I purchased this camera from a source other than Amazon. The purchase was made because my wife and I were going on a vacation, and our older Canon is no longer working. Overall, we are very pleased with the features and picture quality of this camera. Our trip was to Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park. We took several hundred pictures and found the pictures had wonderful color and clarity whether shooting the red and white "hoodoos" and cliffs of Bryce Canyon or a closeup of cactus in bloom. A few pictures had less than perfect focus, but at least in some cases, that probably had more to do with the photographer than the camera. We have also used it with good results at an indoor family event, where we got some nice pictures with or without flash.

The only negatives I experienced are relatively minor. At the longest zoom length the camera will struggle to focus on a moving object. No surprise there, I think that's probably one of the toughest things to ask a camera to do. I was also a little disappointed at the shutter lag considering it has a CMOS image sensor which is supposedly quicker than a CCD sensor. You may miss the best pictures of your young grandkids when they aren't able to sit still and hold a pose.

Takes great detailed shots. That's exactly why this item was purchased. Great response in delivery as well! Nice packaging. Would like to know what camera case would be good for this. Would like to have an option to include additional memory as well.

I purchased this camera for $179 from QVC, wanting a little more zoom than a standard point and shoot. Took camera to Mexico on vacation and used for Xmas also. Any photo taken with the flash appears washed and has white spots that look like overexposure no matter how far or close I stood from the subject. Also flash would not fire in Auto mode ??? Had to set it to other modes to get it to work.

I contacted Olympus since the manual was no help. I sent over 20 emails back and forth to Olympus trying to attach sample photos to show them. Their email server continually rejected all the emails with photos attached even within the file size range they suggested. I finally gave up. I spent $40 at Best Buy for an extra battery also.

I had to send the camera back after making every effort on my end to correct issues. What a disappointment!

Celestron LCD Deluxe Digital Microscope (44345)

As a home schooler, I am always collecting bits of technology to implement the learning curve of the bright little minds. This scope perfectly overcomes the limitations caused when your students have glasses or sight problems. They can gather around it and turn the LCD to share discoveries.

The build quality is satisfactory, every function works as described. Some reviews claimed to see dark spots on the screen. I found nothing of the sort. There were some dark bubbles in the thin plastic film which was screen protection in shipping. Maybe they didn't know to remove the plastic film? As with any lab tool you have to keep the lenses and slide environment very clean.

Gripes: The largest magnifier has to get VERY close to the slide to magnify contents. This means that the light from the top LED gets obscured. This somewhat limits the ultra magnification to things like thinned liquids or transparent objects that can be back lit. Other scopes have a moving stage area instead of little metal arms that this one has to move the slides around. The movement left and right or front to back of the slides is not very fluid and feels like cheap plastic bushings or something.

Likes: The carry case is well made with a shoulder strap. The seven included slides provide good contrasts of color and sample variety. I will be purchasing more along with some blanks. We were able to identify and view individual blood cells, bacterium, plant cells and the like. With some practice we got scary up-close with a sugar ant. In the LCD Deluxe Digital Microscope, Celestron has nailed a good balance of features to educational value.

I got this microscope to use as a tool for my homeschooled daughter. It is a great learning tool. I have not had any problems with it (as indicated by other reviewers for a different model.)

It is nice to be able to view slides with my daughter as she is studying them. The pictures the camera produces are wonderful.

The traditional features of the microscope are good lighting, stage movement, filters, lens. Even my husband, who is a pathologist and looks through a microscope everyday of his life is impressed with this one!

This is a fine, modern microscope for the proce.

I did not purchase my Celestron 44345 microscope from Amazon but I thought I'd post a tip here for those considering this item. I originally purchased this microscope from Costco dot com. They had a great price but the scope had several problems: 1) the lower light flickered (apparently a common problem with Celestron microscopes) and that affected the LCD display, 2) the LCD display had problems with red, so that viewing red items caused pixels in the display to flicker, and 3) the stylus for the touchscreen was broken. I contacted Celestron and they advised to return the scope for a replacement. The feature set for this microscope is pretty unique and I wanted to find a replacement that worked, but based on the feedback here on Amazon regarding the regular (non-deluxe) version of the Celestron LCD microscope I was reluctant to order another sight-unseen because the flickering illumination issue seems to have affected quite a few. Unfortunately, I am in a state that does not have any Celestron microscope dealers where I could have inspected a scope, but I was able to contact a dealer in Oceanside CA who graciously tested one out to ensure it did not have any issues. It's a beautiful device and I am glad to have it. So, the tip is simply to consider a similar strategy if this scope interests you -find a seller who will check it out. BTW, one of the included slides is an apple and that works well for the "red" test.

