Polaroid Heavy Duty L Shaped Bracket With Ball Head

I was looking for a flash bracket with a flexible mount capable of holding my flash at angles for macro photography. The Novoflex Flash Bracket with Padded Grip, Strap and Ball Head. is nice, but the price is very steep for a non-professional like me. Then I found this on Amazon. There were no reviews, but for thirteen bucks I thought it was worth a gamble.

I mounted my SB-600 to the ball head using a ePhoto SB800 Shoe mount Flash Adapter with 1/4-20 Thread and now I have a pretty nice and flexible arrangement for off-camera flash. This bracket does have a tripod mount in the bottom which I found other inexpensive brackets don't, and this is a must for me.

However, there are a couple negatives I found that keep me from giving this five stars. First is the odor it emits. There seems to be some sort of chemical in the rubber of the grip that hit me as soon as I cut the package open. Looking through the viewfinder of my D90 with this on I often hold my breath because with my nose so close it's almost unbearable. It even gave me a headache once. I'll try setting it outside in the sun for a day to see if it improves. My second issue is the ball head holds pretty well, but not perfectly. Occasionally it slips a bit. The knob to tighten the head is just a small metal ring and I'm afraid to put too much torque on it for fear of bending the ring.

So all in all I'm pretty happy with this. It's not pro quality, but I paid less than 1/5 the price of the pro one. And maybe over time the hazardous materials in the rubber will dissipate, hopefully without causing me any permanent health issues.

The best digital camera my husband and I ever owned was a Pentax W10 it lasted for years and took great photos.. very resilient. We figured that if a W10 is this great that a W80 would be even better but we were sadly mistaken after receiving our W80 and taking a few photos. At first, when all the photos we took turned out grainy I figured it was the settings that needed to be changed.

As a military photojournalist, I shoot daily with a Nikon D3, I know how to change settings and reduce the ISO to make the photo less grainy and even after I exhausted all changes to the settings, the photos were still unimpressive. We went outside thinking that more lighting would mean better focus and better photos but even they were a little soft and not that great.

I might recommend this for the outdoorsy type but for someone like my husband and I who are looking for a point-and-shoot camera that takes impressive photos (without fumbling through settings all the time) it was not for us. We are in the process of returning it.

I pre-ordered this camera to replacing an aging Canon. My main criteria was to have a camera that can be brought on ski trips; on the boat; canoe trips; and hiking. Used at the Grand Canyon and was very pleased with the quality of the pictures. (I am a casual user not a photographer). If you purchase this camera be sure to buy an additional battery! Would recommend spending about 15-20 minutes getting used to the camera before using in activities. Based on the reviews, the Canon is a better unit, but this one is slim and fits into ski jackets and life preservers.

I would have given it 5 stars, but I have to agree that there is some noise in average, everyday shots on this camera when taken with the automatic default settings.

The camera feels small and tough, and I haven't had the short battery life that others have commented on (seems like I get about 15 hours or so of off and on use per charge). It can take AMAZING shots if you take a little time to learn the settings. Manual macro shots of up-close items look terrific, and the panorama feature on this camera stitches separate pictures together better than my old Kodak 1063 did.

The underwater shots look pretty good, especially if taken on days with sufficient sunlight, and I'm not seeing any signs of the camera leaking.

Overall I'm really pleased with this little camera. It has a lot of neat features if you just take the time to learn about them. Originally I was deciding between this camera and an Olympus 1050sw, but my friend with the Olympus can't take shots that look nearly as good as what I've been able to take with my camera, so I'm very happy overall.

Just bought this camera given anticipated buzz.

Admittedly, I have not tried it underwater, or tested its ruggedness. But I am sending it back because it won't even take normal pictures accurately without graininess, blurriness and movement. Also, the delay is far too long, and image stabilization does not work accurately. Additionally, if subjects are moving, it's quite difficult to get a reasonable picture in low-ish light. To be fair, I tried a variety of mode settings including auto and a variety of manual settings, and frankly my iPhone took better pictures (without a flash!). In fact, the best pictures I took were in "green mode", and these were not really comparable to a generic 3-5 year old digital camera.

