Swift Hitch SH02 Portable Wireless Camera System

Swift Hitch SH02 Portable Wireless Camera SystemI've only used this twice so far and both times it has proven to be a real treat to have, as I didn't need the wife's help to get our trailer hooked up to the truck. I was able to back up and stop in the perfect spot the very first time. No more in and out, in and out, move an inch to the left, no the other left and so on. Anybody that has a trailer knows exactly what I'm saying. It was easy to charge both units, easy to set up and very easy to use. The magnet works great and I know I'll use the suction cups on the back of our trailer sooner or later. My only bit of disapointment was trying to see the screen when it is really sunny outside, as the brightness seems to make the actual picture very, very light gray and tough to see the screen clearly. I've not yet used it in the dark, but I'm sure it will be great there. I'm really glad I went with the SH02 model rather than the SH01, as the carry case with the foam protection around each piece is great, with all the charging cords and everything needed to use this set-up was in there, also I wanted the suction cup set-up as well. In my opinion, it was a good deal for the price!

PLEASE READ THE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ATTACHED TO THIS REVIEW, BEYOND MY ORIGINAL POSTING.

We bought the kit that included the suction cups which are needed for vehicles with fiberglass hatches, tail gates, etc. The suction cups are connected to a triangle metal plate which substitutes a metal plate for the camera unit to stick to. The suction cup adapter fell off the glass window of a Tahoe. We then wet the suction cups with basically the same result. The magnetic base camera unit has a tendency to slide on all metal surfaces that I tried. This is not good.... The actual magnet in the base of the unit is recessed ever so slightly so that actual metal to magnet contact is not achieved. The magnetic "force" causes some magnetic field to hold it in place but the vibrations from backing up the car cause it to slide. In other words, the magnet is not strong enough to hold it in place. I called the manufacturing company and they had no helpful suggestions. I am going to try and remove the magnet and install a thin spacer to raise the actual magnet above the camera's metal base. That way, the actual magnet should make contact with a metal surface. The recession in the base is very minimal, but just enough to weaken the sticking power of the magnet. I am not exactly sure how I am going to fix the suction cup issue.

This item is a nice piece of kit but has 2 important drawbacks: its very difficult to see the screen in the typical bright sunlight that many times I have to hitch; and the screen is too small to see dark detail. Part of the problem is that if the hitch itself is in shadow, the camera light sensor darkens the image to compensate for the area its receiving thus making the ball or the bar (Hensley hitch)impossible to discern. You can adjust the camera view but there are just so many places on which you can mount the camera that will also accommodate a sight angle that eliminates bright areas so that the hitch is viewable.

The camera works well and my husband hitched the boat by himself on the first try.

He also uses the camera when he works on the car. In the past, he would use a flashlight and a mirror to look for items he couln't see under the hood. Now he uses the camera and can also do this at night since the camera operates well in the dark. The camera is used to look up into the fireplace, under the house, in the attic and for lost toys under the bed and couches.I recomend this to everyone.

About half the price of factory option for a backup camera. Plus with the 10h li battery life of this second generation (SH02) camera, I can use it for wireless nighttime security camera of my campsite when camping in the popup. Hey raccoon, get away from that ice chest!. Can move the camera to the back of trailer to assist in backing into campsite as well. Oh, the included custom foam cut case is top quality, too.

Manfrotto MVH500AH Flat Base Pro Fluid Head (Black)

Manfrotto MVH500AH Flat Base Pro Fluid HeadI bought this product mainly to go with the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler, But trying it out with ProAms Heavy Duty tripod it was awesome. This thing is smooth and stops when you stops, its not like the other cheap fluid heads where you let go and it pans a little more before it stops. The locking and where everything is place is good unless you are a lefty and don't like that all the switches are on the left hand side. The way you mount the quick release plate on the head is awesome ! way easy too, but the screw that you pull down and to lock it is a little too small... i feel like its going to break.

but other then that this is a fine piece of gear you should add on to what you own.

Great product, well made and well worth the money. The only thing is it's a little bigger than I expected, I have the 701 hdv head as well which I was going to replace with this but it's a bit bigger.

