Lorex LW2401 Live Video Monitor System

Lorex LW2401 Live Video Monitor SystemI bought this monitor because of a friend referral. I also bought the Summer 3.5 Touch, and the Motorola MBP35 (3.5 screen). I originally bought the Summer Touch but wasn't 100% sold on it. That is why i purchased the other two.

First off, the good:

Screen Clarity Seemed better than the Summer and about the same as the Motorola.

Night Vision This monitor had the best vision at night of all of the monitors. Everything was much brighter and easier to see. (also listed in the Negatives later).

Battery life It seemed to get around 5 hours on a charge. About the same or a tad less than the Summer, but about 2 hours better than the Motorola.

Ability to record and save. I only played with this feature, but I thought it would be great to have if a nanny or babysitter was over and you could keep track of the actual happenings with your baby. Neither of the other two monitors had this feature.

Lullaby function I'm not sure how much this would actually be used, but I thought it was a nice feature to have. The Motorola also had this.

Night Light Again, not sure how much it would be used, but another nice feature. Neither of the other two monitors had this.

VIDEO STAYS ON when off of the charger. I thought this was a great feature because on the other monitors you have to keep pressing the video button after it automatically times out after about 2 minutes to be able to see the screen and what is going on. They do this as a power saving feature but it is more aggravating than anything. The Lorex stays on and makes it easy.

The ability to add other cameras and be able to view them all simultaneously. The other two monitors allow you to add cameras, but have to view one at a time. Again, not sure if most parents would ever need this, but it is a nice feature.

Now, with the BAD.

No Zoom feature on the Lorex. Both the Summer and Motorola have this ability. It has a pretty clear picture, but there are times where I want to zoom in on my child and could not.

No Panning feature on the Lorex. Both the Summer and Motorola have this. While this may be ok with some who just want to see a certain area of the crib, or don't mind leaving the camera in a fixed place, it could be an issue for others. I thought I could easily get past this, but I couldn't.

Audio When compared to the Summer, you practically had to lay your ear on the back of the monitor (where the speaker is) to be able to hear the child. The Summer picks up the swing going back and forth, and allows you to adjust the volume to hear much more than the Lorex.

The Talk function. If you put your mouth right on the microphone, it works ok. However, testing it with my wife and the Summer, she continuously said the Summer's sound quality on the other end was much better.

Audio Alerts. a great idea for a feature, but it randomly worked and was more irritating than anything.

The Auto Mute, and Scan features. While these are great features to have, they did not seem to work. They randomly chose when to turn on and it usually had to come from a loud noise, but sometimes chose not to even come on then. And YES, I did adjust the sensitivity on the side.

Skype while this is a GREAT selling point, it has its flaws. First, you cannot plug the monitor into a Mac computer to use this feature. Second, even when plugged into a PC, the video is so far behind and lacking once on Skype, it takes away the usefulness of the feature all together. Sometimes it would not even show movements that clearly happened.

Inability to connect the monitor to a TV or other video source. The Summer allows you to connect the monitor to a TV through RCA/mini usb so that you can view it on a larger screen if desired. The Lorex and Motorola do not.

The Night Vision. While stated as a positive earlier (which it is), it also has a slight negative. The LED's on the camera are red and clearly visible at night, whereas the ones for the other monitors are not. This may bother or alert some children/etc., and may not for others. It is just a point I thought I should mention.

After wanting to love this monitor and replace the Summer with it (already sent the Motorola back due to lack of technical support and inability to plug into another video source), I am afraid I am going to have to send the Lorex back as well. I wish someone would take the good parts of each of these monitors and combine them, but as of now, they have not. For now, we are sticking with the Summer monitor because it had the least negatives of all 3. I think the main reason I wanted something instead of the Summer monitor is because they specialize in baby clothes, products, etc. Motorola and Lorex specialize in communications and surveillance, therefore I figured there products would be better. I was mistaken.

My husband and I have been on an aggressive search for the perfect Baby Video Monitor that suits the needs of our growing family. After reading countless product reviews, purchasing and returning 4 other systems, we started to think that what we wanted did not exist and then we tried the Lorex LW 2401 Live Video Monitor System it seems to have everything we want!

Pros:

* Expandable Supports up to 4 cameras

* VOX (Voice Activation) Lorex calls this feature "Scan". The video AND sound go into a power saving mode, the cameras scan

the rooms for noises and if there is a noise detected, the video and audio is activated. This is a huge feature for my family

and was the reason why we returned all of the other systems we tried. In all other systems we tried the VOX feature could only

work on one camera / baby at a time. Which was just silly to us we wanted to hear either baby if one of them made a noise,

not just one!

