TOSHIBA TDP-T45U Portable DLP Projector

TOSHIBA TDP-T45U Portable DLP ProjectorI have had one of these projectors for about 5 years now. It provides really great contrast ratio for a projector that's under $1000 (I bought it at $800 in 2007). The image is bright and visible even when it's light out (although, having a lot of light in the room will reduce visibility). It provides a consistently sharp image when watching HD video.

Compared with more modern projectors, it still does well, but it does not display 1080p, only 720p or 1080i. That said, it's a great projector if you don't want to plunk down some serious cash for a $3000 projector.

It is a little bit noisy, if you're used to regular LCD/LED/Plasma TVs, because of the lamp fan, but the noise is pretty easily drowned out if you have a good set of speakers.

I had to replace the original lamp after 1,500 hours. The documentation said I'd have to replace it between 2,000 and 3,000 hours, but I think the life of the lamp got severely hindered by a power surge. Maybe 20 or 30 hours of use after the power surge happened, the lamp cut out for good.

I have it mounted to a ceiling mount about 15 feet (4.6 meters) from the screen on which it's projecting, and it creates about a 114 inch (2.9 meter) diagonal image.

It's an all-around great projector, and I use it mainly for watching movies or playing games.

If you want a projector and you want quality that doesn't come withh a $1500 pricetag. Then this is your friend!

Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens & EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens + 16GB Deluxe Accessory KitThe camera is awesome. Takes some great pictures. Needs some getting used to. Arrived as advertised with all the accesories. Would recommend this camera to anyone who wants to start taking great pictures for good memories. Throw that point and click away and get a Canon rebel.

The bag that comes with it allows storage for most of the needed accesories. The filters are not that good. But filters can be purchased anywhere.

Overall a great purchase and arrived as promised.

This camera has been fabulous for us. Easy to use and provides far more picturing taking options than we knew or need. We were beginners but this camera has given us a ton of great action photos from our kids' sporting events and it has been a dream for us. Everything was new as described and came in perfect condition. Very, very happy with this purchase!!

This is a GREAT package deal for everything you get with it. It might not all be the best of quality, but for someone on a budget having all these items come with the camera is a great money saver until you can save up to buy better quality items.

I bought this camera on June 19th around 9am and was very surprised when 2 hours later I got an e-mail telling me that they had already started to ship my items! I was so excited I tracked the package every morning and night until finally June 21st, 2 DAYS LATER, it finally got to my house! I am VERY pleased with the speedy delivery of this camera package.

I've played around with the camera since I opened the package and so far everything looks great! The camera takes amazing pictures, the quality is great! It's easy enough to use if you play around with the settings for about an hour. The only thing I do not like that came in the package is the "starter kit" which comes with cleaning supplies for the camera and screen protectors. The cloth that came with it is very cheap and my shirt cleaned the screen better than the cloth did, and the protector is one that you must cut on your own which makes it look funny when placed on the screen.

Both lenses that come in the bundle are wonderful! And the carrying case has the perfect amount of storage space for everything that comes in the package, except for the tripod, which comes with its own bag.

Other than the "starter kit" I have no other complains as of yet. I am very happy with my purchase, and I would definitely buy from this seller again!

Nikon Coolpix S1100pj 14 MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom

Nikon Coolpix S1100pj 14 MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom and 3-Inch LCD and Built-in ProjectorI was really excited to see a camera with a built in projector and first saw the older S1000 on Amazon for half price of the newer s1100pj.

I first bought the newer camera because it has a brighter Projector up to 14 lumis compared to up to 10 lumis of light projection on the older camera.

I also liked the newer features such as Fisheye effect and 720p high difinition video recording.

When amazon dropped the the price on the older camera s1000pj ($129.00) I decided to buy it and compare it to the newer version s1100pj and here are the results.

The newer camera sucks at $309.00.

First of all I had trouble getting the touch screen to respond when looking at my photos. The projector brightness doesn't look better then the older camera.

The 3 inch view screen on the new camera remains on when projecting which is very annoying. The only way to shut off the viewer screen on the camera is when using the remote control.

The fisheye effect is not fisheye at all. It's Nikon's way of adding a strange effect (Non-Adjustable) on photos already taken and cannot be used when shooting 16 X 9 photos or with Video recording.

The older s1000pj is the only way to go.

There's no touch screen which is better in my opinion and the Viewer screen on the camera automatically shuts off when using the projector.

