Sony Alpha ECM-SST1 Stereo Microphone with 3 Filter Set + Cleaning Kit for 3, 5, NEX-F3, NEX-C3, NE

Sony Alpha ECM-SST1 Stereo Microphone with 3 Filter Set + Cleaning Kit for 3, 5, NEX-F3, NEX-C3, NEX-5N & NEX-5R CamerasGreat price for the kit you get...the microphone works wonderful and I do use the filters. The rest of the accessories really aren't necessary for me though. I know the microphone alone is around $100 on Sony's website.

eForCity 25ft Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable, Version 1.3, 1080p, Black

eForCity 25ft Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable, Version 1.3, 1080p, BlackI ordered 2 cables and could not use them right away, after thirty days I hooked them up and the hdmi would not produce a clear picture or audio. I tried other cables I had that were shorter to test the system. all perfect picture! I do not reccomend this seller or this product. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE! Try Aurum Ultra series for better quality at an affordable price!

Please do not go out and spend $$$$ on expensive HDMI cables

if you do not actually need them. These work just fine.

I am using them in applications where the video and sound are going

from a laptop to a 60 inch LCD HDTV and from a Blu-ray player to a 52

inch LCD HDTV. Both work perfectly. I have heard you need higher quality

cables for carrying multi-channel surround sound signals, but I think that is

a lot snobbery and wishful thinking.

The male ends of these HDMI cables fit nice and snug in the female receptacles

of the various equipment I am using.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS15 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 16x Optical Zoom (Black) BigVALUEInc Accessory

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS15 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 16x Optical Zoom BigVALUEInc Accessory Saver 16GB BundleI based this purchase off of reviews for the camera itself. The other items that come with this camera come at a extreme value (like 20 bucks more than the camera cost). The extra battery that comes with this kit, actually holds a charge longer than the one that Panasonic makes and comes in the camera. The mini tripod is great! I couldn't be more pleased with the camera as well. It takes better video than my JVC camcorder. I wanted a camera that takes quality pictures of my child in action. Every camera purchase I made of the $100-150 range, yielded terrible blurry pictures. I went through a nikon, and a sony, before making the informed decision to spend a little extra on this camera. It takes great pics in any light, and has a wide array of modes that are very artistic or "manual" in nature, for those that like to control all of the things like shutter speed and f-stop. The flash is powerful, the resolution is as good as my SLR. The color is digital, so you see the pink artifacting, but only under a magnifying glass, and in my experience, you only get rid of that sort of thing when you spend thousands of dollars for a camera. This is the best digital camera I have owned. I have had experience with Poloroid, Sony, Nikon, HP near this same price range, and this is by far superior. I did a lot of homework on this purchase, save yourself some time and know that this is the best in this price range.

Mini DVI to HDMI Adapter Cable for OLD Macbook iMac Pro with Cable Organizer

Mini DVI to HDMI Adapter Cable for OLD Macbook iMac Pro with Cable OrganizerThe only way to describe this product is cheap. The manufacturing is terrible. The mini DVI end wouldn't fit into my Macbook. I had to use pliers to bend the metal so it would slide in. It was also hard to get the HDMI side in. Once I got it in, I connected my Macbook to the TV but there was no sound. I would spend the extra money and get something that works.

Although I haven't used the cord yet, is the cord I odered and will do the job that it vwas intedned for.

Panasonic PV-GS320 3.1MP 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

Panasonic PV-GS320 3.1MP 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized ZoomMy wife and I purchased this item to film our family events over the coming years. After a lot of research I narrowed it down to this and the Sony DCR-HC96 (in fact several online reviews compared these two as well). It came down to price, which was better at Circuit City. Unfortunatly I will be paying a 15% restocking fee now as we have decided to return it and go with the Sony. The Panasonic, I feel, is a really good camera. The colors are bright and crisp...during the day. However we felt that most of the use would be during the evening hours indoors. With all three lamps turned on in our living room, "Auto" mode showed faint images and shadows when not pointed close to a light source. After several adjustments in "manual" mode we managed to get a decently lit picture on the viewfinder (...the picture will not show up as bright on your tv). Poor lighting is a big problem with Digital Camcorders, so I was actually somewhat content with this picture quality. Where this camcorder falls short IMO is the lack of an onboard lightsource. It has a "cold shoe" on the top where you can add your own light. However it will have to run on it's own batteries since it's not powered by the camera (also the only lights I have found so far are on ebay). Knowing that this is a problem with every brand of camcorder, I simply don't understand why companies insist on not putting better, if any, light sources on their equipment. Oh well...at least the Sony has a "hot shoe" to add a light source if needed.