* Mute! This is a huge plus for me. I am such a light sleeper that on other systems the lowest setting is still too loud for me

* Noise Indicator light (on the left side) key for when the unit is on mute

* Low battery indicator flashes on the screen! Not an annoying beep

* Monitor has a stand (this model has a stand AND a docking station for charging an extra bonus)

Bonuses:

* Multiple options for viewing your little ones:

-Single camera, sequence (rotates between cameras every 6 seconds), Quad mode (views all cameras at the same time)

-Video and sound on at all times

-Video screen off, but sound on

-Video screen on and sounds off (Auto mute)

* Auto Mute after a period with no noise, auto mute is activated to eliminate white noise

* Sleek design

* Large screen (3.5")

* Volume buttons are on the front of the monitor unit (not in a menu)

* Two way talk feature

* Temperature gauge

* Date and time on screen

Cons:

* "Video" button turns on / off once pressed, but doesn't seem to work in Scan mode. Not sure why that would be

* Doesn't tilt, pan, zoom like some other units in the price range but not a deal breaker for me because it has so much of

everything else we need

Features I have not tried and probably won't use:

* Capture, store & share with microSD recording

* Remotely view from anywhere through Skype

* Alerts

* Alarms

This monitor is great except for one problem. The microphone is not great at picking up soft sounds, like a baby's breathing. Exasperating the issue it auto mutes to avoid ambient noise when there aren't loud sounds. There is a setting that supposedly controls this auto muting, but no matter what value we set it to it still auto muted. For a young infant often what you want a monitor to do is to allow you to hear that the baby is breathing which this monitor doesn't allow for. It would be a great monitor for an older infant or younger toddler because it has a lot of great features, the picture quality is pretty good, and the form factor and battery life are both great.

The visual coverage and night vision is great but the audio is very distorted. A good overall value if audio isn't the prime issue.

It's not one of those Chinese fakes (though it was made in China too). Lorex is known for it's cameras and this one is not an exception. One bad thing for me is about servicing and spare parts as there's no such support available in my country.

The 4 stars are awarded for it's rugged and quality design (we dropped the monitor for several times, yet no errors) and for the night vision. However, the colour contrast is not too good and the camera doesn't zoom or tilt and the one that does costs expensive.

One word, good equipment to have and you can attach more cameras. The sound transmission is also good.

Haven't used it at far range or through Skype yet.

Panasonic PVGS15 MiniDV Compact Digital Camcorder w/24x Optical Zoom

Panasonic PVGS15 MiniDV Compact Digital Camcorder w/24x Optical ZoomThis is the second Panasonic camcorder that I have bought in the last 4 years and my first MiniDV camcorder. I was trying to choose between the Sony DCR-HC20 and this model. Both retail for the same price and there were some reasons I chose this one over the Sony:

1. This camcorder has 24x zoom while the Sony has only a 10x zoom.

2. There were many reviews about the problems with the Sony's touch screen especially when viewing it outside in broad daylight.

3. I have read some reviews that the included software with the Sony is very difficult to use and install.

4. The Sony camcorder has no photoshot button or memory card, the Panasonic has both. The Panasonic photoshot allows you to capture low-res (640x480) digital still pictures with the touch of a button.

5. The viewfinder on the Sony is Black and White; the Panasonic has a color viewfinder.

6. The Sony has an included 1-hour battery. This model has a 3-hour battery included instead.

It was for these 6 reasons I went with the Panasonic instead of the Sony. After using the camcorder now for 2 weeks I have found out some drawbacks that I previously did not know about:

1. The included software for the Panasonic can only be used to edit STILL images NOT movie images. If you want to edit the movie images you have to buy additional software and a firewire cable. Also be careful if you have Windows 2000 because the optional Panasonic movie editing software is not compatible with Win2K.

2. The Panasonic has no in-camera movie editing capabilities. You can dub the movie to VHS tape but that is about it. You cannot copy a VHS or VHS-C to MiniDV by using this camera as you can with the Sony model. Also, the Sony camera is able to control most VCRs in order to make editing easier if you don't have a PC.

3. The supplied USB cable that comes with the Sony allows you to stream the movie onto a PC whereas the USB cable that comes with the Panasonic cannot do this. The Panasonic USB cable only allows you to copy the STILL images from the SD card or a STILL movie image, NOT the movie itself. With the Panasonic if I wanted to copy the movie to my PC and then burn a Video CD, for example, I would have to buy a firewire cable, and additional software. On the other hand, right out of the box the Sony can do this with the INCLUDED software and the included USB cable.

