Canon PowerShot A530 5MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom

Canon PowerShot A530 5MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical ZoomThe Canon A530 is an amazing camera for the price or anyone on a slightly tighter budget. The first thing that surprised me about it was how small it was; at only 3.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches high, it fits easily into your pocket, and serves well as a travel companion.

Pros:

Amazing image quality for a camera in this price range

Excellent clarity in macro mode

ISO 800 is useful to have when taking night shots without a tripod or flash

My colors settings are useful and surprisingly intricate; you can set a custom setting for levels in red, green, and blue individually, as well as contrast, sharpness, saturation, and skin tone

Color accent and swap are nice features for the creative type, and are often more accurate than I had expected

Stitch assist mode automatically locks exposure compensation and aperture to make panoramas easier and consistent (I would really recommend a tripod when doing this to keep the camera level, though. Stitch assist software isn't perfect)

Widescreen 16:9 framing is a nice feature (not to be confused with true widescreen, but automatically frames and crops in 16:9 ratio)

4x optical zoom works very well

Extremely fast start-up time (about one second)

Excellent auto-focus features

Amazing battery-life (a pair of Energizer lithiums lasted me about 800 shots with LCD)

Cons:

Only two aperture settings per zoom level in manual mode. ex. f/2.6 and f/5.6 at 1x, but nothing in-between (the A540 has in-between values for each zoom)

Would have been nice to have had a flip-out LCD like the A610

No Aperture or Shutter Speed priority modes (the A540 does have them)

LCD screen extremely hard to see in very bright conditions (although to be fair, this seems like a more common issue among digital cameras)

All in all, the Canon A530 is an excellent choice for the price, and might be the best bang for your buck if you're looking for something with more features than your standard point-and-shoot, along with excellent image quality.

I don't want to trash the reviewer from Florida, but reading the manual will take care of all of your problems. The flower icon is for the Macro setting. There's an easy-to-read chart of icons in the manual and if you can't figure out the icon from a chart that shows all of the icons it's no wonder that you found an actual written manual too complex. The macro produces crisp pictures with excellent color.

I also use this to take pictures for eBay and it works wonderfully and needs no additional lighting. I have a simple 200watt soft light and the flash doesn't go off when I shoot items. Turning off the flash is even easier it's just one button to push and I can't fathom why anyone can't figure that out.

The ISO 800 setting is much better than on the previous PowerShots, but still isn't perfect. However, this is a point-and-shoot camera and is adaquate for almost all needs if you remember that. I shot some wonderful pictures in a dark concert hall and got excellent clarity on about 80% of the pictures the rest had some slight blurring.

I enjoyed the various settings, especially the stitching, and found them all easy to use and useful. The videos are of pretty decent quality as well, though it's not a video camera.

For the price, this is an excellent camera for everyday use and special occasions.

Before purchased the Cannon A530, I compared it with several other 5MP cameras.(Kodak, Sony, Nikon, Polaroid, HP, Vivitar). I chose the A530 for several reasons: 1The number of shooting modes (over 17), 2It uses two inexpensive AA batteries rather that more expensive Lithium, or other specialty batteries, 3The new ISO 800 setting which reduces camera shake, 4The White Balance Control (Auto, preset for Cloudy, Tungsten, & Flourescent, and the 4X Optical zoom lens, and 5The Post Card Size and the Date Imprint.

I takes excellent clear pictures. The color is very true. The exposure is right on. I have tried editing a few photos, and cannot make them any better by editing brightness, contrast, saturation, and color.

Although it has an optical viewfinder, the LCD is bright and clear even in sunlight for composing a shot.

It is on the verge of being too bulky, but Cannon has other smaller models with similar features (at a higher price). I am very happy with this camera and haven't wished I had chosen a different camera.

I thought this Canon deserved more than an average of 3.5 stars, so I'm adding my comments.

I bought the A530 for my daughter when it became available on Amazon. She had taken photos, with her three-year-old Sony 5MP, of her roses in macro mode. Most of the photos were out of focus. The Sony just seemed to have trouble focusing on the right subject in macro mode. I have found that Canon cameras take excellent photos, especially in macro mode, and the A530 has not disappointed. She (and I) have taken many sharply focused photos of flowers, up close.

LIKES: Very good quality, features, and price. Sharp and colorful photos. Easy to use, small and lightweight. Improved over the A520 with 5MP instead of 4MP and MUCH faster performance.

