Digital Concepts 4.1 MegaPixel Digital Camera W/ 1.5' Preview Screen

Digital Concepts 4.1 MegaPixel Digital Camera W/ 1.5' Preview ScreenI will have to play a bit more with this camera but I suspect it will be going back for a refund by the end of the week. This camera takes wonderful indoor photographs with flash, very clear. Although at the highest resolution the photos are less than 500k and I would expect something more like 2mb.

However, I purchased the (cheap) camera to take on trips so I could leave my pricier unit at home. It doesn't take clear outdoor photos at least not in the way I snap outdoor photos. I didn't think I was moving the camera and I am not inexperienced with a camera, but every outdoor shot was blurry. I must attribute this to a slow shutter. It was very sunny while testing the camera to see if I like it so there is no excuse for this. I would not recommend.

This camera is hard to use and takes pictures that are not clear and most appear blurry no matter how hard you try to stay still. Don't waste your money. This was a gift for my daughter, but she is very disappointed and this camera will go back.

We bought this camera for our daughter at Walmart when we were on vacation. We didn't expect the world of it, but we did think it would be functional. For outdoor scenery shots it was usable, but for indoor shots it is atrocious. Every picture is blurry, no matter how still you're holding the camera. I bought a Sanyo S1070 the very same day for myself, and in comparing photos of the same subjects in the same setting, the difference is so obvious.

There are also functional delays which irritate her and make it difficult to use. She has to reset the flash every time she snaps, and when she doesn't use the flash it stops her with a warning screen which irritates her. The little "hold this camera steady" screen actually interrupts the image so you can't really see if it IS steady. Even for a nine-year-old's "starter" camera, we expected much more.

If there is a way to create a worse camera, I don't know what that way is.

This unit has a cheesy monitor screen on the back that hardly allows you to focus upon your subject. Imagine watching television back in the 60s when you only had rabbit ears and were trying to watch a show from a network that was far away. All that you could see was more fuzz than picture. That's what you get on this camera. Try to take pictures like that. It's like trying to shoot in the dark.

Then, try the "auto-focus" on this unit. You think you see your image, you click the shutter button, you wait... and wait... and wait, and, oh, now the camera takes the picture. Try taking pictures like that. It doesn't work.

Then, try to download your new pictures (that you haven't been happy with in the first place) onto your computer. This camera says that it creates 4.1 MP photos, but it sure doesn't look that way on the computer.

Do NOT buy this camera. It looks cheesy. It performs pathetically. It fails almost every way that it can. Oh, I should mention that the camera color is a glossy, attractive color. (There, I said something positive.) The good thing is that this unit is barely heavy and small enough to make a decent paper weight.

DXG USA DXG-535VP HD Riviera 720p High-Definition Camcorder Luxe Collection, Pink

DXG USA DXG-535VP HD Riviera 720p High-Definition Camcorder Luxe Collection, PinkFor the price and design, my fiance loved it. It was perfect and the price can't be beat. Hi resolution is what we needed for our time away from each other. I got her a 32G memory card and it was perfect for easy transfer to a computer to put on a dvd disc. Highly recommended for just the casual or regular video maker=-)

I absolutely love this camera! First off, it is too cute! Pink with rhinestones!!! The carry case is also adorable! I've gotten so many compliments on the look of this camera! And it takes pretty good video too! Love it!

This is a gift for my 9yr. old daughter. She loves the studded design, color and case. She used it for Christmas and loved the picture quality and easy handling. She loved being able to connect the camera to the TV, PC, and her labtop. The CD disk with a video editing program was great as well.

I have had issues with DXG in the past. Item functions great, then malfunctions or stops working after a few uses and nothing to explain why. No bumps or drops, they just stop functioning. I advised against the purchase, but my daughter wanted "pink". Now she's unhappy and I have to scramble for new "satisfactory color" camera before vacation.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera Body & EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens with 75-300mm III Lens +

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera Body & EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens with 75-300mm III Lens + 16GB Card + .45x Wide Angle & 2x Telephoto Lenses + Battery + Remote + Filters + Tripod + Accessory KitI was little skeptical to order this Canon DSLR bundle because there was not any review for this bundle. I finally made my mind to order by merely looking at Seller's profile and product details. And thankfully I can say I got a great deal. All the products are delivered on time as promised.

This camera is awesome and very good for the people who are looking to shift to DSLR from point-n-shoot. As far as whole bundle is concerned it has good combination of products such as branded memory card, cleaning kit, remote, battery, UV protection and camera carrying bag. The stand is also of good quality. In short I am happy with bundle that I have opted for....

I've been hoping to upgrade from my Canon XT (350D) for some time and have gone back and and forth on all of the options. I finally read a review on the T3i which basically said that you'd be nuts not to get this camera after all, people were paying thousands of dollars for the 1D Mark ii when it came out and this is far more capable. I remember dreaming about that camera and wishing I could afford one ... and now, here is the T3i and it's far more affordable and incredibly capable. It persuaded me that this would be enough camera for now! I don't have to spend thousands of dollars to get the top of the line camera because this one more than performs!

I took it out on a test run last week and I used the 18-55 IS II lens that's included in this package. The lens performs amazingly well also. I wish it had a little more range (I'm used to an 18-70, but I have really worn that lens out, which is why I wanted a package that included a new lens and this lens has been rated really well!) I'm really happy with the photos I've taken with this combination and will definitely keep using this lens.