The brightness on the wall looks about the same as the newer camera's projector.

The focus adjustment is a knob on the newer camera and a slider control on the older camera. Both are easy to use.

Even the battery compartment on the older camera is more user friendly.

I was having trouble removing the battery on the new camera as it would not drop out without the need of shaking the camera.

Also, the description failed to mention that if you use the projector for a few minutes you must wait for the camera to cool for about 30 minutes before you can resume taking pictures so keep that in mind if you're at a party.

The result is buy the older s1000pj Nikon camera. You will save money and have a better camera.

I have owned Nikon SLRs and own a Nikon D-SLR and wanted a smaller camera to take on shorter business trips and into places where SLRs camera are not always convenient or allowed. I had seen the videos/promos for this camera and wanted this before it even came out. I ordered via OneCall (one of Amazon's partners) on the first day it was available and so far I'm impressed. The touch screen works really well, menus are very obvious, picture quality is very acceptable for a point-and-shoot, video quality is very nice, battery life is acceptable (I ordered a spare battery as I have a history of taking many photos) and of course there is the projector, which most of you want to know about. In daylight it works well on a 8x11 size background from 1 to 2 feet away. Anything further away or colored background are not ideal in daylight. In a darker to dark room, you can actually go quite big, much bigger compared to stated, with reasonable quality. Obviously, the closer to the wall, the better the quality, but remember that this is just a very small projector, and it's built into a camera and not a stand-alone device or intended to be a stand-alone projector. Battery life suffers quickly using the projector and I wish they would not display the "battery low" indicator on the projected image, but that's how it works.

Drawing on images while projected does not work as smooth as in the promos and the provided stylus is a better tool for this compared to using your fingers.

Have to yet test it as a projector on a PC but assume this to be similar compared to projecting images.

Overall it lived up to my expectations. Nikon has a gem with this one, and after testing the S1000pj at a retail store, it seems like quite an improvement over last year's model. It's a good camera and for a geek like me, it's also a sweet gadget.

Shortly after receiving this camera the shutter button/zoom switch became problematic. I contacted Amazon and they replaced it, no questions asked. Kudos to Amazon's excellent customer service. The second camera developed the same problem after six months, obviously a design flaw. Amazon then referred us to Nikon customer service and gave us a $30 gift certificate for our troubles. Since then, dealing with Nikon's customer service has been a nightmare for an obviously flawed product. The denied any fault and said Amazon probably dropped the boxes the cameras were stored in and have insisted that we pay $84.00 to repair the camera. They also refused to allow us to speak to a manager or some higher authority. Feeling like we had not other choice, we agreed to pay the $84.00 to repair this $300+ camera. That was four months ago, they have not received the part for the repair as yet and we are without a camera. It remains to be seen when and how this will be resolved. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA and Nikon obviously does not value it customers as evidenced by its very POOR customer service.

The projector is 14 lumens but is not as powerful or as big a pk102 which is 11 lumens. Connecting it to a PC requires installing a software using a CD they provide. The projection lags a lot on a netbook. You have to switch the settings of the camera every time you want to change from uploading photos to computer and using the computer as a projector. The whole camera is pretty big in size compared to regular digital cameras but can't complain on a device with a built-in projector. The camera has some pretty nice features, though some requires the user manual to help you find out what they do. The flash is very powerful and there is a touch to focus/exposure on taking pictures. Not on video though, unfortunately. The touch screen sometimes lags a little and requires more pressure than smartphones such as the iPhone. Overall, not bad.

The touch screen is not as sensitive as I would like it to be without using the stylus. Whenever I'm trying to change settings or go to the next picture, it doesn't wan't to respond when I try to move it accross the screen... unless I press harder than normal. Maybe I'm just too used to the iPod Touches screen.

The projector is very nice, but it has to be pretty dark to be "very nice". It's really nice to be able to show off your pictures or videos on up to a 47" screen instead of everyone huddling around you and the tiny camera screen right after you took a picture or something.

Overall, this is a very worthy camera and I highly recommend it. Picture quality is great and it takes 720p High Definition video. Also, the sound quality is pretty good as well. If I could, I'd give this camera a 4 1/2 star rating.

