people. The instruction manual is a bit difficult to read, a little confusing, but once you figure out what you are doing, the camera is a real delight.

The inside volleyball shots I got are even more than I'd hoped for. I have one fun shot that captured no less than four volleyballs in the air, clearly. That was just a bonus to the player I was shooting. Don't get me wrong, you cannot get an action still like something you'd see in the newspaper, but you can get something almost as good.

I am very happy with this camera. I have decided to keep it, and am going out to purchase a good case today. Additionally, we are so happy that we went out and purchased the Panasonic DMC-FX9 for my 22 year old daughter. Her friend has a slightly older model (also a former Canon user) and is thrilled with it. We are very happy with that purchase as well.

Again, this is not a camera for those looking for the sports page spectaculars. This is a camera for a person looking to have good quality photos of their every day activities that come out clear, sharp and crisp.

An elderly friend of mine is just getting his toes wet with his spiffy new laptop,spiffy new 3-in -one printer,and this very,very sweet camera.

He is a retired art instructor,and was a professional photographer back in the days of the Rolliflexes. He asked for my help in selecting all of the above,and I have to tell you: This camera has knocked his socks off. He is trying everything the camera is capable of,and he is continually amazed at the quality,heft,and pictures the Lumix can take. Being very mechanically-minded,he is just as intrigued with its operations ,as he is with the finished print.

As for my opinion?? I wish I had one of these! I have a very nice pocket-size Nikon,5.1mp,and I bought it so I could carry it in my pocket. It takes wonderful photos,so I really don't need this one.But..I like the fact that you can override the auto settings and tweak it to your specifications.He has been having a lot of fun with it over the past couple of weeks.Taking photos in all sorts of light situations.Moon photos,sunsets,etc.

I think he will continue to be very pleased with what he has purchased.It was so nice to see his face light up the first time he took a photo and looked at it in the very huge LCD screen.

I suggest,as amazon did,that you get a 1Gig SD card,minimum,but if you can swing it,go for the 2Gig.

All-in-all,this is a great camera,and coupled with a spiffy,high-quality printer,anyone into photography will be pleased.

This turned out to be perfect for field recording with the Zoom H4n. I am taking audio production in college and have a ton of stuff to carry around when field recording. I use the bags in a carpenters format, zipped together on a belt and hanging in the front like a carpenter would where a tool belt /bag. The bags can also be unzipped from each other so you can have one with studio cables etc... and the other for field work with a super cardioid shotgun mike. The shotgun pocket on the side is pretty cool but haven't needed it for that yet. Bags are really well made, super nice ring pulls on each zipper, straps well made and can be removed to use the bags on my ThinkTank photo belt!

The bag arrived today. I was impressed by the overall layout of the bag with its compartments, external headphone hook, and attachment rings, however the zip-together feature of this bag was the instant deal breaker for me. After looking the bag over (hadn't even pulled the tags off yet) I decided to zip them apart. The first time I attempted to seperate the two bags, the small metal bottom tang of the zipper came right off of the fabric! This is the part that's crimped around the fabric, that you fit into the bottom just before you zip it. As you probably know, there's not a lot to be done once that happens, except to replace the whole zipper, which was impossible without ripping the side seams out of both bags. Attempting to reattach the tang would have only worked a short time, and would have come off again. It's not like I was rough with it either, so it was an accident waiting to happen. Another thing I noticed was the belt loop tabs seemed like they were cheap nylon covered flexible plastic that velcroed at the bottom of the bag with an overflap. This would be very clunky to attach to my belt and remove while wearing it, and I certainly would not trust expensive gear to its security without also using the shoulder strap. Overall, the outer ergonomics of the bag really failed me, not only in quality and comfort, but also in execution. I suppose if you didn't use that breakaway feature much it would be ok, but why not just get either a single large bag, or a harness/belt multibag system. This bag tries to answer both but accomplishes neither, owing to the way it goes together. I think I would have used quality snaps or clips and sewn nylon tabs for both the interconnect and the belt attachment.