I highly recommend this combination, especially if you need a full kit to start shooting!

We recently thought to switch from regular digital camera,Sony Cyber-shot to a DSLR camera!!! So we were researching a bit on which one we should go for. Amazon is indeed an amazing website that we found it so helpful to compare different products and select the right one based on our requirements. We finally decided to go for Canon T3i bundle that comes with 75-300mm lens and other accessories. It was a big investment in camera for us. We specially want to thank the seller for being so honest to send all the items of great quality and also for keeping the promise. We got exactly what was posted online. Everything was in great condition when we received these items. The camera is amazingly good and takes very cool pictures. We were stunned when we saw images form this camera. Now every weekend we have different theme for photography! I strongly recommend this seller and the camera as well.

Photography is a great fun...We love it...

i just received this today so all the photo's i took were on automatic settings, but the auto mode on this camera does a very fine job and i was very happy with the photos! of course i upgraded from a fuji s4000 with a fixed lens so the quality difference is huge! with the 300mm at full zoom i took a photo of some turkeys a few hundred yards away and after cropping the photo on my computer i can the turkey pretty well! the quality was not as good as the other photos, but still acceptable for me! i have not tried the lens doubler yet because of things i read online saying the wrong one can damage your camera when used on the canon rebel? the lens did come with the kit so it should be compatible, but i don't know if i want to risk it? Cameta store was great items were packaged well and i really enjoy shopping with Amazon, but the USPS is another matter! i upgraded to priority shipping and the item was shipped the next day and still took a full week to travel the 200 miles to my house? over all very happy with this camera! was consider the nikon D5100 also when i purchased this, but i have no regrets!

Pentax Optio RZ10 14 MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with CCD Shift Stabilization and 2.7-I

Pentax Optio RZ10 14 MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with CCD Shift Stabilization and 2.7-Inch LCDI'm baffled by the other reviews, but this isn't the first time a consumer electronic device has worked great for me but received poor marks from other buyers. Heaven forbid I accuse any other person of operator error, but I entertain the possibility that maybe things work well for some but not for others, without necessarily being defective by design. Also, megapixels aren't everything.

I don't need to qualify myself as a super-competent photographer with tons of really expensive gear, because you don't care. You might even prefer to hear that I'm an incompetent photographer, given my success with this camera, as evidence that this one is easy to use.

Because, regardless, the camera's function is great. I have taken images of moving animals, scenes at dusk, done some astrophotography, used the 1cm macro function extensively to photograph stuff I was selling, etc. etc. I've put it through its paces, and compared captured images directly with those taken by other cameras I use, and am impressed with the quality this one puts out. Sensor and optics: great. Interface: great. Form factor and electronics: great. Zoom feature for a camera this size: bonus! Many of the controls are easy and intuitive. Where they aren't, there are several different ways to save capture settings. No, this camera doesn't introduce inordinate noise into your images.

I got this camera just few days ago but I had a full weekend to test it. Overall I like it however it has some minor disadvantages. First of all I must say that I am a PENTAX user, I used to use PENTAX MZ-7 (analog SLR camera with zoom 28-300 mm) and right now I also use PENTAX K100D Super, RZ10 is my second camera for quick shots and travels.

RZ10 has very extensive menu that allows using automatic mode (I do not recommend) and P-program mode in which you can choose all important settings you wish (WB, ISO, brightness, saturation, format (4:3, 19:6), resolution, ect. The most critical for this camera is ISO which above 400 gives quite a lot of grains (I do not recommend use above 400).

Zoom is excellent, very quick and precise; a color pallet gives a natural projection. HD movies are really nice but the microphone is too sensitive picking up the wind noise too much.

It is maybe because I used it very extensively throughout the weekend but battery last only one day of shooting approximately 200 pictures.

All in all I like it, since pictures in daylight are very natural, menu gives a good selection of different settings, and zoom is precise (x10).

I'm quite pleased with this camera. I am not a photographer nor am i interested in becoming one so my first criteria was "Is it user friendly." I like the easy to use menu; the icons take all of the guesswork out of getting the correct setting for a picture. Best of all, I found the operating manual to be very well written, which allowed me to explore various functions I might not have tried otherwise.

InFocus IN2112 Meeting Room DLP Projector, 3D ready, SVGA, 3000 Lumens

InFocus IN2112 Meeting Room DLP Projector, 3D ready, SVGA, 3000 LumensWe have used this projector in an open space venue during day time. The images were clear and crisp. We are very satisfied with this product.

This is my first digital projector, and I'm impressed with its design and image quality, but there are immediate things I've encountered that frustrate me. First, the product is clearly marketed as compatible with both PC's and Macs. I have Macs, and because of this a special cable is required to connect the projector to either the iMac or (more typically) my MacBook Pro. This cable is not included, of course. It is, apparently, only available from InFocus (I checked 2 local computer stores), and costs $59 plus $10 shipping. The remote does not come with even marginal Chinese batteries; the pair of AA's must be purchased separately. The projector's menu is not bad to use, but is touchy to maneuver on the projector top controls. There is no way that I've found to increase or decrease the size of the image on the screen without moving the projector closer or further away. Finally, it's not as quiet as would have liked despite the marketing claim for "quiet operation". Other brands must be very loud. I'll likely get used to it, and when my M1-DVI cable arrives I'll be able to use it as I'd like, but I didn't expect the frustrations I've had so far.