DISLIKES: Canon's decrease of LCD pixel resolution per inch on the lastest models A430, A530, A540. A disappointment, but only a small annoyance.

ADDED NOTE: Daylight photos are always better over indoor flash shots, whenever possible, with any camera.

Want Canon PowerShot A530 5MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom Discount?

We got this camera about 3 weeks back and it has delivered beautiful pictures ourdoors and decent ones indoors. The start up is fast and this is particularly helpful to me since I use it extensively to shoot pictures of our toddler who is always on the move and decides to do something new and interesting without a warning. With my old Samsung digital camera I missed capturing a lot of moments due to the slow startup. Also, in my old camera there was a lag between the flash coming on and the actual clicking. My daughter would invariably close her eyes after the flash and all her pictures came out with her eyes closed. Not the case with the A530. The color accent feature is very addictive. It does not gobble up batteries like many other cameras do and the video quality is good too. On the whole I would definitely recommend this camera. It is a steal for the price.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera AV / HDMI Cable (6 feet)

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera AV / HDMI Cableit just connects perfectly from my Canon T2i to my LG LCD TV.

Then it's discovered, and as all HDMI cable, sound from movies are directly on TV.

just works (and is cheap)

Don't pay $40 for a brand name cable. That's not smart. Buy this cable and use the money you saved to buy yourself a steak dinner or something.

Nikon COOLPIX S9300 16 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 18x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and Full HD 1080p

Nikon COOLPIX S9300 16 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 18x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and Full HD 1080p VideoI'm sure I either have a bad copy...or some of the reviewing users here haven't put it through it's paces.

My problems:

1. S9300 will not lock focus when zoomed at or near it's maximum.

2. Selecting one of the Auto ISO ranges...125-800 ISO causes the camera to select very low shutter speeds, so that even with vibration reduction, if you are shooting people, the imgages are soft...appearing OOF...out of focus. (Unacceptable for this price range.)

3. The facial recognition feature, if used on anything but faces...will most often select something other than what you want to focus on...and since this is a menu driven feature, if you're switching between sceens, like at a birthday party, it's a pain to use.

4. Generally speaking, the images leave a lot to be desired across the board. And, this is the general consensus of online reviews...rating the camera a "C" as very average. I have to agree.

5. Portrait mode is way too cool...and there is no way to adjust the color temp in any mode except Auto. Or from the menu when in Auto...again, for the price, this is unacceptable.

6. And this is a biggie...I have lost confidence in the camera's ability to capture the shots that I want.

I tried to like it...I shot over 200 images...and very few were keepers. I had a Canon Elf S600...and it took better images than this model...and the Canon S600 is 4 years old.

I have called Nikon and asked for an RMA and am returning S9300 for a refund. Bottom line, for $349.00, this camera is a poor to average performer...yeilding good to mediocre images.

I don't disagree that if you are outside in bright light that it takes pretty good images...but, still not up to my expectations for the price tag.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this camera to friends or anyone else.

Like I said in my opening statement...I may have a bad copy. These are just my findings on the copy that I received...

Not a happy camper here...

UPDATE: Going on vacation soon and wanted a better point and shoot. Purchased the Nikon P7700 compact point and shoot. I am thrilled to say that this is more like what I was looking for when I bought the S9300. There are lots of external controls...more is better...such as a thumb wheel to adjust your exposure on the fly...way cool.

Image quality is first rate at this price point($399.00.) It is bigger than the S9300 and doesn't have the zoom range...but it does zoom optically to the equivalent of 200mm. Nice.

Just check out the P7700 here at Amazon...you won't be sorry.

I see Nikon has yanked the S9300 and replaced it with an S9500...so, reviews weren't wrong...to bad for current S9300 owners. I wonder if Nikon will be offering a discount on the new S9500, if you send in your S9300.

Bought this camera since i lost my canon powershot sd900. I only buy canon products but since nikon has been advertising the heck out of their products i thought i give it a chance. Overall this camera takes awesome photos. The in camera features are great as well. My only problem is that in order to review your photos you have to turn on the camera you just can't press the review button. When you do take a photo it takes forever for the preview to disappear. You can either have it on or off. With canon it gave you the option of 1,2 or 3 second preview. The last thing is that the flash is in an awkward place but as i was looking at the canon website every company is going to that format. I would recommend this camera to someone though.

Rcubed.