Genius Colorpage-SF600 Sheet fed Scanner

Genius Colorpage-SF600 Sheet fed ScannerThis is a great little scanner. It scans anything from a business card up to at least a letter size page. I haven't tried a legal size page. I did have a hard time getting it to run on my computer which has the Windows 7 operating system. I was basically trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. After about 2 hours I finally got smart and went to the company site, , and downloaded the correct drivers. From there it was a cinch, only took about 2 minutes to have it up and running. I recommend if you are running Windows 7 that you download the proper drivers first. It will save you a lot of frustration.

I recently purchased this scanner mainly because it was portable and I do alot of traveling that requires my receipts to be scanned and sent in. So far, so good. The installation was not as easy as they claim, however, I have been known to be computer-illiterate at times. But once I got it up and running it worked great. Be sure to change the settings of where you want your files to be saved in(which folder). I scanned the receipts right in and they did well. It was suggested to tape them to a piece of paper but I did not find that necessary. In addition, the holding dock has an empty bottom so you can store the USB cord inside. NOTEThis scanner also comes with a soft case so there is no need to buy the "recommended" case with it for $16.00. I hope this helps everyone. This was the cheapest scanner with the best reviews and I think it does it's job.

the Genius Color page sf600 scans in good speed and takes very little desktop space. The image on the page is wrong and this is why the previous customer thought he received the wrong product and had to return it. I can scan jpeg and convert it to pdf format. Pretty handy. Scans letter size document too.

Physically seemed like a nice piece of hardware but it simply didn't work. Installed the drivers from the web rather than the disk so I would be sure to have the latest version. Seemed to install properly and asked me to do a calibration after install. Since the calibration ran fine I assumed install was correct. When I tried to scan I got images that looked like digital noise. Tried multiple times with the Digiscan software, omni page, and with the Business card reader. Never got anything but noise. Tried to call tech support but they were closed. Software seemed cumbersome anyway. Decided to just return it. Am going to try the Fujitsu ScanSnap 1300. More money and larger but hopefully will work better. Scanners aren't rocket science and they aren't new so I don't know why they shouldn't just work right out of the box.

I looked a while for a sub $100 compact scanner for my desk. (I already have a big expensive bulky flatbed I drag out of storage and use for slide and serious image scanning.) I wanted to use this to get all those everyday loose papers and receipts in electronic format and trash the paper and eliminate paper piles.

As described the unit is compact and powered by the USB cable so it has a minimal footprint on your desk and doesn't consume an outlet. Along with the provided software it has two hardware buttons you can preset for one touch scanning. I have one set to scan as OCRed PDFs and the other to scan jpg. You simply press the button and it scans according to the buttons presets. You can also manually scan and use software button presets. It pulls the items right on through at a good pace and they display in the supplied scan/document management tool. From there you can sort your scans as you desire.

I did have to cajole the driver a bit to install on Windows 7 but I finally got it installed (So don't give up)

For under $100 I could not be more pleased with the performance and options.

Sony DCR-HC1000 3-CCD MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom

Sony DCR-HC1000 3-CCD MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder w/12x Optical ZoomI bought this camcorder last December (2004) and it is absolutely the best picture I have seen out of a Mini DV camcorder. I originally bought the Panasonic 3CCD and returned it due to no ability to adjust shutter speed below 60 for low light conditions. This goes down to 4 fps which you better have it on a tripod or serious ghosting will appear. The perfect setting I have found for low light, for instance inside your home is 30 frames per second. This camera will also take MPEG4 movies to the memory stick for emailing. Overall, I must say this is the best camera on the market currently for the price. Buy one and you will not be sorry!!! Have fun shooting!

This is the best quality you can get in a semi-pro camcorder from Sony prior to the 1080i release, which has not been released prior to this writing. You just can't bet the 3 ccd quality. Just recently I shot a lunar eclipse with this little cam and as I was getting the cam out, I remarked that it probably wouldn't show-up, I was very wrong. At just the 12x optical zoom, the detail even on the 3.5 inch monitor was better then the naked eye. Amazing!

Buy Sony DCR-HC1000 3-CCD MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom Now

This camcorder rules!!! It has superb low light video quality. Remember those grainy, yellowish pictures that you typically get when recording indoors at the normal bulb light? You can forget about them now: the camera records outstanding, grain free, rich color video in any environment you'll take it. The touch menu is a superb ergonomic achievement, albeit I thought initially that I'll hate it, upon use I came to love it. Taking about ergonomics: do you remember those hand joint pains when recording for an extended duration? You can forget about that too, since this cam is the only one in the market that has a swivel handle, so that you can choose you own natural angle for holding the camera.