My church purchased two of these projectors in January 2011 and are completely satisfied. Our auditorium has windows and it has always been difficult to watch videos in the morning with the sunlight shining brightly on the stage. We bought these projectors because of the 3000 lumens brightness, and they have paid for themselves time and time again. The picture is crisp and clear, and super bright as well. Easy menus to navigate, and super easy to set up. I have been purchasing InFocus products for quite a while now, and have never been disappointed. I will continue using InFocus products as long as I can.

I used the InFocus IN 2112 a couple of times; then it died. I was not impressed. Sent the unit back for a refund.

On the positive side, the unit comes with a very nice carrying case and cables tied up neatly with velcro straps.

Pentax K-r 12.4 MP Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Black Body)

Pentax K-r 12.4 MP Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCDOver the past four years, I've owned an *ist DL, a K100D and a K2000. The new Pentax K-r feels like a huge improvement over its already excellent predecessors.

NEW FEATURES:

The most obvious improvements are the great new features. The K-r now has a dedicated focus assist lamp. In short, it's unintrusive compared to a strobing popup flash and it works great. I can't believe it took Pentax this long to give us this feature.

The K-r also supports both a proprietary lithium ion battery and AA batteries. You'll have to find a special adapter to use AA batteries though. Unfortunately, Pentax didn't bundle the adapter with the body.

K-x users will also be familiar with the in-camera HDR feature. The K-r includes several HDR settings including auto, standard, strong 1, strong 2, and strong 3. HDR mode is easily accessed by pressing the Info button.

Movie mode is available once again, but it's still not particularly robust. You can shoot in 720p at 25fps, which is an odd frame rate. AF isn't available while you're shooting, but I've found that manual focusing is easy enough with the right lens. I didn't have any problems with my FA 35mm.

Auto white-balancing is greatly improved over the K100D and the K2000 also. You can now shoot in tungsten light without having to manually set the WB. No more horribly yellow photos indoors followed by extremely blue photos outdoors when you forget to white balance again!

Finally, my favorite new feature is the selectable 11-point AF. When it's enabled, you can press the OK button to bring up the point selection interface and use the arrow keys to select your focus point. When you're done, press and hold the OK button to close the menu so you can use the arrow keys for other shortcuts again.

INTERFACE:

With each new release, Pentax's interface has improved and the K-r is no exception. For people coming from the older *ist DL and K100D bodies, you'll immediately notice that the four arrow buttons now have double purposes. Instead of pressing FN + right to get to the ISO menu, you just need to press the right arrow button. Users of the K2000 will find the interface very familiar, but still improved. The Info button now brings up the grid of commonly used settings such as HDR modes, JPG/RAW, metering settings, AF mode, etc. Each setting is represented with an icon or text label and moving the cursor over the setting allows you to quickly cycle through the different modes using the dial. It's similar to pressing the OK button the K2000, but now with more options and fewer button presses.

When you preview your last JPG photo, you also get the option to save it as raw. This only works with the last photo taken, probably because the camera only stores the raw data for one photo at a time. This is a great feature for those who prefer to shoot in JPG and still occasionally use raw.

BUILD QUALITY:

The build quality of the K-r is as solid as every previous Pentax dSLR body that I've owned. The battery compartment latch is slightly improved over the K2000 and the K100D. It's a little hard to describe the new latch, but it's easy to use and much harder to accidentally open.

PERFORMANCE:

I loved the low light performance of my K100D and I enjoyed the newer interface and faster AF of my K2000. The K-r again gets the best of both worlds with very clean photos at ISO 1600 and even faster and more decisive autofocus. It's also now capable of shooting at 6fps in continuous mode.

OVERALL:

The Pentax K-r has really exceeded my expectations. The improved performance combined with the new features makes the K-r a joy to use. It's an excellent entry-level dSLR that it will satisfy even more seasoned photographers who want a compact spare body.

I upgraded from the Pentax K-2000 to the Pentax K-R. I have only had the camera a few days but I already have a good impression.

First, the LCD display is good, really good. A huge upgrade from the one on the Pentax K-2000. With this screen it is easy to verify the right focus, love it.

The camera is very fast. Fast at focusing, talking the pictures and fast going through the menus. Now, activate some of the special features like filters or lens distortion correction and things slow down. I think it is a fair exchange.

The camera brings a new battery that last a LONG time. In theory you could use AA batteries but you need a $35.00 adapter that the camera did not bring. I'm not going to spend $35 for an adapter, I would rather pay for another battery for that money. Pentax dropped the ball on this one.

The visible focus points make a BIG difference. I had defaulted the K-2000 to center only focusing to avoid problems. I had been doing this for so long that I didn't realize how useful it would be to have an 11 point focus system. This is a big improvement.

Live view is a LOT faster than the reviews give it credit for. I had NO PROBLEMS telling people to pose and using the face recognition in live view to take the picture. Once you focus it does a zoom in on the focus point for a second. I like the feature as it lets me verify focus.

The biggest surprise was the low light capabilities of the camera. I can shoot at ISO 1600 without having to worry about noise. Even if I shoot RAW there is not much noise to talk about at ISO 1600. ISO 3200 is still very usable and with some Photoshop using Raw files they are easy to make usable for 8 X 11 pictures. The K-R is a HUGE improvement from the K-2000 in this area.

Build and Handling: It feels just like a K-2000 and from the outside it has few differences. The biggest change was the menus as they have been GREATLY improved making finding and changing settings very easy. The camera is still noisy and in a quiet environment it will be noticed as you take the picture. Since I shoot a lot in Church environments I would have rather have a silent camera.