Overall I think that this is a VERY nice camcorder...if you plan on staying in well lit areas. Just my two pennies worth :)

I purchased this nifty little camcorder primarily for making

low-budget movies. I read the reviews and compared prices on

numerous models and decided the GS320 was the most affordable

and suitable model (GS500 was unavailable at the time). The

box arrived in the mail and I began some film testing and was

quickly impressed with the video quality, especially outdoors,

creating some clear, vivid images. It's true, the low lighting

isn't the greatest and the colors typically fade with the lack of

proper lighting. If you plan on filming a lot at night or

creating some dark creepy scenarios then this model probably

isn't what you want (The GS250 however has some great low

lighting capabilities, although, it too was unavailable at the

time).

The GS320 is very lightweight taking much stress off of the

arm and wrist, and the handstrap is also adjustable to fit practically

any size hand. You can purchase high-quality mini-tapes which

bring about an even more impressive looking picture (I've found

these to cost about $10-$12 per tape). The zoom is nice, although

you do lose some picture quality as already mentioned in several

reviews. This camcorder also has some neat special features, one

of which cuts down on that typically uncontrollable background noise

by concentrating its built-in mic on the speaker. The built-in OIS

works well in keeping the image steady for those distant, closely

zoomed in shots. Since I use Adobe Premeire Elements 3.0 for movie

editing, I only dabbled briefly with the 320's effects, most of which aren't very useful to my purpose. APE 3.0 is a great editing tool to

use with the 320; it's fast and simple and allows for much creative

freedom. I bought the APE 3.0/Photoshop Elements 4.0 bundle which

ran about $100 and is indispensable to a striving movie-maker.

For the price and quality, the GS320 seems to be unparalleled.

An unregrettable choice so far.

I just picked up this camera locally to use as a backup/crash cam for a AG-DVX200 prosumer camcorder. It works fine and by all means is a good camera for the money but there a few features that are annoying enough that some folks might want to avoid it (none of these points are a deal breaker for my purposes).

1) There is no audio input so you're stuck with the microphone that is in the camera.

2) The USB, DV and power ports are located behind the battery. This wouldn't be so bad except for the next point.

3) The charger will not power the camera and charge the battery at the same time. This is a good way to force us to purchase a second battery. We need a second battery anyway..

4) The hand strap position makes NO sense. It is far too low slung making the camera fit loose in your hand. Once you loosen your grip on the camera, it flops around in your hand uncontrollably. Not a problem if once you grip it again. Bah!

5) The hot shoe is actually a cold shoe so there is no way to trigger an external flash when using the still camera mode.

While those points are enough to sway away most users, this camera is about low cost high quality video, not the normal features consumers have come to expect. The camera is solid and produces a fine picture. The controls are usable with one hand so you can make adjustments on the fly fairly easily. Pressing the camera button during video recording or playback will cause a still image to be recorded to the SD memory card kinda neat. Finally, it works with Linux so dvgrab just pulls down video on demand.

I'd give this camera a 7 overall and a 9 on picture quality. For the price, it's probably the best picture wise. You have to decide if the negatives are a show stopper or not.

I think for someone who is interested in a low cost high quality SD (standard definition) camcorder with picture quality being the number one requirement, this little camcorder is the ticket.

This camera works fantastic with our iMac & Macbook. It is a breeze to get video from the camera into iMovie. I accomplished it on my first attempt & no documentation was required.

You make the connection via Firewire, turn the camcorder to "play" mode and iMovie will detect the connection. You just click the "import" button and watch your video be copied over. The video quality is fantastic. My wife was really impressed.

We made the mistake of originally buying a JVC Everio (hard drive based camcorder). While it was possible to get the video onto our Mac, it was by no means easy. After going through about 300 different procedures, you would finally be done. But then it was complicated to manage the files. It was a giant waste of money & time.

This camera worked easily right out of the box. I am highly impressed. And of course, because we own Mac's, we didn't have to waste time by installing stupid software onto our computers (the unit does come with a CD-ROM for PC's).

We paid $365 for this unit. All in all fantastic camcorder!

I've had a Canon Z45 for over 5 years and it has provided me with reliable performance and decent quality for home and vacation video. When we purchased our 42" widescreen TV and began taping in 16:9 aspect ratio, we found during playback that the image quality was definitely hurting. I thought I should replace my Canon with a HD Camcorder, however, my research failed to convince me that the time is right high cost, various recording media, difficulties editing and unknown capability to transfer to a standard DVD. I currently like the ease of making DVDs to share with family and friends with our HDD recorder.

