Viewsonic does NOT stand by thier products. We received this projector 5 months ago as a replacement for another Viewsonic projector that started giving us problems. Well now, only 5 short tmonths later we are experiencing the same exact issue and Viewsonic refuses to help us. The problem we have experienced with both issues is that white dots (pixels) start appearing on the screen. Day after day, they mulitply until after a few weeks you can not even watch anything anymore. This is a KNOWN issue (it's all over the inernet if you Google it) that Viewsonic is having with a lot of thier projectors and yet they keep selling them. I will never buy another Viewsonic product and am now stuck with a $700 projector that I can't watch.

Our company has had to replace over 20 of these projectors. When they work, they are decent, but they have two known defects:

1. Will not power on

or

2. Display tiny dots all over the image

I would not recommend this product.

If this had an HDMI input it would be the perfect projector for it's price range. The resolution rating, SD /vs HD is based on the video input. You can obtain 720p using the RGB input if your video card supports that high an output. Even then, I can see little difference in the picture quality even using the single RCA video input versus the RGB at 1024 x 768 from my computer. It throws a crisp bright picture that can be watched even in moderate light. The colors are bright along with the nearly 6'x9' image I'm getting with about 30 feet throw to the screen. Great features that you would expect from a much more costly projector. Great choice for a home theater projector...using a WD TV Live Plus connected to 2 external hard drives and internet connection for streaming movies, and a 5.1 channel surround hooked in with digital line. All I need now is a nice leather recliner. And we shopped for months...

I have this projector as a replacement after having the same issue that is all over the internet! (white dots, dead pixels that multiply over time) IT IS HORRIBLE!!!! Works fine the first few months and then all these pixels start going white, and their warranty process takes a few months to get through!!! Only for it to happen all over again!!! STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE PLEASE!!!

(BTW, my projector was for home use only and was never moved)

Make sure you go to viewsonics website and get the right projector for distance and size you want. I have this projector about 12 feet away from the 100 inch screen and I have my PS3, computer, and cable box all hooked up to it. Watching DVDs on the computer is perfect at least as good as my 50 inch flat screen. The brightness is plenty but you do need curtains to get the best picture. No HDMI would be the only drawback I can think of because the PS3 could look a little better but it does look great to me. So far I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Compared with some other similar models, this photo frame has significantly better image quality. The resolution is excellent. It comes with an Apple dock. Plays videos and music from iPod/iPhone. I had a Sony photo frame that gave me numerous problems like image freezing (I had to turn it off and then on again), clock not working, could not retain radio tuner presets. This Panasonic photo frame doesn't have any of these problems (but it also doesn't have a radio tuner). I've had this unit for about six months. I was disappointed that it did not come with dock adaptors for iPod/iPhone (they have to be purchased separately). It also does not have a buzzer alarm but uses the connected iPod/iPhone as an alarm to play music (not video).

I've been in the film/video production business for about 30 years. Twenty of those were spent at one of the oldest production companies in the country. I routinely would direct shoots with crews using high-end cameras sitting on Sachtler tripods. And I've also used Sachtler's myself on shoots. In my opinion, there is simply no better tripod on the market. Recently I went out on my own and, of course, getting a good tripod was a priority. I searched far and wide to find something comparable to a Sachtler but at a more reasonable price. This Manfrotto combo fit the bill. At less than half the price of a comparable Sachtler, this tripod/fluid head combo is a pretty good deal though it is not a Sachtler. I bought it to hold my Canon 7D, mattebox, and motorized slider rig... It would be overkill if you simply need a fluid head for your DSLR or small camcorder.

Pros:

Fluid head is wonderfully smooth and adjustable.

Looks amazing! A++++ for styling. (The red accents match my Philip Bloom Pocket Dolly)

Quick and easy lever locks on the legs.

Tension on the leg locks can be adjusted with an allen wrench (a very important feature).

Lighted level (why didn't I think of that?).

Easy ball head leveling.

Large camera plate with spare screws AND a place to store them on the tripod.

Ability to add accessories to the tripod like a monitor arm.

Removable pads on spiked feet.

Cons:

The spreader like Sachtler spreaders doesn't always collapse as easily as it might.

Black painted aluminum will scratch over time.

No pouch for parts or a screwdriver in the tripod case.