Off to Iceland soon and will be using this to film our holiday.

Panasonic SVAV25 2MP D-Snap Multi Audio/Video Device

Panasonic SVAV25 2MP D-Snap Multi Audio/Video DeviceThis product simply tries to do too much and fails at doing a good job at anything. I rarely return items unless they're really unsatisfactory, but this went back.

My requirements werent huge...we just had a baby and I wanted something small, solid state, and simple to take candid photos and video of the baby without lugging around a regular camcorder. As long as the video and sound were halfway decent enough...something upstream of "what the heck is that?!?", I'd have been happy.

The video even in the extra fine mode is grainy and jerky. The sound accompanying the video is muddy. The photos taken if taken up close are washed out white by the flash.

You MUST use the included clunky panasonic crippleware to copy the movies from the device or the sound on them doesnt work. Inexplicably. You can in fact see the device as a separate hard disk, and play movies, but it sounds like you're underwater and someone above water is talking to you. You can convert the movie files to even crappier quality formats suitable for showing your friends and relatives how technically inept you are.

By the way, if you indeed use the barely acceptable 'extra fine' mode, the included 8MB card can record all of 20 seconds of video. In the 'extra fine' mode, regular mpeg4 codecs will not recognize the file and you have to install a panasonic provided codec that I was only able to find on the company's japanese web site. Going to the regular US site and choosing the product led me to a promising looking page of downloads, manuals and so forth. Choosing any link takes you to valuable information about hair dryers and other sundry products.

Once your friends and relatives manage to download the 4.7MB codec, they can then view your handiwork.

In order to copy mp3 files to it, you also MUST use the included s/w which requires a serial # thats printed on the cd's paper case. Lose that, and you're SOL. I found whole forums dedicated to people bemoaning the fact that they've lost their serial number and when going to load the s/w on a new machine, couldnt do so.

The unit plagued me with "Check Card!" at various times when trying to record video or take still shots. When it did this I had to eject the SD card, wait a few seconds, then reinsert it. All was then well.

I didnt try the voice recording/playback area. I was afraid of something really, really bad happening.

Here's where its going to be good for you. You only have a couple of hundred bucks, you need something thats pocket sized, you need some vaguely recognizable video quality in full daylight and dont need to know what people are saying during the video, and/or you're taking some photos from a long enough distance (more than 2-3') where the flash wont wash them out. And you dont mind loading a bunch of proprietary s/w onto your machine.

Being my first digital camera, I was impressed by all the features available in a gadget the size of a credit card. Although the pictures/video may look a bit blurry on the screen, they came out perfectly when uploaded to my computer.

However, the one thing that killed it for me was the size and, more importantly, design. I found it somewhat uncomfortable to take pictures what with the location of the buttons and all. There is one located adjacent to the screen (when you open it up) and a button on the side, which I thought was much more convenient. I also didn't like how it automatically returned to the beginning of the photoalbum whenever you would delete a picture or simply choose to return to the page last viewed.

This is a WONDERFUL camera for putting in your pocket and spontaneous use (although, it could be a bit quicker in start up). My camera survived a month-long trip to Europe as well as several local trips around town. If you want convenience, this is your best bet. If you have large hands, though (no joking!) or need some room to move your fingers, you'll find the design too stuffy for your liking.

This is an interesting and good all in one gadget. Fits in your pocket and easily you have a digital camera, voice recorder, mp3 player and even a camcorder (but don't expect great quality images!!!)... The picture (2MP) quality is just ok, but if you want more, you should buy na SLR camera. This is a convenient pocket sized camera that goes everywhere! Take a picture and improve it later at your PC (reducing noise, color balance, etc). As a camcorder, it's a good equipment to produce internet videos... But don't move it so fast (blur easily!)... the images will not be sharp enought! If you have an extra SD card (at least 256 MB), you will enjoy 4 hours of good sound quality. The supplied earphones are good enough but don't expect an IPOD overall quality! So, if you want an interesting all in one gadget, this Panasonic could be your choice!