4. The supposed Panasonic 1.3 second "Quick Start" actually keeps the camera in "Standby" mode and uses quite a lot of battery power. I actually had this mode on for 4 hours and when I finally used the camera I was only able to shoot for 18 minutes before changing batteries. Be careful using this. In any case the camcorder comes on rather quickly without it.

Other than the 4 reasons mentioned above the Panasonic does have a lot of nice features such as the 24x zoom, the zoom mic, the MagicPix function, wind noise reduction and a Soft Skin Mode. I would say that overall I am pleased with the picture quality and sound of the movies I have made with this camera. For the price of this camcorder I would say it is well worth the money, provided you can live without the 4 things I have mentioned previously. If you are willing to spend an extra $100 you could buy decent Movie Editing software and a firewire cable, thus closing the gap on the two camcorders. Although, if you were going to spend another $100 anyway you could buy a Sony DCR-HC30 which has most of the features the HC20 lacks, such as digital still images and a color viewfinder; it still has a 10x zoom, but no camcorder is perfect, right?

This is the first camcorder I have bought in 10 yrs my Sony 8mm finally died. I have had the camera about 1 month and have shot in various conditions and settings. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase, and have only a few nitpicky wishes. I don't intend for this to be a long expert review, just my impressions to help you shop. Some comments:

VALUE: This is a great buy for price/performance. I think I got more than I paid for. I love features but I'm not rich enough to pay for perfection. I had planned on the $400-$600 range based on reviews, hands-on at Sears, etc. Sony has the night-shot (which I really would have liked) but I didn't like the touch screen LCD. Canon 65/75/85 units did not seem as user-friendly to me.

Zoom: The 24x optical is SPECTACULAR. Turn the digital zoom off unless you are on a tripod and have very good full-spectrum lighting, then only 50x. Hard to hold still at 20x and above, even with stabilization. The variable speed zoom control is easy to use and easy to control the speed.

Sound: Built-in zoom mic picked up chirping of little birds over the sound of waves at the beach. Little to no motor noise. If you are shooting and talking, your voice is somewhat muddled. I'm sure an ext. mic would improve sound.

Picture: Colors seem very true to my non-expert eyes with default settings. Better (not just brighter) light makes better video. In imperfect outdoor light, colors not very saturated using auto WB. I will try some adjustments for clouds/fog or filtered sun. Auto WB mode is pretty good indoors, incandescent or flourescent. LED light is useful only within 4-5 ft depending on ambient light. There are 2 LED light modes, one with slower shutter and one with normal. LED can also be used with MagicPix, but I don't think it would help much. MagicPix is for very slow scenes in low light, although zooming or motion may produce interesting psychadelic effects.

Controls: The new model no longer has the menu wheel; a menu button is placed inside the viewfinder door. You use a 5-key directional pad (which doubles as the VCR control) to navigate menus. Simple enough, but defintely a 2-handed task now you cannot hold still enough to change menu options while filming. There is no one-button toggle to show/hide the date in your recorded video. Other than that, controls are intuitive and relatively simple. Zoom control is great. During VCR playback, zoom button controls volume from the tiny (but adequate) speaker. When playback is paused, zoom button acts as a single-frame jog wheel (nice feature, but slow). VCR searching is too fast for my taste, but still usable. In recording mode, there is a handy "check" button to review the last 2-3 seconds of video.

Photos: 640x480 good only for e-mail or monitor, otherwise worthless to me except in an emergency. The included 8mb SD card holds roughly 45 pix in fine mode. You can snap a photo live or from already-recorded scenes.

Ease of use: My wife is technophobic, so if she can operate it, it passes the test. She shot a few minutes of video using all automatic options and seems comfortable with it. I can fiddle with options when I choose, or shoot in auto if I want. Most people will be fine operating 1-handed. I was most comfortable using 2 hands, right hand close to right shoulder to minimize bending wrist backward. Boot-up time is very fast, 3-4 seconds without using quick-start feature,

Fintie Micro HDMI (Type D) to HDMI (Type A) Cable For Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Inch Tablet / Kindle

Fintie Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable For Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Inch Tablet / Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Inch / Nexus 10 - 6 Feet BlackI have had this cable only a few days but I expect it to keep on working. What was the pleasant surprise, that once the Kindle Fire HD is hooked up to the TV and a movie is selected it right away plays both on the Kindle and on the TV. With my laptop I always have to manually move the screen over to the TV and at times get confused which way I need to drag my cursor or the screen to get it to show up on the TV.