Did I mention video quality? or the native 16:9 wide format? The optical stabilizer also rocks. Most of the other cameras have electronic ones.

Minuses? The picture (non video) quality is no worst, nor better than that of other video cams. Get a digital SLR for real picture taking.

It is an excellent camera, probably the BEST on market for the price you pay, excellent video quality, and good pictures too.

But need to improve 3 points:

1You Cannot wath it on a PAL System TV, Thats important to me because have to travel a lot to Europe, but cannot show what i have recorded to my family there. All my olds cameras have that option.

2The Microfone is not as good as the cameras with the Mic on Front. This camera havi it on top, ¿why? i don't know

3Most of the funtions are on the touch panel, i want the white balance out, and maybe some others funtions.

Want Sony DCR-HC1000 3-CCD MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom Discount?

This is the greatest little camcorder in the world with lots of bells and whistles that would have been way more expensive a while ago. I do wish that it had actual fstops rather than a slider on the touch screen for more accurate adjustments, ditto shutter speed and the manual focus is a bit fussy. More easily accessible manual controls would make it close to perfect. the touch screen takes a little getting used to and is not the very best idea. Other than that image quality is terrific under all sorts of different conditions, a camera mounted mike has decent sound and it is really a pleasure to use.

Sony HXR-NX30 Palm Size NXCAM HD Camcorder with Projector & 96GB HDD

Sony HXR-NX30 Palm Size NXCAM HD Camcorder with Projector & 96GB HDDI sometimes shoot high-end videos for my company with dSLRs to get beautiful, shallow depth of field, but I bought this mostly for my family. I have 10 grandkids under the age of 7 and you can't follow them around with a dSLR and catch all the action without being out of focus and shaky. To my surprise, the footage looks so good from this camcorder I can use it for certain commercial footage too.

Its #1 feature is the floating lens. It's so freaky to look at the lens while moving the camera back and forth and see how it absorbs the shake more than any camcorder ever has that I know of, by far. Where the floating lens is most amazing is when you zoom long and you're trying to hold steady but your shaky hands can't quite get it still enough. They can now. It has a 17x zoom, so long is really long.

What I expected is it would provide a look like a Steadicam does. Unfortunately, it's not really that and it took me awhile to understand why. For one thing, it's so light that it's easy to rotate it right or left as you're walking or running with it and it's hanging down by the handle. A steadicam doesn't roll right or left easily because it has a long vertical axis. The floating lens doesn't prevent that. Also, since it's so light, it's easy to move it up and down, side to side, and the floating lens only partially helps that. It's the shake when zoomed in and you're holding it fairly still but the lens is so long that it normally would make it all shaky where it seriously smooths out the shake. In other words, actually moving it sideways is not where the floating lens helps so much; it's when you rotate it left and right quickly that it does.

Since the sensor is small, you don't get shallow depth of field like you do in a dSLR, but for run 'n gun chasing children, doing documentaries, shooting action, etc., when you want things in focus and sharp, it's seriously good at that. It's surprisingly good at low light but not like a Canon 5d MKII or MKIII. The sound is awesome. It's really simple to use and the white balance, auto exposure and auto focus are amazing. I can't understand how they made it so great with so small a unit.

The only annoyance for me is getting the video off the internal memory is a pain. I had to use that funky Sony cable that it comes with that I lost, and hook it to an external drive formated with a FAT file system. I finally figured it out, but I use a Mac and it was such a pain I ended up just using memory cards. I'm told you can import into Final Cut X, but I couldn't even get it to recognize my MacBook Pro Retina.

A feature that seemed like pure gimmick to me is the projector. You can project onto a wall or car or something what you just shot. Oh my gosh. My kids and friends are addicted to that. I would sometimes shoot amazing footage on a Disneyland ride because it smooths out the shakes so well, then entertain everyone in the line by projecting the footage.

A month after buying it and shooting nonstop for two straight weeks with it, I'm still in awe of how good it is. I'm usually a very tough critic of camcorders because this is the first one I've really loved after having owned and sold 8 of them.