Back to the zippers. I suppose early failure may have been a fluke, but the other zippers on the bag were not smooth operating, either, unlike say a YKK or Talon, etc. You had to hold the outside of the bag, prying back the zipper's overflap, to make the zipper open and shut without it hanging up. And if you have audio meters or record light that you want to keep an eye on during a shoot, simply leaving the zipper open will not give you a good view inside, unless you hold or prop the bag open. A zipped flap top would work much better, like on a bike bag. Say, that gives me an idea...

My takeaway impression the poor quality of the zippers in general, and the use of a zipper for separating the bags specifically, is the achilles heel of the entire design. I certainly would have used Velcro or external snaps with d rings for bag interconnects, as they are a major stress point. Mind you, I was not wearing the bag, nor were they filled with gear when this happened. Shame on Lowepro. You can do better. I am giving this three stars overall, as most of the rest of the bag seemed fairly well thought out, and the zipper problem may be a fluke, but I don't think so.

Not to rail on the subject, but poor quality control in manufacture is an unfortunate outcome of outsourcing and working to a price point, and you really DO get what you pay for. I will likely just pony up and buy something serious for my audio gear, like a Petrol or Portabrace bag. Ten years from now, my audio bag will be barely broken in, and the others will all be long forgotten.

For professional use, classic Sony quality. There's really nothing else like it on the market. The JVC equivalent costs almost as much and JVC always comes across as more of a "consumer" item.

Menu set-up will be difficult for non-pros, but if you're buying this you're probably already beyond "consumer level," so you'll know how to deal with it. I added a component video out card (from B&H Photo/Video) that Amazon did not carry. The picture output quality to a component video monitor is fantastic especially "downscaled" HDV to a standard definition monitor. You'll be able to use one of these decks in almost any digital video production environment.

The Mini DVR is a very safisticated system and I am very pleased with the four purchased for my home security system. Features that make it very desirable include: Small and easy to hide, low power, runs cool, no mechanical disc drive to fail, does not loose it's memory when the power is disconnected, records on motion detection, takes up to a 16 GB SD card, does not need a PC to function, overwrite feature, and can run on battery power. This DVR has a neat pre record feature that when engaged starts recording the video signal 5 seconds before the motion activation is detected. This way it catches everything from the start. Sound feature not used. Came with a slick little device that will hold the SD memory card and plugs into a USB2 port allowing files to be viewed on a PC.

One minor issue not covered in the instructions is when the unit is powered up for the first time and the video output is plugged into a NTSC compatible monitor the picture has a rapid vertical roll to it. When the unit was tested it was set for PAL compatibility and must be reset for NTSC which can be tricky since the screen is rolling making it hard to read. Going through the following sequence by pressing the keys indicated when you first turn it on it will set it to NTSC. 1. Menu 2. OK 3. Right Arrow 4. Right Arrow 5. OK 6. Right Arrow 7. OK. When the DVR set to PAL is plugged into the color quad processor Real Time Color Digital Quad Processor Security-surveillance or area-monitoring systems with Remote controler DIY QD435 1EYthe picture does not roll but is very low quality until the DVR is changed to NTSC.

The settings that work best for me are to record at 5 FPS and not 30 FPS. Set the motion sensitivity to 7 and the record time to 30 seconds. Used this way a 16GB card will record about 8 to 10 days worth of movement of street traffic in our neighborhood.

P100 Visual Presenter, 1.3MP, Sxga,

I purchased this visual presenter for evidence presentation in the courtroom. The camera is amazingly crisp and clear. The zoom capability and functionality is incredible. This presenter does every asked of it perfectly. As of now I have not found any flaws nor do I have any complaints. The presenter is even easier to carry than I anticipated.

The Nikon D3200 is an excellent high-resolution camera with multiple settings and options yet still easy to use for novice photographers. The bundle of lenses, case, tripod, etc provides pretty much everything needed. One issue is the two telephoto and wide-angle lenses need additional adapters. Otherwise, no complaints.

This was a fantastic purchase. The photos are phenomenol. The colors looks like they have been enhanced they are so vidid.

The package was a great savings. I would highly recommend!