Maybe this camera has a niche use for underwater/etc only, but I had planned on taking "normal" pictures of reasonable quality with it as well, and I just couldn't find a way for this to work, so this is a non-starter for me.

I preordered this directly from Pentax, and I've had it for less than a week. I know someone with a W30 who is very happy with his, so I figured this would be much better. So far, I'm very disappointed. I'm comparing it to my Canon SD850 by shooting macro, interior and exterior scenes. I have left the settings in auto mode and set it to record highest quality. The W80 produces very noisy images. Flash results seem to be a bit erratic. Very poor image quality in low-light. Side-by-side photo comparisons on-screen show better images with my Canon.

I also figured that since there is no moving lens, the W80 would have excellent battery life. Canon battery is 1120-mAh and W80 is only 680-mAh. The actual battery life is commensurately poor. I can get by on a weekend trip with lots of photos with only a single battery in my Canon, but I'm sure I would need to take two or three with the Pentax.

I really wanted this camera to work out, but I'm about to send it back. Anybody else have some feedback on this camera??

PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh

I'm going to keep this simple. For 20.00 you can hook up your late model MAC (MacBook in my case) to your flatscreen. You do not need to get mini-dvi to dvi to HDMI as most of the forums recommend. Get this and I personally got the 10ft HDMI cable and set up the television as a dual monitor setup. Very Cool. If you have surround sound I would recommend getting the Toslink to optical mini-adapter as it is super easy to hook up your mac to surround sound also. It actually sounds better than cable and DVD's in my opinion. BTW, this item is plug and play. I did not have to set up anything software wise.

I am using this with a white 13 inch Macbook. Product works flawlessly, I get full 1080p resolution on my monitor. The build quality is decent.

BE CAREFUL!

I'm sure this item works fine but it does not fit my computer's port. I have a new macbook unibody which has the smaller MINI DISPLAY PORT. The older black or white macbooks have the larger MINI DVI PORT. Even by looking at the picture I couldn't tell which was which and so I took a chance and got it wrong. I now have to order a MINI DISPLAY PORT to HDMI for my computer.

NOTE: There is also a third size port: the MICRO DVI port which I believe is for the macbook air although it looks like the new airs have the MINI DESPLAY port according to apple.com.

I got this mostly to watch netflix instantly on my TV with my macbook. They have a special thing to do it, but this was cheeper, so I went with it. In fact, I'm typing on my TV right now! The HDMI cable IS black, not white, but I'm okay with that. It works. The quality is pretty good, but not fantastic, as you could expect from attaching your 13.3 inch macbook to an 42 inch TV screen. If you want to watch movies, you have to get another cable to use your TV's speakers with your macbook. I haven't gotten mine yet, but i found something around the house that I am using for now. This is a great deal, and i wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

Zeikos MB-D80 Vertical Multi-Power Battery Grip + 2 EN-EL3e Batteries + Accessory Kit for Nikon D80

This vertical grip is surprisingly well built. It makes a solid connection to the camera (in my case a D90 but it also works with a D80). The controls have a solid feel and there is a certainty when you push a button or turn a dial. The rubberized panel adds to the solid feel and provides a bit more "camera to hold on to." This is especially important if you are used to larger SLRs (e.g., D200).

A few years ago I bought an after-market battery grip (made by someone else) for my D200 and was very disappointed. It didn't connect solidly to the camera, the controls didn't always work, and the rechargeable batteries need to be inserted into a small tray and *that* was slid into the camera. I was concerned that all aftermarket vertical grips were made to that same low standard. My plan was to buy the "real" Nikon grip for my D90. However, after reading a lot of good things about this version decided to take a chance on this version. I'm glad I did.

Not only does it work perfectly but it also looks like the camera.

I can't imagine the Nikon grip could be made better or fit better.

Obviously this makes it more convenient to hold your camera in a vertical grip. Since it holds two rechargale batteries you can shoot longer before having to change them. It also include a carrier that allows you to use six AA batteries. This is handy if you ever find yourself with dead rechargeable batteries (and still manage to have the carrier with you).

Perhaps a lesser known benefit is that you get increased stability. This is due to the extra weight provided by the grip and battery. A final benefit is that you can use Da'Grip (as described in The Hot Shoe Diaries: Big Light from Small Flashes, a book every photographer should read), this is money well spent.