Works great and won't break the bank, nothing else to ask for. The cable tie is also a nice addition.

Premium Flex Skater Dolly Stabilizer Table Top Slider for DSLR Camera WYD150

Premium Flex Skater Dolly Stabilizer Table Top Slider for DSLR Camera WYD150This works great, smooth as glass, if you mount your dslr to it using a rigid mono stem. If you mount a dslr to this using an jointed piece, the camera will be too heavy and your footage will have a lot of bouncing in it.

If you want to make it even better, get two pieces of shelving mounters from home depot and drill them to a six foot long piece of finished poplar. Then you'll have a sort of rail system for it that you can put on rough surfaces or mount on a couple light stands.

I've added a photo to show the dolly system I built!

Excellent, inexpensive slider! I got the one with the black/clear wheels which makes my production look more professional. I had dreaded getting the one with blue wheels, because I would've at that point replaced the wheels.

The rolling action is smooth! Glides across a table top easily, even with a heavy weight on it like a DSLR and lens setup.

The adjustments were easy to track around whatever object you are filming. The wing-nuts on the axles are easy to adjust. I will say that the pivot-markings on the base plate are sort of useless and aren't alighted perfectly.

And now on to the gripes.

1) This is a small unit. No known DSLR will fit on this unit right out of the box. Most Camcorders will not fit on this unit out of the box. The wheels are too close together. Very short wheelbase inhibits mounting flush with the mounting plate (the most stable way to mount, of course). You will need a spacer, quick dismount, ball-head, magic arm or something else to give your camera enough clearance away from the wheels.

2) The 1/4" bolt for mounting your camera equipment requires an allen wrench to remove and turn to mount your stuff. This makes it inconvenient to change out accessories. It has a notched surface for "finger turning", but the screw was really tight in the hole making it almost impossible to mount correctly the first time.

3) My mounting bracket is slightly bent, making two wheels on the diagonal corners up in the air. This does give some slight wobble issues, but nothing the in-lens stabilization cannot correct.

These last three things are sort of petty of me, which is why they only got one star knocked off. But this is a great roller for what it is!

Buy Premium Flex Skater Dolly Stabilizer Table Top Slider for DSLR Camera WYD150 Now

To mount my DSLR, I purcahsed the EzFoto Arca Swiss Type Compatible Ball Head, with Quick Release Plate. It was about 30 bucks, and is fantastic for this dolly. You will not need any additional parts to get going.

The dolly is smooth, and is well constructed. I have no complaints about the build or function, and have been having a lot of fun making slide shots.

Please know that the dolly does exaggerate any irregularities on the surface that it rolls on while shooting. For example, I shot some basketball players from the gym floor. Dust and debris from the floor quickly accumulated on the rubber wheels and created jitter while rolling. I was surprised at how problematic this was, and due to the "sticky" nature of the rollerblade type wheels, getting and keeping them clean was a challenge. Later I shot from an old science table with lots of irregularities on the surface (scratches and nicks). Again problems, although not as bad. But when rolling on a smooth clean surface the dolly is wonderful. I have begun carting around a table to use as part of the mount.

I guess if was really picky, I'd want the way that the axles are mounted to the plate to be better. They have tightening screws, which allow you to change the angle for arced paths. This is a key feature, but the actual screws are not that great. A rubber or plastic washer would improving things here, and I suspect I'll be adding one to each axle soon.

Very pleased over all especially for the price.

UPDATE: I bought 4 nylon washers (1/4 inch hole). I put them on either side of the axle bolts, and now the tightening screws sit much nicer. I remain very pleased with the dolly. The ball head that I bough is key. Great value great mount.

Read Best Reviews of Premium Flex Skater Dolly Stabilizer Table Top Slider for DSLR Camera WYD150 Here

I found this dolly to be well made but there are a few gripes:

1 it's small. I planned to use it with a DSLR with a battery grip (Nikon D7000). This camera will not fit directly onto the dolly unless you use a friction arm or a ball head or something of the sort.

2 the markings, while there, are almost useless. Since there are no numbers, you have to visually identify that you're sort of at the same marking on both axles in order to do a proper setup for a circular move. It's not impossible, but less than precise. The other problem here is that the axles are hexagonal and thus the marking are sort of under and less than visible you can see this in the photos of the item.