Low Point: The video is not really a big feature. Mono sound, you can only record up to 20 minutes as the sensor heats up too much, 25 fps, no automatic refocus, no aperture control after the movie starts. In short, don't buy the K-R for the movie mode, that is just a basic feature in the camera. Live view is the REAL improvement.

So I find the K-R a very good upgrade from the K-2000. The pictures look great and the low light pictures are excellent. Only two issues are the basic video feature and the lack of the AA adapter in the package. The fast focus, fast shooting, improve LCD, visible focus points, amazing low light pictures and live view make the K-R a great upgrade for K-2000 users.

Buy Pentax K-r 12.4 MP Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Black Body) Now

As a Canon 5DII shooter needing a compact SLR for hiking or backup on trips I got a good deal on this K-r and immediately set out to find fault with it. I had the box ready to send it back. My nitpicking was in vain; I like this little guy!

I let my Pentax K20D go to my son to get more pics of the grandkids out of him, leaving me without a Pentax body. I already own a couple of Pentax digital lenses, and I thought that a compact DSLR was preferable to holding a miniature camera out like a baby with a dirty diaper to compose, or dealing with one of several miserable electronic viewfinders.

The K-r has a bigger, clearer LCD screen than the K20D, image quality is noticeably better in the shadows than the K20D, and the penta-mirror optical viewfinder competes well with its CaNikon peers (at this price level). The ergonomics fit me fine, and the interface is very simple. In fact, I am familiar with Canon and Nikon SLR's and I find the Pentax interface to be straightforward and well thought-out. LiveView is very smooth in use, and is a great help in focusing a manual-focus lens, such as for macro use.

Unlike my Canon 5D2, proper exposure reads in the middle, without any underor overexposure that I can see. If colors look too cartoonish for you, simply select the Natural jpg mode. As other reviewers say, there IS a tendency to blow out strong highlights. If the picture is that important to you, shoot RAW and be extra careful. Setting minus Exposure Compensation and processing for the highlights (Adobe Camera RAW) should not cause noisy shadows with the K-r. Set the K-r to shoot your RAWs in the DNG format, and do your processing in ACR. In my testing, hot spots in the scene, such as a sunlit white wall, really do show up hot. You must adjust for that with ANY camera. Also, you will have SOME blown specular highlights with any digital camera in some situations. Finally, use at least a Class 6 card, or it'll be slow writing to the card.

In summary, the K-r is compact (especially with the DA 21 or DA 70 pancake lenses) and competent. It's a pleasure to carry around in a small bag. It is feather-light without being at all flimsy. Great buys in Pentax lenses for the K-r include the new 35mm f2.4, the old FA 35mm f2, the F and FA 50's, and the F and FA 28's. The 55-300 tele zoom is decent, but don't expect Canon L performance ($350 lens vs $1,200). If you MUST have a zoom, an excellent choice would be Tamron's 17-50 f 2.8. The Tammie is significantly better than the Pentax kit zoom, which is, in turn, not junk, just a cheap zoom. Don't shell out for the Tamron Image Stabilization; get the non-IS version. You already have in-body IS with the K-r.

The Pentax K5, for double the money, gets you a brighter viewfinder, better weather-sealing, better high ISO images and bigger files. At about $550, The K-r is a good buy. You can expect the price to come down even more as the next "latest and greatest" comes out.

Ordered this camera from Emmy Photo. The original camera that I was sent had the light meter calibration off by more than 2 stops. Sent back and promptly received a replacement unit. The LED display on this second unit began to fail within a matter of weeks. Emmy will not take back the second camera, so am sending back to Pentax.

Note added in postscript: I contacted Pentax today regarding warranty service, and was told that I was responsible for shipping and insurance costs sending this unit back to them for repairs. I was further told that I should expect turnaround of up to 4 weeks.

When I requested free shipping and exchange for a new unit given that I had been sent two defective units in a row, I was told that "this is not Pentax's warranty policy".

Want Pentax K-r 12.4 MP Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Black Body) Discount?

From the factory, the K-r front focusing was really bad (tested 3 lens: 18-55mm f3.5-5.6, 28-90mm f3.5-5.6, and 35mm f2.4). I had to AF Fine Adjust to -10. I then found a nifty app called PK_Tether, which allows you to put Pentax cameras (K-x, K7, K5, K-r, K20D, K10D, K200) into debug mode. That enables you to get to the Debug menu and do AF calibration. I am not sure what the max is but I went as high as -19. You would want to reset the AF Fine Adjustment to 0 before using the calibration. That way you can do fine adjustment from the calibrated setting.

Other than the front focusing issue, the K-r could use the individual AF fine adjustment setting for up to 20 lens feature available on the K7 and K5. Otherwise, the K-r is a great camera with the fix mentioned above.

Nikon Coolpix L18 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Navy)

Nikon Coolpix L18 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomMy wife and I just recently replaced our Sony DSC-W5 (5 megapixel) camera with this one, and here are our impressions so far:

1) The Anti-Shake AE is something new for us, as the DSC-W5 didn't have it. Actually, we would get blurry pictures all the time in low-light situations with the DSC-W5 (which did not have Anti-Shake AE), and the new Nikon L18 does not seem to have as much trouble as the old camera did. Low light pictures seem to come out great.

2) This camera removed red-eye in the camera AUTOMATICALLY. You don't know how much of a time saver this is! My old DSC-W5 took crappy pictures when we turned on the red-eye protection, and the L18's pictures are MUCH better with the anti red-eye.