There are several grips available, most more expensive and a few less, that provide many or all of these same benefits. What makes this product stand out is that is has best-of-breed quality while remaining one of the least expensive.

If you want a vertical grip then this is the one to get. The only question is if you buy this package and get the extra stuff or of you just buy the grip alone: Zeikos ZE-NBG90 Battery Power Grip for Nikon D80 & D90.

I got this grip for my D90. Since the grip requires two batteries and I only had the one that came with the camera I figured I'd give this version a shot over the grip alone. The grip works just as advertised and provides better ergonomics for vertical shots. The batteries hold a charge just fine so far and the AA adapter works as well. The camera recognized the AA batteries automatically and showed the battery level for the two camera batteries like it's supposed to. I really like the extra capacity so I can set a long duration for the remote shutter release and use live view as much as I want.

I wouldn't recommend assigning too much value to the accessory kit although the blower works and the brush has fine bristles. The bulb smells like cheap rubber from China the kind where the smell never goes away...but don't let that hold you back from purchasing. Shipping by this seller was fast.

11/26/11 Update: I have been using this grip for a while and still recommend it with two caveats: 1) it's not really rigid enough to use with a tripod, especially with a longer lens as it adds a little unwanted motion. 2) I've been using a strap that connects to the tripod mount (and I really like the strap) but it doesn't work with the grip. Since the camera hangs from the bottom of the grip, the grip's electrical connections intermittently loose contact inside the camera so I have to wiggle it to turn on.

First of all the battery grip is good for the price. Of course the built quality is not close to that of Nikon brand. Nonetheless, the battery grip does what it is designed for. The transition between empty battery to full battery is smooth. However, after a year of use, I do notice some problems arising. First of all, during high humidity weather, the battery grip do have connection issues. Secondly, when it was new, the battery grip completely drains one battery before switch to another. However, after a year or so, I have noticed that the secondary battery can't held its charge while the primary battery is in use.

As for batteries it's a hit or miss situation, one of the battery works great, and is still kicking well a year of abuse. Meanwhile, the other battery started to have problems after two three months. The battery started to have transition problems, for example if the primary nikon battery drained completely, this third party battery work kick in. I had to remove the Nikon battery and restart the camera. After about 6 month later the battery died completely. Meanwhile the other third party battery still works fine.

I purchased this product about a year ago for $72 and its been working well. Fools the tools into thinking my D90 is a D3 especially when I put my Mamiya 645 120 Macro on it. But this aside this product is worth it for the batteries alone. I find they charge as quickly as Nikon's own and give me roughly the same number of shots. The best part is being able to take 2000k + pics and not have to worry about running dry or storing another Li-ion.

The grip itself is sturdy and reliable, makes for a much better shooting experience both vertically and horizontally. Makes gripping the camera easier in general with any type of lens espeacially heave glass. You can hold it walking around with out that feeling its going to slip out of your hand as your fingers can really secure themselves.

Strong enough to work on my Manfrotto with no torque shake and is even strong enough to carry around locked to your pod provided you have a metal shoe and trust your gear.

This is a review of the cable and the cable distributor Cable Matters since the package did come directly from them and not Amazon warehouse.

First, the cable does work as advertised, although only after a return and re-order because they shorted me by five-feet of the 15 with the first order.

Second, the cable is not exactly as advertised. In the picture the connectors are gently tapered and have the "Cable Matters" logo on slick plastic oval inserts. The actual cable connectors are plain black and rather block shaped. I have no doubt that sounds trivial to some people. But in my book this still constitutes a classic bait and switch.

I was baited with a product that had cool looking white plastic inserts that could actually aid me in locating the head of a cable in dim light.

I was switched to a product that I was not expecting.

To those who may scoff, I say consider this. This is no different than ordering a shirt of a certain color and getting a different color. It's the same style and the right size, but I wanted and ordered a specific color based on the advertising description and photos. If I wanted a different color I would have ordered such.

Well friends, if you have been searching for a bevy of great features, simplicity of use, great video and audio quality all in a micro-sized package, this unit may be the end of your search.