I bought this camera for my business and with new technology very skeptical when cameras go compact. I took a chance and bought it with very few reviews. Using 3-CCD cameras this little had many of my peers had doubts this would do anything but professional filming. When it finally arrived, I had them look over the controls, the touch screen, the options, settings. They were all impressed with this little package from a cosmetic view and economically felt really nice to handle. On my first shoot, I had to get used to the different locations of the buttons and focus knob. I found focusing very easy and used a HDMI external monitor. I also used a couple wired Lav's for my piece and found all the controls as easy to use as the bigger models. The biggest surprise was the low light quality and setting the camera to low lux on, it picked up colors that my other cameras would not. In a small room with a 80watt bulb, it did a terrific job. The floating lens is also a fantastic feature of this camera and the light weight meant I could maneuver it much easier in tight areas.

After the shoot, it was fun to project the video to my client. They were surprised as I was to have this feature and the quality of the built in 24mp camera pics really made a big impression. I found this camera identical to its Sony HDR-XR520V with a smaller internal memory (compared to 240gb), has the same internal GPS but without maps, has a mechanical floating lens, bigger capacity battery and added the dual XLR handle. The better processor with a 24mp camera is amazing. The pictures are crisp and saturated very nice. The extra L.E.D fill light/flash is also a bonus. Overall, this is a great camera and 1/2 the cost of 3-CCD that beats our current camera in capturing low light situations and the useable bells and whistles make it a perfect small business pro equipment must have.

Cons: Using the eye piece that small is unrealistically unusable. They could of knocked off another $25 to keep that off the camera and leave the LCD. The touch screen feels old and outdated compared to my smart phone. The lens hood lock and release is a joke. Otherwise, the external mic and built-in mics are very good. Because I have large hands, I found slipping it into the handle sleeve a bit cumbersome so I bought a threaded pistol grip that worked quite well. I will be buying a couple more.

This is a really great camcorder. It is the camcorder with the built in steady cam. I've noticed this: you can film under fluorescent lights with camera set in auto white balance, and the colors will turn out PERFECTLY. Never seen anything like this before. This is really a camera with a built in steadycam. If you've ever tried to use a steadycam, you'll know how difficult they are to balance and operate. Not with this camera. Very difficult not to get a steady shot every time. Steady walking, steady everything.

I am a motion graphics designer and bought this camera for graphic uses. It's small, has great features, and is easy enough to use by a non-professional videographer. Motorola Additional Camera for Motorola MBP36 Baby Monitor, Brown with White

Motorola Additional Camera for Motorola MBP36 Baby Monitor, Brown with WhiteFirst thing I want to say is that this camera also works with the MBP33 baby monitor as well. We bought the MBP33 baby monitor for our 3 month old and we bought an additional camera to keep in our toddler's room. We are pretty happy with it so far. I love the two way communication function and the room temperature feature. My only complaint is that we keep the camera across the room on his dresser, and the night vision light is not very strong so we can not see clearly all the way to his bed. It is about 7 ft from the dresser to the bed. If we adjust the light contrast on the parent unit we can see, but it is pretty dark and grainy. We previously has a Summer Infant video monitor and did not have this problem at all, but then again, the night vision feature broke after 2 years on that monitor. We keep the other camera above the crib in our baby's room and haven't had any problems at all. Overall, we are happy with the monitor and the additional camera.

This camera was purchased for my Motorola MBP36 Baby Monitor which only comes with one camera. I needed a second camera for a new baby. Previous to purchasing the Motorola MBP36, I had used baby monitors from Levana, Lorex, MobiCam, Samsung, and Summer Infant (my search for the perfect one was a little excessive). This Motorola is one of the better ones I've used.

The setup was super-easy, and it worked flawlessly. It's the exact same camera that comes with the MBP36 set, so it swivels all around tilts, pans and zooms nicely as advertised. It can be placed on a nightstand, and it can be mounted to the wall. I have both cameras mounted to the wall, about 7-8 feet away from the crib. The night vision is excellent. If you have the MBP36 unit with camera, you know exactly what you are getting. I was pretty happy with the purchase.

About a month into using the unit it started to slowly lose the night vision feature. At first it was barely noticeable so I dismissed it; but another month in, it became pretty obvious that night vision was failing. Night vision was still working on the original camera (after months of use), but not on this additional camera (only about a month use). I swapped the two cameras between the rooms and tested them to confirm, and verified that night vision was gone on the second camera only. I probably got a defective unit.

As night vision is one of the key features I needed, this camera became very inconvenient...it basically functioned only as an audio monitor for the second room at night.