Weight? Not an issue for me, but it's not quite as light as carbon fiber (nor as expensive).

Formidable. This is not a wimpy DSLR tripod. And yet, it is not a monster either.

Manfrotto obviously went for the gold with this combo especially the fluid head and they succeeded. If you can't afford a Sachtler, this is a good alternative.

Video production is what I do. And I am around a ton of different tripods, heads...good and bad. By far I would recommend this set up for DSLR shoots when on a budget, and without spending thousands of dollars. The new bridging technology is pretty cool. And the 3/8'' adapter on the side of the head is killer for attaching your articulating arms for your zoom/ monitor. The head is smooth and has a lot of settings to play with. The legs are all right, they are definitely sturdy but at the same time a little on the heavy side. But you get what you pay for. Nothing too heavy though.

I am around sachtlers tripods and really expensive heads. I would recommend this tripod to anyone looking for a great piece of equipment. I am very pleased with it. And I am happy to have it apart of my kit.

As expected, Manfrotto has built a high-quality, reasonably priced tripod with fluid head. I've only been using this for a few weeks, but it has exceeded my expectations. If you take the time to learn the controls and what everything is for, you'll definitely appreciate this product. The tripod is very sturdy. The leg extensions are easy to use, and can be extended with one hand if needed (although I always suggest using two hands to prevent from dropping your gear!). It has a bubble level which can be lit by the push of a button and the included battery. The feet articulate so you can create a level base for your camera on the most uneven of surfaces. My only gripe with it is that you should be able to lock down the center of the mid-section support so all of the legs move evenly, but even so you get used to it. With the two-stage legs, there are plenty of places to mount accessory brackets to hold your monitors and sound equipment.

The fluid head is smooth and easy to use. It does take time getting used to! No one should expect to pull this thing out of the box and be a pro, there is a learning curve. You've got to learn how to set your counter-balance and drag to efficiently operate this thing. The counter-balance and drag settings work well, although the panning drag adjustment is in an awkward place that makes it difficult to adjust (it's underneath the tripod head, so you've got to have small fingers to make fast adjustments). I've got it loaded up with a 5dmk3, RedRock Micro Cinema kit w/cage and follow focus, and anything from a 18mm to a heavy 70-200mmL lens. Although this thing is rated for around 17lbs, I've had over 20lbs on it without any hesitation from the head. I feel safe with $15k+ of gear loaded on this thing.

All in all, I highly recommend this piece of gear. Ours is being used in a high-end commercial photography/cinematography studio, and so far we are very confident in it's abilities to keep up with our demands.

I've been using this tripod for over a year, on dozens of shoots, corporate video web promos and indie film. It is one of the things I just don't worry about. It is easy to adjust. I love the leveling head with illuminated bubble. It has a great, sturdy bag. It is a bit on the heavy side. For pan and tilt, I have been adjusting them on the more resistant side, and very happy with the results.

Konica Minolta Dimage Z2 4MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom

I've had my Z2 for about a week and I am very impressed with it. This is my fifth digital still camera (the last was a Sony DSC-S75). Other reviewers have complained of poor image quality and noisy zooming during videos. It almost seems as if they are talking about a different camera. My Z2 has produced very sharp and colorful images (flesh tones are a bit oversaturated even at the "natural" color setting) and the zoom is COMPLETELY silent in the videos I've taken. One reviewer said the videos cannot be edited, but that is not true. The camera comes with Arcsoft software to do some crude editing on the Quicktime (*.mov) files, but it also allows you to save the video in other formats such as MPEG, AVI, and WMV. In those other formats the Windows XP Windows Movie Maker will do additional editing. I recommend you use the AVI version since it seems to introduce the fewest compression artifacts. But you have to download the camera's firmware update (version 1.02, posted 04/23/04) at in order to get the sound to transfer along with the video. When you are at the site you have to navigate to the Z2 page and then select "software." Another virtue I've discovered -the camera is efficient in its use of energy.