I had spent a great deal of time and effort comparing the various camcorders on the market before I made the move to the JVC Everio GZMG77 2.0MP CCD 30GB HDD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom several weeks ago. I was looking for a full featured product that would travel well, provide long operational time, give me plenty of built in functionality yet one that didn't bust my budget.

This unit has proven itself worthy across the board. The "77" is so small that I find myself forgetting that I am carrying it around in the palm of my hand. When things happen that I want to capture I just flip open the view screen and within a few seconds the "auto on" feature has my camera in hot stand-by ready for action as it unfolds. The (30GB) hard drive has proven sufficient to record a wedding, HS graduation, two trips to the beach, a weekend to Disneyland and stuff around the house with over three hours to spare (all in the ultrafine mode)!

Downloading and producing DVD's is a snap and the quality is superb even on my DLPLCD 16:9 format Display at home.

If your considering this unit I have a couple of (must have) recommendations for maximum usability with minimum of fuss:

First off get additional batteries. The one hour is small and light weight and last me around 45-50 minutes. I purchased two additional batteries. One is rated at 3 hours and the other at 5 hours (a little large on size but great run time)! This gives me more then enough "pocket power".

The second recommendation would be to purchase one of the many stand alone battery charges on the market. I ordered a battery and charger package on Amazon (ESPOW Equivalent JVC BN-VF714, BN-VF714U Battery and AC/DC Charger Set. [ 1400mAh ] ) This charger allows you to charge a battery without having to use the Camcorder itself. This particular model even provides AC or DC charging options.

Bottom line... I am very pleased with the JVC "77" and believe you will be too.

Bought this for a trip to southern Africa. It is my first camcorder I was always turned off by the idea of lugging around tapes or blank DVDs. I have used ultrazoom digital cameras for all my other trips, so I am familiar with making manual adjustments for different situations.

I was amazed at 1) how easy the Everio was to learn and use, 2)how small and light it is, and 3) the large storage capacity of the HDD.

I had to set manual adjustments for lighting and exposure a lot of the time. The AUTO setting is best when it's bright sunlight and fairly even brightness of objects other times of the day, or when there are dark AND light objects in the field of view, you're better off using MANUAL. Video I shot at sunset and sunrise came out good with very little grain, but it is best if you use MANUAL setting and keep the camera stable.

The zoom control is pretty sensitive takes some getting used to being careful about how fast you zoom the lens.

Would have liked this model to have a light for night video rather than just a flash for still photos.

The battery recharged quickly and I bought a second one from a third party. The battery life is as advertised, which isn't bad considering the power it must take to run the big LCD display and the hard drive.

I think the video quality is excellent. Incorporated the video along with digital stills into a travel DVD we produced. The quality when displayed on my large LCD flat panel TV is great. (Remember though that this is NOT an HD camcorder.)

On my trip, I ran into a fellow who had the new Everio model with the 3CCD sensors. Our videos of the same scenes looked very similar in quality.

It's simple to edit the video files with the supplied Cyberlink software. Upgrade to the full version is reasonably priced compared to buying Adobe Premiere Elements.

Overall, I thought this was a good first camcorder purchase. I'll carry it along on other trips.

This unit has a very user friendly interface and is very easy to figure out for the average consumer. I work in the motion picture industry as a cameraman, so I do have a unique perspective. It does take a while to figure out the software and the the best way to download the video, but once you get it, it's as good as apple pie. The one downside is this unit's operating temperature. It gets very hot the longer it's powered. But that's the price you have to pay with a hard drive camcorder this small. Even with the state of the art Professional High Definition cameras in the motion picture industry, you still have over heating issues as well as power consumption issues. Eventually this will be solved, but for now, this is as good as it gets.

The zoom is incredible. The camera's multi shot works great. The colors recorded are perfect, the sound great. I can record up to 8 hours (depending on battery life)and combine still shots and video on one recording.

Totally awesome. The best camera/camcorder I have seen after weeks of detailed research.

If you want quality and a reasonable price, buy this one.