Being a happy user of Nikon dSLR's and also my camera of choice for most stuff, there are still certain benefits in a good compact. My last compact being an olympus, which was a very disappointing experience. All the nikons I have owned in the past have always had a good build quality so that's what swung it for this one. When I purchased this camera it was brand new to the market so there was limited reviews but mostly positive. The Lumix zs20 nearly got my money as it is also a fantastic compact with similar spec but i'm a sucker for the nikon brand so I took the plunge. First impressions were that it is smaller then I expected, which is a good thing to me as that is the point of a compact right. The build quality seems good as do the ergonomics. Have taken a few hundred shots with it and am very impressed. Low light shots are particularly good with very low noise. The 18 x zoom is silent, quick and very smooth with decent optics, my only complaint being that at the maximum reaches and the camera being so small it is hard to hold steady enough for a sharp image but that is probably the issue on any small camera with a long lens. Great glove box or travel camera that can be recharged from anything with a USB. Very pleased with it so far.

I bought this camera to use as a point and shoot camera when I didn't want to carry my SLR. Given that I have been so happy with my Nikon DSLR purchase, I thought I would by happy with this purchase. The design of the camera is terrible and the flash is located in a terrible place that is very inconvenient. The biggest problem that I have though is the fact that this camera takes mostly blurry pictures. I would think the idea of a point and shoot is that you can grab it out of your bag and just take a picture. I recently took a trip to colorado and took a bunch of pictures only to find that most of them had awful color balance and were extremely blurry. I really couldn't be more disappointed in my purchase and I am going to try and figure out if I can return it.

So I bought this camera 6 months ago and have used it steadily ever since. I've been a photographer for over 40 years and its a good quality device.

There have been no failures and I've had relatively little trouble learning to use it on the fly. (Although I admit I used the instruction manual once!) I've used the camera in below zero conditions in the snow, backpacking, in low light, in the rain as well as in bright sunlight. It performs excellently in all conditions, giving good crisp and clear photos. Of course, this means that you've actually taken the time to compose the shot ahead of time. No camera will compensate for poor set up. It has never froze, or given me an error message.

As with any new camera there are some things you have to learn to do differently. I've adjusted to the fact that the flash pops up under where I usually put my left index finger and never think about it.

I'd recommend the camera as a good all around camera.

Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens + 16

Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens + 16GB Deluxe Accessory KitThis is my first SLR camera and I love it. I did extensive research before purchasing the T3 and could not be more pleased. This kit is the best price on the market and it shipped very fast. The camera took amazing pictures right out of the box. I have two kids and the quick shutter speed is perfect when they can't/won't sit still. The action shots are crisp and high quality as well. I rarely use the flash even for indoor shots. The auto mode increases the ISO level and makes the pictures look soft and beautiful.

I also read Digital SLR for dummies and picked up some great tips on how to make my amateur pictures look professional. I would highly recommend the T3 and the value kit.

Buyer beware! The camera bag in the picture is not the camera bag that you receive with this product. The bag that you receive is much smaller and can barely fit the camera with just the one lens.

That being said... this is a great package. It's worth it just for the camera, the tripod (which is nice), the memory card, and the extra battery. I paid the extra 10 bucks for shipping and it arrived the next day so that was awesome.

Bottom line: great package, but the bag sucks. Be prepared to buy a different bag and factor that price into your decision.

This purchase is perfect for a beginning or amateur photographer and includes everything who is ready to start the digital world of photography. I'm a college student who is just starting a major in photography and this is going to be perfect for a starter camera. The Canon T3 camera is very light weight and perfect for on the go life styles. One of my favorite things in the deluxe accessory kit is the camera bag because it fits everything that you get in the kit (except for the tripod, but that has its own case with a handle) and much more!

First and foremost I ordered this item on a Friday and It came the following Monday, so shipping was excellent!

The camera in itself, the Canon EOS Rebel T3(1100D) is an exceptional camera for everyday and professional use. It has the capabilities of shooting with an Iso from 100 to 6400, it is comfortable to hold, very lightweight due to the hard plastic design, and the user interface is very easy to navigate.