The deficiencies I've found have to do mainly with downloading images and dealing with them once they are in my computer. The Windows XP download wizard cannot rotate images that were taken in vertical format (as it was able to do with my Sony) unless I first rotate the image in the camera's playback display. Images come in as JPEGS, with perhaps a bit more compression than I would like in the "fine" mode the file sizes for these 4-megapixel photos are about the same as they were with my 3-megapixel Sony. When I edit an image and then try to save it again as a jpeg, my Ulead PhotoImpact 6.0 software cannot compress the image as much as I may need. And my Printmaster 7.0 cannot see the image, though other JPEGS come in just fine. The workaround that I use is to save the Minolta's image as a Bitmap, close the bitmap file, then reopen it, and then save it as a JPEG at the desired level of compression -and then Printmaster can see it. Perhaps Minolta has done something with the EXIF data that these software applications cannot deal with.

With a camera that generates such widely differing reviews it might be a good idea to buy it where you can return it easily. I got mine at WalMart (Circuit City was out of them) for something like $50 more than the Amazon price, just so I could bring it back quickly. But I'm keeping mine.

Dimage Z2 feels good in your hands. The grip handle has well spaced and placed buttons. The neat LCD screen/viewfinder switcher option is very handy. The LCD screen does not fold out for odd-angle viewing. This camera will not fit into a pocket, but is surprisingly light.

The controls are pretty intuitive, but also extensive. They're a lot easier to understand than most VCR's. Of course, this might be faint praise...

Pictures look fine on my 17 inch laptop screen. Since I do not print out my pictures much, 4MP is more than enough. At half the price of the digital Rebel (and the like), I can live with half the megapixels of digital SLR's. The 16meg SD card that it comes with is completely inadequate. My 512 SD card might seem like overkill, unless you want to film movies. Then, the 512 seems just adequate.

The movie-mode is the best I've seen on a camera. If you pick your spots carefully, you can film a wedding in both still and movie modes, and be pleased by both results. However, the motor on the lense is very loud when employed during filming, and will be noticably picked up. In other words, DON'T zoom while filming. The 10X optical lense will make you forget the digital zoom. If you must go for the digital gusto, unless you've got nerves of steel and hands of granite, use a monopod. Z2's focus lock option allows you to properly compose your picture with your subject off center. The focus is fast (if not quiet) and pretty responsive. The flash is powerful (red-eye reduction), and there is a hot-shoe for a larger flash unit.

The 2 AA battery (with AC power option) allows a lot of flexibility. An optional battery unit is available that pretty much provides enough juice to run a small Irish village (excluding the pub).

If you can accept that it is what it is (a consumer camera with lots of neat features in a well-thought-out package), then Z2 deserves its 5 stars.

I've had this camera for a little over a month and so far, I love it. It's got the full-auto (point-and-shoot) mode for the casual photographer/beginner, but it also has a variety of manual modes and advanced features like aperture priority, shutter priority, program mode, and full manual, as well as manual white balance for those interested in learning the art of (digital) photography.

The two built in macro modes (close and *really* close) allow for excellent close-up shots. Despite having almost no experience in photography beyond point-and-shoot cameras, I was taking pretty good macro shots my first day with it (at least that's what mom said ;). The 10x zoom is great for the long shots. The 16MB SD card is useless (pick up at least 256MB). I still carry the 16 for a spare, but at the highest image resolution, I doubt I could fit 10 pictures on it.

Do yourself a favor and buy the lens adapter ring and a UV filter for the camera. The UV filter can be had pretty cheap, won't affect picture quality, and will keep your built-in lens safe from scratches, dirt, and UV rays (evidently pretty damaging to camera equipment). And having the adapter, you'll be able to attach other filters as your need/skill grow. Oh, and get a couple of sets of rechargeable NIMH batteries too. They'll save you a lot of money. I briefly looked into the Konika-Minolta LI battery pack that's made for the camera, but being more than half the price of the camera, decided it was more expensive than I needed. At least for now.

So far, my only complaints are: the battery cover door seems pretty flimsy. I'd like to see something more substantial. And, I'm not sure the idea of the mechanical mirror used to select the view through the eyepiece or on the display screen is wise. It just seems like more mechanical parts to fail in the future. Also, the use of the eyepiece won't prolong battery life as it would in most digital cameras.

So, it's few faults aside, I give the KM Z2 a solid 5 star rating.