I have had this device for about a year now and I have been happy, for the most part, with it's performance. Everybody wants to know what it is and so forth. It's so small and mobile, makes for easy travel. On top of that it is surprisingly very durable. The only drawbacks I'd like to note for you are the zoom is not very powerful and the pics when taken in zoom function are not crisp. Additionally the software that is needed to run the product through my computer is nothing to brag about. Actually it slows the rest of the computer down so much at times it will lock my system up. Overall I do recommend to all the purchase of this model and for the price it's a fair deal.

The battery lasts long and it's been working good for over a year with no problems. It's a gadget guys' dream.

Kanex iAdapt HDMI

Kanex iAdapt HDMII bought this to hook up my Macbook Pro to a 46" LCD TV we purchased. I read the reviews and figured I would give it a try. When it arrived, I hooked it up straight to my Mac, and got only a blue screen. I tinkered around for a while and got frustrated. I watched a couple you tube videos, and followed the steps...but no dice. I ended up switching my hdmi cable, and noticed that it was a cable issue, not the adapter. I had tried using an really old hdmi cable that came with my Direct TV box that I never used. Apparently it is not capable of the signal type being sent, and instead just showed a blue screen. With the new cable the picture is perfect, and it is an extremely inexpensive way to hook your Mac up to a TV for web browsing or a slide show. I would have bought a while ago if I would have known!

Do the job, works fine, great picture and video exporting to my Sanyo projector. Crisp accurate colors, fast video, all that I expected for my 17 inch Macbookpro.

Don't lock like original apple accessory pure white, but it run very well and with fantastic quality results, clear, vibrant images with out compromise. No degradation, no loss quality and performance. This is the perfect accessory. I love it and buy APG again and again...

I love sharing pictures/videos with my family, so it is nice when I go home to my parents house to be able to put up the screen on their flat panel TV so I can share pictures, video, watch netflix, or youtube random stuff during parties. I also have an hdmi cable in my room that goes is wired around the room to the side of my bed so i can connect my tv to my flat panel on the wall and use it for netfli x and such. All that being said, this adapter works perfectly for all of that....for about 5 months. I'm on my 2nd of these very same adapters and all of them have lasted me from 4months-11months, but they all start getting the same problem: begin getting touchy with the connection, if you bump it the audio will drop out, or it will just stop recognizing your tv altogether. This would be an amazing product at a great price but since I am in a situation where I am thinking about buying my 3rd adapter in 2 years I may have to reconsider my choice.

I had little green pixels/static all over the place when I was going in 1080p from my 13" MacBook Pro. Got a new adapter that also does audio and was smaller, and that fixed the issue. Would never, ever, ever buy again.

This is the third adapter like this that we've tried. We got the previous two from a different company, and both went bad within a couple weeks. So far, this one seems to be holding up great. Only time will tell I suppose! :-)

WiFi Baby (2012 Version -1st Gen) - iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, PC Baby Monitor. Wireless Video, Au

WiFi Baby - iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, PC Baby Monitor. Wireless Video, Audio, Alerts. Anywhere.I was able to setup the camera on my home wifi network following the instructions that came in the box with very little trouble. It was when I tried to set up the camera for external viewing that I ran into issues. After giving it a go myself I caved and contacted customer service. I expected the worst and was actually completely blown away by their service. I emailed them just last night at 11pm and received an email back this morning. Gary setup an appointment with me tonight. You read that right, the same day, AND they work nights and weekends to accommodate their customers!! And he called me at the precise time that we agreed to. No offense to my Indian friends, but Gary is definitely American (as far as I can tell haha), is super nice, and is very patient. Within a half an hour, on the phone and with the screen sharing, he had everything working. THEN he sent me an email summarizing everything he showed me and all my settings. Are you kidding me? For the customer service alone, this company deserves more business! That is VERY rare these days. And the only reason I had trouble with setup was I was attempting to port forward on my Apple airport instead of my Verizon router. Otherwise the setup for everyone else should be a breeze. If not just contact Gary and experience what real customer service should be like (someone listening at Verizon, Comcast, AT&T...?), serious.