P.S. If you are a Mac user and want to import these videos into iMovie i have found the perfect app. (note: i have no affiliation with them). I searched around for weeks and tried every app i could get a demo for and I have to share that VisualHub by techspansion is the best of the best. it was effortless to install and use. I didnt change any defaults and it converted the widescreen .mods perfectly into dv format which i then imported into imovie. the jvc included app Capty does not do this, it squashes the dv files and you are forced to use other means to get the aspect right.

visual hub is also universal binary and thus very fast on the mac...

the demo is free and i highly recommend it to mac users.

until iMovie can read .mod files i can live with this one extra step!

I got this LCD hood for my Canon 60D. It worked out great! I use it 90% of the time when I shoot video. It works very well for stopping glare. I even use it inside too. This makes a great addition to any LCD viewer. I highly recommend it to anyone who does video work.

I took a chance that this LCD hood would fit my sony CX-150 since it calls out 2.7" LCD hood.

Well, no problem. It is a bit loose up and down but it is not going to fall off. nice and snug. Works great and would recommend it to anyone. Looks cool on the camera. If your in doubt the measurement for the fit to the LCD looks to be 3/8-1/2" x 2"ish by of course 2.75" width. Hope this helps.

I was having a difficult time deciding between this hood (fits 2.7" LCD's) and the RainbowImaging 3.5" LCD Hood, because I own a Canon Vixia camcorder that has a 3" LCD. Would this 2.7" be too small, or the 3.5" too big? Suddenly it was a Goldilocks/porridge situation. I took a chance and bought this one and, despite the fact that the photo (at the lead of this page) shows it a poor fit over a 3" LCD, it does, in fact fit and has just enough room to accommodate the actual LCD panel without blocking any part of it. Yes, the frame enclosure around the Canon LCD panel does stick out beyond the hood (just like the photo shows), but it doesn't affect the functionality, and the appearance looks just fine. I can only speculate that the 3.5" LCD Hood may have been too loose and, perhaps, slid all over the place. Anyhow, thumbs up for this LCD Hood by Cowboy Studio. It's rugged, well stitched leatherette over (I'm guessing) some stiff, thick cardboard, with super strong velcro holding the flap in place. It stays snug on the LCD panel, yet can slide off if you choose, or unclasp the velcro and take it off that way. Btw, I had it, along with several other Amazon items, shipped with "FREE Super Saver Shipping" (a 5-8 day wait) and the entire purchase arrived by UPS on day 5, all packed/boxed quite well with no problems and no shipping charges!

Wasn't sure what to expect since it's about 1/3 the canon name brand hood; but then again, it's a hood and I wasn't too concerned about it. For $8 this is a fantastic hood! It's probably the same one as the canon name brand, except it has JJC branded into it rather than Canon. Leather/Pleather exterior with a nice velvet cloth interior. Whatever cardboard is in between the materials to hold the form is pretty sturdy. Fits very snug around my camcorder LCD screen. Been tugging on the two folding flaps to try and get some stretch to make it a little looser, so far seems to be working very well and it's not in danger of tearing. Doesn't block any of the screen or the set and function buttons on the side. However, it will render the pause/play, stop, playlist, and rec/playback buttons on the bottom useless. The only one of those I use is the rec/playback switch button, and that's just to check if I need to reshoot a scene or something. If you use the remote, then it's not an issue. Great for shooting outdoors.

Only real con is the shipping was almost as much as the product.

I purchased this camera as a replacement while on vacation. After less than a month it would not charge. When I contacted customer support I was told I needed a new battery because most likely I had overcharged the camera and should not leave it charging more that 2 hours. I purchased a new battery and it worked ok for 2 months. I removed the memory card to upload photos to my computer and now the Nikon S4100 won't power up again. Not work the trouble to get yet another battery. The Casio Exilm I lost was much, much better.

I have been really happy with this camera. The first one I ordered stopped charging correctly after the first day, but I was able to send it back for a replacement, and my new one has been working great. Sure, the night pictures aren't the best, but you're not going to find much better in a camera in this price range.

The camera turns on very fast which I like, however if you're using flash sometimes you have to wait a bit before you can take the next picture. I also had some trouble with blurry pictures at first, but I discovered the non-hand shake mode and once it was turned on my camera took great pictures.

I really like the simplicity of the buttons, especially the video record button. While it takes a couple seconds to actually start recording, it's fun to just be able to hit the record button to start a video. Some people had problems with the touch screen, but I think it works great. My phone is also a touch screen so I may just be used to how to use them, but I think it is very responsive. Plus, I think the plum color of the actual camera looks really good.