Researched standard definition camcorders and I was sold on the PV-GS320. 3 CCD sensor, 10x optical zoom, image stabilization, size/weight and great price. I am amazed at the quality of the video and sound it is absolutely phenomenal to quote others `crisp image, true-to-life colors'. To my eyes it's close enough to HD for my videos. My wife was skeptical of the need for a new camcorder but when she saw the first video, she was astonished at the difference. My wife and daughters enjoy the playback with the remote for slow motion and freeze frame. It is a great tool for critiquing my daughters' swim strokes.

Great price, received in 3 days. Easy to set up and use. My 10 & 12 year old daughters have no problem taping, playing back or using the joystick. Others have criticized the lack of a microphone input and the quality of the digital camera. I believe the internal microphone is excellent and I have a good digital camera for taking still shots. Battery life is short ordered a CGA DU-21.

Nikon Coolpix 8400 8MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens

Nikon Coolpix 8400 8MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom LensI own both the Nikon 8800 and 8400. These cameras are a perfect pair with the 8800 telephoto capabilities and the 8400 wide angle. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the 8400. It is smaller, lighter and can be dropped in a coat pocket. Both cameras can go between full manual to completely auto. There are a good number of scene modes as well. In essence they are identical other than the zoom and image stabalization on the 8800 (necessary with the 10x zoom).

I bought this camera to replace a high MP Sony pocket camera, and I am thrilled with it. The picture quality is absolutely gorgeous in any lighting. The red eye reduction really works, and gets rid of the red-eye before it ever gets to the memory card. It has a compact flash card memory system, which is great because big compact flash cards are much more afforadable than the other types of cards. This camera is better than my brother's Canon SLR in terms of picture quality, but not nearly as bulky and cumbersome. The battery life is fantastic. One other nice feature is the screen at the top of the camera which lets you see how many pictures you have, and the batter life, mode, etc without opening the screen. The only drawbacks to this camera are (1) not the biggest zoom lens, but plenty enough for the typical photographer, (2) the screen could be bigger, but still acceptable, and (3) when you have the screen open, you can't use the viewfinder, which is a little annoying, but not a big deal. I have owned 4 other high-end digital cameras and this is by far the best one I have ever used.

And after having a Nikon 950 for a number years, it was time to just move up. The one thing that I did buy with my N950 was a fisheye lense, which I really enjoyed. But after a while those fisheye picture really got kinda boring, but what I really enjoyed the most out of it was the Wide Angle'ness of the lense.

Most camera only give you 28mm worth of lense, but the one thing that sold me on this camera was that it did go down to 24mm and I wanted my next camera to have that movie mode. A trival feature for some folks, but as Compact Flash cards get cheaper by the day. Having a digital camera with a 60 sec (30fps movie is alot of fun, which is the TV standard), There is also a 15fps mode which is idea for sending over the internet via e-mail (cable modem best required as we're talking about a 30 second flick weighing in at about 3MB in length)...But, I don't have any problems using my local dial up... but it's just takes longers to upload and download.

But, the 24mm and 8 Megapixel, which in most regard captured photos in the ISO rating of 50. Which if you know photography this is superb for capturing colors and definition. If your looking for a camera shooting far away shots, this probably isn't it.

I prefer to shoot people and large machines with in a 50 feet distance... However, this is a real dandy for photographic the wide open great outdoors mountain top/city scapes skylight photos. Every photographer is different in what they shoot.

I also like to zoom in on a macro mode and photograph ants and little bugs. They just make for interesting photographs. This lense is tight and I love how they (Nikon) has listen to the photographers over the year in pointing out what would make a camera easy to operate and very functional. Once you master this electronical beast, which is pretty straight forward easy. Well then, you'll see how fast you'll get hook on using it.

Alot of photographers on several of the digital camera review online sites have some really great reviews online. But take them all with a grain of salt. Will you really be worried about a 1/8 second lag in your shutter. I won't.

I was seriously considering getting a Nikon D-70, and having the flexibility of a variety of lense. But, in all reality, I found by the time you had to tote around all your gear and worry about getting it ripped off. Photography, by and whole wasn't worth the time of day. However, if you can buy something with a great lense attached to it and a functional device... Well, then you'd have the perfect set up. The D70 is a sweet camera to hold in your hand but, if you looking for something way more function without the big price tag, take a look at the 8400 or the 5400.