Thankfully, because I ordered from Amazon and this camera falls under the baby products 365-day return policy, Amazon replaced it at no charge. Order from Amazon if you want the peace of mind of a 365-day return guarantee. If you want 20% off the retail price, buy with a coupon from BBB, if there is one near you. I believe BBB has a good return policy as well.

I gave it 4-stars because the replacement is working well. I assume that the first camera I received was defective. If this replacement camera fails also, I will write an update to this review and revise the rating.

Beware, you can't see or hear from two cameras linked two the same parent unit simultaneously. Hence, this really doesn't work as two monitors. Also, switching between two cameras involves pushing several buttons to select menus.

My wife loves this camera. We had 2 different Lorex monitors in the past. Unfortunately, the power input connection on the Lorex is cheaply made and both broke within a year. Otherwise we liked them. However, This one is a whole nother level.

The PTZ feature is great. This camera will work with the 2.5 inch screen model, and the MBP33 additional camera will work with the 3.5in screen model. However the MBP33 camera does not have the Pan/tilt feature, so if you buy that one for the 3.5in screen, you will just get a stationary camera.

Want Motorola Additional Camera for Motorola MBP36 Baby Monitor, Brown with White Discount?

Purchased this extra camera for our second child, and paired it as Cam 2 to the MBP36 which I had just purchased. Initially the picture and sound would come up on the monitor, I would be able to switch to Cam 1 and the picture and sound would also work, but going back to Cam 2 the signal would be lost and it would not show picture or sound, and I would have to pair it all over again. I spoke to the Motorola help line in the UK and they do not recommend pairing an extra camera to the monitor. So I ended up returning it and having to buy an new set of camera an monitor. Problem in that is if the 2 monitors are close to each other one would lose the signal!

I am very, very pleased with all of the items that came in this package so far. The only glitch was that Hurricane Sandy caused UPS to be backed up and it took 12 days for me to receive my order. This is a great deal and I am so glad I bought it!

The product came as described. The shipment was quick. Received in 2 days (regular shipping). It was a nice deal when I bought (though the price fell by $50 later on). Except for the bag (looks like a picnic lunch bag) all ites were great.

I like simple. Sure, I could talk about the bright pictures of the grandkids.

I could talk about the utility of x10 focus when copying artwork.

But I'd rather talk about what wasn't.

No pressure upsell. I can't add to the New York/New Jersey horror stories.

No calls about missing items. All items arrived as advertised.

No call to FedEx/UPS. Big Value shipped promptly.

No buyers remorse about paying too much. Competitive pricing.

All-in-all, it's a nice camera, not too complicated. Simple.

Canon PowerShot A100 1.2MP Digital Camera

Canon PowerShot A100 1.2MP Digital CameraWonderful Camera! This is my first digital camera, but I've used them and work and my wife has one also. This Canon A100 is easy to use, Takes clear pictures, and does not drain the batteries. It has been a real joy to own.

The only drawback was no optical zoom, but that I still think for the price it is a great camera to own, I take my everywhere.

Expecting a new baby, my wife and I decided to buy a digital camera. After a lot of research we settled on the Canon A100. We had very little digital camera experience so we made our pick of the A100 mostly on price.

To our suprise, the camera performs very well in all lighting conditions. We have taken several shots indoors without the flash (to protect the baby's eyes) and they generally turn out great.

This camera also has a video mode the performs quite well. It takes 20 second clips (without sound) and performs better than other cameras I've tried that cost twice as much.

For a good, all purpose, all around camera that you aren't afraid to use (drop, have stolen, misplace) I believe you cannot do any better.

You must purchase rechargable batteries, so keep that in mind when comparing to other cameras.

After having a terrible experience with a 2.0 MP machine I strongly recommend this machine if you want an easy to use digital camera which can take very good pictures especially in darker environments. :)

I still believe in the quality of Canon cameras but after using this one for a few months, it's been increasingly difficult to get it to take pictures. When I press the button for it to take, it often does not actually take the picture and must be pressed repeatedly for it to take. I thought perhaps this was just a problem with my camera but my friend has a PowerShot A200 and complains of the same problem. This presents a frustrating problem because I cannot ask other people to take pictures for me as they do not necessarily know how to "coerce" the camera. The other problem I've encountered is that you can't change the manual/automatic settings without turning on the LCD. This causes an enormous drain on the battery. The settings are also difficult to find if you don't have your user's manual at hand.