3 prone to irregular movement due to small size. Just like a car with a small wheel base, small disturbance in the surface on which this rolls will be amplified. Again, usually these kinds of dollies are used on a smooth surface, but something like a hardwood floor might be enough to upset it due to the joints between the boards.

4 another reviewer mentioned this if using a friction arm with a heavy camera, there is a LOT of shake when moving. I suppose this is not a problem with this specific dolly but something to think about.

I tried this dolly with a Canon S110 (point and shoot) and the results were a lot better. This dolly is made for lighter cameras. I would imagine 4/3's sensor devices with smaller lenses will be fine also, and in a pinch you can make it work with a dslr by having a steady hand and supporting the camera to eliminate shake but personally, I'll be trying a larger unit to see if it resolves some of these issues.

UPDATE:

I ended up purchasing the larger version (Large Table Flex Dolly Video Stabilization System for DSLR Cameras & Camcorders) of this dolly and it's MUCH better (see picture and review in the link). If you have a DSLR or a heavier/bigger rig, get the large or extra-large version.

Want Premium Flex Skater Dolly Stabilizer Table Top Slider for DSLR Camera WYD150 Discount?

Received our dolly today. Two things disappointed me because they weren't advertised correctly.

First, the picture for this item clearly shows angle markings on the base plate, so as to accurately place both axels for a uniform curve. Our model does not have angle markings. This was something we were looking for, as a feature.

Second, the center screw post is not sized to receive a tripod head. It is sized as though it were a quick-release plate. The camera must be mounted directly to the base plate. This is not advertised on the item page, or we would have chosen another model.

The construction is fine, wheels work well, etc. These limitations may prove enough for me to return this one and look for another model.

Pico Flex Dolly ONLY Digital Dslr Skater Camera Dolly Slider Table Top Dolly Kit By Photography and

Pico Flex Dolly ONLY Digital Dslr Skater Camera Dolly Slider Table Top Dolly Kit By Photography and CinemaThis is an absolutely brilliant little kit for taking stable moving video. Think of a 360 product shot or maybe following a kitten across the floor. There are plenty of videos out there demonstrating how it works and how to use it. I thought I'd add my own observations.

This 'kit' comes with the dolly, a friction arm, a clip, and a nifty carrying case.

All of the components seem to be pretty high quality and the dolly itself is relatively heavy (for such a small device) and solid.

The front and rear axles can be rotated to make it easy to setup circular shots for a wide range of circumferences. There is a 1/4"-20 mounting screw in the center and two threaded near each axle.

The short friction arm comes with a hot shoe adapter and 1/4-20" screws on each end. One of the features that I found to be remarkable is the single knob that is use to loosen and and tighten all three joints together

The Shark Clip is a small clip that screws onto one of the ends of the friction arm and can easily hold a small camera or iPhone without having to bother with screwing/unscrewing the device from the tripod mount

Highly recommended. It might seem expensive but the alternatives are even more expensive. You can always go the DIY route but for those of who'd rather spend the time shooting video this is a great option.

Rock solid little dolly, smooth in-line skate wheels, perfect little case. It works great with a pocket camera shooting video, as long as you only truck (move left and right, perpendicular to the subject) with it, so that the subject remains at a (nearly) constant distance from the camera (or if you go around a subject, again, where it remains at the same distance from the camera). If you actually try to dolly with it (move towards or away from the subject) then you will lose focus. For real SLRs that have some sort of focus tracking, this is not a problem, but it is something you should be aware of, especially since the camera will not always focus on what you expect it to. This is not a shortcoming of the Pico Flex, it's physics getting in the way.

Buy Pico Flex Dolly ONLY Digital Dslr Skater Camera Dolly Slider Table Top Dolly Kit By Photography and Now

I bought the Pico Flex dolly specifically for a job that could make use of low angle dolly shots. Once I pulled this guy out for the shots I had in mind both my client and her clients were impressed with the "toys" I had at my disposal. Ultimately, the resulting shots were made possible using the Pico Flex. I utilized a tilting head attached to the Pico, there are three threaded ports on top that allow you to add other attachments for a microphone, light, additional camera, etc. Good for table tops and small product close ups, low angle shots, etc. I have an old DVX100 and cannot imagine mounting a large camera to the Pico, I used a DSLR and this worked perfectly.

I am sure a lot of people have have gotten really great units but I got a dud. The frame wasn't square so 2 wheels didn't touch the ground so the wheels could just spin without moving the cart (yes the surface was level), naturally this became an issues for making smooth shots as wheels would role then skip then role. Also the rubber that the wheels are made out of must be 2 pieces smelted into one because my wheels had some rubber remains down the center which acted as little rubber tags that caused the wheels to have a little Bump in em. So for me I returned it and will try a different brand.