3) This camera does a better job of focusing on people than my old DSC-W5 did. It was pretty impressive to see multiple focal points on the easy-shoot mode. The focus was spot-on.

4) The colors are bright and vibrant. Much more so than my old DSC-W5.

5) The screen on this camera is HUGE. We love the sharpness and brightness on it.

6) It supports the new SD-HC cards. That means we can put the new 4GB and 8GB cards in it, and aren't limited to just the 2GB ones.

7) The Video capture (640x480 VGA) takes great, sharp AVI video captures. Great for those times where you don't have your camcorder available.

8) There is some limited internal memory in case your memory card gets full!

9) You can have any picture come up on the startup screen. So we took a picture of our name and phone number, put it in the internal memory, and set it as the start up picture. That way, any honest person that finds our camera has the info to return it.

All in all, this is no SLR or any other high end camera, but it does well what we need it to do capture our four children and the wonderful moments in their lives.

I have enjoyed my Coolpix L18! It's a great camera! I purchased it after purchasing the L14 as a gift for a family member and hearing the continuous 'bubbling' reviews about it. The L18 is easy to use and also download your photos! Although I have had no problems with my L18, I have a word of CAUTION concerning Nikonshould you have any problems arise with their product, return it immediately!!! The Coolpix L14 Gift had an 'error' within the first 3 months. Following the troubleshooting directions, it appeared to correct itself. Unfortunately, 5 months later the identical problem occurred again. This time I retrieved the gift and returned it for repair under its one year warranty. Nikon has failed to honor their warranty. We were, however, able to reach their agreement to pay half of the original quoted repair cost. Had it not been a gift that has been thoroughly enjoyed, I would not have given in to the blackmail. Although the cameras are wonderful, the warranty is 'just a piece of paper.' Nikon has left a stain on its wonderful product line. I enjoy my L18 camera, but should anything go afoul, I will not go through that ordeal with Nikon again.

This was a great camera, but unfortunately the key word is "WAS". I purchased the camera for general shooting, nothing fancy, and it worked great. I replaced my Fujifilm FinePix with this Nikon Coolpix. I enjoy the thinner design, making it easier to keep in a small purse. The red shell adds nothing to the photos, but I'll take that over a dull gray any day. Aside from aesthetics, there are many features packed into this stylish hardware, probably more than I've fully utilized. As with any digital camera, the most important feature is point and shoot picture taking. I hate the cameras that have 17+ picture modes and the rotating "option wheel" on top. 99 times out of 100 I am just turning the camera on and snapping a shot... I don't need to change any shutter settings. This Nikon has a handy toggle on top that allows for picture taking, picture viewing, or video taking.

The large LCD screen is vibrant and makes it easy to view photos. It saves space by eliminating the old-fashioned "eye hole," which is fine with me because I rarely use it anyway. I'll take the larger LCD. Red-eye was always a problem with my Fujifilm, but this Nikon did a great job of eliminating it; every photo seemed very clear and bright.

I've also used the video feature a few times. Unlike my Fujifilm, you can actually zoom in and out while taking video. Video quality is nothing spectacular, but it is tolerable for short clips.

Downloading the pictures and videos to my computer was a snap. Again, Nikon won big points with me because this is the easiest camera I've used... and one of the cheapest too.

However, as I mentioned earlier, there was a catch. After only 4 months of use, my photos began to have a hazy ring around them. It looked like there was some fog or a smudge on the lens. I've wiped the lens carefully, but the problem remains, causing me to believe that this problem somehow lies inside the camera lens a problem I, of course, can't solve without having to call the distributor and get the run-around on how to get it fixed, despite my free one-year warranty-with-purchase. A digital camera that takes blurry photos is no better than a paper weight, even if the paper weight is colorful and shiny. Either the lens is out of alignment or my entire family has developed astigmatism.

I own this camera for two weeks now, buying it as a replacement for a 5-year-old Canon S400 (4MP) as the battery is dying, and it was not that good when new either to consider a replacement. The first few pictures I took from the L18 disappointed me but I gave it the benefit of the doubt citing my inexperience with Nikon products. After trying to like it for 2 weeks, I gave in! While I do not know the relation between this and the L14, I have to agree with most of the low rating reviews on the L14, and perhaps more. Here are my overall impression with limited testing:

1. Slow shutter speed: from the time you fully press the shutter button (after focusing) to the time the camera clicks to the time it actually captures the picture is long, very long. In the first few pictures I moved the camera thinking it was done only to have the wrong frame captured. This, albeit irritating, I can get used to. But trying to take kids' expressions can be challenging. Not to mention if you ask someone else to take your family picture while on vacation etc.

2. Un even focusing: 7 people lining across the width of the frame, only the middle three are in clear focus, it degrades from there. This is both with no zoom and 1/2 zoom, Auto mode.

3. Washed out color: I spent a lot of time testing indoors, as this would be the most common use for us, though a few outdoors pictures did not look right when the sky and clouds are a part of the scene. For indoors, it seems over-exposed with muted colors. I tried setting color to Vivid and/or reducing Exposure Compensation, the only two settings I can find that may affect this outcome, which only slightly improved the image.

4. Noisy: not audio but video. If you open the picture with some viewer at full resolution you will know what I mean. If you have some other camera to compare, try taking the same/similar resolution.