I purchased this microscope for my son's 11th birthday 9we are home schooling him) While I was not expecting a laboratory grade instrument for 250$, I would at LEAST like it to do what ot said it would in the description! the only things on it that worked were the 2 illumination lamps. The LCD screen was either black or white...no touch-screen...nothing. I had to call the company 7 (SEVEN)! times to get them to replace it with a new one. Every time I tried to access technical support,they had a recording saying they were closed (i was within their buisness hours). When I recieve the replacement scope,I will write another review,wether it works or not. This may be the last Celestron product I ever buy.

ive had two of the Celestron LCD Deluxe Microscopes. the first one was returned because just out box i turned LCD monitor on and could not turn off. so i had to unplug the device, which would not turn back on. so i returned for replacement. now ive just received replacement model and the touch screen does not respond on this one regardless of suggested methods of resetting the machine. so, obviously this is a poor design. hopefully i can return for refund and use for less expensive higher quality microscope camera, notice the resolution on the Celestron LCD Microscope is rather low and can not be interchanged nor replaced.

I have been using this lens a fair amount for about 6 months now, and I have to say it rocks. Extremely fast and pretty damn sharp. I read other reviews before I bought this lens. They were correct. This a great lens for video. I have a Canon EOS 7D. In video mode what you see is what you get. This lens is full manual. The f/1.4s will not be seen by the camera. Not a problem in video mode. Having full control is great. In photo mode it works great in controlled situations. I would not be able to be fast enough in dynamic situations.

I bought this lens for videos. Yes!!! I love it. Great for low light videos. Takes the great pictures also.

I am new but had no problem using it to shoot videos.

D-Link DCS-3220G CCD 2-Way Audio 4x Zoom 802.11g 54Mbps Wireless Internet Camera

The Camera is very hard to install. It is not possible to do it yourself unless you are very familiar with getting free dns service configured. It is not able to work with my main stream wireless router from Netgear. The wait for help over the phone was over 30 min. It is not possible to view it from computers not on your network without free dns service, no instructions on how to do it in any case. The bottom line, stear clear of this mess unless you plan to hard wire it. That is what i will try next.

Fortunately, I'm not having any of the problems others have listed, such as network dropouts, item DOA, or initial network connection issues. To these people I would recommend they contact the person who installed and configured their wireless network, because they'll need the WEP code and SSID (Wireless network name) to connect their camera.

Installation was pretty straight forward with the right information about the network. Signal strength is fine wherever it may roam (more on this later), and while the audio is a little scratchy, it's a bonus feature I'm just tickled to have at all. Color is OK.

Some people have said they have problems accessing it over the Internet after a period of time. I don't use the camera this way so I can't comment on this. I should point out that I use the camera in what is probably an unconventional manner. After I tested it out, and knew it worked well (the other reviews had me nervous), I removed the antennae and hooked up a signal booster (basically a stronger, powered antenna), tossed the AC-DC adapter and replaced it with a battery pack (to make it truly wireless), and connected it to a servo controlled pan/tilt bracket, then screwed the whole thing onto the front of a robot (think Martian rover). Just for kicks, I plugged in a small set of old speakers to make the audio 2-way. The audio/video stream can be added to any webpage with some JavaScript code, and with this it can be incorporated into custom control software for any electronic devices (like robots, or pan/tilt brackets) you might have in use with the camera.

For really basic features, you don't even need to install the D-Link software, you don't need more than the A/V stream, because all the essential controls are built into the JavaScript (video zoom, audio volumes/mutes, and a PTT button to talk through the speakers). So once you have the D-Link software installed on one system, config the camera and get everything working, you can access the A/V stream from another computer with minimal fuss.

My 3220G died as soon as I applied the latest firmware. I had first tried the 6620G ($750!) and it froze up constantly, lost its wireless grip, didn't return reliably to location settings... All in all a great concept but D-Link doesn't deliver. No tech support. Don't waste your time with these cameras. I had to return both the 3220G and 6620G to Amazon.

Camera died after firmware upgrade using the ethernet port to perform upgrade as Dlink recommends. I bought from Ebay new and Dlink refused to replace or repair. So beware if you pay several hundred dollars make sure you buy it from a authorized dealer or Dlink want work on it or even attempt to help you get it repaired. Think twice about buying Dlink because down the road you may have to throw it away regardless of the price you paid. Need to research other brands and see what their repair policy is after warranty, from unauthorized seller, or buying used.

I'm not a system analyst, so I need really clear instructions for any new device. I bought this camera 1 year ago to use as a home security camera which I could view from the Internet at my office.