While the camera does have a few time-to-shoot issues (which is why I give it a 4 and not a 5), all in all, I think it's a great, fun camera for this price range.

I love my new camera! I haven't finished reading the user manual because it has so many features. I went to Universal Orlando and everyone was impressed with not only how easy it was to use the camera but how beautiful the colors were. The zoom feature is great. The best part is how large the screen is. It is so slim and I love the stylus that comes with the camera so you can see your pics. The only problem I had was that I didn't purchase a memory card so after 4 pics, I had no memory left and had to purchase a memory card at the park (ouch at the price!!) I would highly recommend this camera to everyone who is looking for an affordable yet high quality, beautiful pics!!

I bought the S4100 3 weeks ago to take on a vacation to europe. It looked small and had a touch screen and the picture quality was ok. I wasn't looking for anything special.

Out of the box the touchscreen seemed unresponsive but once again not a deal breaker. I had a small camera with a solid zoom and decent MegaPixel quality

However, I stand here 3 weeks and day later in Rome with a useless hunk of junk.

First it started with the lens errors. Then the battery became exhausted even though it was showing that I had a full battery. I took pristine care of this camera and made sure that I never charged it too long or let it drop anywhere.

Now the battery won't charge and the camera won't turn on. Absolute lemon and if you don't believe me read through some of these other reviews and you will notice a theme.

Save yourself the time and trouble.

This a nice camera, however I think the Touch screen does not work like it should. It doesn't sense the the touch of finger as well as it should although the camer does take good pictures and the touch screen settings takes a little while to get used to.

Tiffen Steadicam Pilot-AA Camera Stabilization System (Sled, Vest, Arm, Back Pack Transport, 5.8" L

I received everything in a big shipment box with everything in perfect condition.

Been using the Steadicam pilot, arm and vest for about 6 months shooting convention videos and so far it's been perfect. The hardest part about using the pilot is to have it properly balanced, whether top or bottom heavy. Since every user will use it for different purposes it will take some time to practice and figure out how you want to use it.

Have been using it for a few months already, its been with me to over 60 shoots. big and small and works flawlessly. Easy to balance. Easy to operate. Steadicam itself, not one of those cheap-o indian or chinese rigs.

If your looking to invest into one of these, I do reccomend you go with the Flyer. 20lb capacity is MUCH better, its biting me in the ass right now, but its still good if your into simplicity. Considering my dslr rig consists of a huge matte box, lots of rails, big follow focus, big lens, etc

Note you WILL need a c-stand with this, no grip arm required. Just to balance it.

The camera has pretty good night vision and clarity but it's field of view is VERY poor. It really does not cover the area I want in most places I need cameras so I had to get some other ones for certain spots. Overall a good camera but except about at least a 10 foot blind circle below the camera in an average size room.

Great camera. Was somewhat easy to setup (I work in the computer field). May be a little harder for a novice to setup, but if they get detailed instructions from website it should be easier. The video is very impressive (with an AMD Radeon with 256MB), just make sure you have a good video card (my laptop has an Intel video with 64MB and the video isn't that great).

Before installing, go to the manufacturers website and download the updated software (setup/searcher, viewer and manual). Beware, there are 2 websites (a .net and a .com). Make sure you go to the .com. The .net is either fake or some other company. You will not find this camera on the .net site.

One more thing. If you buy another model make sure it is a model from the .com manufacturer (the .net site has similar cameras with similar model numbers).

For outdoor use search YouTube for making your own acrylic dome, not hard.

I will be buying another 3 cameras soon.

Good product, does what it is supposed to, but you have to tighten it quite a bit, raising fears of breakage due to the tightening knob being made of plastic. Also, the ends to which accessories are mounted were not pivoting all the way to a 90degree angle as the metal "wire" thing that probably helps in keeping it all nice and tight had slide out, but was a quick fix with a screw driver, now it is good to go.

Love it, it work well with my rode video mic, my digital audio recorder and all my other accessories. the metal construction is awesome which means it's a a great build.

definitely recommend anyone looking for something like this.