Avermedia NV5000 120 Frames Per Second Video Capture Card with Surveillance Software

Avermedia NV5000 120 Frames Per Second Video Capture Card with Surveillance SoftwareI bought this card after a terrible experience with the NV3000. I am writing this review to state that, contrary to my review on the NV3000, this card really does what it says. It will produce a true 30fps on each channel at 740X480 resolution with the highest available video quality setting.

The software for the NV5000 is the same as the NV3000, and I like it. After using for a while, I find it to be easy and quite polished.

IF you are thinking about putting together a surveillance system around this card, you should realize that this card is fairly picky about the hardware. For the most part, it is compatible with Intel chipsets only, and only older ones at that. It won't work with my new Sandy Bridge setup. It won't work with anything with a VIA chipset, which means pretty much all of AMD products. There is a document available from Avermedia that details the compatible hardware that has been tested. It is a grab-bag of motherboards and chipsets from a handful of different companies, but the most recent motherboards that they support are those that first came out to support the Pentium D series. Maybe it will work with other motherboards, or maybe not. This is why it doesn't get the whole 5 stars. My plan of running my DVR on older motherboards I had laying around is not panning out because none of them are compatible.

As I also discussed in my NV3000 review, the Avermedia website is horrible. You will never find what you are looking for there. Fortunately, I found another surveillance website that had links to the Avermedia software and docs. If you search around for it, you'll probably find it too.

I bought this card to capture feeds from two surveillance cameras. Setup was straightforward even though the software and install is a little dated. The card needs to be installed into the PC and was detected and setup without any issues.

I was surprised by the colors and accuracy of the video footage. In general card seems to do well and the software advanced features like email alerts etc. work well. Only gripe is that despite reducing motion sensitivity to a minimum and blocking out areas of the video that don't need monitoring the frequency of email alerts is significant.

Outside of that very happy with this purchase.

Buy Avermedia NV5000 120 Frames Per Second Video Capture Card with Surveillance Software Now

FYI: To configure remote viewing I found the following FAQ at"

1. Make sure the DVR system is connected to the network and able to connect to the internet.

2. Go into the NV software.

3. Click on Setup, then Network.

4. Enable the cameras to make them viewable over the internet.

5. Remember the Server IP and remote console Port that is currently being used.

6. Remember the Web Viewer Port. ( Default is 80, but you can change this if your network has any restrictions on ports.)

7. Click Ok, then OK again

8. In order for PCs to access your DVR, the Network option must be enabled. Click on the Network button shown on the window. The button should change color, which will indicate that the option has been turned on."

The card has worked fine for over a year on several evolutions of mother boards and windows op. systems. When you get the instillation CD for the Avermedia DVR software copy the installation code as future software revisions require the original code. The software has been updated twice since I purchase the card...

Precision Design EW-83J Lens Hood for Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens with UV Filter + Accesso

Precision Design EW-83J Lens Hood for Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens with UV Filter + Accessory Kitall items arrived in good order, no complaints, good package for the price, althought u might not need so many things, but for long term can always be useful for the price.

I actually bought this for a Canon 17-40 f/4 L lens, for use on a 40D. L series glass is made for full-frame shots, and given the 40D has a APS-C 1.6 factor sensor, the stock hood doesn't work...REALLY doesn't work. This one does NOT vignette at 17mm, fits right snug (I've been living in The South too damn long...), and even though it doesn't have the fuzzy fluffy flocking crap on the inside of the barrel like the Canon EW-83J does, it keeps flare controlled like it should.

Anyone ever compare this to the Canon? I'd love to know.

Toshiba IK-65WDA Analog Camera, 520 TV Lines, 24V AC and 12V DC, Wide Dynamic

Toshiba IK-65WDA Analog Camera, 520 TV Lines, 24V AC and 12V DC, Wide DynamicI purchased this camera along with two of the Toshiba IK-6420A Analog Camera, 540 TV Lines, 24V AC and 12V DC cameras (non-Wide Dynamic). The 65WDA is 2x the cost, but its ability to resolve detail in poor lighting is excellent. Where the other cameras go muddy and dark, the extra sensitivity of the 65's sensors provided noise-free detail even in dark areas that may contain a bright point (spotlight in operation). For well-lit environments, you don't need this. But if excellent, non-IR, low-light performance is what you want, this is an excellent 12VDC/24VAC auto-switching SD camera.