Troubles I encountered:

1.) Set up was impossible. I finally figured out that I had to disable the wep on my wireless network thus inviting all my neighbors to free Internet connection. I wasn't willing to do this.

2.) I could view from the Internet within my home network, but not from my office.

3.) Had to convince one of my company's IT system analysts to visit me at home and trouble shoot the camera's system. Took her 3 hours of guess work but she successfully set it up and keep my network secure-which worked until I had to reset my router. 2 weeks of use in one year.

4.) I have never been able to have the camera send "snap shots" to my e-mail or ftp folder. D-Link tech support confirmed that I was setting it up correctly... but the feature doesn't work. I was told by D-Link tech support that I may need to disable my Internet security program. No can do.

5.) D-Link tech support may not have access to this productthey are not able to respond to my inquiries. They would send me answersbut not to the questions I asked!

6.) The weather protection cover is not designed for wireless antenna and has been out of stock each time I have tried to purchaseso I have not been able to install on the outside of my home. It therefore must be used inside which is not what I need. I could have paid < $80 for an indoor camera.

Every so often, when I have a few hours to burn, I drag it out and try to make the thing work. For the couple weeks it was viewable on the Internet it provided a nice view of my home, but it wasn't useful without snapshots or any type of archived image documentation.

These are well made cables and at a CHEAP price. I dont know how they can sell such quality made cables at such a low price but somehow they do, and Im glad. With Fast shipping, I got the 3 cables I ordered quickly and as Advertised.

Really, you would have to be a complete Idiot to throw a Hundred Plus on some Way overpriced Monster Cable Garbage that uses lots of False advertising to get suckers to fall for it. Guess what, these cables are also Lifetime Warranty, not like youll ever need to worry about it. Stores like to display Side By Side Test Displays, and show one with Monster Cable in use and the other with a Generic cable, and of course the one using Monster is BETTER. What most people dont notice is that the picture on the Generic Cable Display and been purposely screwed up to look bad, or whats even better, they use a Composite connection on the Generic HDTV Display, (which means its not even showing a HD Picture) and a HDMI connection on the Monster setup. Most people arent going to try and see the cables and the hookups that are behind out of sight.

You could buy one of these new cables every year, for YEARS before you ever caught up to the price of buying a single Monster (Rip-Off) cable. HDMI is also a DIGITAL signal, as in 1s and 0s being passed though the cable, or as in On/Off, Power, No power. You either get a picture or you dont. Canon PowerShot A310 3.2MP Digital Camera

As an owner of two other canon cameras (G2 & S50) I'm obviously pleased with the products they put out. When I decided to look for a smaller lightweight anytime camera I again went with canon. I did look at nikon, fuji, and sony, who all had nice features but for the money and options this camera looked best. After playing with it for a bit I'd have to say the point and shoot pictures are very good--outside. the load up time is short, and I can simply snap away without a problem. The pictures come out very bright and clear for a 3.2mp camera--some nice stuff. Now when taking pictures inside, the story is a lot different..the flash drains serious battery power (a310 takes AA or nimh rechargables) and takes close to 30 seconds to 'recharge' before you can take another picture. Luckily I don't plan on using this inside much, but if you are this is definitely something to be worried about. The lens is fixed, but there is a 5x digital zoom that works pretty well between 3-4x once you get to 5x its very grainy. Size is good, it's about the same size as my s50 but much lighter, the power-on mechanism is the same, using the front lens cover as the switch. it's rather secure compared to the s50, i don't feel that it will open up accidently often. To wrap this up, my overall feeling is that I'm pleased with the purchase, the battery life is short, my first set of AA batteries died in about 45 minutes, the features are good, the pictures come out nice and the video option works fine. indoor pictures aren't so hot, but if you change the ISO speed and exposure you can pull off decent pictures with or without the flash. It's a great camera!

I bought this for my daughter because it is inexpensive and easy to use, and it's been a lot of fun. You will be hard pressed to find a better 3.2 megapixel camera for the money. Picture quality is excellent, operates on two AA batteries (get rechargables with a recharger because battery life is short), downloads your photos in seconds to your computer through a USB cord that comes with the camera, has a zoom (the 5x max zoom is not sharp; you are better off cropping and enlarging a non-zoom photo image on the computer), the flash is decent, and the features are functional. My daughter loves it. I have been a confirmed film camera purist and still prefer my Nikon with its hefty 28-210 zoom to a pixel image, but why lug that around when we have this little pocket wonder? A perfect introduction to digital photography...