As for the product, the camera works great, the night vision is very clear, and audio is very good. I have only used it on wifi for a few hours so we'll see how well it holds up. Baby isn't coming until January so I'll spy on the dog until then. I downloaded the baby monitor app on iPhone and iPad and they work great. Only wish the app were cheaper, but I'm fine with that.

What really sold me was the use of the wifi network, so no interference, and external viewing, because my parents are on the other side of the country. With everything finally setup the way I want it, I'm a very happy customer.

Oh, and you can always get a slight discount if you buy direct from their website by purchasing 2 wifi babies. I split it with my neighbor who is also pregnant. Highly recommend this product. That is all

I am very tech savvy, but have spent over 40+ hours with technical support trying to get this to work properly. Yes, their tech support has tried and made some progress but it still doesn't work after all the effort. I have had to purchase additional devices for my home network and completely reconfigure it several times and have nothing to show for it. I just want a baby monitor and not a second career as a network engineer.

I would have returned it, but it was given as a gift. Read the fine print before you purchase, WiFi Baby will not accept returns after 30 days. Unfortunately someone purchased this more than 30 days before gifting it to me, so I am stuck with it.

The product description is VERY MISLEADING if not completely false. First of all, the service you purchase only works from a PC or MAC. You must purchase the iPhone / iPad app separately. That's right, you are stuck in front of a desktop or must carry around a laptop unless you shell out a couple more dollars to buy a third-party piece of software to use with your smart phone. The 'anywhere' access is misleading. They require you to use a third party DDNS service, which they do not own or support. You can choose to use free DDNS hosting sites, which may not have any guaranteed reliability, or pay again for another service.

You are looking at $250 for the WiFI baby (which is really just a $150 Y-Cam with the WiFi Baby logo on it), plus ~$60 for the network extender since the camera has such limited range, plus $12 for the app to use your smart phone, plus way too much time configuring and debugging your network config, plus a couple of calls to your ISP to make sure they will allow DDNS and port forwarding to work, which all adds to one humongous waste of time since you still don't have a working video monitor at the end of it.

Update:

After several more hours of testing, I am able to get a connection on an iPad about 75% of the time and about 25% of the time on an iPhone. I am trying to contact the software vendor to diagnose the issue since WiFi Baby tech support will not respond to me anymore.

I have since contacted Tech Support with online 'tickets' about 5 times and no one will respond to me. After many calls, I was able to finally speak to a person, who told me my only option was to submit help tickets online and didn't really care that no one had responded to my requests for 2 weeks. I have found that manually powering off and re-powering the camera sometimes solves the connection issues, but it is aggravating to have to walk to the baby's room to fix the camera so you can monitor the baby...

The camera picture is high quality and the night vision feature is really quite good. However, the sound is terrible. My camera produces an awful grating sound, not white noise, when there is no ambient sound.

Buy WiFi Baby (2012 Version -1st Gen) - iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, PC Baby Monitor. Wireless Video, Au Now

Sometimes you come across a brand experience that was just so amazing, you have to tell people about. For me, that experience came this weekend from an unlikely place a baby monitor manufacturer.

One of my tasks on my to do list was to set up our two newly purchased baby monitors at the house. Being the geek that I am, we had purchased cameras from WiFi Baby that would be viewable on the iPhone, iPad and Android. Initial set-up was a breeze but I ended up running into some pretty technical problems with the dynamic IP's on the cameras. After wasting a few hours trying to solve it myself, I decided to drop an email to WiFi Baby to see if they would be able to help.

Since their website clearly said that customer service was only available during the weekday, I didn't expect to hear anything from them till Monday. But in the first of many pleasant surprises, it only took them about 30 minutes to get a response on Saturday afternoon from Gary, the WiFi Baby Technical Supervisor. While the speed of response was impressive, its really what came next that set WiFi Baby apart. In their email back to me, Gary offered to set up a time over the weekend at any point that I would be available. Once we had a time, he followed up with a simple program to install for screen sharing so he can help me with the problem I was facing.