5. Miss or near hit: to sum it up, I went to a function, took a lot of pictures indoors, all well within the rated flash range but only 50% of them were acceptable, as in you can make out who is who and what is what. None I would even attempt to print and I had a huge disclaimer when sharing those to people who requested.

Make no mistake, all pictures looked really good when viewed on the 3" LCD, perhaps that is where they should stay. On a scale of 10, if I give my antiquated S400 a 7, the L18 deserves a 2. Perhaps I should rate it one star instead!

I have had many digital cameras. At the moment I also own 3 Nikon SLRs, the D40/80/300.

When I am out walking the dog in the desert, the L18 is the camera I usually take. Picture quality is fine, and the really wonderful thing is you can use AA NiMh rechargeable batteries in it. Battery life is good.

For the price this is a great little light weight camera.

Toshiba Gigashot GSC-R60 60GB 2MP Hard Disc Drive Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

Toshiba Gigashot GSC-R60 60GB 2MP Hard Disc Drive Camcorder w/10x Optical ZoomI bought the Camcorder with some hesitation knowing that this is Toshiba's first Hard Drive Camcorder and that they are not noted for making camcorders. My investigation indicated that it basically has Canon lens and optics with the Hard Drive from Toshiba. First some of the bad things that i have encountered:

1. The camera has a focus problem. There is significant difficulty in getting the camera auto focusing especially in dim/low light. In daylight it is much better. Placing the focus to infinity helped a great deal.

2.Does not perform well in Low light, problem common to most Canon Camcorders. I recorded a Graduation Ceremony in a dimly lit hotel hall. With the bright light focused on the people the camera tends to produce too much white for the face. Adjusting the exposure helped somewhat but not very satisfactory.

3. The Hard Drive does get hot working it for some length of time and this places some discomfort on the hands. Not unbearable though.

4. There is indeed some Zoom lens noise picked up by the speaker when no other sound is present. This is however not a major discomfort.

5. Not too good quality stills in Low light dispite the flash. Everything looks too white.

6. Does not have a viewfinder. One has to rely on the screen. Thought that this would affect the battery life significantly but it did not.

7. Does not have an audio or Mic input port. This is a disadvantage for those wanting to record audio from a Mixer or other device.

8. The ACDSee software is really quite basic but gets the job done and a welcome for the novice.

Good things

1. Very well built. Fits the hand nicely. Good feel and weight.

2. Good Quality video in Outdoor lighting. I was indeed surprised at the accuracy of the colors.

3. Very easy to operate. Accessing the menu functions and features were really simple.

4. The output to DVD was very easy and fast. The included software is reasonable but has no editing features. DVD authoring is very limited. Tested importing a clip with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 but it had difficulty in conforming the audio. Maybe i need an upgrade to Pro 2.0 to dealt with Dolby Digital.

5. The audio quality is surprisingly quite clean and very sensitive. Has three options to selecting the volume sensitivity.

6. The Battery life is excellent for such a small battery.

7. Very slim and Good Capacity hard drive.

8. No Tapes and limit to recording long events.

9. The included Cradle is very useful for charging and connecting to a the computer and network.

With the price and features compared to the competition Sony's i believe that this is a good value for money buy. This is certainly version 1 stuff from Toshiba/Canon but i am sure that improvements are on the way. Since HHD camcorder are relatively new except for JVC, i believe that all the makers will be tweeking and improving on this new technology and as such no brand will have the ultimate at this time.

For those willing to take the plunge into the HHD video world this is a good start.

Initially, I was very pleased, until using it for a while. I noticed a white spec on the viewing screen. After carefully looking at it, it was a problem inside the lens, not a dead pixel, so the white spec showed up on all dark video and photos.

Other Negatives:

-Terrible in low-light conditions. Camera Light it comes with is nearly useless as it can only pick up objects close up.

-Settings were very bad. If anyone complains all video comes out very white/bland looking, its because the default settings suck. You need to set it to Flourescent 1 or Flourescent 2. This adds a LOT more color. Also change the color setting to Vivid. You will see an amazing difference.

-Photos suck, but thats because its only 2megapixel, which is understandable.

-What I find to be extremely dumb design is that although it allows you to capture photos while recording video, it actually records the flicker of the photo being taken. In otherwords, you can be recording something nice, and want to take a photo. However, during playback, you will see the video flicker or 'black-out' for a second. I find this very annoying. And I would have to stop recording, take the photo, then start a new recording just to avoid this annoying flicker. Same thing with the pause recording feature. It allows u to pause recording if theresnothing interesting, but when it resumes, it does not make a smooth segway, instead u see the same black-out flicker that brings the two video together.

-The batter power is displayed in three portions, White/Yellow/Red. White lasts about an hour, which I was pleased, I figured the other two portions must last somewhat the same. I was very wrong. Yellow lasted about 15-20 minutes and the red lated about 5-10 minutes. I was shocked. I couldn't believe how misleading that was.

Pros:

-Battery life was maybe 90 minutes. I don't believe I hit 2.5 hrs like some other online reviews claimed. Keep in mind, the White/Yellow/Red Battery LifeGauge is not proportional. White means fully charged. When it hits Yellow, it means about 15 minutes left, and Red means about 10 minutes left. So if u have a lot to record and your on Yellow, ur screwed.

-Good Design, easy to use. I learned how to use most of it wihtout the instructional guide. I only used it to understand what the color settings meant, but that wasn't very helpful either More of trial and error.

-Video Quality, I guess is very good for the price.