I love this camera and the extra 55-200 lens that comes with it. The accessory kit that comes with it is very basic and a bit sub-standard though. The bag is great and the tripod is adequate for home use but the extra tele and macro lens are not the best quality and tend to distort the pics you take while using them. I love the camera though. It takes great photos and the auto-focus option makes it really simple to get really good shots, even for the novice. Love it.

I did a lot of research before buying a DSLR and finally settled on the Nikon D3200 package and I couldn't be happier. I had been using a Nikkromat film camera for many years and knew that Nikon made great products. To be fair some of my friends own Canons and they seem wonderful as well but I'm a bit of a Nikon fan I guess. The kit that I bought came with an 18-55 lens and a 55-200 lens both of which suit my needs perfectly. I use the camera mostly to get reference material for my drawings and paintings, so I need to be able to get great close-ups and long distance shots and this camera really delivers. I know some people complain about the lens you get with kits but these are both Nikon lens and produce fantastic results. Would highly recommend this camera kit.

Sanyo VPC-GH2 High Definition Camcorder and 14 MP Camera w/12x Optical Zoom

I never write reviews but depend on them heavily when making purchases, so I am going try to help someone else out. I was looking at a higher end xacti camera and was about to pull the trigger when this was released. I couldn't find any reviews but one Radio Shack in town actually had one of these cameras. My son had a baseball tournament that weekend so I figured I buy it and try it out. For $200 I wasn't expecting much and assumed I'd return it. I was blown away at the quality as was everyone else who viewed it. There are some gotchas though.

First, you obviously can not buy plain old flash cards for this. I tried class 4 and it was useless at 1080p. Class 6 works much better but also has a problem. When filming a baseball game I set it on a tripod and the 1080 was amazing. When filming a football game I didn't use a tripod and I got a choppy mess. It cannot keep up with writing the video when panning at 1080 even with class 6. I have not tried the class 10 yet, but everything I have read tells me that no video camera needs class 10 memory. Having said that, I cannot see much difference between the 1080 and 720 quality except the video file sizes which are huge. The 720 setting is perfect on motion, panning, and quality. At 60 fps you have the ability to really slow down the motion while easily controlling it on a computer with the arrow keys. It is fantastic for analyzing a baseball swing or golf swing and see the point of impact.

The battery is the weak spot. Buy extras and have them ready. If you get over an hour of continuous filming, you are lucky. Research your flash memory based on user reviews from sites like newegg or amazon. DO NOT go to the local Best Buy and just grab something off the shelf. Never buy a class 6 stick over 8GB, and preferably nothing over 4GB. They larger sticks have many problems with corruption and you can spend a lot of money replacing these things. A reliable 4GB can be found for around $20 and get you 2 hours at high quality.

Power button can be irritating, and the record button can as well. Those are things you will work out though.

Simply put, you cannot possibly argue that the quality of this camera far outweighs the cost. It is the best purchase I've made in a long time, and I am a really difficult customer to please.

I tend to be overly verbose which is why I don't write reviews so I apologize for that.

That's what Sanyo advertises and it does the job for both. It takes great photos at 14 megapixels and does full 1080, 60i video using the mpeg4/h.264 recording format. It has 5x optical zoom and an additional 12x digital zoom for video. The video/photo image stabilizer is just OK, in fact after using it more and more, I'm leaning closer to saying that it doesn't even exist.

I picked it up from Radio Shack for $199. The one I got is black in color with a plastic casing and feels kinda cheap but I expected that. Basically, this is your typical budget, entry-level point/shoot/share digital camera and HD video camcorder. I'm pleasantly surprised with what it can do and I am happy with it. It works as advertised just don't expect high quality. With an 8GB card will give you 61 mins of full HD or 1690 14MP shots assuming you do one or the other, less if you do both.

If you will do a lot of video/pictures, I suggest getting a 2nd battery and a higher capacity SD memory card. The battery can drain pretty fast. The SDHC card that I got with this camera is a Gigaware brand class 2 because it was all they had in stock. What a MISTAKE. You definitely need a class 4 SDHC card or better for HD video. Also, a bit of warning, indoor video is terrible even with the high sensitivity setting on (a setting that supposed to compensate for low light) decent lighting or outdoor HD video should be no problem. BTW.. I played the video on VLC, video was terrible. My suggestion is to make sure you have the proper codecs installed on your computer to view the video files.