Other than these problems, this is a great little digital camera at a good price. The pictures I have taken successfully with this camera have all turned out good and clear.

I ordered this because I wanted a simple camera. BOY IS THE INSTRUCTION BOOKLET COMPLICATED. Explanations are very poor. Installation is tricky. Have to read VERY carefully because nothing is explained well. There is also no telephone support from Canon. Strictly, do it yourself.

The camera eats up batteries. The instructions say when you download pictures to your computer you should have the camera connected to the electric supply. However, the AC adaptor is an extra cost item that doesn't come with the camera. Also, the camera cannot draw power from the USB plug in. Why not?? A wonderful feature of USB is that it can power accessories. Lastly, the USB connection is via a propritary cord, not a standard USB connector. I was very disappointed to find such inconvenience and lack of thinking from Canon. Yes, the pictures are fine.

Sony HVR-HD1000U Professional Digital HDV Camcorder + .45x Wide Angle Lens + 2X Telephoto Zoom Lens

Sony HVR-HD1000U Professional Digital HDV Camcorder + .45x Wide Angle Lens + 2X Telephoto Zoom Lens + +1, +2, +4, +10 4 Piece Close Up Macro Kit + 3 Piece Multi-Coated Glass Filter Kit + Extra High Capacity Li-Ion Battery + Deluxe Padded Camcorder Bag + 62' Titanium Anodized Tripod + 6 Piece Accessory Kit + 3 Year Warranty Repair ContractI just received my kit last week. Everything I've ordered from Amazon has arrived early or on time, and this was at my home a day early.

I bought the kit mainly because of the 3 year warranty, it was cheaper on Amazon as a kit with the warranty than it was at B&H and other websites I visited. I used the camera to do some filming of a singer performing outside at the beach. The footage was really good. It was also nice to see that the venue we were perfoming at had 4 of these cameras as well. They were shooting a live beach sport (footvolly soccer and vollyball combined) that was airing in Brazil.

The camera is really nice. But there are a few things to consider. You have to buy an XLR adapter because there isn't a connector. But less than $5 on Amazon. The second is that when you buy Sony you should make sure you have an iLink or Firewire connection to the computer you are going to edit on. You cannot get the HD footage on anything but iLink/Firewire...my laptop doesn't have this so I have to download to my home CPU then save to my external hard drive. Kind of a pain in the butt.

I have only used it for one event so far, but I'm impressed with how easy it is to use and how good the footage looks. It only has one manual control (you can set it to do what you want, but only one thing at a time), so it would be nice to have more, but I don't need more. I just use it to zoom or focus mannually.

It would be hard to find a better camera for under $2000-$2500.

I haven't used the extra lenses or filters yet, but they are the cheap ones you see on Amazon. Also the tri-pod is useless. This is a $10 tripod, they say it's titanium, but 95% cheap plastic. The extra battery is a must! The battery that comes with the camera will not last long especially if you use the LCD monitor (you can turn it off to save power). The longer lasting battery worked for me very well. I am going to have to buy one or two more batteries.

I also suggest you purchase a separate battery charger. You can only charge the battery that is in the camera. A secondary charger is a must.

Bell & Howell DV2300HDZ 23x 1080p HD Digital Video Camera Camcorder with 8GB Card + Battery + F

Bell & Howell DV2300HDZ 23x 1080p HD Digital Video Camera Camcorder with 8GB Card + Battery + Flex Tripod + Accessory KitSo, my husband (a videographer) and I looked at the more expensive cameras (Sony, Canon), but since this was just to be my "fun" camera, we went with something a little cheaper. It has a lot of great features for a casual-user camera nice size screen, easy to use menu and controls, good stability, face recognition, etc. In my living room, with lower light, still not bad quality video. For the camera function, it's a little more touchy. Best photos are going to come by using the tripod that came with it (or another one). Otherwise, the photos tend to blur. And whatever you do, don't use the flash in anything other than the dark if you do, it will totally wash out what you are shooting. It's just too powerful of a flash. Also, we thought that the light could be used on the camera to spotlight things in video mode. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case (unless we just haven't found the right control yet.) But, all in all, if you're looking for a camcorder or camera to shoot home movies and casual photos, it's a great camera for the price, and you'll enjoy the product.