-You can record w/o the LCD screen flipped up. However, if u change ur mind and want to use the LCD screen to view, but then decide to close the LCD, it powers off. Therefore making it possible, but difficult and confusing to work with the LCD screen off.

Overall:

If it wasn't for the damn white spec inside the lens that show up in the video/photo, I would be very pleased and would keep it, but I am going to return it for that reason. Otherwise, I believe, for the low price, this is outstanding. Battery life of roughly 1.5 hours is good. Takes so-so quality photos might as well bring along ur other digicam.

But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that I dont have to mess around with miniDV's or miniDVD's (which I can imagine the amount of headache, buying, recording, transferring, editing, re-saving onto DVD would cause)

I would reccommend this if you are on a budget. I also reccommend this because its SO EASY TO USE, imagine no miniDV or miniDVD's that have limited recording time. I damn near recorded 15 hours before i transferred to my laptop, which then recorded another 6 or so hours. It was sweet. However, after seeing the photo quality, I want to hold off until these come down in price and quality moves up!

Cheers!

It's just fine.

Pro: A zillion hours of storage, good-enough battery.

Pro: It comes with a cradle.

Con: No other way to interface the harddrive to your computer, no quickie-cable.

Pro: It uses a hard drive

Con: Using the MPEG 2 files in a video editor is hard. The included video editor is SUPER AWFUL, clicking on things results in MINUTES OF FROZEN COMPUTER. Terrible. Am converting videos myself to dv then editing in another app. Am looking at SpeedEDIT too.

Pro: No hardware glitches.

Pro: Comes with a remote. Can take flash photographs with it. Easy and quick on/off.

Con: Its auto focusing is a bit indecisive. v1.0 firmware, japan has newer...Toshiba!!! You think you're focused, then it decides it wants to retry focusing. Much worse in the dark.

Con: UI, while fancy, is tricky to get used to. The rotating wheel thing is fine, but the joystick in the middle of the wheel is a bit too easy to accidentally choose things. Clicking in any direction might bring up, via some swirly special effects, the flash-photograph mode, and the only way to get out of that mode is to press the same direction again, but if you didn't realize you pressed that direction in the first place because it's too-easy to accidentally choose the thing, then you have to futz with it or look at the screen to read the on-screen instruction of how to close that screen.

Definitely worth $450. For $350 you get the 30GB one without the nifty cradle, a steal.

Pro: Sound quality even from the builtin mic is fabulous, spacious.

I have been very satisfied with the results I have gotten from this camera. I wanted something that would allow me to record business and training presentations indoors in moderately lit rooms. This does a great job and lets me record a full week of training (55 hours) without changing tapes or discs. I have also gotten what I think are excellent family shots.

The 2 megapixel still photos are the best I have ever seen out of a camcorder. They are printable up to 8x10 or so.

I do not disagree with the previous reviewer who said the focus searches sometimes, and that you can hear the focus when sounds are low, but nearly all small cameras have this same issue. I am very pleased. A great buy at Amazon's price.

Terrific value, Intuitive features, simple file transfer and excellent software bundle make this a great average consumer video camera. Transferring movies right to DVD via PC is as simple as I've ever seen. Stability control is on the low end of effective and lighting conditions need to be reasonably bright for the picture to have full depth. That's not to say it doesn't video record OK in normal room lighting only that it is not as sensitive as say a Sony video camera (that costs 1/3rd more)

AT-HDPIX2. This New Solution Is Designed To Add A HDmi Port To Any Computer (mac

AT-HDPIX2. This New Solution Is Designed To Add A HDmi Port To Any Computer (macI've been researching on a way to connect my HP 600 All-In-One computer to my LG 55" 1080p LED TV when I stumbled upon this product on Amazon.

First off, you're thinking, "why don't you just plug the HP via HDMI/DVI/mini Display Port to your TV?" Well, mister, I would have done that if any of these ports were present on the aforementioned HP. Alas, no love...

Thankfully, I found this bad boy while mulling over other solutions like the Cables Unlimited Wireless USB to HDMI and VGA Adapter with Audio which had the advantage of being wireless. However, the max resolution for the product was something to be desired (i.e., 720p), the units getting hot after hours of use and the line-of-sight issue scared me a bit. Since my HP All-In-One would not be utilized as a portable device and at a close distance to the HDTV, the Atlon AT-HDPIX2 seemed like the perfect solution for me.

I plugged the Atlona and Windows 7 quickly looked for and installed the right drivers (i.e., the current DisplayLink software). Then, my TV displayed my computer desktop in extended mode at 1920 x 1080 automatically due to the built-in Extended display identification data (EDID) technology. Nevertheless, this resolution cut off anything I put on the TV whenever I expanded a program or browser in full screen mode. I had to turn off both the PC and HDTV in order to disable the EDID button so I can choose the viewing option which worked best on my TV. This resulted in the max resolution that was around 1650 x 1050.

Outside of the headache in finding the right settings to use, I'm very happy with this lil' product. I'm now able to use my HDTV as a second monitor instead of having to purchase an additional HTPC (the cheapest ones I've seen cost way too much for what you get a not-so-powerful Atom processor and sorry-ash video card) or use my Sony Vaio laptop via wired HDMI every time I want to stream the Net on my LG. Also, the ability to QUICKLY choose between projector mode, extended mode and mirrored mode as well as the flexibility in changing resolution settings with EDID off make this a keeper.