Once the appointed time rolled around, Gary called my cell phone and we got to work. He immediately took the control of my computer and walked me step by step through everything that needed done. It took about 15 minutes and everything was running perfectly. He even tweaked a few of the settings on the camera that would make for a better experience (changing the date stamp and fixing the lighting). If that wasn't enough, he even helped me get the app set up on my iPhone, which was impressive since it was third party software. Almost any other company would have claimed to not be able to help due to it not being their program. But WiFi Baby recognized that customer service was the ultimate goal and that meant helping at each step of the process. And I almost forgot the best part. Gary followed up about 30 minutes after our call with an email detailing every single step he took so I could fix it myself at a later date. And it wasn't just a generic note but a detailed email with every personalized step. Wow.

Everyone knows of the great customer service from companies like Zappos or Apple. But it is really amazing when you have a chance to run across equally stellar service from a small business. WiFi Baby clearly recognizes the value of going above and beyond for their customers. Needless to say, they have won me over as a loyal customer.

This product is AWESOME! It's exactly what we hoped it would be. For a moment after we'd set it up, I was a little concerned it wasn't going to work like I'd thought though. Thankfully they have amazing free phone tech support. Anyways, here are what I consider to be the most important things to know about Baby Wifi:

1. Great camera quality (both daytime, night vision, etc.)

2. Great sound quality.

3. Camera looks to be well-built, is attractive, and low profile.

4. It's pretty easy to set up yourself for indoor wifi-only use (if you're somewhat tech savvy and know how to follow instructions).

5. You'll need to download a separate iPhone/iPad/Android app to use on your mobile device. We purchased the one Baby Wifi recommends called Baby Monitor HD by Sunshine Apps. It cost another $11.99 for each device.

6. It works with 3G/4G networks as well when you cannot be on your wifi network. This was the BIGGEST selling point for us, but this was precisely what we couldn't figure out how to set up on our own and was our reason to call tech support. It turns out you need to go through some additional steps to have a static IP address for the "Away" mode on the app to use this feature. This was a bit over our heads, and so I was very thankful for Gary's help (our phone technician).

As a last note (directed more to the people at Wifi Baby), the Wifi Baby website should probably be updated in several places that relate to setting up the Baby Monitor app. I found a few places where links, instructions and tutorial videos didn't make sense because the Baby Monitor HD app must have had a new release recently. Although I completely understand that this is a small growing business and they're just trying to keep pace! Anyways....can't fault them though...again b/c the customer service was phenomenal!!

I have been using the ycam along with the Baby monitor app for about two weeks now. Getting it setup was alittle tricky so I finally gave in and submitted a help ticket on the babywifi website. I was able to setup an appointment that same evening. This item is basically a ycam with in packaging from wifi baby. But the extra $50 is totally worth having someone set it up for you step by step. Gary from wifi baby is awesome. There is about a 4 second delay in the sound. But otherwise pretty good. I have it setup on both my husband and my iphones, an itouch, and have the website viewing bookmarked on our laptop. Yes it is a little annoying that you have to pay for the Baby monitor app separately. The app running continuously drains your battery so you have to just keep the phone or itouch plugged in at night. But at least I know with this camera system there are no random strangers that can pick up images of my child in his crib like a monitoring system that uses radio frequencies. Over I have had a great experience with this product.

Nikon Training and Tutorial Videos: Introduction to the Nikon D90, Volume 2

Nikon Training and Tutorial Videos: Introduction to the Nikon D90, Volume 2Wasn't impressed with the DVD. I would strongly recommend "David Busch's Nikon D90 Guide to Digital SLR Photography (Paperback)".... for he doesn't just show you where the buttons are....he explains them and explains how and why you would use certain features. He delves into some photographay basics in explaining the features, but the book isn't intended to replace a photography book. But it enhances it very well!! If you want to understand how your camera works and why there are certain features the camera has...this is the book for you!!

This is second in the series. It's OK but a bit too over acted which can become a little unappealing. Never the Less it has all the info you need to operate the camera in an advanced mode.

Sony Cybershot DSCW5 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

Sony Cybershot DSCW5 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomI bought the Sony DSC-W5 few weeks ago, so far I'm quite pleased with it. The choice was between this one and the Canon SD-400, both are 5MP as I think that's the optimum resolution for my use. Looks like both cameras have similar picture quality with a slight edge for the Canon.