The accessories, some good some bad. The SD Card is a 16 GB SDHC class 10, which is a very nice card, plenty of space when shooting just in Jpeg 12 Mp, it gives you well over 2000 pictures to take. The memory card reader is nice if you don't have an SD card slot on your PC. The Hdmi cord is a nice accessory but when I used it, it seemed to cause static noise on the picture on my hd tv. The tripod is an ok built tripod, when fully extended the lower legs are very thin and feel flimsy so take precaution when using this outdoors or near children. The bag definitely seems small, but It manages to fit the camera, an 18-55 MM lens that comes with it, and a 50 MM lens. I do recommend any user to purchase the Canon 50 MM F/1.8 lens. It is definitely a lens to have handy and its only around 100 dollars. As far as the lcd screen protectors, you have to cut it yourself to fit to the screen and they were really blotchy and bad when put on, so definitely pick up different ones or none at all if you take care of your equipment. Comes with an extra battery which is definitely handy when out and about. The table top tripod is actually really cool! Its so compact and structurally very well built. The memory card wallet is a nice addition too, not the best, a little tight, but definitely also comes in handy.

OverallFor the price that you get the Canon T3 with 18-55 MM lens, this is definitely a great pick up for anyone who is interested in getting a D-SLR and starting something new. This was hands down one of the better kits that the site has to offer for its price. But like I mentioned, picking up the Canon 50 MM f/1.8 along with this kit will make it worth your while!

We purchased this camera and Deluxe Accessory Kit for our honeymoon. The camera works well, just as you would expect a Canon product. However, the Accessory kit is a completely different matter. The Camera bag sholder strap broke within 1 week of use. This was due to the cheap plastic that attached the strap to the bag. After "fixing" the attachment with a metal link, the latch that holds the bag then broke. At this point I'm wondering what is so "DELUXE" about this accessory kit. I would not recommend the accessory kit, you would be much better purchasing a quality bag separately. We were very disappointed in the quality.

Campro Low Profile Triple Hot Shoe Light and Sound Bracket

Campro Low Profile Triple Hot Shoe Light and Sound BracketWhen the item arrived I was impressed by the build, it didn't look like much much in the photos but it's quite thick and feels more solid than bar designs that do this stuff. Remember you have a little less in the way of options for mounting (ie a microphone MUST go on top if it has shock mounts or it won't sit right (I have a Rode VideoMic Pro), and the monitor will most likely need another small arm to get it the way you want if you use it as suggested. I turned it sideways, so there was one shoe mount on top, one on front, one on the back, my monitors included little arm went into the back and now hangs over the viewfinder of my Canon 5dm2, which is perfect, and of course can be swiveled up and down. It seems to lock the mic and monitor in very well, will only say you need to screw it on TIGHT or it may swing left or right a bit, needs more traction, or maybe I've put too much weight on it. The other advantage over the bar or V style is everything stays close to the camera, less leverage ripping at the hotshoe, which is why I have this and the bar type but use this now.

I would recommend. Well built and a life saver.. Used this to mount my Zoom H1 along with two Nanguag 5400K LED Video light lamps

As others have noted, this item is very well built and well thought out. I use it for my camcorder, attaching an Azden shotgun and a Sony wireless receiver. Due to the 90 degree mounting setup, everything fits without interference. Only caveat is that with heavy items attached, you probably cannot screw the mounting attachment down tightly enough to keep the unit from swiveling during use. I used some break-free Loctite on the threads and everything is now stable and works like a charm.

This does exactly what you want it to do, and it's very durable. I had to take off one star becase the bottom mount (which connects it to the camera) can be a little frustrating, where it's difficult to fully tighten it without twisting the whole thing (so the lights, mic or whatever you're mounting are point to the side). It can be done, though, so it's a very handy piece for a good price. But if you're trying to prep quickly for a real tight shoot, don't be surprised to find yourself cursing at this thing before you get it all mounted properly.

I looked at a lot of accessory mounts to use with my Canon XH-A1S but most were cheaply made and I didn't want it sticking out to the sides like airplane wings. Based on some of the reviews here and the quality of the build I bought one and have not been disappointed. I've got a 7" HD LCD monitor, a 150 LED light and a Rode or AT shotgun mic mounted on it for a lot of work and it's great for my needs. I've also used it on my Canon 5DII and 7D for mounting mics and lights and it's not too heavy for the shoe. If you're looking for something made of metal and quality built this is the mount for you!

Fujifilm Finepix A350 5.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

Fujifilm Finepix A350 5.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomAfter much research and trepidation I bought this newly released camera. There were no real reviews available because it just became available in the US the end of March. I am replacing a Finepix A310 which for the price was a decent point and shoot but was damaged beyond repair in an accident.

For features and picture quality I believe the price is hard to beat. After experimenting for a week, I have found the photos to be excellent both in doors and out doors with various modes available such as portrait, landscape and even a night mode. The one thing that plagued other cameras in this class was underpowered flash..the flash is more than adequate for a camera of this size and I am extremely pleased with the results.