Try this out if you are planning to use a NON-portable computer that doesn't have HDMI technology as an HTPC without sacrificing resolution quality. If you do have a laptop or netbook that has an HDMI port and want to splurge a little more because you don't like wires, why not get the ASUS WiCast EW2000 Wireless HD Video Transmitter and Receiver? Otherwise, the Atlona AT-HDPIX2 is waiting for you! :p

If you are planning to use this for a Mac, I would think again. I was unable to get it up and running on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.4 after hours of tech support and trouble shooting. The final answer was "we don't support mac". The bottom line is that Atlona farms out the mac drivers to a separate company "displaylink", which seems to be doing an inadequate job, and has no phone support. I suggest looking for a better alternative......

The product did not work as promised. The picture quality is poor. I had talked to their technical expert prior to placing order and described set up in full details to get his opinion as to whether the product will work satisfactorily and was assured it will. However, the quality of the picture was bad on full screen. The quality was OK ( but still below par) with a smaller size picture. It seems that I did not get reliable information from their technical department. I ended up returning the product at my expense and had to pay their restocking fee too. It would have saved me frustration and money if the technical advisor had told me that the product is not suitable for 70" TV.

This item worked brilliantly. This product uses one usb cable to get audio and video from your computer to display to an HDMI TV. I had no issues with the setup and it does require a reboot once the drivers are installed on the computer. The sound is good and the video is great. It may be a bit pricey but it is an easy solution to get computer video and sound to your tv.

I was looking for a USB to HDMI converter for a long time that would support 1080p. When i walked into Fry's Electroics out here in California I notice this Product on the shelf, and it offer true 1080p. And as a consumer I like to enjoy new toy's that comes out in todays world, Very easy to install with very easy instructions and a mini CD disc and a 6' HDMI cable and the converter. From my Computer to my 42" Vizio with a 240 refreash rate the ATLONA AT-HDPIX2 is the BEST in 1080p yet that I have found. Because of the Awsome Quality of this Product, I have told this to alot of my friends about this Product, One friend in Rancho Cucumonga, Ca. has a Power Mac G4 and after he came to my home and saw it for him self, He went out on line and Purchust the same AT-HDPIX2 to have it to his 60" Samsung LED TV. My uncle has a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop and he wanted the same thing to his 50" TV by LG, So I noticed Amazon had it also and for a Better Price then Fry's Electronics and I ordered it through my account for him. From time of Purches to my Door step was very happy for the Promped Service and Now 3 of my closest Friends have the same thing and Enjoy A Good Movie from their Computer. From a Scale of 1 to 10 I would give this Product a 9+ for it's Preformance and Clearness. Thanks Amazon. Looking forward to my next purchuse to help out another friend.

Zacuto Z-Finder EVF Pro 3.2 inch High Resolution MonitorAfter trying out various options including external monitors, I found this to be the all in one solution. Works great on my 5D mark ll as well as my XF100. Solid construction and an incredibly useful tool for all situations. Whether trying to achieve accurate focus, attain proper exposure, or ensure framing is spot on, the Zacuto EVF will exceed your expectations. The peaking and zebra functions are great and I am especially happy with the fact that Zacuto added a USB port for firmware updates which is something not regularly offered in products like this. Another bonus in using the Zacuto EVF is it can provide an extra point of contact when shooting with my DSLR. An all around great investment

JVC GZ-EX355BUS - HD Everio Camcorder 40x Zoom (Black) with 16GB Bundle

JVC GZ-EX355BUS - HD Everio Camcorder 40x Zoom with 16GB Bundle16G built-in memory is great, no reason to really buy more, 40x optical is great for 99% of normal shooting, most others are only 25x, AVCHD file format and normal file name numbering (no hexadecimal numbers) makes for a very compressed and high quality file format. Remote controls via app and browser and even internet are great, but who would really use it for a full surveillance camera, leaves the screen on full the entire time. Zoom button and had controls have bad placement for a large hand, give cramps, also cannot use hand grip with power cord plugged in. Record and photo button are in bad positions compared to others, also the zoom is very hard to use in slow mode, others have a much better button. Must open the screen to download, plug is behind screen. No charging via USB, and no built in USB plug like most others and the Wi-Fi cannot be used for file copying without installing the 3rd party junk software which just does a massive backup dump and puts it into a goofy calendar format (just let me open it and select my files and copy them), over fancy and clumsy, it defaulted and copied all my files to the Administrators folder instead of my User folders. Wi-Fi is buggy at best, seems to not like protected WPA/WPA2 that much, very difficult to connect to LAN at times, no real reason. Remote Scoreboard feature sounds great, but plops it right in the middle of the screen and you can turn it off without stopping the entire game, who wants the score written over the players faces and in the middle of the play the entire time, would be great to have an option to turn off after a few seconds or shrink it down. Great phone quality, better than my old camera, video and sound seems ok, big diff between my old non-HD JVC. If you are buying it for UStream, forget it, don't work without the junk 3rd party software and even when all loaded up and connected properly, you just get a blank screen, another great idea that didn't pan out. The 3rd party software company (LoiLo) and UStream all offer no support (mentioned in the online doc multiple times). Firmware update online did not address any of the issues, so JVC has a great idea, but didn't back it up on delivery. Still a nice camera for quality photos and video, photo quality does drop considerable when shooting pics in video mode. Hopefully a firmware update will fix soon, great potential... Can buy the same basic functionality for less in a lower model JVC without the Wi-Fi (recommended)...