I've been holding off buying a digital camera as I love my Olympus SLR camera but, whilst looking around my local camera store in February, I was introduced to the Z1 and was told that I should probably wait as new cameras were coming out soon. Well, the Z2 came out and I pre-ordered on the strength of what I'd seen from the Z1.

The Z2 has surpassed my expectations I have some very good quality print outs of my first few images. I even managed to get an excellent close up shot first time that I'd previously wasted at least 2 films trying to get on my regular SLR. Focus is fast and accurate and the camera is light and very comfortable to hold. Definitely recommended.

This is the third digital camera I've gotten, to replace an aging 1 Megapixel Sony Mavica with a 16X optical zoom. I am VERY pleased with the results, having taken 1800+ pictures in the past three months with only a few minor glitches.

The pros:

This is the first digital camera I've used that can take a sunset picture equal to any film camera I've ever used.

Very speedy

Awesome zoom.

Good battery lifespan (Using Duracell Rechargable ACCU batteries w/ 1 hour recharger)

Fairly light

The Cons:

The camera has difficulties focusing if you use the zoom out on the water (if you go on a whale watch, don't use the zoom, or ignore the focus warnings whales move much faster than you think!)

A tendency to focus in on the 'wrong' things like a background when you're trying to capture a small thing (such as a bird) in the foreground.

-The battery door is awkward to use especially if you're rushing to change out batteries. Once the batteries are in place and the door is put back, it is solid. The best solution of course is to start out with fresh batteries.

Tips

-I have found that most of the 'jiggle' problems reported go away if you use the eyepiece of course the further the zoom goes out, the harder it is to keep stable. The digital zoom portion of it, like most digital cameras, is not very good, so try not to use it unless there is no other option.

I have gotten a 256 MB SD card for this it can hold 200 images, although if you're taking pictures along the seashore, you can get 300 images.

Keep in mind that this is good for outdoors indoors, a smaller camera with a wide-angle lens does better (I still tote my 2MP Canon Powershot A40 around when I'm our on a 'major' photo shoot to get the wider shots)

If you're looking for a camera with a great zoom I would have to say this is one of the best currently on the market at an affordable price.

We just got this and it took less than 5 minutes to get it up and running. the picture quality is super clear. we have it setup to look outside and there is a bit of glare on the image since the glass shows a reflection, but its not really a problem for viewing the image. looking forward to seeing what happens in low light....

follow up: night viewing is pretty good. better than i expected. also should note that the images on my phone are about 5-10 seconds delayed from real time. not sure if thats due to a slow wi-fi or the camera, but thought i would mention it in case real-time access is important to someone.

Bought one of these cameras to use with my iPhone. Wanted to use it at home for security purposes.

Took forever to get it to set up with my home wireless network. Like another reviewer, I went through the exact same process many times. Finally on the 10th try, the camera was working. Just seems that the process takes a lot longer than 10 minutes to set up, so be patient.

Once I got the camera up and running through the regular setup process, it added another "instance" of what appeared to be the same camera on the iPhone app, which it then tried to register, and both were somehow deleted. The "register" process seemed to hang a lot. So, I started over. Again. And this time I went through the "Manual Setup" process -three times before it actually worked.

MANUAL SET UP WAS THE KEY!

The help guide that's located on the IZON app isn't the same as the one on their website. Also, the steps are not the same. The online version is far more comprehensive. I find that to be a huge issue with product companies. (Do you really think customers will give your product a great rating if it takes hours of repetitive steps and Googling on the Internet to get it set up?) The suggestion to disconnect your home wireless router was silly because the app will tell you that you need to have an active wireless connection to set up the camera. If the app crashes, it will ask to send a report back to STEM. Each time I got a response back from the STEM Help Desk, it was the exact same set of instructions which were not working. Being the stubborn IT professional that I am...I was sure going to figure this out by myself! And I did.

Once I got the camera up and running, it did exactly what I needed. I can view from my iPhone 5 and iPad while on my home wireless network, and can also view while on 4G or LTE service through AT&T.

I'm probably being very kind by giving 3 stars considering the time it took me to set up and the constant crashing of the iPhone app and "network congestion" errors (is that MY network or is it the Internet?).

Although the IZON iPhone app crashes very often, the iPad app seems to be working better. The camera appears to drop from my wireless network every now and then.

I will provide an update within a month. I can't recommend this product at this point. So THREE STARS it is for now.