It is smaller but more solid than my previous finepix and very intuitive controls and miserly on battery usage while most others are simply battery hogs. It even does video with amazing good quality however the sound is monoraul and leaves something to be desired.

If you need a point and shoot with some manual adjustments available, good battery usage, compact and occasional video then this is the camera for you. Again..proof is in the photos themselves. Oh..this thing powers up ready to shoot amazingly quick...

Enjoy..you can't go wrong with this one..latest technology and usually can be found up to 30% off its list price.

I bought this camera as an upgrade to a three-year old Finepix 2600Z that I noticed was slow compared to the newer ones. The pics were still excellent so I figured I'd stay with Fugi. Since purchasing the A350, I've become increasingly interested in taking more professional "LOOKING" photos. So, I've tried the Nikon Coolpix 7600, the Cannon SD500, the new Cannon Power Shot S2 IS, the Cannon PS A10, and the Finepix F10. (Sending three of the above mentioned back). And, I keep coming back to this little no-nonsense, non fidley, point and shoot wonder. It is the easiest and the best of them all.

At first some pics were blurred, until I learned the secret of standing against something to brace myself, holding my breath as I shot the photo, and just using the focus feature like it says in the manual. And behold! Great pictures! I'm a big fan of natural light, and shoot most of my pictures without a flash, and try and fill the frame. That's what works for me anyway. Some people love to "set up" the shot, and that's fine but I've learned that's not for me, I don't have time to fiddle espicially when it's catching children in unaffected and natural states of being. I love spontaneous shots. And with this camera, those are within my reach.

It looks as nice as the "upper end" purse/pocket sized Cannons, (same size but a tad thicker), it's much less complicated to use, and the price is unbelievably reasonable. Everyone should have one even if it's just to have as a back up. You'll find yourself using it more than the one it's backing up. :)

This is my seventh Finepix..A205 A210 A330 A340 A345 and A350 in addition to Finepix s602. I am teaching Digital Photography to Seniors and I highly recommend the Fuji Products. Those that

complain either are not holding the camera steady or not making

sure that the focus is right in the center.. When I move up to the next model camera, I usually give the older model to my niece, nephew, or granddaughter. Many of my former students are

making great photos with various digital cameras because they

are: Holding the camera steady, pressing the shutter release

halfway so the camera focusses and sets the exposure. Then after

clicking the shutter, holding the camera steady for about a second. I even recommend using the self timer for still subjects

so there is no chance of blurring the picture

I received this camera as a gift last Christmas. Unlike a reviewer below, I took some time with it before writing this review. I also don't care what the camera looks like. Sure, its small and sleek, but I prefer that over big and chunky....

Anyway, I have had a generally good experience in the 60 -70 pics I have taken with it. One thing I really like is the menu system is very intuitive. I didn't read the manual at first, just started messing with it, and I was able to take good quality pictures, and figure out the movie mode. It has a simple menu system for those that don't like reading the manual. (read the manual anyway, there's good stuff in there) Another feature I like is the macro mode. I took some VERY close shots of my pets and various car parts and they all turned out excellent. Flash has worked well. Not perfect though, as I've occasionally had to take the pic again when the pic showed too dark. I picked up the 1GB memory card for more memory, as the 16MB card it comes with will only take about 20 pics at the best quality. 1GB will let you take a little over 700.

My only complaint is the LCD is a little dark and slightly fuzzy. The pics turn out much better than the LCD screen shows, but you sometimes can't tell in preview mode if the pic you just took was great or kinda crappy.....

Overall, I'm happy with it, and my wife got it for a good price. If you're looking for a no fuss, easy to use camera, find this one on sale and you won't be disappointed.

It's an outstanding Digital Camera . its size is small to compare other Digital Cameras but its features and options are so vast , it doesn't have many functional bottons or arrow keys on the body of the Camera but it has many features ,options and camera control Functions through Menus appearing on the LCD , you can scroll , move , select and manage the menus on the LCD by the Simple Arrow Keys and bottons implemented on the body of the camera . The Quality of the pictures are outstanding for printing and seeing in the computer and you can easily zoom in to the objects because of the advanced quality ,however when you attach the camera to TV to see them on the TV screen ,some pics apear to be Blur and hazy but when you zoom to the objects you see a clear image on the TV screen, anyway the Quality of the pictures are so great when you download and see them in your PC . it's also capable to record with sound with a reasonable quality .