I was looking for a good camera for a good price, and found the a310. Since I don't need great photos, even though this camera gives great photos, it's great. All the controls are very user friendly; you can switch from camera mode to movie taking mode with a mere switch, which brings me to the movie taking ability. Of course, you can't expect a great movie capability, but this camera sure covers what I need. With a decent sized card, you can get a whole lot of movies. However, on the highest resolution, you can only take movies up to 30 seconds long, which is okay for me since most movies longer than that get boring. I use a 512mb card, and can get about 450 seconds of high resolution video(30 seconds each)and more than 1000 seconds on medium. on low resolution....wow. I find myself using the movie capability more than the pictures. If you're starting out in photography, or just want a decent camera for a great price, you've found it.

I bought this camera on a friend's advice. I have been very happy with it. It is packed with loads of features. I find it easier to use than my old point and shoot analog camera. The only drawbacks are, battery life, and the small CF card it comes with. I bought a 512mb card which allows me 300+ pics on the highest setting. I also bought re-chargable NiMH batteries which give me about 200 pics before they need to be replaced.

Was very excited to finally receive this camera through mail. Tried it out but was amazed of how quickly the included batteries died. Nothing major that rechargeable NIMH batteries couldn't fix. Loved the quality of the pics, but even loved it more when i figured out how to set it on the Superfine setting. The sliding lense cover both acts as a protective cover and the power switch which makes it very easy to use. The included USB cable and power adapter makes transfers to the computer an easy process. My favorite feature on this camera though, is the video mode with sound! The lag between each shot with the flash on is pretty aggravating though. Overall, This camera performs very well for the price and I take it everywhere I go!

I was really excited to find this camera as it provided all the features I was looking for with a very affordable price. I initially tested it out via a hard-wired ethernet connection and it worked flawlessly. Obtained an IP from my router easily and access to the camera server was quick/snappy. Picture quality was good in both low/no light as well as in full or medium light. Then I enabled the wireless and installed it in the room I wanted to monitor. Unfortunately this is when things broke down. While the wireless worked, it was definitely not speedy at all (I was utilizing WPA2 security). Accessing the initial camera menu was very slow, the picture was jittery/choppy, and the actual wireless connection would pretty much always drop after no more than 1 hours time. I double/triple checked the connection strength and confirmed there was a strong connection in its location.

After doing some additional research, I found other reviews online stating that this camera is known to be a bit buggy with its wireless connection. From what I can tell there is no known fix (yet) but suffice to say the wireless feature is pretty much not an option because of its lack of reliability.

I rated it a 3 because now that I have it connected via a wire, it is a great little device and the price is definitely right. If you have the ability to connect it via wire I'd recommend it. If wireless is a must have feature then I'd try another device as this one is just too buggy.

I bought this IP cam to keep an eye on my newborn on the upper floor. It's definitely working great, with a good resolution and image quality in the dark.

My only negative comment is that to get the sound, you need Internet Explorer as the whole interface is meant for Active X.

Except for the internet browser constraint, the camera does its job and at least has a cute design. I would definitely recommend it.

I bought this because I have a fancier tripod. I use a lilliput 7" monitor and mounted it to the side of the 1/4 mounting in the fluid head. Make sure you have that tight, hold on to the monitor while tilting to confirm it won't move then your good to go. I am ordering a couple more for the other side of my fancier fluid head mounting hole for my digital recorder.

I recently sold my Nikon Coolpix 8700, and was looking for a new camera that gave me picture quality equal to or better, and was a much smaller camera. I like taking pictures, but I'm not a photo guy. I basically want to aim, press the button and let the magic happen. Taking a chance I decided to try this camera, and I wasn't disappointed.

It's got a lot of options to go beyond just auto mode if I want to dive into that. My main thing was the picture quality though and the quality of photos is excellent. My wife has a Canon A700 that takes decent pictures so we did a comparison just using the auto settings. A picture of our dog in the house with all the lights off in one room, a picture with one light on, and a picture with all the lights on. I figure if the low light pictures are good, then I'll be pretty happy with the daytime pictures.

While both cameras did a good job, our preference was the Nikon's photos. The colors were closer to what we expected they should look like, and to our eyes appeared more natural. There wasn't any noticeable noise in the photos, and the quality is very, very good.

The size of the camera is great. Shorter than my Blackjack cell phone, and about 2.5 times as thick. Definitely a camera that I could carry in the pocket of my jeans, or a jacket and not feel weighed down.

I recently got this wonderful camera for Christmas. Its perfect, just what I wanted. Its small, goodlooking. It takes great pictures. It has endless options for any type of picture taker.