Better than a Flip -this tiny pocket camcorder is packed with features you'd expect in more expensive camcorders. However, the only two significantly useful features are the electronic stabilization and swingout LCD. Compared to Flip-style camcorders or digital cameras with fixed LCD viewfinders you can shoot useful hand-held video from a variety of positions without the shakes.

The auto-focus works great, giving you better composition compared to fixed-focus Flips. Turn on macro focus and you can shoot tiny bugs 1cm away.

The 5x optical zoom works fine but its little button is tough to control, especially during one-handed shooting. The GH2 is easy to operate with the right hand: flip the LCD with a pinkie, press the top record button with the thumb, shoot from the hip.

Audio is surprisingly good due to the microphone placement on the LCD cover, facing your subject.

The flash is great for taking indoor stills, with still picture quality comparable to other small digital cameras.

Battery life is ok, I got 1.5 hours in SD shooting (a static shot). However, in "field use" recording clips in HD, taking several flash pictures, and using focus and zoom, I get about 45min battery life.

Low light picture quality is average (as all camcorders are) but turn on the "high gain" feature and you'll capture usable video that most camcorders won't get.

Manual features available made me LOL! There's a lot. You'll have to read the manual a few times.

Picture quality is pretty good. Shots taken at 1080i setting viewed on a 52" 1080i TV look great, with good detail and color. The GH2 records 1080i video at about 17Mbits/s. You'll need a decent computer to edit HD files.

Webcam: Fixed at VGA size @15fps and no manual control it's a very basic webcam.

Cons:

Bugs: the GH2 locked up on me once -popping the battery cures it.

Construction: the GH2 feels like an large clamshell cellphone. Not as robust as a Kodak Zx1, for example. Just don't drop it.

Overall a great value in a convenient little package.

This is a great little camera. The ability to shoot 16:9 wide screen high resolution images in addition to true HD video is a great plus.

The jpeg compression is a little excessive, compared to my Nikon camera, but the pictures still come out great.

Just remember that there is a bit of shutter lag, especially when using flash.

I did discover that I had to upgrade my computer before it would play the high resolution videos that I shot.

The battery life is right in line with spec at about 90 minutes of continuous recording.

The Sanyo power supply for the camera is unfortunately rather expensive, at about $50.-

In conclusion, there is a mix of good and bad. However, for the money I think this is a very good camera.

This camera is much smaller than I expected from the pictures, just about pocket-sized for a guy. 1080i HD video looks great too. It has a ton of features for the price, optical zoom being a notable one. The camera claims to come with onboard memory, but don't expect to use it. It holds about 20 seconds of HD video. Don't let that turn you away though! Get a 16GB Class 6 SDHC card (like this one: Transcend 16 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS16GSDHC6E [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]), and you'll have 2 hours capacity. I'd make sure the card is at least Class 6 so as to minimize saving delays, this way you can rapid-fire several HD clips without waiting for the camera to finish saving.

Saw elsewhere in the reviews that the manual is hard to find. It is indeed! Once you finally track down the PDF on Sanyo's site, that turns out to just be the shorter "User Guide". This directs you to download the full Manual, but neglects to tell you where!

The item that shipped is what was pictured, so no surprises there. I knew the price was really low, so I was taking a chance... and lost out. I hooked the cable up between my Droid Razr and my TV and the image was riddled with colored spots that changed appearance as I wiggled the wire. The conductors in the brand new cable were compromised. This cable is useless right out of the box! Don't bother.

Well, other reviews were about this product were correct. I ordered two cables to connect my Droid Razr to my Westinghouse TV. One worked perfectly. The other said it was connected, but you could not see anything on the screen. Amazon was great. I returned the defective cable and received a prompt return.