This little device is amazing! I used to have a Linksys WVC80N home monitoring camera that was a huge pain. You practically needed to be a sysadmin to figure out how to connect it to your home network. And if you wanted to view it online, you had to purchase web hosting from some three-bit company that Linksys partnered with.

I got the Izon Stem setup on my network in less than 5 minutes. And it runs thru an app on my iphone... I thought for sure they were going to charge me to use the app, but it's entirely free! You can only view the video on the iphone you have it connected to (NO viewing on a desktop), but that's not a problem for me. The app may be a drain on battery life, but I haven't used it enough yet to find out if that's true.

I bought this camera after having numerous problems with my Sony. Although it is only 4 years old my Sony has been repaired 3 times and broke once again. I paid alot of money for my Sony and was very unhappy with it. So I decided against Sony for this purchase. I may have just had bad luck with them because I know they usually make good products... but to be on the safe side we decided to go with another brand. I did alot of research on the internet for different camcorders. I also went and did alot of store research. I felt all the store employees out for what they felt to be good and how many of the various brands get returned for different reasons. Although the Panasonic was not the most recommended camcorder, it did not get bad reviews either.

After shopping around for sometime and playing with the different camcorders on the market, I went with my "gut feeling" and chose the Panasonic.

After using it a few times, I have to say I LOVE IT! I am so happy with my purchase and am so glad I chose Panasonic.

I have to say I am not real Technical when it comes to all the features it has and will probrably never use 1/2 the features it does have. But the recording quality so far has been excellant! I have no complaints with it being grainy or anything. It is simple to use and weighs less than 1lb. And when you have 2 kids who require a whole suitcase to go anywhere that is a major plus!

All kidding aside though, I give it a 10 on the scale of 1-10. Again it is very simple to use and the quality of the recording is great if not excellant.

This is a great camcorder for anyone who does not want something real technical. The 20X zoom lens it awsome!

People have to remember that this is a very affordable ENTRY level cam. It does the job very well. Nice viewfinder, excellent zoom (one of the deepest at 800x) and simple features. This is a beautiful cam at a great price!!! I have not found any drawbacks on transferring or downloading either. Fun also to add zoom lenses and/or wide lenses affordably. Overall a great buy!!!!!! If you believe you are a director, you may need to look into advanced models at much higher prices. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

I've been happy with every aspect of this camera except for one: The night shot mode isn't an infared type deal like some other cameras where the pictures gets that greenish tint but you dont loose frame rates. The night-shot on this camera (MagicPix) turns the shutter speed WAY down so the video becomes very choppy, even with a tripod. The build in LED light works in gain mode, but only for short distances.

Otherwise this camera is great. It hooked right up to my firewire card and Adobe Premiere already had drivers built in for it. the Video and sound quality are excellent, the size of the camera is great, and the features are very straightforward. Plus, if tweaking settings to your liking is your thing, the instruction booklet is very easy to follow. So, if you are going to be doing a lot of VERY low light recording, like I figured that I would, you might want to look at how other brands' night modes perform. Otherwise, this is a great camera for you

This camcorder is absolutely wonderful. Though I don't think I'd pay top dollar for it. While it works great recording and playing back, there is minimum software availible ( Id didnt recieve any) and figuring out how to download it to the computer to burn to a DVD took a while. Though I only paid $195 for this camera that also came with a brand new camcorder bag and additional battery. I kinda wish I would have spent the extra money to invest in a DVD camcorder. But, if you are willing to take the time to learn how to burn to DVD, then this is a great camera!

I was impressed when I received the cam and I saw the size! Very little, compared to my old JVC from 10 years ago.

The quick start works great! And it uses the cheaper cassets for videocams.

People shouls know that the USB connection is only for transfering the photos stored in the card (use the PC mode). Also USB is for webcam purposes (use the tape recording mode), or if you want to transfer the video only (not audio) to the computer (use the Tape playback mode).

For photos, with a 128MB card u r fine. The resolution is less than 1 MPix (600X800).

If you want to use the full video/audio transfer to ur computer, be sure u have a firmware connection (IEEE 1394 or I.Link) And about the software, u can use windows default or buy Pinacle or any other related, not necesary to wait a lot for the Panasonic one (if u request that appart).