So what decided me for the Sony? Mainly these 4 reasons:

I have a Canon G2, which is slow and bulky, but most of all, after 3 years of use the image quality is degradating. Paid $800 for it 3 years ago, one would expect a longer product life.

-Battery. Canon does not know how to measure battery power, it goes from full to empty in 5mn, that's very frustrating as you have to fully charge the battery the day before you're going to use your camera. Sony gives you a detailed view of the charge left, and even in the case you run out of it, you can plug in 2 plain AA batteries.

Sony is fast, very fast.

Sony has a large bright LCD, it's a pleasure to take shots and look at the pictures on the 2.5' lCD.

I found the sony very easy to use, the settings are easily accessible and are memorised through power ups (which is sometimes bothersome as you have to check all your settings before using the camera at the begining of the day)

About blurry pictures, on something like 100 pictures I only had a few that were blurry. Mainly if you press the button half way and wait for the camera to autofocus, you'll get a good picture. Also the flash is required as soon as the luminosity dims a bit. The only defect I could find is on the autofocus, I believe the balanced autofocus feature gets confused on some situations, even simple ones like a mountain landscape with no tree in front.

Setting the autofocus to center may solve the problem. Also Sharpness should be set to "+" otherwise you get very soft images.

Conclusion: A great product for the price, picture quality is fantastic (most of the times), the LCD is a charm to look at.

Just a clarification of the negative reviews below the "little waving hand" does not mean that the camera is moving. Instead, it means that you are trying to take a photo with a setting that would require a very steady hand to get a sharp result. That is why the hand doesn't go away when you put the camera on a table and you can still take good pictures under these conditions, if the camera is held steady enough. This is a great little camera that I have been totally satisfied with so far. And, just as an aside, this information is in the user's manual, it might be a good idea to read this over before writing bad reviews on this site.

Buy Sony Cybershot DSCW5 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Now

Just to be clear: this is a great camera. It feels solid, starts up instantly, takes good pictures, and has manual controls. It takes AA batteries, has an optical viewfinder, can take expansion lenses, has a huge LCD, and has an AF-assist lamp. Great!

I really like the manual controls. It takes a little while to get used to if you've always been a point-n-shooter like me. But having the controls means that you can take shots that a regular automatic camera in this class would never be able to get. There is actually a 30 second exposure mode, which is very unusual in this class of camera. Read the manual and you will be able to take photos in all lighting conditions.

Unfortunately, even with manual controls this camera suffers in low-light. All cameras without image-stabilization are going to tend to be blurry in low-light. But for some reason, Sony has made their cameras (even the P series cameras) especially sensitive. We were touring around cathedrals in Europe and it is very difficult to get a clear shot because you can't use the flash and the lighting is always a little dark. The solution is to use a tripod, which will give you fantastic pictures. But without one, you have to be creative.

But even so, when you set things up right this camera takes beautiful pictures well-saturated colors, not much graininess. But it will take some learning. If you just want a camera you can leave on Auto all day, you may want a different brand.

We took over 350 pictures in Walt Disney World, two were blurry, the speed of this camera is incredible. I cannot believe how quickly we were able to shoot pictures. I am totally impressed with this camera. We have had a digital HP and Cannon and this is worlds above! I would reccomend this to anyone with children. The cannon took good pictures but the timing was awful. It could take 20 seconds for the camera to be ready for another picture. The Sony was ready in 3 to 5 seconds every time.

Want Sony Cybershot DSCW5 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Discount?

I got this camera after passing on a 4 mp Olympus to my daughter and having my new 5 mp Canon stolen. I ended up almost glad that the Canon was stolen, because my new Sony is so much better. It is easy to use and fast (my husband is a track and cross country coach, and this camera is quick enough to get each runner as they pass during a race) and produces great pictures.

I also like it's size. I'm not a fan of the itsy-bisty, super-thin cameras; I like to have something to hold onto. This is still small, but not credit-card small. I love the big view-screen, though, and it works well in the bright sunlight.

I researched a lot of cameras, then took a chance and bought one I hadn't even looked into. I am so glad I did.