Granted, this camera doesn't look cool like a DSLR, but I perfer to choose the easy of use and fuction over a big bulky DSLR and also, if your a world traveler, all theives know SLR are worth a lot more than these boring looking cameras,,,which pack alot of punch.

Also..one more thing I like about this camera is the LCD panel that can adjusted to your line of sight. The DSLR LCD window are built into the body of the camera... Thus, when shooting over a crowd of people you can visually see what your aiming at and equally so, when you set the camera on the ground you don't have to lay on your belly to see what the camera is focused on. So, if you say a ship mechanic and need to take a picture in a small space, this camera allow you the flexibility to focuse on the hard to reach subject.

Also the D70 doesn't have a movie mode.

Now go check out those other reviews!!

If you're looking to capture "The Decisive Moment" with the Nikon Coolpix 8400, STOP---DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!!! For that matter, carefully check any digicam or other camera with which you want to capture "action," because what you think you see, may not be what the camera has the ability to capture as an image.

Let me briefly explain where I'm coming from: I made my living as a field photojournalist for 40 years. By the time I retired out of the business I had probably created something like a million color and b&w film images. I owned and used mostly Nikon equipment all those years (although I sure liked working with Leica rangefinder cameras and short focal length lenses), starting with the original Nikon F SLR (which I still have) and finishing up with the N90S and probably ten different lenses of varying focal lengths. I like Nikon equipment a lot.

I decided to begin working with digital images last year. I was attracted to the Coolpix 8400 because the "spread" on the zoom lens was the 35mm camera equivalent of 24mm--85mm. When I worked with film I probably used my 24mm and 105mm Nikkors more than any others in my bag, so this little Coolpix beauty had just about what I was looking for in one package.

Let me say that while the problems with the viewfinder and shutter lag make this camera absolutely useless for editorial photojournalism, it is, nevertheless, a marvel of human ingenuity. For many other uses---such as taking pictures of fire hydrants or cows standing in a pasture (put another way, things that don't move), it works wonderfully well.

Seriously, I shot an assignment here in Tucson that was essentially architectual in nature. The images can only be described as superb (if I do say so myself). I worked only with the camera and a tripod on the shoot. Working inside I simply changed the light balance within the menu on the 8400 (which you can pretty much do on any digital camera these days), did not have to check the scene with a separate exposure meter, etc. Point being that with film I often carried a bunch of light balancing filters and sometimes a separate Gossen exposure meter and all sorts of lights to shoot an assignment. Even then, I'd sweat blood until I could get the processed film on a light table. Of course with digital, I (you) don't have to worry about any of that stuff. One can check the image immediately and know instantly if you're good to go.

Alas, the shutter lag on this, and many other digital cameras made these days, is the "downcheck" which makes me unable to recommend the 8400. There is also the delay in the electronic viewfinder to deal with. The combination of shutter and viewfinder lag make it absolutely impossible to capture an image, the precise composition of which lasts only a split-second. I have taken many good pictures of people working, "action" shots and the like, but it was only by taking large numbers of images of any given activity and then retaining the one or two that said what I intended that I achieved my purpose. Essentially, my shooting eye (which is pretty damned good) had nothing to with it. It's like a soldier trying to kill an enemy with a machine-gun---if he fires enough rounds, one of them is going to hit the other guy. Marksmanship has nothing to do with it. Same-same shooting with electronic viewfinders and shutter lag. If you shoot enough images, statistically you're probably going to get a good one. But it's not a very good way to do things.

So if you're looking to capture what Henri Cartier-Bresson (I'm not sure I've spelled his name correctly) so artfully described as "The Decisive Moment," look at a digital single-lens reflexes, or wait for improvements in digicams.

Update 3/06:

Well, after using this camera for 3 months I have to come back with the following feedback:

-it is heavier and bulkier than many 5mp cameras (does not fit in a standard pocket-size portable camera bag)

-sometimes people's lips come out BLACK or PURPLE in the pictures

-the shutter lag time is annoying (as someone reported above). I haven't yet figured out a setting where the camera will take one shot exactly when I press the button if I just took another shot within the last few seconds. So I get a few pictures of people with frozen smiles on their faces or miss some shots. Can anyone offer some advice for this sticky situation?