This cam records great with good quality during the day, but needs a little light improvement for evenings and nights.

Panasonic should think better for next cams when placing the connection ports, those are kind of inacessible.

I like this one, I searched and compared a lot before purshasing this one, other ones have not the same conectivity or are expensive. This one works great (with good ilumination), fast and with good quality.

Works perfectly! Works just as well as cables costing $30 or more. We have had it for quite awhile with no loss of quality. We have also gotten them for family members who report no problems at all.

I've purchased over 6 HDMI cables (over the span of a few years) from various vendors on Amazon. Each time the deals change, but I have yet to find a seller send me cables that didn't match the advertising. Until now.

First, there are no ferrite cores on either end of the cable as the picture suggests.

Second, the picture depicts a fairly thick cable (that is, well insulated). What I got was far from it... they are positively the thinnest HDMI cables I have ever received. I went back to read the description of the product and realized I was a sucker! The text "premium cable" and "heavy duty" is absolute b.s. because it flat out states the wire is 28awg (28 gauge)... that's .321mm thick! Think about it... a third of a millimeter! And not only is the wire inside very thin, but so is the shielding and insulation. I got had!

No, I haven't tried them out yet (they're for my father-in-law's system and I'll hook them up this weekend). I'm sure they'll work, but given the flimsy-ness of the cable, I clearly can't place them where interference is likely.

Sony really got everything right on this little camera. My wife and I already own the higher end DSC-717 5 megapixel Sony. That camera is unbelievable in its own right, but I do home inspections and wanted something I could slip into a shirt pocket. This little Sony does that well, but it does so much more. I still can't believe all of the features they packed into something this small. It's 3.2 megapixels which is more than fine for 95% of the shots you'll take; that will print up to almost 8x10 with no noticeable loss of detail. Flash works very well, offering red-eye reduction if you want to use it. Zoom is very good, offering both digital and optical zoom modes. I personally don't mind the digital zoom, although some people prefer the optical only. In the >3x zoom mode, the digital only kicks in for the last tiny bit of the zoom, so I don't see it as a pro nor con. Battery life is amazing, as it has been for the past two years with all Sony digital cameras. The new Lithium batteries just last forever; well over 100 shots, easily. As we already have one Sony digital camera, I didn't have to install a thing; everything from the software to the transfer cable to the PC worked from the older Sony. Thankfully, Memory Stick prices are coming down; a good 128mb stick will likely be all you'll need. I'm using 64mb sticks and with the resolution set at 2mb, that's over 30 pictures per stick. And since it's digital, you can instantly delete what you don't like, so, literally, all of your shots, in the end, are keepers. Has an incredible movie mode; even better than the over $1,000 DSC-717; it eats up a ton of memory sticks to do it, but I'm thinking about tossing the videocam; it's really that good. Menu options allow filters for sepia (so nice to see interiors in sepia; makes them look turn-of-the-century), solarize, black and white, negative, etc. Plus it offers seven 'scene' modes, such as the beach (which corrects the balance to show the ocean in its correct shade of blue), fireworks, distance shots, etc. Also has a very good macro capability if you like shooting flowers in close detail. All in all, I spent some two hours with the camera when I first got it homeand was truly taken back by how many features it offers. And don't forget the biggest feature: IT IS SO SMALL!!!! Not so small like the new cell phones that are TOO tiny; just the right small so that you can put it in your shirt pocket. It doesn't weigh a thing either (it's in the ounces category). Just a real tour-de-force of what can be packed into a small package, still remain user-friendly, and put a true grin on your face when you use it. There are a ton of under 5 megapixel cameras out today; Sony, Canon, Olympia, Kodak, HP, Panasonic, Leica, Epson, etc. all make cameras that compete with this Sony. Yet I don't see any of them offering all of the features this camera has. I don't give out many 5 stars on products, but this one earns it in every way. If you're just starting out in digital photography, you'll appreciate getting this many features in such a small package and one that doesn't need a PhD in Engineering to operate. If you're a seasoned pro in the digital world, you'll love having this little guy in your pocket, just so you don't have to lug around the bigger equipment. Highly recommended in every way.