I purchased this cable to replace another micro hdmi cable that I use to play video from my transformer prime. My first one was chewed on by felines, and would lose sound if somebody moved the cable. This cable wouldn't transfer ANY signal. Neither my TV nor transformer prime recognized the connection. Then I retested my old cable, and both ports work fine. This cable was useless. I've purchased many things from amazon, but this is the first defective product.

Yes, the metal gold plated micro portion was attached to my tablet after the cable disconnected. This happened the first time I used the cable. After attempting to reassemble, cable did not work...piece of junk, very poor quality.

The Pentax Optio H90 is my eighth digital camera. I've been shooting digital since 2003 and have owned several Fujifilm and one Samsung. I still own a Fuji 8mp and a Samsung 12mp. This background is so that you know I've purchased and learned to use a number of digicams.

The Optio H90 is a wonderful little camera. It has great product design and is easy to hold and use. It has the softest shutter of any camera I've ever owned and that is a plus. The controls are very well laid out. It's internal menus are the easiest, most logical and well thought out of any I've ever looked at or used. There is surprising depth to what this camera can do. My favorite feature is what Pentax calls "Memory." This function allows you to set and have the camera remember, each time you turn it on, an extensive list of settings. The coolest of these items is the ability to zoom the camera to any focal length and have the H90 recall it. So if between the 28 140mm (35 equivalent) focal lengths you'd like to maybe start around a 50mm lens equivalent, you can do it. There is also a "Green Button" that allows you to take your favorite variable function and bring it out of the menu and onto the green button. I use mine to bracket exposures.

The photos are of very good quality, but perhaps just a bit soft in low light. Pentax has a post shot stabilization system, Pixel Track SR, that actually works quite well. There is a slight delay when it functions, but no more so that other cameras "fix" computations. The menu and mode functions offer an enormous variety of settings. The "OK" button sets what information you can see on the LCD screen. You just push it to see more or less information. The Optio H90 comes is three color varieties, I got the silver and ceramic white job, a very clean looking product. The screen is quite good, even in bright sunlight, but you will probably want to brighten it some to shoot is direct sun. The camera doesn't have an automatic brightness mode. It's very reasonably priced, as well.

Of course, it's not perfect. I wish it had a bit more battery life, it's about average for its class I would say. In the review mode the lens does not retract. I wish it would, in order to protect against accidental touching of the lens or possible damage. The camera batteries don't charge in the camera. That would be nice, too. I bought a $6 SD/USB reader and upload photos to my Macs using it, thereby saving a bit of battery life.

My conclusion is that the Pentax Optio is a great camera for beginners through advanced amateur photographers. It is a camera you'll want to keep on your person at all times. The H90 delivers quality images in a huge varietiy of shooting situations. I've taken great macro photos as well as scenics with it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced and very capable digital camera.

I'm not a professional photographer nor am I an amateur. I bought this camera knowing that it isn't the BEST point-and-shoot out there. I wanted an everyday camera that's practical, stylish, and takes decent shots. People say a camera is just as good as the person shooting it.

-Relatively quick shot times

Cons:

-Low-light shots can be a little grainy

-The screen on the back is a little small, but it's manageable (it's a P&S, what else do you expect)

-Extremely contrasting images are hard to get a good balance/focus on

Bottom line its great at what it does, it out performs its price range; $100 camera with filters and stylish look, check!

I love the camera. It's simple to use and is loaded with features. It's not an SLR, but it's handy and fits in my pocket. The only thing is that it would've been better if it used AA or AAA batteries. I guess I have to buy a backup battery for emergencies. I like the different shooting settings. It can even take clear pictures in low-light settings. I was able to take some nice shots of the total lunar eclipse although I just got the camera a couple of days before. You can edit pictures on the camera without the software and it creates a second copy, leaving the original intact. You can stitch 3 pictures for panoramic view, right on the camera and it's easy to do it. It basically shows you the edge for the first frame, which you can superimpose over the object and take the second frame then repeat for the third frame.

What I don't understand is why different color models have vary that much in price!!!

Great light weight, fit in your pocket camera with wide clear screen, easy to use controls and straightforward menus. Very nice optical zoom and macro features. Perfect camera for taking high quality pictures when you do not want to lug around your SLR. Super camera for the price.