I love the automatic scene selection. The camera decides by itself the perfect setting for the perfect picture id say about 90% of the time it makes the right choice. It is possible to confuse it if the picture has a lot of different things going on.

For instance if you are outside it will automatically switch to the outside setting and if u go inside it will automatically change to the inside setting without you having to do a thing.

One time when i was in the bar it got it wrong though. It changed it to night time setting automatically instead of party setting so it was a little blurry. No prob though, i deleted that picture and set it on what i wanted. C'mon, the camera cant know everything. Im hugely impressed at what it does know.

In general though I also love the automatic setting. Its foolproof. You simply cannot take a bad picture on the automatic setting. All of my pictures are clear and crisp.

OMG the editing! You can edit your pictures while they are still in your camera! I LOVE IT. You can turn a crappy picture into gold, the editing is limitless. You can take a picture of like 10 people at once then go and edit each face out to make portraits!

It zooms in great and the zoom does not mess with the quality of the picture, no graininess whatsoever.

Ive got lots of friends with similar type cameras and have seen their pictures and i swear up and down theirs compared to mine are complete crap.

Do not get anything else if you are looking for a "git r done" camera. Its so versatile. If your a serious photographer that wants something small and cute this camera is perfect. But if your like me and wanted something to carry in your purse to make memories wherever you are, its also perfect.

Its fast, and easy. Hardly any delay. I love smile finder too! It also has a ten second timer so everyone can be in the picture.

This is my first digital camera and im not embarressed to say i was worried about being able to run it. The owners manual is clear and easy to read. I highly recommend not just a thumb through but to actually sit down and read it. After you do that, its a breeze to run it : )

I have zero complaints. Its perfect for everyone! I give it an A+ hands down, everyone should own one!

I have had this camera for approx. 4 months. I am so happy with it in every way but one. After about a month, the camera read "lens error" and would freeze open. I assumed this was an isolated incident, but it is now happening with more frequency. I contacted nikon, who told me that this is not a warranty issue. I have searched the internet and have found that this is a surprisingly common issue. I really would have expected a company like nikon to stand behind their products. I would be very leary to buy another one based on this, which is really sad, as I do love the quality and features of this camera!

Got this camera for a month, did a wedding and a few travels with it, overall among the best sub-compacts but not perfect.

Good points:

Manual mode: surprisingly useable, I usually leave it on this mode, click the side of the thumbwheel to switch from ISO to shutter to aperture, turn the wheel to set each in turn, a little exposure scale shows up to guide selection. Easy to select ISO up to 12800 (hardly useable, very grainy, 3200 is practical maximum).

High ISO: 3200 fairly smooth, 800 to 1600 very decent, I ended up not using flash for any of the wedding (inside) pictures.

Bad:

Night flash mode good but not tyro-friendly, lent to a friend for pictures and most of them turned out blurry, she did not have a steady hand. Regular flash rather ugly, not what I'm used to with Nikon

Pictures show perfect on the camera screen but a bit dark on my computer monitor; not sure which is "wrong", or whether there is some automatic D-Lighting during playback, anyway annoying.

Overall good camera, would buy it again, but need to dig into it a bit, the pictures on my computer did not turn out as good as I expected based on what I saw on screen.

First off, I have to say that this is possibly the best ultracompact camera to buy at this price range. It's full of great features and can make amazing quality pictures. The different shooting options are fun to play around with and are actually usable in their respective situations. It also has a very high ISO capability something I was looking for in a camera this small. Also, the shutter/aperture priority settings are really neat and fun to play around with.

Now, some things that get a little annoying. First, I have to say the menu system was tough to get used to. It took a couple of minutes of going in and out of different picture stuffed menus to find what I wanted. Not to mention the fact that there's a lag between exiting a menu and taking a picture and zooming and taking a picture. And like some other point-and-shoots, the lens tend to cause the purple streak to form at the sides of a picture.

Obviously taking snapshot photos at 14MP will cause the camera to slow down a little that's a lot of data that has to be stored in a memory card, but to take that first shot, it takes well over four seconds to load up the camera, something not too appealing to a couple of people who want a camera with lightning fast power on.

All in all, the Nikon Coolpix S710 is a great buy for any experienced, beginner and multi-use camera user. It's fun to play around with all the different options, and it's great when it actually is in use. All I want to wait for now is a Nikon ultracompact that can record 720p HD movies.

I'm sure there's a "serious videophile" who'll claim to see some difference on his TV when using solid gold, jewel encrusted cables sheethed in the braided hairs of the firstborn daughters of a small town outside Vienna, but they're lying.