This camera has the perfect balance of features for those who are "on the go." The durable all-metal body is sleek and small, fitting into most pockets easily. The battery life is excellent (second only to the DSC-P72/92). The 3x zoom is suitable for 95% of travel shooting situations. With the addition of a 128mb Memory Stick (which are very cheap after rebates, see Lexar/Sandisk), this camera at full 3.2 megapixel resolution can fit tons of shots.

The video mode is what sold me! Imagine taking 640x480 resolution video, with sound, for as long as the Memory Stick can hold... (Heck, I returned the DV camcorder I just bought, and waited for a month for this camera to be released.)

Good selection of accessories (although pricey). Best accessory? Two words: Underwater Housing.

The controls are VERY easy to use! I haven't look at the manual yet... but I will soon... there are probably many new tips/tricks to learn.

Quality of photos:

The wonderful thing about this camera is that on full-auto mode, the shots are outstanding. Are you in a tricky shooting situation? Take control with "Scene Modes," making those snowboarding pictures come out awesome!

The camera does lack fully-manual control over exposure, whitebalance, and f-stop, but my wife does not have the patience to learn photographic theory, nor does she have the patience to wait for me to tinker with the shot. Most of the photos I've taken have been in full-auto mode, and I'm very pleased at the results.

Misses:

No remote control... I love this about my Canon film camera. You don't realize how handy this is until you don't have it. Also, the add-on lenses require a plastic snap-on adapter. But that's the price you pay for unbelievable portability.

Slow focusing in low light (especially outdoors). Sometime you have to hold the shutter release button down for five seconds before it will fire. Set to (P) program mode and manually set the focus distance to speed up the process.

Conclusion:

Excellent camera for the price. Resolution is more than adequate for my shooting situations, and it fills up the Memory Sticks slower. Video mode is the best out there. Portability, durability, reliability.

This is my first digital camera, however before I purchased it, I did a lot of research and tried the various ones available in the market. Ok first off, if you are not planning to enlarge the picture greater than 8" by 10" [inches], then you dont need a camera with more than 3 MP[mega-pixel] resolution. The greater the MP, the more you can enlarge a digital picture without causing to blur. Just for comparison, the 'old' film [35 mm] camera took a 1 MP picture, so practically with a 3 MP camera, you can enlarge it about 2-3 times without causing it to blur, so make sure you keep that in mind before going for the 8 MP camera. Next, the zoom....consider only the optical zoom of a camera to get a great picture. The digital zoom, is a computer enhanced image, which is not so great.

Having said all this, this camera is unbelievable! The results are incredible. It allows you to take pictures in an email mode, which stores two copies of the same picture, one for emailing and one for printing[full size]. Also the flash is quite extraordinary. The best is the result with movie mode. The movie is with sound which is also incredible. However you would need at least 128 MB memory stick to get a 4 and a half minute video. Dont get fooled by the 90 min video advertisement, that is only in VGA mode, and quite unacceptable for viewing or showing it to friends. Other than that, the camera works great, results everyone will enjoy and you will cherish. Sony ROCKS!!

The camera has superb picture quality. It has SCN modes, that takes amazing pictures at night, snow, beaches, and in very bright condition. Live Histograms helps in taking good pictures and setting light focus. The camera also shows shutter time for its current setting. Its a good feature for doing good photography.

P8 has MACRO mode that takes superb closeups. For the naive photographers, it has auto option. You can take movie of 640x480 with sound till you fill up your memory. It is a superb option. The movie is very clear in daylight.

No other camera with this specification, in market can take better quality of indoor pictures as Sony Cybershots.

The camera is small and light in wieght. Sony has once again come up with the product that rocks in the market. I think its worth paying for this camera.

Camera comes with lots of options that helps in taking good pictures at different times. I recommend you to take tripod and extra memory stick.

I looked for months every website out there that compares cameras, has user reviews and etc... Finally decided on the DSCP8 and am SOOOOO happy I did. I've had the camera for six months and didn't want to write a review till I took it on a trip. I'm now back and must tell you the only problem I had with this camera was trying to get night shots really need to have the tripod for a serious shot. Everything else about this camera is amazing! I have the 128mb stick and can hold over 100 photos at the 2m setting.

bought this in June 2011, went to Europe in September 2011. My husband was trying to replay our gondola ride which he had recorded and put his thumb through the touch screen.