-other than that, I still love the camera great resolution and if you have the red-eye reduction on it works pretty well, battery is easy to recharge

Original review:

I purchased the Nikon Coolpix 8400 12/05

It was rated first in Advanced Compact Digital Cameras category by Consumer Reports 11/05

We got a big discount buying this camera through Amazon.com when there was a limited-time promotion

It was actually shipped by Ritz Camera

Comes with neck strap, battery and charger! Does not have built-in memory so you need to separately buy a compact flash card. A high-speed CF card would be a good idea. I would also recommend you buy an extra rechargeable battery and a camera case.

Per specs: "Coolpix 8400, lens cap, strap, USB cable, audio video cable, rechargeable Li-ion battery EN-EL7, battery charger MH-56, remote controller ML-L3, PictureProject CD-ROM"

I have changed the settings to take pictures in "Fine" resolution and they are running 1,600-2,500 KB in size. "Extra fine" mode is also available but I don't think I will need to use it unless taking a super-important photo.

We are upgrading from a Nikon Coolpix 5200 (the zoom button broke when I dropped it on the deck). The 8400 is black, not silver, and a bit larger/heavier. This digital camera is a big step up. The 8400 seems to have better red-eye correction and a good backlit mode. Some people have complained that on another Nikon camera the red-eye correction is automatic, whether you like it or not, however on the 8400 you do not need to worry about that because it is optional.

(Promotion) HooToo® HT-IP212 Outdoor Wireless Network Surveillance IP Camera, M-JPEG Video Format, 1/4' CMOS Sensor, Viewing Angle at 60°, 24 IR Illuminators for Night Vision of Larger Survey Area Even At Nights, Gmail/Hotmail Email Alerts and Scheduled Alarm Events, Cross Platform Support Such As Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc, User-Friendly Web Interface Easy Operation, Robust Design in SilverThe quality of the camera is great and it isn't too painful to setup. I have five Hoo-Too cameras around the house (inside and outside). I don't have Ethernet throughout the house, so the wi-fi is key.

Their customer service is awesome. I had one issue with a part and they handled it immediate and sent me a replacement without any hassle.

Consideration for Mac and iOS users: The software isn't very Mac or iOS friendly. The only browser that supports seeing all cameras at one time in a grid is IE (because it requires ActiveX...hence Windows only).

Wasn't expecting too much at this price point, but I was wrong. First off the casing is solid and looks well constructed, the software on the site and the instruction manual were in English and easy to follow. There are even video examples at the HooToo site. Only problem I had was that I needed to turn of Mac address filtering on my wireless router in order to get it to work wirelessly. If you have an iPhone be sure to get the app that goes with it so you can look at feeds from your phone. Email alerts are a nice feature-sending motion detection pictures that are better than expected.

Buy (Promotion) HooToo® HT-IP212 Outdoor Wireless Network Surveillance IP Camera, M-JPEG Video Format, Now

Shortly after delivery, this camera was up, installed, and fully operational in very little time.

Pros:

1. Camera does what it is advertised to do.

2. I'm able to access and configure it on my mac using the safari browser with no need for any additional software.

3. The camera's built in software can be set snap photos and email (or FTP) them upon a motion trigger.

Cons:

1. Mounting arm could be more sturdy, but it does get the job done.

2. Configuration software/menus used for camera settings are functional, but a bit arcane.

Other:

For those unfamiliar with CCTV camera lenses, the included 6mm is a bit more zoomed and narrower than other models with the wider 3.6mm lens like the HT-IP212F:

HooToo® HT-IP212F Outdoor Wired/Wireless Waterproof Network IP Camera, 1/4" CMOS Sensor, M-JPEG Video Format, Built-in 24-LED Illuminators (Night Vision Up To 20 Meters), Embedded IR Filter for Much Real Colors, FTP Image Upload, Motion Detection & Emai...

Get the one that best fits your needs. This camera (with the 6mm lens) is perfect for viewing an area from a distance or for viewing a limited area such as a doorway. It should be noted that after the cam was installed and operational, I had a quick email question for HooToo support, and they got back to me very quickly, during hours that I was not expecting a response (late night, weekend).

I've been wanting an outdoor IP cam to watch birds. This camera fit right into our Apple Airport network it was easily set up using Safari. It can't accept passwords with anything other than numbers & letters in them when joining the wireless network. I use Evocam software to serve streams to the internet which was easy using the 'Foscam' preset. I really like this sturdy camera the day and night images are great!

Do not buy if you intend to use it with a Mac. However, this is a fine item at an acceptable price for all you non-Macers and the company is cooperative and more.
